Am I right in thinking that the rear indicators are now in the main light cluster rather than in Hyundai and Kia’s regular ridiculous position at the bottom of the bumper?
The indicator position depends on the trim level, the lower trim level s had indicators in the bumper but the premium models had them in the light cluster.
I have a 2021 Ioniq 5 long range and it's averaged 3.9 miles per kwh over 21k. I think that's pretty good but not class leading. I get 3.5 miles per kwh on a long motorway journey. I would hope that they can get 4.5 miles from an improved facelift.

@@sammygirlie345 Hyundai disagrees as they’ve fitted one now. And I agree with them. Never needed to put rainx on any car because I only buy ones with rear wipers.
The BIGGEST issue with these new Kias and Hyundais is the problem with the steering wheel you mentioned. We have an EV6 as well and the problem comes down to the single large screen they use for both the gauge cluster and the infotainment being too far forward. It would work much better using traditional methods with an inlaid gauge cluster and separate infotainment. Again, this is pretty much my only gripe with the car at this point.
I don't like that all Hyundais have this dark gray super dull interior. I have a Kona and the dark gray is just depressing. I hope wood accents and other materials make a come back in cars. Dark gray is just dehumanising.
Importantly, the starting price just keeps it under the £40k luxury car tax. As paying £600/yr just because the Government is greedy, just takes the P.
@@spsmith45 Happy to pay for important things... Look at the hundreds of millions given to the Arts Council. Spending on investigating homosexual pigs etc, £8 million per day on illegals (I thought we were an Island with a Navy?), hundreds of millions for foreign aid and EU charities!! @spsmith45 If the government didn't spend so wastefully or recklessly if wouldn't be a problem. Did you know that even accounting for inflation the NHS has never had a budget cut? The government just wants us to foot the bill for their imbecilic spending.
Test drove the original model in 2021, when there were actually positive stories about EV’s! Lovely car, huge interior, very smooth and refined. However the boot is really shallow and that hasn’t changed so was ruled out as our family EV.
My problem with the display in my 2023 Ioniq 5 is not that the top of the steering wheel is blocking any sight. It is the center of the steering wheel that blocks the lower part of the display. This will then be worse in the 2025 model. Where the sight is blocked depends on how you position your seat, how you position the steering wheel and on your length (I am a tall guy at 206 cm). I think the better solution that Hyundai could have done was to give us the ability to individually change where the different display widgets are positioned. In my case I would like to have most of the information widgets at the top of the display as it is that part I have a clear sight of.
I like it, however when the lease runs out on my current car, I will be downsizing to a Kia EV3, Skoda Elroq or hopefully Hyundai Ioniq 3 (?) i.e. the Hyundai version of the Kia EV3, that is if Hyundai ever decides to make one.
The reason why these cars have to be so expensive is because previous generations were expensive. And as most cars are bought on finance if they lowered their prices to something more realistic that would destroy their balance sheets because old cars would automatically devalue way beyond the GFV's and they'd have to write all that down. It's happening "unofficially" already with EV's getting massively discounted and used cars being fraction of the price, but the official line has to stay on the lalaland level for the lie to stick for as long as possible. The only hope for consumers is in other cheap manufacturers entering the market - which is why EU is putting all the tariffs in place.
How many litres is the (rear) boot size? In the 4WD version what is the size of the frunk? Also more importantly for UK is a heat pump included in every version?
@presterjohn71 In the video he only states 7 carry on cases. But if you wish to create a shortlist of cars, having the boot size in litres makes it easier to compare 1 car with another.
As the interior dimensions have not changed, I’d say the boot remains the same. Boot_ 527L with rear seats up 1587L with rear seats folded Froot/Frunk 57L RWD Froot/Frunk 24L AWD
There may not be loads of 350kW chargers but there are now loads of 150kW chargers so comparing to 50kW seems odd. Because of the 800v architecture charging on many chargers such as Tesla superchargers will (currently) be slower
A colleague of mine has this car and says it rattles and makes a lot of noise (especially on the highway) compared to her old Ford car. Anyone got any experience with this?
There is a TSB for a rattle on the LH side of the boot. It's easily fixed by some 1mm stainless steel washers under the side buffer pads. Also the rear seat belts need to be checked to make sure the buckle pads are against the side panel, not the buckles themselves, as those will also rattle. Otherwise the Ioniq 5 is basically completely silent, except for a quiet motor whine under heavy acceleration, or regen braking.
It's funny how some manufacturers are now bringing back buttons after making everything touch based, it show's that when something ain't broke don't try to change it 😉
For a family car, rear seats are important. Shame the reviewer doesn't call out that the floor is too high/seats low meaning no thigh support. This is uncomfortable for long journeys and makes this an impractical car. My BMW iX3 has amazing back seats compared to most EVs.
I'm seriously considering renting this one or something similar that's not too expensive. It's a competent car, but not exactly cheap and unlikely to hold its value over time especially as Chinese competitors offer betters specs already
They didn't want to have a rear wiper because it would affect drag. Now that the rear wiper will be on all models, the drag is slightly higher, and range is slightly reduced. I guess that they originally felt that range was the most important thing.
