One that's missing that is very good is the Caskmates Stout Edition. Really nice caramel and coffee flavour. Also, the one often considered the best value of the range, The Crested. A considerable step up over the standard Jameson at an affordable price.
They do the black at cask strength at the distillery….and you get to fill the bottle off the barrel yourself….i just did it yesterday it was a great experience….
I tried to have a buddy pick me one up while he was over there. He didn't have time and I'm kind of glad I saved the $200. Not really something I need when Red Breast Cask Strength exists, but I am curious
My grandfather passed away two years ago this month. Jameson was his absolute favorite whiskey and he had is every night after dinner. This video hit a little closer than I expected and i'm happy you both enjoyed it!
The crested is quite good, my wife brought back a bottle from her trip to Ireland. Big sad about the availability, though I'd probably definitely pick up another bottle if I was across the pound
I was fortunate that my daughter picked me up a Jameson 18 year Bow Street in Ireland. For at least the last 6 months it is finished in Bourbon barrels. I love it!!
There are many Jameson labels we never see here in the U.S., you have to get them from overseas. The Single Pot Still is one of them. There are a couple that pop up here, such as the Stout finished Caskmates (that along with the IPA you tasted is reportedly discontinued), Black Barrel Proof (50% ABV), The Whiskey Maker's Series of The Blender's Dog, The Cooper's Croze, and The Distiiller's Safe, some that are available in Travel Retail such as Triple Triple, a cask strength version of the 18yo 'Bow Street Edition', a 21yo, a 22yo, Jameson Remastered which is a 15yo SPS, and Jameson Remixed Caribbean Beats, finished in Rum Casks. Several more I could mention. 26 different bottles in my collection. For other distilleries/brands, try Powers, Redbreast, Spot Whiskies and Method & Madness, all Midleton, Bushmills, Teeling, Clonakilty, West Cork, Writer's Tears, Egan's, Dingle, Dunville's. There are probably 120 or so Irish Whiskies generally available across the U.S., but hundreds more available in Ireland.
Optimus Prime: 2oz Jameson, 2oz Red Bull, Splash of Grenadine. Jameson and Ginger Ale is great and Jameson with Cranberry Ginger Ale is even bettter! Sincerely, A certified Ginger of Irish Descent
They do the Black Barrel at 50% and cask strength, and I think the 50% is the best of the three options. If you want to experiment with other whiskeys from the Midleton distillery, try the powers Gold Label. Regular Jameson is about 70% grain and 30% pot still, while the Gold Label is about 70% pot still and 30% grain!
Love the video as always! One thing though similar to the Crown Royal video, the lovely notes about each bottle (PLEASE keep doing this!) are covered by subtitles if watching with CC enabled. Maybe consider another location?
Jamison is a distillery in the same manner as many bourbon brands were purchased and placed under an umbrella name. Middleton is a large distillery. It makes several brands. Worth looking into the history of Irish Whisky. If I remember correctly, single pot still means a blend of malted and unmalted barely (legally some minimum of malted) made in one pot still from one distillery.
Yes. It's like Jim Beam. Bookers, Knob Creek, Old Grandad etc... aren't sourced just because the name on the bottle isn't Jim Beam. Jameson is the largest brand of Midleton. It's not coming from different places that Midleton doesn't own. They have full control over the whole process unlike a brand that sources.
My brother dislikes Jameson, so I never even tried it until my local liquor store suggested the Black Barrel after seeing the other bourbons I was buying. I now always have a bottle of Black Barrel in supply. Good stuff neat, on the rocks, or even in a few cocktails.
I make a Jameson cocktail called Irish Lemonade. Great for summer. 2 oz Jameson, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 6 oz lemonade, 3 oz club soda (recipe calls for lemon club soda but I use regular), garnish with mint leaves (recipe also mentions pineapple or rosemary leaves but I like mint best) Combine whiskey, simple syrup lemonade, and ice in a cocktail shaker, then shake for a couple seconds. Pour over ice then top with club soda. Use a tall glass like a highball.
Agree with the Mr. Black coffee liqueur shout-out. I often make a very simple bourbon and Mr. Black cocktail - with a few dashes of black walnut bitters and/or orange angostura bitters.
The cold brew mixed with cream soda is great. Didn’t mind my IPA but drank it on the rocks with an IPA to the side. Regular and Black Barrel (favorite) are ones I will normally rotate in. Jameson and ginger ale is a fantastic summer drink
I've come to love Irish whiskey over the years, moreso than Kentucky bourbon vs Tennessee whiskey. I find it to be so much more smooth and easy on the pallet. I visited Ireland in June and had the pleasure of touring the Jameson Distillery, among 2 other Irish whisky tours. It was great! Most of the Orange, IPA, Cold, etc. are only popular here in the US. They really only drink standard Jameson in Ireland. My overall favorite Irish whiskey is the Spot brand, specifically Yellow Spot. I don't know if you've reviewed the Spots (Green, Yellow, Blue, Red and Gold) but I'd love to see that! (the Gold 13 is a limited release, which I had the luck of getting while visiting - my 2nd favorite). Love the channel, gentlemen!
