Awesome video... Redbreast is my wife's favorite daily sipper; We got a bottle of the 27 in Ireland for our anniversary, and wow we couldn't agree more with the description. It is so unique; we call it dried fruit cake, ripened stone fruit, grapefruit deliciousness. Thank you for the video, we really enjoyed it!

I'm so glad that you did this video. Redbreast is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Irish Whisky! Before the tariffs took effect, I could get a bottle of the 12 yr for $35 on sale. Now it's approximately $60 on sale in my area. I'm soooo glad I bought 3 bottles back when I did! 👍
After hearing your reviews of the other bottles, I may have to add one or two of them to my collection. Thank you!

The cask strength is easily the best value, and possibly the best tasting one on the list. Butterscotch comes through lightly, and it'll hit you with shortbread cookies with a little nuttiness, and it goes through a dark fruit phase, too. Beautiful whiskey, and easy to find

Please keep up the great reviews and by the way you have an awesome bar set up. Over time I have come to prefer Irish single pot still whiskey. Budget in mind, in my area RB 12 $70 (honey and fruiter notes) and Powers John's Lane $60 (vanilla, honey and black pepper notes) never disappoint. For what it's worth I usually have a few unsalted peanuts or walnuts before tasting a whiskey and think it helps the first sip taste better.

Redbreast 12 is my "Home Whisky" like a lot of people who have Home Food or comfort food. I have a lot of whisky in my vault that costs a lot more than Redbreast and I've purchased for a lot of reasons but the one I go to when I don't want to think too hard about it is Redbreast 12. I thought that after I learned about all kinds of whiskys and my palate broadened it wouldn't hold up anymore but it does. I like it more than the other, more expensive Redbreasts too.
The Cask Strength is non-chill filtered because above 46% you don't need it. It isn't because it's somehow a higher quality product or anything, it's just the side affect of higher proof. I bought the Redbreast 12 and the 12 CS and drank both bottles back to back. At the end I still couldn't decide which I liked better and I figured if I didn't know than why spend the extra $30? So I don't.
As for cost, the Redbreast 12 is a world beater. I think IDL keeps the price artificially low as it's the door to the rest of their products.

Great review of one of the best Irish whiskey's.. I have the 12-27 as well, each have that butter cookie, and cereal base. The 12 is like Christmas cake in a glass, and Cask Strength is so hard to beat. The 15, is a great after dinner dram, a very underrated pour. The 21 has peaches & guava exploding out of the glencarin. The 27 is on another level, one of the best noses ever. Lots of dark berries & jam notes.

For scotch intros, Balvenie 12 double wood is a moderately priced option. But the bottle I recommend to everyone is the Bunnahabhain 12. Kurt mentioned the 18 as the “scotch to impress”. It’s not peated, and has a nice toffee impression so you won’t get that turpentine scent, as people often say about Islays.
It is more expensive but I promise if you already drink whiskey, you won’t regret it.

I am a huge Midleton fan boy. It is my favorite distillery with BT a close second.
Redbreast is my favorite whiskey lineup. Always have the first four open on my bar. The 15 yr and the 12 yr CS are my two favorite.
    The 15 is $135
    21 yr is $390
    27 yr is $580
Dream Cask (do not have and not sold in US by Midleton) but cheapest I have seen was $1,200 but just looked and now tremendously more.

      I have a Knapoggue 12 but that’s it.

@@slbdrinks the 12 is always open on my bar. My Irish Whiskey Club did a Zoom tasting with the Knappogue Castle Midleton Blender lest week. We tasted almost the full lineup
The single malts 12yr, 14yr, 16yr a never before sampled Midleton 23yr port cask strength and the 72 yr old bottle Knappogue Castle 1951 which is a 36 yr old single pot stilled. What a great evening

Great take as always, guys! Wondering if you have thought about tasting in reverse order...rarest/expensive to common/cheaper. I wonder if your mind is pre-conditioned to higher expectations as you go along?

Love the review of Irish, always fun to see bourbon drinkers reactions to “malt whiskies. We are tasting through a bunch of Irish whiskies at different age ranges this month, and got to say as a bourbon drinker, I am liking them more than I would have thought.

Redbreast has become my favorite whiskey in the world. I bought it on a whim a few years ago and have collected all but 4 of the series. Missing the Kentucky Oak, 21 year, 27 year and the new Tawny Port.

First time I’ve seen this and great video. The 12 year cast strength is an awesome poor and agree. The 15 is smooth and delicious. Heading to Dublin Ireland this weekend and going to drink my fair share while I’m there. Keep up the great videos. I hope Trenton has bought that 12 year cast strength.

Redbreast is one of my favorites. I haven't seen - much less purchased - a 27 anywhere. If I ever do, I'll probably buy it to have the experience. RB is just fantastic whiskey.

I am a bourbon/rye drinker, but I always have a couple bottles of Irish whiskey on hand. I love the 12 year red breast but a couple weeks ago I grabbed a bottle of the cask strength version and it’s on another level. I will always have Red Breast cask strength on my shelf right next to the Powers Irish whiskey. Cheers. 🥃

@Marcel Johnson haha not as a full-fledged ongoing incorporation into the channel but I actually like hearing how trent is curious about this test since it's so far from his normal realm. Just a quick 1 episode hit of each type and maybe a wrap up global comparison would be cool. Assuming most the viewers are more bourbon-centric, I think it would be great to bring that perspective to compare and contrast bourbon vs other whiskies. They were talking a bit at the end there about the different types of sweetness and how these aren't vanilla/caramel bombs like most quintessential bourbon.

Loved this one! Very nice rundown of the various offerings from Redbreast. I have been interested in trying something from them but had no idea where to start. This gives me a great bit of knowledge to use when I go to the liquor store to pick up a bottle. Since my previous experience with Irish whiskey has just been the basic Jamesons and Bushmills, I am really looking forward to getting a bottle of Redbreast and enjoying it. Thanks for a great video!!!

I havent drank irish whiskey in years. Even then it was jameson, jameson 18, and i cant remember if i had any others. St. Patricks day i tried high and wicked, north cross i think it was (it was pretty good), and green spot, which i really liked. I been wanting to try more irish whiskeys, redbreast being one of them.
