I will go to my Hyundai dealer today to confirm the $56,000 replacement cost of a battery pack plus labour for the regular battery not the ionic five Nbattery
Suzan the story was not debunked I am afraid it was documented by customers and if you do some in not to in depth looking on the internet you can find multiple articles on the $60,000 plus cost of a battery replacement and if you keep your vehicles for a long time like I do or if it is past the warranty of 60 K miles which is a short time in my opinion or I think it’s five years, but I’ll look more into this at the Hyundai dealer today. I love this car, but if that’s what a replacement battery cost forget it.
As someone that was never a sports car guy who can't justify the cost to myself knowing I won't be able to take advantage pf what this car can do, I was still enjoying the fake sounds it made while you were driving it and I would love to do a couple launches and try out drift mode on a track as it must be so much fun to use.
YES! Just takes some time to figure out the settings. But this car is really the car for everyone (albeit not priced that way). But for all that it offers it is priced well. The range will improve as the tech does, but Edmunds has seen 250 miles. It's my daily driver (abyss black) and I just ❤️ it. I am mad that they didn't make the glass roof available in the USA. That is a big fail by Hyundai. But otherwise, perfect. My commute is 5-8 miles per day. I live in the city, have charger at home and have a 350kw charger nearby. We went all EV this year. Wife has an EV9 (we've seen 300 range) and we have solar. So far, so good.
Am I correct in thinking the wheels are reminiscent of the Ioniq5 Premium wheels? That "petal" look, looks pretty close to me? Such an awesome machine, my new dream car!
Looks so cool! Thanks for the walk around. It looks so refined too. I bet a lot of fun to drive. No one has really done a range test either that I've seen. Winner how much worse for a daily driver it would be in Eco. Can't wait to see more!
I was considering a RWD vs our current AWD IONIQ 5 because the amount of power in AWD Sport Mode Is more than I typically need. I do like having that power and occasionally sprint to the speed limit for the fun of it. It has been nice on occasion to have it as a resource for removing myself from a situation that typically I’d have to slow down to defensively drive in. I always thought the N would be adding more of what I don’t need while sacrificing the desire for greater efficiency I want. After viewing your street usage I think it’s more than anyone needs reaching the end of acceleration fun instantly before facing fines. I sincerely hope the cooling improvements and ICCU enhancements make it in to every IONIQ‼️ When I leave a 22 minute DC session dumping in 62kWh in from 0% to 82% I really want the battery cooling on a moderate temperature day to be caught up on cooling and not running while I drive for the next ten minutes. That will give me more range without question. I think better cooling could hold the curve a little longer making a larger battery charge in the same amount of time or faster. 👍🏼 25:36
Giggle! I think the vroom sounds would be fun for a minute. Otherwise I like the EV quiet. Looks like fun. I’d appreciate the better handling. Red calipers!
Okay so My two favorite "colors" are orange, and black/white checkerboard. This comes in orange with checkerboard accents. I love boxy shapes and hard angles. Square pixel shapes are basically this car's entire theme. So basically, I am... so hopelessly in love with this car! I just need the $66k LOL
I feel like that steering wheel should be Hyundai’s standard wheel. I wish they’d bring that more traditional instrumentation as an available theme on Gen5 equipped EV’s. Wouldn’t take much effort on their part and would be a nice way to show their dedication to customers running older vehicles. Heck, it largely already exists in hybrids running Gen5 instrumentation/infotainment.
Needed more subs/views and performance car experience to get the Laguna Seca invite. Boost lasts for 10s with a 10s cooldown after (you don't turn it off). Turn off the simulated shifting to turn off the engine sound and use one-pedal driving.
Funny you mention liking Ska music. I went to see Adam Ant Friday here in Salem Oregon at the end of his tour and to my surprise, the English Beat was the opening band. What a delight. When I get my 2025 Limited, they may be the first band I put on the stereo. I forgot how much I like them. The ladies still go for Adam, still a sex symbol at 69.