I just got a bottle of Jameson Triple Triple, which adds a malaga wine cask aging to the normal Jameson process. I'm not a huge fan of Jameson but wow, this stuff is so smooth that it's almost like whiskey flavored water. I don't mean that as a knock, it's really really good.
Irish coffee: get a see through footed mug. put in 1 tbl spoon brown sugar 1.5 oz Jameson Irish whiskey add hot coffee leave 1 inch head room at the top put some whipped cream floated on the top.
I like the standard Jameson, which is all I've had from that distillery. I know a guy at work who says the Black Barrel is even better, and eventually I want to try it. 12:20 My mom had a red can she kept her sewing stuff in. And yep, she had a tomato pincushion. 🙂
2 oz. Jameson's Irish Whisky 2 tsp. clover honey 2 - 12 oz. bottles Ginger Beer I like Reed's Pour 1 oz. whisky in a tall glass and add a teaspoon of honey. Stir to combine. Add ice. Pour the ginger beer over the ice and fill the glass. Stir and sip!!
Thx guys, really like this review. I almost never have Jameson because I generally don’t like the citrus notes in any “whiskeys”. So I have stayed away from Jamesons. Nice to have some to try.
Bartender here. For cocktails I would definitely opt for a Powers in place of Jameson. A Tipperary is an excellent option for that. Out of that lineup the higher end Jameson offerings might do the trick though.
Thanks for the video- I've been curious about some of these... I got ahold of a little sampler a while back which included tiny bottles of the original, black barrel, stout, and ipa editions. It was fun for me to taste them back to back. I liked black barrel the most and have added it to my "always on the shelf" list. It's a nice neat sipper for me once in a while when I'm looking for something different. Cheers!
I've honestly heard people say that both the orange and cold brew variations are good mixers. I'd definitely give it a shot, Kurt! Also, sour beers are quite tasty. But then again, I also love a good, hoppy IPA. 😊
Jameson used to be my favorite drink. I drank it for years, then someone bought me the black, and I decided to try some bourbons because I liked it. I haven’t bought Jameson now in like 5 years because I’m loving bourbon. It’s a good place to get into whiskey, but bourbon just offers so much more. But…. Since your asking, you should do a Bushmill’s distillery review. Their 10 year is the best Irish I’ve ever had. And their Red(bourbon barrel finished) is inincredible. They have a rum cask finished that also really good.

Irish Maid Muddle 2 cucumber slices 2 oz Jameson 1/2 oz elderflower liqueur 3/4 oz lemon juice 3/4 oz simple syrup Shake, fine strain over ice, garnish with cucumber slice
Try to find the Jameson finished in Stout Barrels. And, if you use the Jameson Cold Brew with equal parts of Kaluha, Bailey's, and milk, it's an amazing chocolate milk treat for adults. Sometimes, you need to add a little more milk, and whipped cream helps with the presentation. If I'm using the whipped cream, I'll use a little bit of chocolate powder to sprinkle across the top.
I bought the orange one specifically for Old Fashioned experimentation thinking it would have hints of orange but it tastes ENTIRELY like the generic "orange drink" those of us of a certain age were served as kids. So it remains just another place holder taking up space in my bar.
New sub. here. Love the videos. I’m a huge fan of cold brew for a mid afternoon or after dinner drink. I usually do 2 oz. Jameson cold brew mixed with a few ounces of regular cold brew coffee along with a splash of cream or even chocolate milk.
Nice to see you guys review the Jamesons, weirdly I’ve done the same and it’s scheduled for posting in a couple of hours! 😂 I didn’t have the 18 year though so that was nice to hear your take on that but I did manage to pull a few others out. Great video guys! 💙
Loved the fun facts popping up in the bottom corner! Super neat little show of production value, guys. But if you could make the text a bit bigger itd be greatly appreciated!
Irish Mule… Also depends on the style of IPA in terms of those pine notes etc. (Used to brew beer and have done some IPAs that are more citrus forward. Nice review!
Jameson is great because it is so widely available. If you are camping or staying somewhere fairly remote you can almost always find it at a grocery store or gas station store. It is a solid decent whisky to sip around a campfire.
The distillery at Midleton has a cask strength version of the Black Barrel.....it's an incredible bottle. They vary in proof from barrel to barrel but mine seems pretty average at 121 proof. Get one if you can!
