Sexton is legit one of my favorite whiskeys. I found it at a Target one day and fell in love from the first sip. Shortbread up front with some sour fruit in the middle and a deep dark chocolate finish that lasts for days. Delicious!
RedbreaSt 12 cask is quite exceptional indeed. My second would be green dot and last the Jameson Stout. Love them, life changing for me. Thanks , keep growing ! Slainte! 🥃
My dad gave me a present of Jameson Stout barrel about a year ago. I had never gotten into whiskey. Beginning of the bottle I didn't understand why he gave it to me. But it grew on me quickly and now I have a small collection! Thanks Jameson

Great video - thanks guys. I prefer Powers John's Lane 12 to Green Spot and Redbreast 12. I also have the Middleton Barry Crockett Legacy, which is a fantastic whiskey, if rather on the expensive side.
Years ago I had the pleasure of my wife getting me a 21 yr. Old Bushmills. I thought it was the best thing I ever tasted. Some day I want to go back and revisit it when I can afford now that I have expanded my whiskey tasting exponentially. But as I watch this I am tasting Powers gold label for the first time. For $30 in my area in December 2021 I'm quite happy with it as a budget whiskey and I would put it on this list
Irish tribe member here, ashamed to say I haven't had most of theses as a poor student, but glad to hear you're here getting to know Ireland! Green spot is definitely my favourite also.
For clarity, regarding Jameson Caskmates Stout. Originally stout barrels were sourced from Franciscan Well brewery, but like said demand skyrocketed. In order to keep up with demand, IDL bought 8 degree brewery. It's also first brewery owned by Pernod Ricard.
I have a bottle of stout caskmates in my collection and I see that as my go to Irish bottle (due to availability in Nebraska) and I had a similar right-brain experience that Daniel had with the Green Spot. The first time I tasted it and nosed it, I was instantly taken back to when I was younger and my mom and grandma were baking banana bread on Christmas Eve before the rest of my family came over. So now whenever I pour myself a glass I get filled with that scent and nostalgia.
I've been more of a beer guy most of my life but came across your channel a while ago and have been trying some of the whiskeys that you recommend and I have to say the redbreast 12 is my favorite so far thank you and keep up the good work
As for Irish I love yellow spot/ green spot and Jameson, however my favorite and adorable as of late has been Tullamore Dew more specifically the Caribbean rum cask finished.
Thanks to Daniel’s comment in another video, I now maintain a big bottle of Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition *AT ALL TIMES* for what I call “mindless, background dram-sipping”. Easily good enough for when you choose to pay attention to it and sniff before each sip, inexpensive, friendly and great to sip without feeling you’re missing something if you choose not to sniff, swish and study each sip. Great go-to for almost any occasion!! 👍🥃
Redbreast 15 is still my favorite non-ridiculously priced whiskey - ANY whiskey, let alone Irish. Green Spot is my favorite everyday whiskey. I've got a story about it, and I won't bore you with it ... Redbreast 27 is my favorite exotic whiskey - have only had one pour of it, and that'll probably be it for me ($700-$1000 per bottle). Amazing stuff, but can't set the cost aside - hard to fully enjoy.
That green apple in the blend is definitely the Teeling single malt, it also completely dominated my infinity bottle after I put it in........... Rather have the rum cask finish from them😍. Ow and enjoy the trip you guys!
I'm surprised no Powers on the list. Every Powers I've had was just very nice. The gold label is my go to while the premium favorite is Green Spot easily.
Just spent a month in Ireland. Teeling's tour was not only the best tourist thing in Dublin, it maybe was the best whiskey I tasted in a month of many tastings. But they were doing a Writer's Tears tasting at the Duty Free shop in the airport (I'd waited to buy there) and I ended up buying three different bottles of their whiskeys. The sherry finished one is my fave - blasts you with the sherry aroma, and almost tastes like a sweet cognac. So bizarre and intense. And not sold in the US, and in numbered bottles in a run of about 450. For only about $60 at that shop - costs more retail in shops there. Pretty special stuff.
The original Teeling Stout Cask is one of my favourites. Casks sourced from Innis &Gunn. It's delectable and rich, with a bit of kick. I hadn't seen it at retail since last year. Then lo and behold, I walked into a store just north of Calgary, and discovered a handful of bottles on the shelf! They also had the second edition (200 Fathoms casks), but the I&G is that slight bit better, imo. I've only had the Jameson's Stout Cask once, but I was underwhelmed. A little too soft & subtle for me...but it's about half the cost of the Teeling, so...