You've got a very very very nice dealer -- the one I bought an Ioniq 5 Limited AWD from this past week didn't let me do a test drive in the one they just received, and told me with a straight face that they are asking $20,000 over MSRP for it. This car is special, but not $86,000 car special.
In an alternative universe where I’d pick this over a 2025 limited, I agree that white wouldn’t be my choice either, but I think I’d go for the powder blue. I’m far more excited about the creature comforts of the refreshed Limited than the horsepower and noises of the N. But I’m glad it exists and I’m really impressed by what Hyundai is doing. It’s the one care where the refresh seems to be really trying to fix every flaw. That key fob makes me feel a little sad inside though. So close to getting it all right.
The exterior looks sporty and stunning contrasted with the more futuristic LED design. I love it aesthetically, however I think I still prefer my IQ5LTD interior. Although, I would love the rear wiper.
Great review, thank you! What advice would you give those in the market for those looking at this car relative to the regular Ioniq 5, the EV6 GT, and the Genesis GV60 Performance?

11:46 it's around $8K more but they took a lot of features away from the Limited so when you think about it's more like a $11K if anything. Too bad the US spec lost so many features from the international versions. I guess they think we don't want everything fully loaded. 19:58 why are you a GT hater? 😂 They're the same seats really minus the vented seats on the N. We'll see how you feel about these seats when you have for a week later on. Also I've seen your dedicated GT video. It doesn't seem like fast cars tbh. Efficiency is more of your game which is fine. The GT isn't for everyone and I'm whiling to sacrifice comfort for a more fun to drive car. As long as it has heated seats. 😁 To go further into this I was set on getting an Ioniq 5 AWD limited for the longest time and then I decided to get the EV6 GT instead. I don't regret it at all for one minute. To me overall the EV6 is a nicer car inside and out. While the Ioniq 5 was only nice on the outside for me. The inside doesn't match the outside at all but I'm glad they're fixing it for this N and the 25 coming later this year. I just didn't want to wait that long and I wanted something faster. I knew this N wasn't for me too as they made way too many compromises for the US spec vs the international versions. I love my opening roof even tho it's smaller over the vision roof as well. The seated rear seats was a must too. The sound system is a lot nicer too. The size is big enough for me as it's not as small as your typical compact car or SUV and I'm a mid size SUV fan. Oh and lastly the EV6 doesn't need a rear wiper!
Fellow Runway Red EV6 GT owner, and I agree with a lot of your argument. The EV6 GT seats definitely aren't the most comfortable, but to me, the EV6 has better styling, a far superior 14 speaker sound system, heated rear seats not removed for the US market, etc. Back in March when I heard that the US I5N wasn't getting a whole bunch of features (HUD, heated rear seats, rear sunshades, sunroof, etc.) I knew it wasn't the car for me either. If the I5/I5N wasn't so stripped down for the U.S. market I would be more interested.
@@kimballwhite yeah styling is subjective but I wasn't a fan of the EV6 rear at first at all but the more I saw it in person it wasn't so bad. The EV6 looks better in peeps than pics imo. I got my GT for only $50K a few months ago while the 5N right now is going for $87 at some dealerships. Someone is stupid to pay that price as I could think of a lot better cars out there for $87K. Even at the MSRP of $67K. I also edited my original reply to add more comments on the GT section if you want to read more of my novel. 😊
I wish it wasn't such a side grade over the Limited for more money. I get deleted seat features for the race optimized seat for instance but deleting the HUD is a deal breaker for me :(
They had to do it to cut cost down as it's a racing car now vs a semi luxury one in the limited trim. No one is gonna pay $5K or so more on top of the already high asking price of $67K prior to any markups.
@@BillyONeal kinda dumb that in Canada they have a HUD and in the US we don't. It doesn't make any sense as it's part of the NA market. The HUD alone would be around $500 more and so yes it would be worth it to me as well.
I need to test definitively with a sound meter when I get the car for a week and can compare to my standard Ioniq 5 but it seemed to be a bit louder. Ride quality is definitely firmer but it wasn’t harsh or anything.
