Currently driving a last gen Kona and thinking about switching to ioniq 5 PE next year.
iam very interested in the N-line model but no hyundai dealer around me could tell me anything about it.
i feel like i already know much more then the dealers thanks to your videos.
do you have any connections that can tell you when the car is coming to europe/germany? would be nice.
iam super excited and curious. :D
thanks for all your videos you made. always a pleasure to watch (:
Thanks for the shout out! In reference to the question about battery conditioning threshold. They are referring to how low can the battery be before you can no longer activate it. Ioniq 5 in US is currently around 20% where it will turn off but I’ve been testing the Kia EV9 for the last week and I found that it will continue to condition the battery down to about 12% state of charge which is much better.
I actually have personally experienced having the battery down to a single digit before arriving at a charging station (the one I meant to go were out of service) so never suspected there being such threshold. Interesting!🤔 I might be getting things confused, but I’m pretty sure it was less than 5% that Ive experienced.
@@CarSceneKorea But was it still using battery preconditioning to heat up the battery at that charge level?
@@ShadowHolder748 sounds like he still doesn’t understand
Great review. It certainly looks like they have resolved lots of the issues from the pre facelift model. The rear seat belts are annoying and the lack of rear wiper. My other issue was the location of the usb port to connect to wired CarPlay. It was quite a reach to get to. But I suppose they have resolved that with wireless CarPlay.
Hey! Thanks for your videos. Can you disable the automatic captions that turn on whenever I play any of your videos? Your english is great, no need for the captions, ever. They even turn back on after each ad break. Madness!
My biggest gripe with the IONIQ 5 PE is the confirmation that the original IONIQ 5 5W infotainment system will never be upgraded by Hyundai to get ccNc’s improved features. My 6 month old IONIQ 5 won’t get manual preconditioning, the round gauges that fit in the steering wheel, for example.
My 2018 Kia Soul EV received major upgrades to infotainment, including a brand new user interface and CarPlay.
My 2020 Soul EV received major interface upgrades and changes as well over time.
IONIQ 5 will be my only Korean car that’s stuck on old software like this. Very bad feeling considering its price.
The fix of the noise on the back seatbelts left me speechless! It is my bigest complain for the Ionic 5 and NO ONE ever mantioned about that. Apart of that i was sure for all these changes it gets from the original one. Great review on a great car. well done mate
Thanks, appreciate it 🤩
Hiii Carscene korea thankyou for the new video👌
My pleasure!! 😇
I love your video!!
Thanks 🙌
Thanks for telling me about the noise my garage tells me it makes no noise now I can tell them.
Great video! I noticed that the Ioniq 5 you are driving does not have Forward Attention Warning, that is the camera on the steering column to monitor the driver. Is it not available on it, even though cheaper models like the Kona and Tucson get it?
Thank you for the great, thorough reviews.
I'm really looking forward to your review of the updated Genesis GV60 when it arrives.
Glad you like it! 👍
Do you know anything about the base audio system for the GV60? The B&O system is nice but it’s very expensive. I don’t think it’s going to sound that much better but all the test cars seem to have the B&O system.
Thank you.
Thanks for a great video. you mentioned in a previous video that the self parking system was upgraded to number two and the lane assistant was also upgraded to number two have you tested if there is any big difference compared to the old system?
Great review, appreciate all the time you spent putting this together.
My pleasure, I mean it :)
Do you still have access to the old guages or are you stuck with only the new one? I really enjoyed the one that displayed the bars that looked like waves on the sides of the car for RPMs
I really like the PE! It might be my next car in the beige/tan interior.
I want one too 😭
Another great video keep up the great work hyundai and kia are the best cars in terms of reliability and the best technology ever kev from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Thanks! Will do! :)
Thanks! I'd love to see the N line version as well. I like the look of that one because it got rid of the silver details around the wheels and doors. Have the prices come out yet?
Yes for domestic market, it is about $2,000 USD more approximately.
Did you ever use Utility Mode and notice any upgrades to the PE version? IIRC some people were complaining on the original cars about the difficulty of being able to lock the car while keeping the car in Utility Mode and walking away (e.g. to keep their dog comfy). Love the videos, thanks!
Although not included in the video, the utility mode shows how much hours left to be used, a bit more info than before. However, I don't think there is the "Dog mode," like that of Tesla's just yet. I couldn't find any during my test drive, nor have I seen one from fellow reviewers.
Dear @CarsceneKorea, thank you for your great and extensive early review!
