  • Here's my full tutorial on how I program a light show in SoundSwitch. I chose a song with a typical song structure so regardless of the genre, the video should help you through the process. Also only programmed 1 type of wash, spot, and laser, to show that it's not about how many lights but rather how you use them.
    Fixtures used:
    Yorkville LP-LED4X (Local music store)
    ZKYMZL Wash (Amazon)
    SHEHDS 3W Laser (shehds.com/products/3000mw-rg...)
    Track: Aiobahn & Guy Arthur - All or Nothing (feat. SGNLS) [NCS Release]
    Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds.

    This video was very helpful, thank you very much. If you can, do more tutorials (especially how to do cool autoloops), cause you really do a great job. Thanks to you I finally understood this program. Ps It would be nice to have an instruction on how to properly and accurately set the beatgird, so that the effects do not "run away" during the song. Despite the fact that I set it probably with 10 minutes, still after some skunk of the song a lot of delays come out and I have to move everything.

      I analyze all my music in Serato before opening it up in SoundSwitch. If things are off, I adjust in Serato. I'm sure you can do it in SoundSwitch but I find that this workflow works best for me.

    Love the videos, I just sub’d.
    It seems like you’ve really stepped up within the last 20 videos but I still am wondering-
    How do you implement a scripted light show into a live dj set, and how does it look when it transitions away from a script and into any other mode before you have the chance to line up another song you’ve scripted
    Cheers m8

      Thanks for the kind words! My autoloops take care of my unscripted tracks. If you want to see this in action, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/xuCLwJBsQ1s/видео.html.
      I have my banks setup in a way where A is for intros/verses, B is for prechoruses, and C and D are for choruses. When I DJ, I default to bank A. That way, when the prechorus hits, I can just press a button. Same for the chorus. This way, when the chorus ends, it'll automatically go back into bank A. My D bank has a prechorus, chorus, and then outro. This allows me to just press it during the prechorus and then not worry about hitting it on time for the chorus.
      I think I'll make a video about this soon.

    Awesome video man, super helpful. I have some of the same lasers and one thing that drives me crazy is how a split second as the que is triggered it shows a different preset. Can you elaborate a bit on how you got around that? Sounds like your putting some kinda attribute que before the actual que to trigger the laser?

    • @DJDanyn
      @DJDanyn  2 месяца назад +1

      You need a laser off attribute cue that only affects ch1 and sets it to 0. This will leave all the other settings untouched. Then you put this attribute cue in front of your actual laser cue so that all the other settings are saved but the laser is off.
      This way, when you actually want to use the attribute cue, it won't show the default since you're not on it anymore.

    What decks or dj controller do you use? I have a pioneer mixer and players but don't want to use the rb-dmx1. I was just curious what your thoughts were on trying to use soundswitch with pioneer gear, how I would cue the lighting scenes with songs, or if you recommend other software?

    How did you get the attribute cues for the lasers? Were they pregenerated with the laser profile? I have a few Chinese lasers similar to the shehds you linked, very nice work well but there isnt a profile in soundswitch so i just used another laser profile that seems to trigger decent responses with autogenerate. But its not perfect, and sometimes it spits out animations. I only want beams as you've done

      Add an attribute cue to the beginning of your autoloops/scripted shows.

    Can you recommend SoundSwitch for Light Shows without touching the tracks ? Makes it sense to use it "out of the box"?

    • @DJDanyn
      @DJDanyn  3 месяца назад

      There's no lighting solution that's gonna work "out of the box."
      At the very least, you're gonna need to set up your hardware in the program. This means adding your fixtures and getting things set up with DMX.
      Once you've done that, you should be able to use their stock loops and autoloops.

    • @THMSOfficial
      @THMSOfficial 3 месяца назад

      @@DJDanyn I'm using Rekordbox lighting. (I meant with "out of the box" everything after you set everything up :) Just load a new track and hope for the best)
      I only touch my tracks for a perfect beatgrid and the correct phrases.
      If you have to touch every track for a decent lightshow it's too time consuming.

    • @DJDanyn

      @@THMSOfficial In that case yup, I would say that automated light show programming is actually something they focus really hard on. Great for people who aren't interested in programing and just want something to get things done.

      Right click on track name in library view and go to delete.

    cool. I hope soundswitch "ai" would soon be so good that you don't have to manually make everything. It would be fun to see the difference between your scripted track vs autoscript of that same song. I already got some ideas from your video to make autoloops and then trigger them with midi (intro fades, prechorus chases, chorus bounces etc).

    • @DJDanyn
      @DJDanyn  4 месяца назад +2

      It's getting there but the main problem I have with autoscripting is that it's just too much. 90% of the rig is firing off at the same time and it just looks like rainbow vomit.
      The improvements to autoscripting help but it's still not exactly ideal. It would be nice if we could just highlight a section, and then right click to autoscript.
      For autoloops, I have my banks setup in a way where A is for intros/verses, B is for prechoruses, and C and D are for choruses.

      @@DJDanyn Are you planning to make a video about your workflow with autoloops? Your description is basically what I would like to achieve in some time. I just got lost about default bank A and how it automatically goes back to bank A. I would think that this kind of video would be helpful for a lot of people who are just starting and want to spice things up in their gigs. I also know that making a video takes a lot of time and thought, so if you don't record it it 's fine.

      @@DJDanyn I completely agree with you regarding autoscripting. I have several issues with my hex washers. There is not one pre script that works for them. It looks like they are on acid lol and does not follow the beat or anything else. I had to basically make my own prescript.
      I have been struggling with auto loops as there are not a lot inspirational videos out there and I’m not a lighting engineer, but seeing your videos have given me a lot of help. Thank you