I have an Ioniq 5 Limited AWD and a KIA EV6 GT (with basically the same motors as the 5 N) and there is much more electric motor noise under load in the EV6 GT than in the Ioniq 5. And, although the 5 N has even stiffer suspension tuning, there's definitely more comfortable ride settings (even in Sport) on our Ioniq 5 than the EV6 GT. I bet you would want the 5 N on the comfort suspension settings for around-town street use.
The 5N looks like fun, but the I5 is already a thirsty beast without the N treatment. It does look great. Since that is a 2025 I was hoping it was going to have that NACS port and some sort of announcement about Tesla SC support. Even if Tesla sounds like they are backing away from charging.
I was previously looking into buying one of these, but the features they removed from the U.S. market model made me look towards the EV6 GT instead. The U.S. I5N doesn't have the HUD, heated rear seats, rear sunshade, digital rearview mirror, built in dashcam, or glass roof, which is a huge disappointment for a $66K car. Not to mention most of these features are available in Canada. 🤷🏼♂
Dealers are marking up the 5N $15k, right into nicely equipped Lucid Air Touring territory. Drive both and see if you care about Hyundai anymore lolol. I'll take the Lucid and make the engine sounds myself
So disappointing to see what got deleted off the North American version of the Ioniq5 when you compare it to DK's reviews on CarSceneKorea. I think you may have lost the NGB while waiting for the traffic in the parking lot. IIRC , it's 10 seconds after you push the button, not the accelerator. I did notice that the primary display had all the speed limit signs, pedestrian crossing and school zone signs pop up, nifty.
Do you mean on the N. What’s missing? On the refresh I think we don’t get the dash cam and the camera side mirrors are not legal here. I did notice he didn’t seem to have the seat latches accessible from the rear hatch.
Looks like the N is really nice if you're into loud sports cars and you have a space to kick its 4ss. For me, I like my car quiet and I don't even like the sound of the "digital angels" that's mandatory here in the US. And I'm happy with the 440+ lb Ft of torque from my dual motor 4 wheel drive I5 SEL when it's not too busy and I get to leave everyone behind at a traffic light or a freeway on ramp. Unfortunately that doesn't happen too often because of city traffic here in Southern CA. So an I5N would probably just be more frustrating. Gotta say, I love seeing all the videos about it though.
Separate question. Have you noticed reduced mileage range after newest update? Nothing has changed and even with the better weather my range seems much lower after most recent software update
with what Tesla did this past week, we're not getting v4 Superchargers that will do anywhere decent charging performance, and there will be too many cars for the number of dispensers by next year. Clogged superchargers that you have to wait at, that only deliver 100kW doesn't sound like an improved experience for eGMP owners.
Hopefully this has better underbody protection for the battery pack. Several Ioniq5s have already been written off in Canada following relatively minor road impacts, and the pack is not designed to be repairable.
I blew the doors off of an Ioniq 5 with my Model S; finally, some real competition....but seriously, I plan on getting one of these bad boys......just not a fan of "sounds" my car is extremely quiet, i would have to disable that.....
I think if you go back and watch your review of the vehicle, you'll probably get a better understanding of why Hyundai did not invite you out to Laguna seca specific reasons you don't like the sounds and Evie makes that's kind of the whole point of the end. Driving fast you like to drive conservative? Yeah, I don't think they're going to be inviting you out for any n launch of a new EV anytime soon. Sorry buddy
The drag strippers and racecar addicts will lust for this beast. Not I, thanks. I simply want a reliable, comfortable, capable EV, and my I5 Limited checks all my boxes.
There is a reason that EV's do not get a lot 'track' time on youtube; it's because they suck at it. Straight line power is a good thing. Slinging 5000 lbs into a corner is always going to give abysmal lap times.. just saying. Fantastic review of the N!
beautiful car. However despite it having over 100 + more horse power it is still slower than the new Tesla model 3 Performance (2.9 seconds). This starts at $66k before the dealer mark up. The smart money is on the new model 3 Performance as it is far cheaper ($46k after $7,500 fed tax credits) and a lot quicker too.