What is your impression on the suspension of this PE model, especially over speed bumps and on roundabouts? We have them a lot in The Netherlands and in the first model I found the suspension somewhat too soft leading to being too bouncy for my liking. Has the suspension changed at all?
Thanks, best regards
What is the device you have in the magnet plate next to the steering wheel? Is that to attach your phone to?
Thank you very much for your review. I drive an original Ioniq 5 since 20 months and the leasing will end in September 25. There are several deal breakers for leasing an Ioniq 5 in the future: the turning circle of my 4 wheel drive Ioniq 5 is 12,6 m, which is like a truck and not acceptable in Europe. The Bose sound system including the subwoofer is ridiculous and not acceptable for me on long trips. The consumption at 130 km/h in winter is more than 30 kw for 100 km, which is unacceptably huge. I wonder if any of these three issues has been fixed in the PE version of the 4 wheel drive Ioniq.
Salut!
As someone looking at getting an Ioniq 5, your videos have been an excellent source of information so far. Do you know if you're likely to get the opportunity to do anything more in depth with the new N-Line version at all? Interested to see how that differs further from the PE version, besides the obvious body changes and steering wheel/trim. I've seen photos/renders of the N-Line in a red colour also, which looks excellent imo! Do you happen to know if this is a unique red, or the same as say the Kona N-Line red metallic? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment :) I only see Ultimate Red Metallic on the catalogue for IONIQ 5 including the N-Line, so I assume it'd be the same as Kona N-Line's. It always has been the same color despite the vehicle type when it comes to Hyundai thus far. I sure do hope to test drive IONIQ 5 N-Line, you will see it on my channel or on the community post as I've said in this video when I do!
Besides the DSM, which I think the US cars won’t have, is there any other changes between the Korean version and the US version?
One more question and I am sorry if this has been answered already. Do you know if there are any new 2025 paint colors and if they are discontinuing any current colors for 2025? TIA
Has there been more development/optimization in the headlights of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 model compared to the 2024 model?. 🤔
Greetings from Germany :-)
Hello there! 🇩🇪
this is an awesome ev no doubt..... but that retro look good at the same time not so hmm... lol juniper y lr awd vs this will be a great video. nice vid.
Don't forget, this car's been out for three years already!
Great reviews, any idea when the UK will get the updated Ioniq 5 ?
Well, it's the 2025! model, isn't it? :)
The delay between Korea and Europe is usually 5 to 6 months( end of summer), but they will open a new production line in the US for the US market, so we in Europe won't have to fight them in orders. The other issue is shipping, which has been disrupted, so it may prolong.
@@Dqtube Thanks for the detailed info. Brand new cars indeed take around 6 months to reach other parts of the globe.
Hi, what is the battery heater power?
Hi, thanks! can you actually tell if the new infosystem will be OTA update for 2021 Ioniq 5? if so, when such improvements will be released?
Although they look similar at a glance, ccNC itself also is the hardware as well, so early IONIQ 5 before PE will not get the same ccNC via OTA nor is it possible 🥲
Great video thanks! I am not a fan (at all) of the new steering wheel shape "T". I like being able to have my hand at the very bottom of the wheel when I drive. Thoughts?
I also like that very much, but it is best to always have your both hands at 3 and 9 o’clock 😣
I also like that very much, but it is best to always have your both hands at 3 and 9 o’clock 😣
The Center Isle console now has direct access physical buttons for heating and else; could you confirm if this new arrangement is for all models or is it is only for the top model? PS: Great in depth review! Thank you! 👍
Nope, it is applicable to all trims.
When are we getting a video on the new facelift Elantra N cup cars? Been itching for it ever since you posted the pictures 3 weeks ago
I am terribly sorry, I have so much going on lately - not just RUclips, but my personal life as well - will work on the edit asap!
@@CarSceneKorea oh no need to be sorry! I wasn't try to be pushy or make you feel guilty, I was just genuinely wondering when we can expect it haha. Take your time!
Trust me, that vid is the #1 on the list 😭 I am glad there's someone waiting for my video 🥰🙌
Can you tell us how the sound system of the PE model sounds compared to the first ioniq 5? And how does it compare to the sound system of the Genesis GV60?
I don't really go over audio system on my review since I am no expert, but I always do love BOSE system on Hyundai.
Only half way into video so you may answer it, can you cover the sunroof? Or is it always open? It gets warm here and the sun through my roof heats up my vehicle so I have to close it a lot lol
Of course, thin layer of sheet cover meets in the middle and fully covers the Vision roof. Does get a bit warm during the hot summer time, but gets the job done!
