46 seconds and 2 people still beat me here....my lord you MBs
Sexton is legit one of my favorite whiskeys. I found it at a Target one day and fell in love from the first sip. Shortbread up front with some sour fruit in the middle and a deep dark chocolate finish that lasts for days. Delicious!
I timed stamped when the name appears not when they start talking about it.

Thanks boss
I have a bottle of stout caskmates in my collection and I see that as my go to Irish bottle (due to availability in Nebraska) and I had a similar right-brain experience that Daniel had with the Green Spot. The first time I tasted it and nosed it, I was instantly taken back to when I was younger and my mom and grandma were baking banana bread on Christmas Eve before the rest of my family came over. So now whenever I pour myself a glass I get filled with that scent and nostalgia.
I've been more of a beer guy most of my life but came across your channel a while ago and have been trying some of the whiskeys that you recommend and I have to say the redbreast 12 is my favorite so far thank you and keep up the good work
Great video - thanks guys. I prefer Powers John's Lane 12 to Green Spot and Redbreast 12. I also have the Middleton Barry Crockett Legacy, which is a fantastic whiskey, if rather on the expensive side.
Years ago I had the pleasure of my wife getting me a 21 yr. Old Bushmills. I thought it was the best thing I ever tasted. Some day I want to go back and revisit it when I can afford now that I have expanded my whiskey tasting exponentially. But as I watch this I am tasting Powers gold label for the first time. For $30 in my area in December 2021 I'm quite happy with it as a budget whiskey and I would put it on this list
Jameson caskmates stout edition is just a chocolate punch to the face. Love it!
Hey, welcome to Ireland! This and all your Irish videos are just fantastic, thanks lads!
Irish tribe member here, ashamed to say I haven't had most of theses as a poor student, but glad to hear you're here getting to know Ireland!
Green spot is definitely my favourite also.
RedbreaSt 12 cask is quite exceptional indeed. My second would be green dot and last the Jameson Stout. Love them, life changing for me. Thanks , keep growing ! Slainte! 🥃
My dad gave me a present of Jameson Stout barrel about a year ago. I had never gotten into whiskey.
Beginning of the bottle I didn't understand why he gave it to me. But it grew on me quickly and now I have a small collection! Thanks Jameson
For clarity, regarding Jameson Caskmates Stout. Originally stout barrels were sourced from Franciscan Well brewery, but like said demand skyrocketed. In order to keep up with demand, IDL bought 8 degree brewery. It's also first brewery owned by Pernod Ricard.
Rex is brilliant and wise ... and the Redbreast 12 is outstanding. Thank you, Rex. Thank you Daniel for recognizing greatness.
Excellent video & very nice editing with the traveling montage segments at the ending!! Always looking forward to watching the next upload! 🐝🐝🐝☮️☯️
As for Irish I love yellow spot/ green spot and Jameson, however my favorite and adorable as of late has been Tullamore Dew more specifically the Caribbean rum cask finished.
Great episode. It gave us a great starting point for our upcoming Irish whiskey podcast. Thanks.
Awesome video! Loved every minute of it. Wicked good ending.
Cheers!
Red Breast, Green Spot, and Connemara. Though not in any particular order. Thanks for all the good work. (:
16:40 syncing up that press of a button with the music and it actually being the right note is a stroke of genius...
Thanks to Daniel’s comment in another video, I now maintain a big bottle of Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition *AT ALL TIMES* for what I call “mindless, background dram-sipping”. Easily good enough for when you choose to pay attention to it and sniff before each sip, inexpensive, friendly and great to sip without feeling you’re missing something if you choose not to sniff, swish and study each sip. Great go-to for almost any occasion!! 👍🥃
I haven't had opportunity to try a lot of Irish whiskey yet, but so far my favourite is Teeling small batch (the rum cask finish one). There's just something about the prettiness of Irish whiskey that blends well with hints of rum. I hope Teeling can keep this expression around when their stock of Cooley barrels runs out.
