- Опубликовано: 1 авг 2024
- The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was one of the top selling EVs in its class last year, but the N division got their hands on it and wanted more, a lot more. Enter the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5N, the most powerful Hyundai vehicle ever put into production and quite possibly one of the most fun electric vehicles ever built. With a maximum 641 horsepower, 0-60 times in the low 3's, and a suspension designed to handle everything from the track to your kids school run you'll be hard pressed to drive it without a smile on your face. Oh, and did I mention it comes in well under six figures?

The Ioniq 5 N is a bargain for it's price tag, Even though majority of population can't afford it including myself, All I can say is all these super cars and maybe Tesla are in trouble 😅 Thanks For Reviewing It Travis, Stay blessed 🙏🏽
Thanks for watching! -Travis
You hit the right point. It's still expensive, but electric cars are more expensive than engine cars. This is half the price of a car with a similar engine.
This is the car I want for my daily driver, I'd be way more excited to go to work
It's subtle until you turn on the external audio. -Travis
That's amazing. It can beat some Italian supercars on the track and still have the practicality of a family SUV. Tesla is in big, big trouble.
It sets a very strong benchmark. -Travis
Tesla is in trouble, but not because of this car. The lemmings that buy them will just say the performance y is enough.
This looks and sounds amazing! Great for Hyundai to engineer fun over everything else!
There's a ton of fun built in! -Travis
Hyundai has done well!
I really like this.
I do too! -Travis
EV6 GT needs to get the cooled seats and rear wiper blade.
That would be great. -Travis
No lumbar support is a sad selection, though.
This is whole nother species, EV6GT is not even the closest. At least Taycan can be compared to this one.
This really is a big step above the EV6 GT. -Travis
How is it a big step above the EV6 GT? It’s barely quicker, has about the same range even though it has a bigger battery, and it costs more. How many people are going to track an EV anyway? If I want engine sounds, I’ll drive an ice car and get real ones. And in my opinion, the EV6 looks much better. The Hyundai is leaning towards a boy racer look.
@@michaelc2254 Because EV6 GT is literally, GT car, fast car for long comfort trip, I mean EV6 GT is not legit track toy, it might barely endure single lap of Nurburgring but Ioniq 5 N is not. This is legit track toy for enthusiasts. It can take several laps of Nurburgring because its break system, battery can take it.
What a great, thorough review, and what an amazing deal for what looks like a very capable car.
can someone explain how its more cost effective to make two separate light assemblies than 1? US version have two red blocks that are BOTH brake and turn signal. other countries have a line of orange below for the turn signal. i know USA has minimum light up area regulations but surely the lower row meets that. just look at newer mazda turn signals, they're tiny but orange and clearly visible. plus the science says orange is more noticeable and common sense says don't turn your brake lights into turn signals. seems like the effort to make two separate lights would be more expensive than one assembly.
Americans have been surveyed time and time again and always said they prefer red directionals in the tail lights. The people wanting amber turn signals must be a vocal minority, which is really sad
I don't think there's any argument that it's more cost effective. -Travis
@@james2042 Really?! I feel like there's no logic in that. Then again, most people probably don't use the turn signals anyway... They're supposed to be for safety not for looks. There's a surprising amount of times someone with a red turn signal on will brake in a manner that makes it seem like their hazards are on instead of doing hard braking. It's never easy dealing with that.
It is all about regulations and not cost. If the US and Europe would standardize auto regulations, the costs savings would be huge.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide how though? It’s twice as many assemblies and the engineering that goes into making two assemblies? I get that it must be or they wouldn’t do it but I just don’t understand how.
Waiting for all the excessive dealer mark ups to drop before I can begin to consider this very cool and fun super hot hatchback.
Unfortunately dealer markups are expected with something like this, the trick is to just not pay them. -Travis
I want to hear more about the driving position.. the regular Ioniq 5 sits so high… feel like you’re driving on TOP of the car than in it despite it being so low for an SUV.
Is this any different? Does this sit lower??
This sits lower, yes. It may not be an entirely different feeling but it's a noticeable change in position. -Travis
@@AAutoBuyersGuide Appreciate your quick followup! Good job on the video
The "hip point" of the seat is also 1.7 inches lower
Used LC500 or Ioniq 5 N for commuting to work about 40 miles a day? 70k budget planning on 30k down and financing the rest. Don't care about gas price, focused more on comfort for commuting.
@@Fasty2107 LC500 if just solo commuting.
However, the Ioniq 5 is amazing if you have family or transporting elderly. It’s just so spacious and comfortable, like an extension of your living room.
The Ioniq 5 N is a beast
Has anybody in history ever had their seats pop back up if they weren't involved in some sort of rollover?
Not likely, no. -Travis
Great review Travis, was looking forward to y'all's take on things. I understand the reasons for some of the features to not get added...biggest miss IMO is the digital review camera, it is a super cargo practicality boon, imagine loading up the back with all four wheels and you can't see behind you. Eh, all in the name of performance. By the way, just a little nitpick, I was thrown off when you slapped your hands, the sound was a bit jarring. Just food for thought.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback! It turns out I clap my hands more than I thought I did. -Travis
Only a few minutes long driving scene and all of it on a track? I would have liked to have heard how it rides, especially compared to the regular ionic 5.
