Coming into this with zero idea of how to use anything related to DMX, I bought a few lights, the USB PRO, subscribed to EMU and hooked it all into Ableton which I never even touched before deciding on this setup. Now I can run my live tracks, lightshow and IEMs from my laptop and my X32, and we're about to pop some edibles and craft an insane lightshow for our fall tour. Learning curve for ALL the above took a day. Well worth it!

I have both, I first bought the open and had trouble with lights randomly flashing whenever I used my mouse. I seem to have interference on my usb bus causing the signal to the dmx to be interrupted for milli seconds as I used other usb devices. Then I got the pro interface as I understand it has a frame buffering feature that smooths out the dmx to a steady signal if there is any interruption on the usb side... and eureka! My very annoying issue was solved. For me the open usb was unusable as my signal interruptions were causing random chaos.
Thank you for the feedback! I am glad that the DMX USB Pro was able to solve your problem! Did you know that the DMX USB Pro comes with 3 months of premium EMU software. You can find out more information about EMU here: www.enttec.com/product/dmx-lighting-control-software/emu-sound-to-light-controller/
I have thirty DMX512 downlights wiring in one input, each fifty of fixtures have powered by one DC power supply. each fixture is 18W、24V.. I'm just doing a student project, and have a flicker problem in fixtures. Should I choose the OPEN or the PRO
I notice the boxes have 5 pin dmx ports. If my lighting fixture has only 3 pin dmx ports, is it ok to just use a standard 5pin to 3pin adapter or do I need something better than that, thank you!
Is there a way of saving your show/s on a memory device so that you don't need your laptop for shows? Perhaps the shows could run on a scheduler (the shows run at certain times/dates etc.)? Thanks
Hi, we have the ENTTEC S-Play that is designed as a playback device. It runs shows at certain times/dates from a micro SD card plus internal memory. It can be controlled from a laptop via a network or left to play by itself. Here is a link to find out more: www.enttec.com/product/playback/smart-light-show-controller/
Looks great, will the pro version work with Qlab 5? Also, is there some way to control my Apurture LS 60X lights, that can be controlled wirelessly through the Sidus Link app?
Question; I just bought the USB Pro, and am in the process of redoing the entire lighting setup at my church. We will be running all stage lighting from a computer; however, if we connect our old physical controller to the DMX input on the USB Pro, can we just power on the controller and use it instead in the case of computer issues? Basically, if our computer suddenly crashes, can we power on our physical controller and continue to run lights from it with it being routed through the USB Pro? Or will we need to disconnect the DMX cable from the USB Pro and plug it into the physical controller in a situation where the computer crashes?
While you can pass DMX through the DMX USB Pro you cannot have two sources of DMX on the chain at the same time. So if you could ensure that the console wasn't sending while the USB pro is then it's possible. However, the only way I would think you can be sure of this is to unplug the DMX connection from the console leaving you in the same situation you hoped to avoid. With this said most PC software options are very stable and unlikely to crash. During which your lights should continue to hold last frame known DMX so the lights will remain on until you reboot the PC and take control back. If you want further help then please contact our sales team at sales@enttec.com
Hello! If a system is working properly, then it shouldn't be an issue. However, systems don't always work properly - which is why the DMX USB Pro includes 1500V isolation to protect your computer. The Open DMX USB (the blue one), however, is designed to be the most basic and affordable device possible, so it doesn't include the isolation.
If I'm wanting to set up a simple light show that loops in Ableton, do I have to purchase the black box? I'm not sending any signal in, but the items will be tempo mapped.
Hi, you'll need EMU to create this light show and sync it as a track in Ableton. To output from EMU you can use a DMX USB Pro (the black box) or an ethernet-DMX interface like the ODE Mk3. Here is a link to the unboxing of the ODE Mk3 ruclips.net/video/GPlcCSlqJEs/видео.html
Hi, the ADJ Link console has 4 DMX outputs built in so there is no clear need for the DMX USB Pro and they don't appear to reference compatibility so it's not likely to connect. You can try asking ADJ if it connects with ENTTEC devices because they should know.

Hey there, EMU supports VST3 and MIDI integration. It's worth noting that PreSonus Studio One Artist doesn't support 3rd party VST integration so MIDI will be your best bet. If using Studio One as Producer / Professional versions it has VST support. - If you have Producer/Professional you will be able to interact with the free version of EMU to test out the VST functionality. - Thanks, James

@@Motoxlight That's great to hear! Thank you. When you get the ODE Mk3 you get 6 months worth of premium EMU. So I would recommend downloading EMU for free and playing around with the free version.