Recently bought Dingle, Single Malt, 4th Ed. Small Batch. It's amazing!
Redbreast Lustau is probably my favourite and only discovered after you guys recommended it 💪
What a perfect video for you to release on my 21st birthday. Many thanks
I was expecting some teelings, and I wasn't disappointed. Currently sipping on the single malt finished in rum cask. Very nice.
That green apple in the blend is definitely the Teeling single malt, it also completely dominated my infinity bottle after I put it in........... Rather have the rum cask finish from them😍. Ow and enjoy the trip you guys!
Totally agree with Rex...RB 12 Cask Strength can't be beat.
Just spent a month in Ireland. Teeling's tour was not only the best tourist thing in Dublin, it maybe was the best whiskey I tasted in a month of many tastings. But they were doing a Writer's Tears tasting at the Duty Free shop in the airport (I'd waited to buy there) and I ended up buying three different bottles of their whiskeys. The sherry finished one is my fave - blasts you with the sherry aroma, and almost tastes like a sweet cognac. So bizarre and intense. And not sold in the US, and in numbered bottles in a run of about 450. For only about $60 at that shop - costs more retail in shops there. Pretty special stuff.
Amazing review! I have 6 of the 10 whiskeys you reviewed.
Glendalough double barrel! I've never seen it on an irish whiskey mist but I absolutely love it. It's got a nuttiness to it along with the dried fruit and barrel taste. Maybe not available enough
I had a bottle of Black Barrel chillin in the back of the cabinet forever. Been sipping on "higher end" whiskey for a while and decided to revisit the BB and dang! It's really good!
I still love Tullamore DEW 12 year
Absolutely my favorite.
cant believe tully didnt make top ten
I love tullamore DeW and good old Jameson
and mine, in fact Sunday just Wouldn't be Sunday without my Tullamore lol
Might have to look for this one
The original Teeling Stout Cask is one of my favourites. Casks sourced from Innis &Gunn.
It's delectable and rich, with a bit of kick.
I hadn't seen it at retail since last year. Then lo and behold, I walked into a store just north of Calgary, and discovered a handful of bottles on the shelf!
They also had the second edition (200 Fathoms casks), but the I&G is that slight bit better, imo.
I've only had the Jameson's Stout Cask once, but I was underwhelmed. A little too soft & subtle for me...but it's about half the cost of the Teeling, so...
Tried the Sexton for the first time at a whiskyfest a couple months ago & enjoyed it. Mind you, in that sort of environment you need a punchy product to get noticed (ie heavy sherry, or peat, etc) because of all the other things you're trying, so a 4yo full-matured in sherry casks fits that bill.
Great list, i really love Connemara peated (*heart*) though.
Great Channal, this Bar is a Treasure, keep going please.!!!
Enjoying Redbreast 12 Cask Strength with this video. I'm primarily a Scotchie but this RB is an awfully nice change of pace.
I agree with most.. I would bring in some cheeky peat smoke tho with connemara
yes, instead of Writers tears
Connemara should be top five.
We were looking to dive into Irish Whiskey for an episode of our podcast. This looks like a great starting point for options. Thank you! #BourbonLens #IrishWhiskey #Podcast
Sipping on a Red Spot just after having watched your Patron post of you two heading to your plane home. Safe journey you two, may you have sweet dreams in your own beds soon. ;)
I love your videos - learn a lot from them. They can get delightfully weird; witness: the snippet from 11:34 with a hard stop at 11:50 (hard stop - don't play past 11:50). Lettermanesque.
Awesome video! give me Jameson Caskmates Stout edition all day long. What hell just give me Irish
Redbreast 12 cask is seriously incredible nice to see its number one.
Never been able to find greenspot in Ontario Canada, then yesterday I walk into an LCBO and there's like 8 bottles there. Tried it for the first time, absolutely delicious
Have yet to try redbreast or sexton but between the Jameson caskmates and black barrel the black barrel all the way for me!
