Lost for words. The inner child in me wants it. Anyone over 45 will want the sound. Yes, it's a silly gimmick, but it's for me. A drivers car compared to the M3 performance? But it costs more and it could be worth it. I can even get my bike in the boot!!
    Now to convince my wife.
    Ps i smiled when watching.

Great video, definitely a competitor for the model Y performance. Might be a good 2nd hand buy in a year or two once depreciation has settled a bit and still a few years left on the Hyundai warranty.

I saw one of these in a metallic grey (ecotronic gray, I believe it’s called) & thought it looked very nice, as the red highlights mixed quite well with the grey.

Dear Hyundai: Ioniq 6 N wagon please and thank you.
Although the curb weight difference between the Ioniq 5N & (hopefully forthcoming) Ioniq 6N will be negligible, I'd take a 6N over a 5N any day of the week. The Ioniq 6 is lower to the ground, has smaller overall tire diameter, a better body profile with a lower Cd, I can't speak to the seating position of either as the 5N has a different seating position than the regular 5, and I haven't sat in an Ioniq 6 yet, but being a sedan, it's likely the better seating/driving position of them.

What a fun review and thank you. Also the filming and production is getting better.
What this reminds me of, for those with long memories, is the introduction of the first Audi Quattro. Then the Audi blew away most supercars and stayed on the road as a bonus because of the then completely novel 4WD. This Ioniq seems to do much the same job.
If I had a criticism it would be that I do not want to have to program everything whenever I get into the car again; I just want maybe two or three well judged options that get me the performance I want today.
If I want this sort of stuff it is worth considering how this stacks up on price performance with the Smart Brabuses and the Minis as well as the more premium options, say Taycans.

I recognise every bump and turn on those roads, Sallygap, Military road, across the featherbeds, you can really throw a car around those bends because you can see around them and max out the grip and drift. Used to be part of my commute years ago. Great review, Hyundai made a good car better. Yes I would not spend 80k on any car that did not have memory electric seats. Perhaps too much information options on the infotainment screen, dangerous and distracting, especially for a car designed to be on the edge of grip around corners. Is it really meant to be a track car, or just a hot hatch?
What sort of driver aids does it have?
Does it have any of the following and how good were they:
    L2 lane following?
    City traffic stop/start cruise control?
    Heat pump?
Rear seat have a ski hatch? (ie great for skis and also DIY timber from chadwicks, etc
    360º overhead 3D reversing camera
    A Parking assistant?
4 wheel TPMS display real time tyre pressure in each of the 4 wheels?
    What is the tow rating
Native navigation app with real time charger status?
Glad they finally went with wireless car play, now that I'm used to it I'd never go back to a car without car pay nor one needing USB cable.

This reminds me of the Vauxhall Zaphira VX or whatever it was called. In the days when the Saphira was about 100 hp, I think the VX was like 200. My stepfather had one for a while, and it was the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing. I remember the arguments when we went on camping holidays and my dad would drive like a moron, and my mum would start shreaking like a banshee. I can see lots of people just thinking this is a normal family SUV, and getting burned up at the lights. We’re about to buy the ioniq 5, hopefully, but I can’t stretch to the N version.

Interesting that they also got rid of the low conductivity fluid in this (and probably upcoming Ioniq 5 refresh). This fluid and its replacement is a bug bearer for current Ioniq 5 owners. Expensive to replace with a large degree of price differences across dealers. Also obviously not necessary if it’s been removed for the N of all cars 😢

the issue is when someone buys this new and then goes to trade it in there will be massive massive negative equity. You basically need to put 25k down so u can absorb the inevitable plummet of this car. this will be 45k used next year with low miles

I think the world’s best selling EV is ugly but I have an Ioniq 5 so it’s a personal preference for sure. Expensive yes but not many cars can balance this performance (not just a straight line) with its practicality at the same price point. The sounds can also be disabled too. I would never buy a Tesla if the fart sounds were standard and not possible to be turned off 🤷