The green spot wine cask is incredible. Tellamore Dew is seriously slept on too for a good cheep smoothe drink. Probably the most smooth spirit there is.
TH it’s not Guinness barrels though, they are from the Franciscan Well brewery in cork, in the south west of Ireland. And the whiskey is excellent. I have a bottle in my cupboard.
You should try Jameson’s black barrel. So smooth. I’m not a huge whiskey drinker but black barrel really was a great experience. The stout for me was really vibrant. If you’ve had Jameson it’ll be like a heavier Jameson with a coffee/chocolate undertone. Still good as all Jameson.
Great Big Mouth 137 I’m a whiskey drinker, I have a bottle of Black Barrel in my cupboard. It’s an excellent whiskey in my humble opinion. My favorite is Redbreast 12.
Hello all, I have finally found the whiskey in Bourbon, Scotch and Irish that I really enjoy. I must say, sorry guy's but I am leaning more towards bourbon at the moment. You would be proud of me, I visited a friend yesterday that have a lot of expensive whiskey and I mooched my way through 10 whiskeys. Love you guy's. Shout out from South Africa.
I like the Sexton because I found a store selling it for $16.99 a bottle. It's a perfect budget drink and maybe boring but nothing really wrong with it.
I haven't had opportunity to try a lot of Irish whiskey yet, but so far my favourite is Teeling small batch (the rum cask finish one). There's just something about the prettiness of Irish whiskey that blends well with hints of rum. I hope Teeling can keep this expression around when their stock of Cooley barrels runs out.
RB12CS is fantastic. But my personal favorite is Tullamore Dew Phoenix, which is unbelievable. Unfortunately you can barely find it in the States anymore.
Welcome to Ireland you magnificent bastards! I moved here at such a good time with an every growing Irish whiskey collection (I partially blame you two)
Glendalough double barrel! I've never seen it on an irish whiskey mist but I absolutely love it. It's got a nuttiness to it along with the dried fruit and barrel taste. Maybe not available enough
I'm in the Green Spot camp. Those apple notes on the nose are so lovely. Its the number 1 whiskey I use to convert those who think all whiskey is the same. There is nothing like seeing the eyes of a whiskey noob open when I have them A/B just the nose of an Ardbeg and a Green Spot.
What did YOU bring back? I was in Ireland last month, and came home with Red Spot, Jameson Distillery Reserve, Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy, and Bushmills Streamship Collection Sherry Cask.
Haven’t opened it yet. I won’t return to Ireland for a couple of years so I have to consume responsibly (aka SLOWLY) because I won’t be able to replace anything until then
Tried the Sexton for the first time at a whiskyfest a couple months ago & enjoyed it. Mind you, in that sort of environment you need a punchy product to get noticed (ie heavy sherry, or peat, etc) because of all the other things you're trying, so a 4yo full-matured in sherry casks fits that bill.
Sipping on a Red Spot just after having watched your Patron post of you two heading to your plane home. Safe journey you two, may you have sweet dreams in your own beds soon. ;)
As far as teeling goes, the brabazon edition 2 is a shining example of a wine finished Irish whiskey (it's cabernet finished). And the distillery exclusive single pot still is, in my opinion, the best of their line up
Bought some in France which had been stocked by accident and was sold at a stupidly honest price. Now it is stocked on a regular basis and I drink too much of it. They do sell Redbreast here, but many people here work in Geneva and earn three times as much as French punters. Ls frontaliers they are called. I am thought to belong to that tribe. Unfortunately unlike them I don't earn an obscene lot of money. Still, long live Jameson!
I saw the top 10 Irish whiskeys and immediately thought, Jameson Special Reserve Black Barrel has to be on here. Many people think the black barrel that you see on the shelves is the same thing but its not really even close to me. I wish they still made the Special Reserve because its a special whiskey.
I’m still pretty green when it comes to whiskey, so that may be why Irish whiskey is my favorite right now. Jameson stout has been my go to especially if I’m fishing, cause I’m definitely not gonna bring my $70 bottle of Redbreast 12 n have a few or more.. Btw I like Greenspot better than Yellowspot, especially since green is roughly half the price as yellow..
I agree with the red breast cask strength, and i never even got to try it yet. Just based on the original 12. Not on the list that i enjoyed was the Powers John Lane