I agree with the red breast cask strength, and i never even got to try it yet. Just based on the original 12. Not on the list that i enjoyed was the Powers John Lane
I love Bushmills 12 year, and you can only buy it at Bushmills distillery, which is really cool!
Glad you guys liked the Redbreast cask strength that much to put it as your number one but, I looked up your review on it only because I enjoy higher percentages neat and wanted to see if it was something to seek out. Absolutely not because T-Rex recommended it or liked it. I have 4 types of Whiskey/whisky that I'm after and that's Irish whiskey, Scotch, Bourbon and Japanese whisky. It's easy to find a bourbon at a high abv but, the rest are usually something I actually have to do some research on. Aberlour A'bunadh(already have), Ardbeg Uigeadail and Laphroaig Cask strength are on my Scotch list and I was considering Kaiyo Cask strength for my higher abv Japanese whisky.
was in Dublin a few weeks ago. Did some of the whiskey tours. (teeling and jamesons) but the whiskey museum was by far maybe the best. Would absolutly recommend that place if anyone is ever in Dublin.
Hello all, I have finally found the whiskey in Bourbon, Scotch and Irish that I really enjoy. I must say, sorry guy's but I am leaning more towards bourbon at the moment. You would be proud of me, I visited a friend yesterday that have a lot of expensive whiskey and I mooched my way through 10 whiskeys. Love you guy's. Shout out from South Africa.
Welcome! You should definitely check out the shelbourne bar, McCurtain street, Corcaigh (Cork). 350+ Irish whiskeys in just one bar
They're right about availability, my Teeling I snag locally but my Greenspot I am driving an hour or more for.
I believe Jameson are getting their stout casks from 8degrees brewing company from County Cork. They are also doing an IPA casks version too
As far as teeling goes, the brabazon edition 2 is a shining example of a wine finished Irish whiskey (it's cabernet finished). And the distillery exclusive single pot still is, in my opinion, the best of their line up
I always say, all Irish is good and some of it great! Keep it up gents.
Knappogue castle 14 yr is probably my favorite Irish ever.
I'm in love with the 16
I am with you .... it was such a surprise ... can't be without right now!
@@Skeletor183 Me too.... but haven't yet tasted 16YO
@@antiheroes7972 Haven't been able to taste it ... but look forward to!
@@Skeletor183 It is same as Bushmills ??
This helps when trying to get back into Irish. About to pick up classic Redbreast and saw black barrel at Costco.
AFaceForRadio black barrel is excellent, did you pick it up?
RB12CS is fantastic. But my personal favorite is Tullamore Dew Phoenix, which is unbelievable. Unfortunately you can barely find it in the States anymore.
I'm in the Green Spot camp. Those apple notes on the nose are so lovely. Its the number 1 whiskey I use to convert those who think all whiskey is the same. There is nothing like seeing the eyes of a whiskey noob open when I have them A/B just the nose of an Ardbeg and a Green Spot.
I'll never understand how you can like green spot more than yellow spot. It's madness.
Welcome to Ireland you magnificent bastards! I moved here at such a good time with an every growing Irish whiskey collection (I partially blame you two)
Knappogue Castle 16, Green Spot are my favorites
I've been waiting for this come on let's go!!
I'm gonna try the Jameson stout barrel with a friend soon, really excited about it. I love whiskey and Guinness so this MUST be nice
TH it’s not Guinness barrels though, they are from the Franciscan Well brewery in cork, in the south west of Ireland. And the whiskey is excellent. I have a bottle in my cupboard.
You should try Jameson’s black barrel. So smooth. I’m not a huge whiskey drinker but black barrel really was a great experience. The stout for me was really vibrant. If you’ve had Jameson it’ll be like a heavier Jameson with a coffee/chocolate undertone. Still good as all Jameson.