I have different settings in the morning when the car is cold and no sun outside and then mid day you want to cool the car a bit as there's lots of sun heat coming through
Nope, I adjust them all the time. The wife likes one temperature, I like a different temperature, so they're being adjusted every journey. It's no a big issue though, even the voice commands can alter the climate control temperature.
Considering the Ioniq 5 is 2 whole segments in size larger than the Renault 5, the two can't be compared. The Ionic 5 is also miles faster, and has a longer range, so can't be compared there either. Even the 2 WD Ioniq 5 is nicer to drive than the Renault, as it's driving rear wheels, rather than the front wheels on the Renault. Looks wise, I think it's pretty even, as both are good individual looking cars.
I'm more than happy with my 24 MY ultimate spec. Having an extra 7kW of battery doesn't make up for the removal of the excellent 360° camera, which was standard on up to 25MY versions. I also prefer the seats of the early Ultimate, and the steering wheel design too.
I can't believe Hyundai didn't upgrade their interior to premier quality like the Chinese EV. If prices are close, the Xpeng G6, Zeekr X and Byd sealion 7 are much higher quality in its interior. Buyers have a wider range to choose now...
Why is your pick of the bunch the one with the smaller 400V battery? 800V 84kWh battery with its crazy charging speed is incredibly rare in this price range and a steal at that price point.
Youve kinda misunderstood how this works. Both batteries sit in the same 800v system architecture. Neither actually accept that high a voltage in reality. The only difference is in capacity gross 84kwh vs 63kwh, usable will be lower…anyway the point is at higher power input the higher voltage acceptance means that the current required to push the electricity into the vehicle is reduced and therefore less heat generation which is better for battery life in the long term. A 400v system can also charge a car fast but will f the battery up quicker because a higher current is required for a faster charge

@@sammygirlie345 Hyundai disagrees as they’ve fitted one now. And I agree with them. Never needed to put rainx on any car because I only buy ones with rear wipers.
Polestar kia etc no wiper it's tyre now for whiners who can't use mirrors and you should try rained on glass does an amazing job
I wonder whether you can get the rear screen wiper retrofitted...
Well, someone has to pay for NHS, transport, social care, ageing population, defence etc.
@@spsmith45 if your getting political you should not forget the immigrants
@@spsmith45 Happy to pay for important things... Look at the hundreds of millions given to the Arts Council. Spending on investigating homosexual pigs etc, £8 million per day on illegals (I thought we were an Island with a Navy?), hundreds of millions for foreign aid and EU charities!! Mate, look after your Country First!!
@@mikadavies660 I see the right-wing nutters and xenophobes are out!
@spsmith45 If the government didn't spend so wastefully or recklessly if wouldn't be a problem. Did you know that even accounting for inflation the NHS has never had a budget cut? The government just wants us to foot the bill for their imbecilic spending.
What's the EuroNCAP Rating for this Car?
Have the Percentages improved versus the 2021 Model with 5 out of 5 Stars?
Have they finally resolved coolant problems? Or at least lower the extortionate service price?
77.4 kWh battery the 73 kWh was replaced on the newer MY23 and 24
Even the later MY22s had the 77.4kWh battery (I own one!)
Yes indeed, my 24MY has the 77kWh battery.
Test drove the original model in 2021, when there were actually positive stories about EV’s! Lovely car, huge interior, very smooth and refined. However the boot is really shallow and that hasn’t changed so was ruled out as our family EV.
Hope Hyundai/Kai have sorted the ICCU issue on the updated models....
Did he say the electric sound of the motors accelerating is annoying?! Surely that’s a huge plus point.
Why do you call a big hatch SUV?
Back seat looks really low. Most EVs still haven't figured out the back seats. The knees up position is very uncomfortable on a long trip.
Can you get the Ioniq 5 only in red in Europe or is this the 5N? I like the car in red but not in the other colours.
I hope those trim options are wrong because I've ordered an 84KWH on the premium level.
Nothing about the V2L? Solar roof? Max weight on towbar? digial back mirrors? I'm lacking a lot of information here.
Cool video!
The lack of wiper is also a pain in dry dusty places. Mines always caked in dust.
There is a wiper on these new models
My next car ❤❤
Looked great till you mentioned the price. Just does not make sense for a low mileage driver.
Noise improvement 🎉
How many litres is the (rear) boot size?
In the 4WD version what is the size of the frunk?
Also more importantly for UK is a heat pump included in every version?
Watch the bloody video.
@presterjohn71
In the video he only states 7 carry on cases.
But if you wish to create a shortlist of cars, having the boot size in litres makes it easier to compare 1 car with another.
As the interior dimensions have not changed, I’d say the boot remains the same.

There may not be loads of 350kW chargers but there are now loads of 150kW chargers so comparing to 50kW seems odd. Because of the 800v architecture charging on many chargers such as Tesla superchargers will (currently) be slower
Seems utterly bizarre that the facelifted EV6 still doesn't have a rear wiper.
