few tips for a replacement of new caliper , don't touch the park brake arm before filling caliper with fluid & bleeding, best with the caliper off so you can move it around while bleeding to get any trapped air out, then install pads etc then fit caliper on vehicle pump out piston slacken off park brake with adjuster usually by lever inside car and fit brake cable to caliper then adjust cable slack as usual, double check for leaks under pressure job done.
helpful vid ty. some folks recommend brake grease between the springs/retainers and the caliper body, to delay water/rust growth behind them, not just between the pad and the spring/retainers.
Hi, this video has been very helpful, but how did you remove the old e-brake bracket in order to use the new one that comes with the new caliper? Thanks.
Truthfully any brand that has done a good job of remanufacturing should be good. I usually look at as many reviews as possible or purchase from a vendor with a good replacement policy.
T Mac first make sure you pump the brake pedal to seat the brake pads against the rotors. Then there if it still needs more you can adjust where the cable meets the brake handle.
Thanks for skipping the removal of the parking brake cable from the caliper assembly itself. Literally nobody online has anything useful to say about this issue. Do I remove the clip 1st? Or do I screw on the nuts or something?
How do I pull the whole E brake cable through the hole to totally free it from the old caliper bracket? I removed the clip and the cable won't budge at all.
@@keepthefaith9474 The parking brake cable on some of the stock EX and DX models do not just unbolt. It's literally all one peice stamped into the caliper. I could not get it free from mine so I ended up removing both brake lines all the way back to the brake handle connection and had to install brand new parking brake lines with my new performance brake calipers. $100 setback, and since I'm an east coast boy I've been fighting rust every step of the way. For rusty bolts, lots of PB Blaster Penetrating Lube! That's my recommendation.
Djinn871 are you having trouble removing the caliper mounting bracket or getting the caliper far enough out of the way. There are two bolts that mount the parking brake cable bracket to the caliper. If you remove those it will go much easier.
Jay Suave if you are referring to the fluid line look at 5:02 and you simply remove the bolt going through the line. You are correct that I could have given more detail. I will remember that for the next one.
Hey man, great vid! Thank you for doing this, it really helped. I only wish you would have captured the removal and installation of the new caliper.
Thank you for posting !!!! 4 years and still helping people?
Yup

Great video thanks it's alot easier to change than I thought I have done front cailper but not rear I was worried about the parking brake spring
Love this. I was about to install the park break without taking off the spring

thanks alot man i love the vid hope you make a lot more have a good day
Hey man u skipped the only part I wanted:(
Awesome Video thank you very much!
Best video I have seen thanks
George Escutia thank you
This helped me a lot! Thanks!

Ben Anderson there are just 2 bolts that hold the bracket on.
did you attach the handbrake cable on the caliper before bleeding ?
@@AronMih yes
@@YourCarGuyDR some mechanics say not to put the cable an until you bled it personally I'm puzzled as to what difference it makes
@@AronMih it doesn’t make any difference.
@@YourCarGuyDR we didn't put it on until the end and it was fine
What are good caliper brands ? Honda civic 2012 ex. My rear seized up. C-tek rotors and akebono pads.

How do you remove and reattach the brake line though?
Did you need to replace any washers.
Do you need to buy them separately if you did?
I did not have to replace any washers.
If my caliper is leaking or starting to seize will that throw on my abs and vsa lights on the dash?
Not usually. Usually the codes are thrown due to a sensor not reading correctly or an issue in the wiring.
Just put a new caliper on my 2010 Si , now they park brake not working properly. It's hooked up and moving but won't hold the car

@@YourCarGuyDR Pumped, bleed and the Caliper is working, Can see the cable and spring are moving, parking brake not working
T Mac may be an issue with the new caliper.
@@YourCarGuyDR Thanks I think it is the new caliper as well. The left side parking brake is moving as well
Missing details. Not sure why you wanted to cut details on a tutorial? Is that against core the purpose of a tutorial? Anyways found another.
JIS, Not Phillips for the retaining screws.

333106 did you ever figure this out I’m trying to figure this party out as well

When you bleed the brake system is the car suppost to be on? Or Motor off?
T V I prefer to do it with the car off but it can be done either way.

Greit video tx
Where did you purchase your parts?
AutoZone
How often should one do this ?
Bryant Suarez only when the caliper is leaking or stuck. If it is still operating smoothly don’t change it.
Where did you get your caliper from? Thx
mustardfj40 I bought it at my local parts store (AutoZone).
I have a 2013 Si...those dang rear calipers are garbage!
You skipped ahead of showing how to remove the mounting bracket which is where I'm stuck :(

Very annoying that you skip the part of removing caliber
Thanks for not showing how you did the brake line wow

This is ok but didnt show much.