@@CarSceneKorea awesome! Appreciate the reply!
My wife has the 2023 Kona EV and my only gripe is the lack of charge scheduling on the app or in the car for off-peak charging by specific days. On my 2017 Chevy Volt, I can set off-peak charging for Mon-Fri between 12am to 6am and Sat-Sun between 12am and 2pm. I can also have a summer and winter schedule with different off-peak times. If anyone knows how to do this on the Hyundai app or in-car, please let me know.
Do you think that Hyundai will offer rear wiper kits at the dealership to add them to older models?
I don't think so, it won't just be adding the hardware, but also hooking it up with the wiring, steering wheel, etc., so you are looking at at least the steering wheel, wiper assembly (if there is any) and most likely the rear glass, which then we are talking about the entire rear boot, and we are only getting started...I mean it is not physically impossible, but will cost you an arm and a leg for sure.
I was actually curious about the navigation system of Hyundai/Kia. Would you say it's reliable in comparison to Google Maps for example. Great video as usual!
Thanks as always! To be blunt, a third party navigation app which is correspondent to Google Maps here in Korea often do work better than the onboard nav. That's the reason why I have it running on my phone whenever I go to a destination I haven't been before. They sure are getting better over time though.
+ HMG navigation when used on freeway, the car will automatically slow down to a corresponding speed camera! Something that only HMG cars can do here in Korea :P
@@CarSceneKorea Oh wow, that's actually a pretty cool feature. I'm in Canada, and I think I was cruising at 110km at a 100km limit, and I realized I went through a camera. I'm afraid i'll be getting a ticket, something like this could have saved me haha
I'm excited they are using a hand sensor vs torque, I am not a fan of the torque systems. I will say I don't like how often Hyundai remaps the accelerator. Rather than changing the full curve they could change the response time and the amount of regen, but not the position. They could then cap the accel in Eco unless you floor it. This would achieve the same effect without the annoyance of constant accelerator remapping for every small regen change via the paddles. Here's hoping we get the laws for side mirrors and matrix headlights fixed in the US so we can get the DSM and other goodies.
I’m a bit confused, do I understand correctly, that this one gets the capacitive style hand on detection on the steering wheel, but the Ioniq 5N does not?
That is true, I5N must've been under development far before this PE model and don't get confused Ns are always about the performance before anything.
Thank god, they moved away from the heavy white bezel UX/HMI screen, black blends better. Cleaner now
Agreed! 💯
I’ve had my Genesis GV60 for half a year now, and much to my surprise, I don’t miss having a rear wiper one bit.
Maybe it’s because the rear windows have been mafia-grade tinted at the factory?
Some countries with severe weather condition do need them badly 🥲(What I was told by my viewers)
@@CarSceneKorea that’s oftentimes true, but also depends on the car’s shape/design, so the problem is a bit complex. :)
Some car designs cause mud to stick more to the rear window than others, and in some countries, you get more of the wet mud.
If you drive a hatchback with a steeper angle on the rear, or a station wagon, there are more vortexes in the immediate slipstream, that will make mud particles airborne.
On a not so steep coupé angle, you don’t really get these vortexes, negating the need for a rear wiper.
And on sedans. The mud particles don’t end up on top of the trunk.
I remember using the rear wiper a lot on drives in Norway and Sweden, driving cars from various European manufacturers.
These were mostly hatchbacks or station wagons.
I currently live in Ireland, and have never really had the need for a rear wiper here, oddly enough, as the rain just washes away everything on the rear window as I go.
On point, thanks for the precise info! Micro dust also plays a huge role, it gets quite dirty here in Korea when you park the car outside just for a few days or hours even 🥲
Question: on pedal mode, does it use the disk break combined with engine break? And if it does at what point it used disk break when car is almost try to completely stop or as soon as gas pedal is released it’s using engine and disk break combined? I am asking this to see if my disk breaks are in use or not. Thanks
It only uses regen on iPedal. No physical brakes.
I want to be 100% sure of this because I watch a video on RUclips and CEO of Hyundai said it’s combination because at the end car needs to stop . Are you sure that there is no disk breaks involved?
I'd go with the CEO, but the ioniq used permanent magnet motors that are capable of coming to a full stop and holding it, unlike inductive motors.
My interests are so far IONIQ 5 PE/EV6 PE/EV3 or Fisker PEAR/Rivian R3x/Model 2.
Sure do hope to see some Fisker in Korea too.
How much would it cost to fix/replace the battery if it is damaged? Can Hyundai replace individual malfunctioning cell or would it be a full panel replacement?