Hello from down under! That single pot still has just arrived in Australia, it could've been a distillery only but that have distributed globally now. Awesome stuff! If you really like the barrel influenced flavour profile from the Single Pot, defiantly try Method and Madness range, owned by Jameson (Midleton) and is essentially Jameson but very experimental! Great stuff to trick friends! Cheers guys, love your videos!
Kurt if you do like sours, they are similar to whiskey. Something you don't wanna drink too too much of to enjoy the flavors. It's one of those beers if I see it on a menu, I'm like "here's my one sour for the year" or something. Like, it's a rarity, so I make it an experience. But my favorite sour I've ever had was a pineapple gose. If you ever see anything similar, try it. I am not even close to a beer drinker, like yourself, and I loved it.
of Jameson's my go to is the Black Barrel. Regular is a mixer with Ginger ale. I don't stride too far past those. I don't do the flavored or the super fancy and apparently for a good reason lol. Only Irish Wiskey line that would have some variety would be Tullamore D.E.W. I really liked the Caribbean Rum Finish but I haven't seen it for a while now.
All Irish is triple-distilled. It's just their thing. My (Irish-born) father was a Bushmills man but he never turned down a glass of Jameson. Thanks for the vid/review guys!
Jameson 5 oak cask runs about 36.00 euro, so roughly 40-45 US dollars, brought a bottle back from Ireland this past July, still unopened in the cabinet.
The Jameson 18 Year Bow St is actually finished at cask strength at the Jameson facility in Dublin. It’s maybe the best whiskey I’ve ever had. You can get it in the states on occasion but it’s super rare here. The 18 is similar, but doesn’t hold a candle to the Bow St.
Cold Brew with Mr. Black, on ice, is a great combination and has become my go-to lately. Will throw in some maple syrup and/or chocolate butters to kick it up an extra notch.
The Jameson Single Pot Still Five Oak Cask release has been selling in Ontario Canada at the LCBO for several months for $86.70 canadian a bottle...picked one up a few months ago. Still a few in stock.
Off topic alert! The Old Grandad 114 in the center got me totally off track. I went back to your review of $20 bourbons from two years ago. It’s still standing strong, although I’m paying $35 for it now. It’s my go to for an Old Fashioned. Thanks Kurt and Trent!
I've never used it in a cocktail, but I've used it in a slammer that I'm not sure I can name here. It's typically a half oz each of Irish whiskey, and Irish cream dropped into a pint of Guinness.
You are missing two of my favorite Jameson's: Cask Mate Stout...wonderful creamy stout flavor. And Jameson's Crested...Ireland only...Sherry Cask finish...similar to Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Single Grain...but even better. If you want, I can send you a sample of the Crested.
a cocktail besides irish coffee? Jameson Black barrel was one of my first whiskeys that i still love. i've used it in whiskey sours. you can make an irish mule. i've made an irish espresso martini with jameson, mr black coffee liquor, espresso, and guiness simple syrup (equal parts guiness to brown sugar). add in chocolate bitters if you'd like.
Not knowing what to do with the J. Orange I have, I was entertaining a couple very lovely people and grabbed a lowball and added brown syrup I made for old fashioned, added a couple oz. of the orange... they went crazy over it.
Surprised the Jameson stout wasn't part of the lineup. The best one in my opinion.
For sure.
Headed to the comments to say the same. Cheers!
Nor the crested
Yes!
So weird, I like Jameson, I like stouts, but I don't like the cask mates
One that's missing that is very good is the Caskmates Stout Edition. Really nice caramel and coffee flavour. Also, the one often considered the best value of the range, The Crested. A considerable step up over the standard Jameson at an affordable price.
Just left the same comment. The stout barrel is definitely my favorite

Agreed on the stout. My favorite for super simple but easy drinker.

My son and I did that 4 years ago. We have a shot on Grandson's (Jameson) birthday each year.
Jameson Gold Label. I have a bottle and pour one drink a year out of it.
I did it 2 weeks ago. Created my own label too. Great tour, wasn't it? We had an independent tour guide who took us to Guinness right after.
My grandfather passed away two years ago this month. Jameson was his absolute favorite whiskey and he had is every night after dinner. This video hit a little closer than I expected and i'm happy you both enjoyed it!
Cheers to your granddad. 🥃🥃
As far as a cocktail….we were served ginger ale, Jameson and lime as the distillery cocktail and saw it served quite a bit in Ireland
Totally agree !!! I was at Bow street in Dublin last year
We also had that at the Midleton distillery. Quite nice.
I've always thought that if you really want to or have to add ginger ale to whiskey, Jameson is the go to choice for that.