This is only the first look
Trust me, I would have loved to have had more time with it off track as well but we'll have to wait till it becomes available for a longer term test! -Travis
👏👏👏👏
17:28 That turn was totally off. Was it because your brakes were Jello pudding by that point or did you get distracted by talking?
I knew someone would notice. Pretty limited track time with the vehicle and trying to talk were the main culprits, the brakes were pretty solid throughout the sessions. -Travis
If my electric wasn't so expense, I would buy a Ioniq 5!
Where are you at and how much do you pay per kwh? -Travis
@@AAutoBuyersGuide Massachusetts, around $0.33 per Kwh. Half is due to "distribution fees". National Grid.
You may still get ev incentives. We can pay half the cost at night to charge.
With a 30% rebate on solar along with multiple discounts and rebates in Massachusetts, I'd be looking into some sort of solar system pronto.
That's a hefty electric bill, about 4x what I pay. -Travis
can u turn off the sound?
Yes you can! -Travis
Wait 2 years and save yourself $20k. These cars are depreciating fast
That sounds fairly typical for all vehicles of that price point. -Travis
Still cant get over the fake engine noise
Not only can go change the sound profile you can also just turn it off. It's the best kind of option. -Travis
Hyundai exceeded expectations as always
Sorry to all the haters who still think Hyundai Kia are junk products. Because they just got schooled by facts
They definitely went above and beyond with the Ioniq5 N. -Travis
What “facts”? The fact that they recalled 300k of their EVs due to…um… let me guess…. FIRE ISSUES!🤣Yep! Look it up sad boy.😁
@@mrgurulittle7000 fire issues are a thing of the past and it’s obvious you’re still stuck there😂
@@naveenthemachine Past as in 7 months ago, not exactly a long time ago. Also it's not just EV the fire issue was with all vehicles including Genesis brand. Korean cars have come a long way, but there are still kinks to work out. That's not to say American or European cars are faultless. In general, Japanese cars still are king in reliability and safety.
@@zxbc1 but why would you force yourself to give up too much just for marginally better reliability? You’d HATE every minute of driving and owning the thing just for that one thing that you’ll never notice.
You’re forcing yourself to sacrifice comfort tech features livability driving experience etc.
Honestly my biggest complaint with evs at this point is how it really doesnt save money on fuel cost compared to a hybrid. Cost per mile is about the same. I had a 2020 ioniq ev, the one that was the compliance vehicle. Real world that got 5.5-6mi/kwh, that is the only ev ive ever seen where it actually was more cost efficient than a comparable hybrid, and even then it was a highly compromised, hyper efficiency focused vehicle.
A lot of the total cost depends on where you live. I have a Model 3 and with my low electricity cost I pay nearly 1/3 of what the most fuel efficient hybrid would cost me. -Travis
@AAutoBuyersGuide I'm in NY, it's 19c/kWh including all fees. Where my mom lives, 40 minutes away, it's 11c/kWh. I actually got solar on my house because it's outright cheaper than their absurd rates, just for a 900sqft house and 1 person my electric bill without the EV is 100+ a month. They also have no programs for ev owners of course. There's places near me that are over 20c and more like my moms where it's 10-15c, and ev programs vary wildly company to company. It's a mess and I'll happily wait another 10-15 years before considering buying something with a plug again
Well, if gas is $3 a gallon in NY, sure. Until of course it decides to go crazy like it did in 2022.
Plus, the only fast hybrid is the newest prius prime. For the Niro it literally is 4 seconds faster to 60.
I pay 7.7c/kwh. -Travis
“bigger wheels” but you don’t show the wheel. “bigger brakes” but you don’t show the brakes…Alex consistently focus the camera work where his mouth is…
It's not like they had a regular one on hand for a size comparison.
We'll be sure to cover all of it more thoroughly when we have more time with it and give it a full review. -Travis
@@AAutoBuyersGuidewhy’d you respond to this comment? Obviously a troll. Alex wasn’t even in the video.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Cool looking car, but $70k is a lot for a Hyundai.
It's a lot of machine and for what it is it's a borderline bargain. -Travis
But it’s worth it
The whole fake combustion engine thing is so stupid to me. I guess it's not as bad as manufacturers adding fake shifts to CVT transmissions because you can turn it off.
It's not going to be for everyone but you can turn it off too. -Travis
Like he said, it's there for it to be "fun". if you don't like it, don't use it.
Fake shifts on cvt's was due to people bringing their cars back to the dealer thinking something was wrong because it didn't make the "vrrrrr-vrrrr" sound of shifting. Then when dealers tried explaining nothing was wrong with the car and it was operating as intended. People of course believed the dealers were lying so the turnover rate was super high on these cars. They had to quietly introduce it so people would buy their cars again
Most. Boring. Reviewer. Ever. Can’t crack even a smirk driving the Ioniq 5 N on the track??!
It just looks cheap. Like it will break just like a cheap toy.
What about this looks cheap? -Travis
@@AAutoBuyersGuide the switch gear, the heavy use of plastics instead of soft touch surfaces. The fake engine exhaust throatiness, just like a Tonka truck.
They seem to have gotten the front seats right however.
This has to be the most boring review of the 5N yet. This guy has no absolutely emotion or enthusiasm.
Thanks for watching. -Travis