Amazing, the first English Speaker that know how to pronounce Hyundai
Is it available with AWD powertrain?
Yes, at least in the US. He mentioned the frunk being smaller in the AWD version so I'd guess it's there as well.
Thanks
What makes it an SUV?
Why do all Hyundais not have a driver’s grab handle?
Seems like it should be there??
Very good video. The presenter is brilliant. Quick question, why do all these Ev's have batteries of 84kw?
They don't. Quite clearly stated in the video that there are 2 options; 63kw and 84kw
The same battery supplier, probably. Offering the latest battery to EV makers.
Looks amazing
A rear wiper. Amazing.
Was that “ seen through glass” podcast on the menu 😂 At least the car infotainment system has good taste…
I love the black shade infotainment system, white/light color is distracting
I prefer the outer looks of this revision.
Doesn't it look like a modern version of the DeLorean? That's why I love this.
It looks ace, but nothing like a Delorean.
What spec is that car ?
Good review and also they have got rid of that cheap looking white dashboard which never looked right with a dark interior.
Still don’t like the Fischer price interior
I build the bumpers in bulk for the ionic 5
I was hoping for Hyundai to add rear air conditioning for the passengers at the back though
If you mean ventilation, there are vents in the B pillars.
That paint at 9:37 looks like they did it with a rattle can...
A model Y/ MAGAmobil is not an option anymore
MG and Hyundai have fitted rear wipers after criticism. Toyota on the other hand have removed them from new Prius and CHR 👎👎👎
2025 facelift model.😍👍🏻👌🏼
It's funny how some manufacturers are now bringing back buttons after making everything touch based, it show's that when something ain't broke don't try to change it 😉
Kinda like the old one better :)
For a family car, rear seats are important. Shame the reviewer doesn't call out that the floor is too high/seats low meaning no thigh support. This is uncomfortable for long journeys and makes this an impractical car. My BMW iX3 has amazing back seats compared to most EVs.
We've done lots or long journeys in ours, and no-one in the back has complained, actually they compliment the space.
I'm seriously considering renting this one or something similar that's not too expensive. It's a competent car, but not exactly cheap and unlikely to hold its value over time especially as Chinese competitors offer betters specs already
That rear wiper thing won't catch on you know LOL
The 2025 rear end is less flashy. I don't like it.
They didn't want to have a rear wiper because it would affect drag. Now that the rear wiper will be on all models, the drag is slightly higher, and range is slightly reduced. I guess that they originally felt that range was the most important thing.
It will make bugger all difference to the range.
Who the f keeps fiddling about with temp setting when driving. Set and forget.
I have different settings in the morning when the car is cold and no sun outside and then mid day you want to cool the car a bit as there's lots of sun heat coming through
Yeah it’s literally the point of auto climate, set and forget🤷♂️
Nope, I adjust them all the time. The wife likes one temperature, I like a different temperature, so they're being adjusted every journey. It's no a big issue though, even the voice commands can alter the climate control temperature.
Don’t forget the USB-C upgrade as well
Hopefully no more ICCU faults and cars off the road for months.
This car? can you provide the source?
Hey man, you have a steering wheel on the wrong side =)))
It's just another reminder why to avoid buying 1st gen tech on wheels and how fast things move along with newer better EVs
Are you satisfied with this model, does it meet all your needs for a pleasant driving experience???
So the same as every other ev?????
If by same you mean different then yes.
Ionic 5 or renault 5?
Renault.
Inbetween those sizes would be perfect.
Did they solve the vibrations on the highway? Were the motors updated?
What vibrations? Our 24MY has no vibrations at all. It's totally silent, except for tyre noise on some road surfaces.
Some definite changes, but not significant enough to give me "buyer's remorse" with my 2024. Indeed, I wouldn't want some of those changes.
I'm more than happy with my 24 MY ultimate spec. Having an extra 7kW of battery doesn't make up for the removal of the excellent 360° camera, which was standard on up to 25MY versions. I also prefer the seats of the early Ultimate, and the steering wheel design too.
You British get a lot more cool EV then we do in the States…..All we have is the UAW TO SLOW THINGS DOWN
I can't believe Hyundai didn't upgrade their interior to premier quality like the Chinese EV. If prices are close, the Xpeng G6, Zeekr X and Byd sealion 7 are much higher quality in its interior. Buyers have a wider range to choose now...
How did you put the links your comment? But yes I agree with what you have said.
@@aravindradhakrishna8660it’s a new RUclips feature, it does it automatically!
Sadly none of them are available in the UK yet.
What I really hate is the bodged on camera mirror screens.
Why is your pick of the bunch the one with the smaller 400V battery? 800V 84kWh battery with its crazy charging speed is incredibly rare in this price range and a steal at that price point.
Yeah, that recommendation makes zero sense. The 800v bigger battery version makes this a properly viable long distance motorway car.