The Irish Mule
Only Jameson I have was a gift from my sister-in-law who brought back a Jameson Crested from Ireland. It is very good. 🥃
Crested May well be the best offering from Jameson. Sadly, it is not available in the US.
The crested is quite good, my wife brought back a bottle from her trip to Ireland. Big sad about the availability, though I'd probably definitely pick up another bottle if I was across the pound
The Jameson Stout edition is really good. It might help with the liking of beer barrell finishes.
Came here to say it exactly that! 😂
I was fortunate that my daughter picked me up a Jameson 18 year Bow Street in Ireland. For at least the last 6 months it is finished in Bourbon barrels. I love it!!

Anyone curious about Jameson, much of that line-up are readily available as 50ml sample bottles. I'd recommend going that route first.
I tried the IPA version in a small bottle first. It’s great if you like a lime in your Irish whiskey and ginger ale/beer without having to add lime.
Irish Mule: 2 oz. Jameson, 1 oz. lime juice, 6 oz. ginger beer, lime slice, mint sprig, ice.

Jameson highballs are very popular and common. Jameson with club soda or ginger ale or sprite or cola over ice with a slice of lime.
Redbreast, Bushmills, and Dewar's would be a few I would like to see you do. Thanks for the great videos!
Enjoyed this. Not my wheelhouse in general but sure is popular worldwide. I'm with Kurt on the Black Barrel.. I think that's the best one overall.
While other distilleries use Midleton juice, all Jameson is produced by Midleton at Midleton. Jameson is one of 5 labels they have
Hello from down under!
Irish mule with the jameson black barrel is a good one. ginger beer, jameson, lime and ice
Great vid, gents. I don’t think I’ve seen Kurt’s face look as displeased as when trying the coffee Jameson. 😂😂
The Orange makes a great summer cocktail with ginger ale.
of Jameson's my go to is the Black Barrel.
Of the Jameson Whiskey I have had I am a fan of Black Barrel. I did use the orange in an old fashion and it was not ideal but it was not terrible.
Do a blind with Jameson and Tullamore Dew!
Tullamore Dew with ginger ale. And the Tullamore Dew Caribbean Cask!
Using Jameson for an Irish Cream mix - magical ✨
When I was at the Jameson Distillery last year, it tasted like an Irish OF 1910 to me. Been a fan ever since.
I’m headed to Ireland in a few weeks and will be doing the Jameson tour!
Now I need to go find your Crown Royal video.
14:30 I love Jameson Orange with Coffee & Cream on a cold weekend morning!
I’d like to see you guys do a review of wheated bourbons, 1792 sweet wheat, Old Elk, Green River, Whistlepig, etc
Off topic alert! The Old Grandad 114 in the center got me totally off track. I went back to your review of $20 bourbons from two years ago. It’s still standing strong, although I’m paying $35 for it now. It’s my go to for an Old Fashioned. Thanks Kurt and Trent!
Nice review! My son gave me a bottle of 18yr and it’s pretty decent!
I do like the Black Barrel, but I really want the cask strength version, but it's only available at the distillery, apparently.
a cocktail besides irish coffee? Jameson Black barrel was one of my first whiskeys that i still love. i've used it in whiskey sours. you can make an irish mule. i've made an irish espresso martini with jameson, mr black coffee liquor, espresso, and guiness simple syrup (equal parts guiness to brown sugar). add in chocolate bitters if you'd like.
Try Compass Box blends. Lots of choices and very good
I’ve only tried three of them, and Jameson Black is my fav so far.
Not knowing what to do with the J. Orange I have, I was entertaining a couple very lovely people and grabbed a lowball and added brown syrup I made for old fashioned, added a couple oz. of the orange... they went crazy over it.
Your dad made a video using the gold rush cocktail! I like using Jameson in that it mixes nice with the honey syrup
Jameson Triple Triple is awesome. You can buy it at duty free or on cruise ships.
I remember the tomato needle holder and the orange baby aspirins!
That bottle is indeed only available over in Ireland. They have a few that are like that.
Kurt, I don't drink much beer either. I do like some of the Shandy's though. Better than drinking soda. Leinenkugel's makes some bangers.
Jameson standard holds a special place in my heart in my drinking life. Jameson Cold Brew tastes amazing mixed with coffee.
agree on the Jameson 18 yo, it wasn’t much of an upgrade from the original version. It’s more a bottle to show off behind the bar.
Jameson, ginger ale and a lime wedge. Simple and delicious.
Love to use Jameson for an Irish Mule. My preferred mule.
I do enjoy Jamieson as an occasional sip. I also enjoy it in my irish coffee. That's probably the only irish whiskey cocktail that I make.