I've been lucky and tried them all and my one and only Irish whiskey if there was only one to choose, would be Greenspot. For price and value Greenspot everytime, followed by Red breast 15.
okay, this was fun watching. thank you. WHEN you're not ranking, but, just sitting back, listening to some good music, or, visiting with friends, how do you drink? Surely, you don't take that little, delicate glass, a put hardly a sip in it, then, drink it. Don't you get a larger glass, put a bigger piece of ice in it, fill it half to 3/4 full, and enjoy? Seriously, how do you comfort drink?
I was in Dublin for 4 days over this past easter, I fell in love with the city, the people, the bar culture and the Whisky. Went to Jameson on Bow St. and it was a great experience. Fell in love with the Jameson and Powers Whisky.

yes, instead of Writers tears
Connemara should be top five.

I still love Tullamore DEW 12 year
Absolutely my favorite.
cant believe tully didnt make top ten
I love tullamore DeW and good old Jameson

Might have to look for this one
Totally agree with Rex...RB 12 Cask Strength can't be beat.
Redbreast 12 cask is seriously incredible nice to see its number one.

Enjoying Redbreast 12 Cask Strength with this video. I'm primarily a Scotchie but this RB is an awfully nice change of pace.
I adore the Jameson caskmates stout. It just takes like chocolate cake and cream to me
I always say, all Irish is good and some of it great! Keep it up gents.
16:40 syncing up that press of a button with the music and it actually being the right note is a stroke of genius...
People give crap about Bushmills... but Bushmills comes up with some really good whiskeys
Bushmills Black Bush
The original Teeling Stout Cask is one of my favourites. Casks sourced from Innis &Gunn.

yup love me some dew
Just tried the Redbreast 12 year old. While it pains me, I have agree with Rex about how good this is. So incredibly smooth!
I just fail to see how any honest soul could come to this conclusion. What’s smooth about it? It’s like drinking sharpie ink
Awesome video! give me Jameson Caskmates Stout edition all day long. What hell just give me Irish
I'm gonna try the Jameson stout barrel with a friend soon, really excited about it. I love whiskey and Guinness so this MUST be nice
TH it’s not Guinness barrels though, they are from the Franciscan Well brewery in cork, in the south west of Ireland. And the whiskey is excellent. I have a bottle in my cupboard.

My favourite Northern Ireland whiskey is The Quiet Man blended whisky excellent followed by Bushmills Black again excellent whiskey
If you can get your hands on, try Hinch. They make great whiskeys for a good price
I believe Jameson are getting their stout casks from 8degrees brewing company from County Cork. They are also doing an IPA casks version too
To not have Bushmills 16 and Powers 12 on this list is insanity !!! GTFO of here !!! But sure, bravo for RB CS :D

It shall now be called “Rex Breast Cask Strength”
They're right about availability, my Teeling I snag locally but my Greenspot I am driving an hour or more for.
I love Bushmills 12 year, and you can only buy it at Bushmills distillery, which is really cool!
RB12CS is fantastic. But my personal favorite is Tullamore Dew Phoenix, which is unbelievable. Unfortunately you can barely find it in the States anymore.
Jamison Caskmates Stout for the price is my #1. But a close second is Tullamore D.E.W. so easy to drink and smooth.

As far as teeling goes, the brabazon edition 2 is a shining example of a wine finished Irish whiskey (it's cabernet finished). And the distillery exclusive single pot still is, in my opinion, the best of their line up
For the price, the Jameson Caskmates Stout edition is so goddamn tasty.

Hey, welcome to Ireland! This and all your Irish videos are just fantastic, thanks lads!
Redbreast 12 and Greenspot are personal favourites. Must have good taste.
is great, but redbreast 12 cask strength and yellow spot is greater !