I have no clue, my plates are full introducing newly released cars running the channel on my own 🥲
@@CarSceneKorea I absolutely love this car but I’ve been hearing horror stories from Canada where ioniq owners have to pay or claim insurance $40k for total panel replacement. This is the only reason preventing me from buying this car.
@3:22 Having front and back recording is better than no video recording at all. Maybe next update. 🤔
Indeed.
How much weight can the new PE model carry in kg compared to the previous model?
Not specified by Hyundai, I think it'd be safe to assume it's the same.
@@CarSceneKorea GVWR should be stamped on the driver's side door pillar, with the metallic info card.
No charging speed tests and info?
No upgrade has been made on the speed itself, except that it remains the same despite the larger battery size. The battery efficiency throughout the drive was 5.5km/kWh as shown in the video.
Does it make a noise to warn people of it's approach at under 30mph.
Makes the EV noise which is mandated by the law, if this is what you are referring to!
Apple CarPlay is wireless ?
Yep, as well as Android Auto.
The new rear bumper design looks weird. I think the old one is more cohesive.
I do like that 5 lines on the rear 😎
Now we get to see what they cut out on the US model.....
😭😭😭
Honda motor group 😂
Ioniq5 2025 still habe Bose sound system ? And what PE means ?
Optional BOSE, PE means Product Enhancement :)
See I was never bothered not having a rear wiper, I think I prefer not having it. I'd rather have a digital rear mirror instead.
Does the Ioniq have Pet-Mode like the Tesla’s? That is, when parked say in the grocery parking lot, can the internal temp stay cool for dogs in the car? Also on the Tesla, there is an animated doggie wagging it’s tail, and displays something like”Don’t worry, I am cool and my owner will be back soon”.
I've seen those on Tesla, yeah would certainly be nice to have. No display feature that is for sure, not sure about the pet mode, but I didn't spot any nor have I with any other HMG cars thus far.
No, and in fact you can't leave the car on, get out and lock the doors. So if you leave your dogs, the car is running and unlocked. It's a Huge miss.
Has production of European cars begun ?
Are those blinking leds on the steeringwheel not annoying while driving?
It is solid light to human eyes, that is GoPro flickering :(
Ioniq 5 N vs Ioniq 5 PE, which one would you pick?
You know, N is very different from a regular model. As a previous Veloster N owner and forever Nthusiast, the answer will always be N for me, but unless you know what you are signing up for with the I5N, I'd recommend the PE.
@@CarSceneKorea and do you think range-wise the N is going to perform as well above their official number as it did with the PE? provided you drive it like the PE 😂
@@devtekve1396 For sure, both cars use the same platform; E-GMP and it is proven by many. However, the difference won't be as great as you would see with the PE when it comes to N.
@@devtekve1396 All HMG EVs thus far provide more driving range than proposed by the manufacturer, especially when you take the numbers given from the Korean market - Korean government's test is notorious for being really harsh compared to other measurements around the globe.
@@CarSceneKorea Would you not consider the N-Line instead as a "middle-ground?"
Can you turn off wireless charging?
I know it is possible with all-new Santa Fe, so I assume you would be able to do that too.
@@CarSceneKorea thanks! Hopefully it can be toggled off
Having 5 screens in the car seems pretty overwhelming.
It's not that bad actually 🫥
what features are actually gonna be here on US model? Lol... many features that were on korean cars are not on US models for some reason. I feel like i should just import from korea lol
It'd be up to Hyundai USA 🥲 Sure do hope many if not all of these goodies will be brought over as well.
Rear wiper interrupts with aerodynamic and the extra battery is only for that so it does not increase the range!
Not sure if there is any pun intended on this comment, but that isn't the case. Much more range than the previous I5.
And with a digital rear view mirror it isn't needed.
No to the digital side mirror
Only in Korea I believe
Esses 1300 klms com um so carregamento?????
Nope, but it did go above 600km, I think it could be higher when conditions are met.
@7:20 "Idle."
@15:40 I'm not interested in any EV with a fixed glass roof. I purchase a sunroof because it opens for ventilation, not because its glass. I optioned them on all my cars long before that transition was added.
Terrible place for a phone charger. Sitting up its exposed to drips and spill from the cup holders. I will also fly out in an emergency maneuver. It should be tucked away in a cubby
Cameras mirror are a gimmick with more things to go wrong should it get broken off or malfunction.
No no no no
Just for reach.
Still only in depressing colours?
Not quite, there's Ultimate Red Metallic on this PE!
Not worth don’t buy.