That may be true and you would have to ask someone who’s driven both on a track but I get the impression from other journalists that this is a far superior track car vs a Tesla M3P. Sure it could beat it in a straight line but It’s not just about straight line performance
Lol... The model 3 is a small car. This makes it cheaper and lighter. Sure it is faster but it is not nearly as practical, comfortable and refined as the ioniq.
@@TheIoniqGuy My 2023 Tesla model 3 Performance is still quicker than this at 3.1 seconds and no launch control is needed. Let's be honest most people will never track their "performance" cars. The most action is on the streets when light turns green :)
Yeah I really don’t know why they felt a need to change it from the previous design. Previous design had a bit of heft and felt substantial and was easy to use blindly with it in your pocket.
Be very careful doing that! If your 12V dies and you don’t have the key with you, you’ll be stranded. As nice of a feature it is, I wouldn’t take that risk.
@@TheIoniqGuy 👍🏾. Fair given their history. Have not yet heard of this being an issue with the 5N. And have not had the issue with the EV9. It is using new tech/software so hopefully that changes things?
Model 3 isn't the comp That would be the Y. Not to mention that the 5N isn't about straight lines. It's about getting around the full track. And lasting a few laps. Which that Model 3 is not focused on.
@@coooooool12342 I wasn't really clear on why I was saying it's Y, not 3. It's the vehicle type… SUV/hatch vs Sedan (Model 3). Frankly, as a buyer, I wasn't even considering the 3 in my purchase needs. It was Y vs 5N, Mach E, EV6 for the size/space and drive. That said, I would also argue that the 3 isn't about the track and hugging corners the same way as this purpose-built track machine that can do streets, backroads and the track the way that it can. Please try driving the 5N to decide for yourself.
@@coooooool12342 And yet I prefer the build quality, drive, Apple CarPlay and handling, space and the style of the hatch fit my use and preference better. Also, a more unique look at this point IMO.

@@BillyONeal kinda dumb that in Canada they have a HUD and in the US we don't. It doesn't make any sense as it's part of the NA market. The HUD alone would be around $500 more and so yes it would be worth it to me as well.
Is the ride quality and nvh really much worse than the standard ioniq 5?
I need to test definitively with a sound meter when I get the car for a week and can compare to my standard Ioniq 5 but it seemed to be a bit louder. Ride quality is definitely firmer but it wasn’t harsh or anything.
I hope its not too much louder. NVH was a big selling point for me on my i5.
@@robg8963same for me, NVH and the “zero gravity “ mode when waiting to pick up my kids at school 😂
I bet you would want the 5 N on the comfort suspension settings for around-town street use.
there is an N option to turn off the sound...
The US verson Does have heads up display right ?
Nope
It only depends on the Korean version.
But can you manually precondition??
You sure can, it has a button to do so
The 5N looks like fun, but the I5 is already a thirsty beast without the N treatment. It does look great. Since that is a 2025 I was hoping it was going to have that NACS port and some sort of announcement about Tesla SC support. Even if Tesla sounds like they are backing away from charging.
Sheet is holy for you.. that say’s a lot about you
I was previously looking into buying one of these, but the features they removed from the U.S. market model made me look towards the EV6 GT instead. The U.S. I5N doesn't have the HUD, heated rear seats, rear sunshade, digital rearview mirror, built in dashcam, or glass roof, which is a huge disappointment for a $66K car. Not to mention most of these features are available in Canada. 🤷🏼♂
Wow that’s a lot of missing features.
Maybe they will do a Watkins Glen for you
Will the 2025 have NACS built in?
Im expecting to see Corvette C8 levels of dealer gouging for this.
Stop signs are just suggestions 😂
Dude. Cynical griping is no way to get on the ins any PR group. Try honey, and hold the vinegar.
Dealers are marking up the 5N $15k, right into nicely equipped Lucid Air Touring territory. Drive both and see if you care about Hyundai anymore lolol. I'll take the Lucid and make the engine sounds myself
Boost buttons are too much fun..