Great Big Mouth 137 I’m a whiskey drinker, I have a bottle of Black Barrel in my cupboard. It’s an excellent whiskey in my humble opinion. My favorite is Redbreast 12.
I'd love to see a video about whiskey during the railroad days!
The green spot wine cask is incredible. Tellamore Dew is seriously slept on too for a good cheep smoothe drink. Probably the most smooth spirit there is.
yup love me some dew
Surprised Connemara didn't make the list! I'd love to try the GreenSpot and Red Breast Cask Strength 👍🏻
People give crap about Bushmills... but Bushmills comes up with some really good whiskeys
Bushmills Black Bush
My favourite Northern Ireland whiskey is The Quiet Man blended whisky excellent followed by Bushmills Black again excellent whiskey
If you can get your hands on, try Hinch. They make great whiskeys for a good price
As an Irish whiskey lover I would also go with the cask strength redbreast as the best
I feel like RedBreast 12 year has sort of a port flavor on the back end. I love it. You can really taste it and I'm just a beginner. It's the whiskey that got me into trying all sorts of new ones and spending way too much money 😂
Jamison Caskmates Stout for the price is my #1. But a close second is Tullamore D.E.W. so easy to drink and smooth.
'The Knot 100 Proof' is a recent find & love of mine.
Can't wait to see the videos from Ireland ☘️
I'm surprised no Powers on the list. Every Powers I've had was just very nice. The gold label is my go to while the premium favorite is Green Spot easily.
For sure fine stuff that
And how about John’s Lane! But gold label is the go to.
Powers 12 Year John’s Lane Release is my #1, surprised it wasn’t on the list!
Great stuff guys! 👍👊
Never been to this channel but getting major vibes here.
I adore the Jameson caskmates stout. It just takes like chocolate cake and cream to me
RB12CS is by far my favorite Irish Whiskey. I had no idea it was Rex's too!
Sexton (and the comments about it) surprises me because I tried it for the first time recently and wasn't a fan but Bushmills is my go-to
woow i stumbled on a new one fresh today,,you guys in ireland now,,show me the next one
Been waiting for this one 😊 good choices
thanks for doing this one!
wow, really love the format. I have been putting coke in my whiskey for years.....that all stops today!
Nice Wrestling reference for number one. 🙂
Very interesting video with nice (but too short) clips of you getting to Ireland.
Hey, have you ever tried a german whiskey?
I've been living and drinking in the black forest for 4 years now and I just found out a month ago there are two distilleries within 30 minutes.
Already set out to try some in the future.
It shall now be called “Rex Breast Cask Strength”
I've been lucky and tried them all and my one and only Irish whiskey if there was only one to choose, would be Greenspot. For price and value Greenspot everytime, followed by Red breast 15.
Great video
Definitely an Irish Whiskey to try if you can get your hands on it is the West Cork series. My personal favourite is the West Cork - Black Cask which is so good.
Bare in mind the relevance of the category. Its a blend, fairly base level entry. For the price I think its the most diverse flavour at the best price point for Irish Whiskey that comes to mind.
I have to find me some green spot now. It sounds so tasty 😁
Jameson Stout is my go to every day whiskey. You’ll love the new Teeling Stout Cask
We are flooded with gin since the laws on distilleries were loosened recently but like winter whiskey is coming
Just tried the Redbreast 12 year old. While it pains me, I have agree with Rex about how good this is. So incredibly smooth!
I just fail to see how any honest soul could come to this conclusion. What’s smooth about it? It’s like drinking sharpie ink
My top 5:
-Midleton Very Rare
-Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton
-Redbreast 12
-Teeling Single Pot Still
-Knappogue Castle 16
To not have Bushmills 16 and Powers 12 on this list is insanity !!! GTFO of here !!! But sure, bravo for RB CS :D
In the 70s there was alot more than Middleton distillery in Ireland, pretty sure Bushmills has been going for a year or two
