Minor clarification: the 1:52.5 lap time is around Sonoma Raceway, and I only had 5 clean laps on that day. The car can totally go even quicker, bone stock.
One thing about weight I feel compelled to mention the BMW M5 is 5390 lbs, this Hyundai is 4,861. Make no mistake, it's heavy, but this is the world now.
The key thing is, thing car looks very unharmful. From far side it is just like a mouse. But when it starts running, or when you actually stand next to it, it is actually an evil big mouse running to you.
Even the regular RWD ioniq 6’s are really fun in the canyons. The instant torque just yanks you out of corners. The weight is definitely noticeable though.
Definitely would love to see a review of a model 3 performance with a proper suspension and tire setup. I took my stock M3P to a short format autocross/track event and the only car that was faster was another M3P with basically the entire unplugged performance catalog and 285 wide re-71rs.
Too bad the 5 N's range is so atrocious. The best EV on the market in terms of driver feel and efficiency appears to be Lucid. I'm hoping in 5-7 years they have a compact sedan with the same feel and performance of the Air for the price of a Model 3 Performance.
@@TimurIskhodzhanov Yes, but if they remove it entirely they shaved some of the weight and cost. its an electric car just be an electric car. everything else is pretty spot on to me thats the only negative. same problem as the new dodge charger ev
@@fkhothatchisure, but apparently a lot of people who actually buy those do like the fake engine sound, so I'm sure it positively contributes to their sales numbers.
Gonna try my hardest to convince my folks to trade in their base Ioniq 5 for Ioniq 5 N. My dad is going to try out his base Ioniq 5 at his first ever Speed SF's autocross event this coming February 1st at Sonoma.
Kw and horsepower are just measurements of energy/power. There is energy being regenerated by the electric motors when you let off the throttle therefore you can convert kw to hp. It's just a different way of measuring it.
@@carsonj4031 yeah I understand perfectly how it works I just think it is the most ridiculous metric to boast about I’ve ever heard and that is exaggerated when you’re comparing the acceleration capability of an engine to the deceleration capability of energy capture. Like if someone did the math on the engine braking and boasted about how at 7000rpm their car slowed down with 283hp worth of energy I can’t believe I have to explain how silly this sounds.
That's why I first explained what I logged, and provided a number in kW, which is a unit of power (or "amount of work/energy per unit of time"), and only then converted to hp as that's the unit more commonly understood by car enthusiasts. The point is that it's a lot of energy that goes into the battery rather than into heating up the brakes. Apart from something crazy like a Bugatti, no ICE sports car will get even close to 280 HP of ICE engine braking, let alone 400.
@@TimurIskhodzhanov I say I understand perfectly how it works so you explain the same thing again? this and the fact that you take my example literally shows me you simply do not understand the point I was making. At the end of the day it’s a big heavy ass SUV with fake engine sound and fake gear. I don’t care what you tell me, this is not an enthusiast sports car. It’s fake and lame.
A friend of mine who owns a McLaren and a Lamborghini Huracan (and owned a bunch of other exotics in the past) said the 5 N is fun after I gave him a ride. To each their own, of course.

It would be interesting to know how long tires are lasting in normal use on these electric vehicles.
5k lbs holy shit thats over 2 miata
Love the owner's enthusiasm and knowledge he has for his Ioniq 5 N!

i'm not anti-EV but imagine this vehicle's ethos in a (relatively) affordable compact
lol knowing we have pops and bangs tunes, the day will come people will be able to load Lamborghini engine sounds files to their Hyundai

I hope we get a Mazda AWD electric hatch or cx-50 in a few years with 300+ mile range for less than 50k.
Anybody know what the range is on track for this car? Is a full battery enough for 5 sessions for example?
No, you need to charge for 5. If you charge to 100% you might be able to get 3 sessions and leave the track with 30%ish battery.
@TimurIskhodzhanov Thank you for the info! 🤙🏽
And best part: you don't have to worry about owning a Tesla.
Great car. I want one.

Fastest dyson on the road
Fastest Toaster on the Track...
The ioniq 6n should fix the range problem and 😅notice upon the 5n’s performance.
I'd rather have the car sounding like an electric car than simulate ICE car..
And there's a button for that!

Of regen during deceleration

Do you add this comment to every 5N review? Pretty sure I've seen it elsewhere. Bit of a 'stuck record'...

Sorry but those noises are awful.