@@Molishiousus versions don't get the HUD for one.
@@Molishious The digital front headlights, digital rear view mirror, back and front camera for recordings , the HUD. Forgot about the glass roof.
@@radbaronYep. It looks like we all have to move to Korea, the south side specifically.
@@radbaron So do you mean comparing the I5 N? I don’t think we know what we’ll get for sure on the limited yet.
Weird, didn’t look like that one had a HUD… mine does. The middle console arm rest does slide forward a couple inches if u need it to.
You must be in a different country. They omitted a few things in the US
Oh crappy. Canada. I got the first one! The HUD changes with different modes, it’s pretty cool.
Awesome
And the glove box isn't a drawer type. Strange
Separate question. Have you noticed reduced mileage range after newest update? Nothing has changed and even with the better weather my range seems much lower after most recent software update
Mine seems to be mostly back to normal warmer weather range

How can it be a 2025 car when it's still 2024? That's wierd. That car though is absolutely nuts 😁👍
Nearly every car is marketed as the upcoming year. Just some weird car industry thing
Model years are typically the based on the regulations they meet.
It's coming in the future but no NACS is a miss for me
with what Tesla did this past week, we're not getting v4 Superchargers that will do anywhere decent charging performance, and there will be too many cars for the number of dispensers by next year. Clogged superchargers that you have to wait at, that only deliver 100kW doesn't sound like an improved experience for eGMP owners.
Why do you want to cripple this car by slow charging ? 99.9% of Tesla chargers do not support +500V charging levels.
Why do people need N or GT cars??
Drive one and you would understand
a need is different from a want
Lol. Why do people need anything nice?
It's fun.
Why do people luxury goods?
Hopefully this has better underbody protection for the battery pack. Several Ioniq5s have already been written off in Canada following relatively minor road impacts, and the pack is not designed to be repairable.
Mechanical seats for a 70k car. Damn son.
I blew the doors off of an Ioniq 5 with my Model S; finally, some real competition....but seriously, I plan on getting one of these bad boys......just not a fan of "sounds" my car is extremely quiet, i would have to disable that.....
Yeah I wouldn’t ever leave them on
I think if you go back and watch your review of the vehicle, you'll probably get a better understanding of why Hyundai did not invite you out to Laguna seca specific reasons you don't like the sounds and Evie makes that's kind of the whole point of the end.
I don't like the fake engine sound. Sounds like a video game.
I KNOW exactly what this car "is"... About $20,000 to expensive...
Video angle disaster
Nothing I can do about my height
Fun fact in Korea Hyundai’s image is very bad
In what regard?
@TheIoniqGuyThere are suspicions of discrimination between domestic and export products and the perception that they are cheap like foreign products.
Can't believe you don't get electric seats when the car is so expensive.
beautiful car.
I wonder if a more apt comparison would be the fastest Model Y
Don't tax credits just take that $7,500 off your taxable income, as opposed to a 1:1 dollar amount off?
That key is terrible, when I test drove the Ioniq 6 I was like wow what a poor design, no thanks
Yeah I really don’t know why they felt a need to change it from the previous design. Previous design had a bit of heft and felt substantial and was easy to use blindly with it in your pocket.
Yeah. I just use my phone and watch with the awesome digital key - even works with Siri. The key stays in a drawer at home.
Not me Iove it.
Still lacking performance wise than a M3P. The simulated engine sounds makes it feel faster than it is. Try a non highland M3P to compare.
Model 3 isn't the comp
That would be the Y. Not to mention that the 5N isn't about straight lines. It's about getting around the full track. And lasting a few laps. Which that Model 3 is not focused on.
@@OrionDC Model 3 Performance is all about that.
@@OrionDC you can get a YP for around 15k less and it has more features. Very close performance
@@coooooool12342 And yet I prefer the build quality, drive, Apple CarPlay and handling, space and the style of the hatch fit my use and preference better. Also, a more unique look at this point IMO.
