I’ve only had bottles of the 12 and the lustua. I have to say the 12 is one of my favorites and the lustau was pretty disappointing. Although, it had an excellent nose and was very creamy, it tasted pretty young and had a sting to it that made it difficult to finish. I’ve been debating to try the 12 cask or the 15th. I think I will go with the 15 next based on your recommendation and since it’s the same price with the 12 cask strength where I live. Great video!
I discovered whisk(e)y About two years ago and I sipped Redbreast 12 years in Dublin, and I really like it. It tastes smooth and soft, round, and not the harsh bite that some of the whiskies have that I tasted so far.
Seeing all those RBs lined up like that ... a thing of beauty. RB also did a PX & 10 yr old limited releases, but they disappear pretty quickly, even in Ireland. It would be a wee life goal to have a bottle of each in my lifetime. Same with the Spot range and Bushmills. Getting there! :)
Great review Jeremy. I’m sure those 5 pours did not go to waste. I have the the Spots but it seems that I need to get some Redbreast. Not sure where commenter Attila lives but RB 15 is $125 here in Ohio. Happy St Patty’s Day!
Redbreast is one of my favorite brands. In my area the lustau is $60 and for that, I think it is a excellent after dinner/ desert sipper. You can't go wrong with Redbreast.
The 15 is my favorite for sure but also love the 12 - I just came back from Ireland a few months ago and was able to pick up the 21 and bring back for just under 200 but havent opened it up yet... and it looks like I may have a 27 soon as well... Oh boy cant wait...
Great rundown Jeremy. Agree that the 15 is the standout for quality and value love the stuff. Unfortunately I see the current packaging does not say "Non Chill Filtered" anymore. People who are very into Irish Whisky have said that it still is NCF however removing the statement is troubling to how things will proceed in the future? Cheers
I been waiting a few years to purchase the 12cs and when Alberta got it this year I jumped at it and boy do the flavours work for me! Now I'm looking to follow that up with something older! Great vid !!
Agree with you that the 21 is outstanding in terms of mouthfeel, here in Denmark we can still find it at 190 CAD which is a great value. My all time favorite is the 27 Ruby Port Cask which puts them all to rest
Have had the 12 cask strength and Lustau and prefer the cask 12. I have not had the straight 12, 15 or 21. However I have had the 27 and you are right about it being in a league of its own. I will have to keep an eye out for the 15.
I’ve had the 12, CS12, 15, and the Lustau. Not sure I have a favorite of any of those yet as they’re all really good in their ways. I’ve been eager to try the All Sherry limited release but it’s not exactly easy to find in the States.
I got the 12yo, 12 c/s, lustau. All great. Never ventured past that since can't justify the $400 local price for the 21yo and mistakenly thought the 15yo might have just been one of those in-between money-grabbers. After seeing this I instantly went online and purchased one of the 15yo. Cheers
Finally got around to opening the bottle to compare and, wow. So much more oily, viscous and flavourful than the 12yo. The finish on the 12yo c/s goes on for days, but the flavour profile of the 15 is fantastic. I'd mostly agree with rating scale here (minus the 21yo since I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to justify the price) except that I'd swap the Lustau and the 12yo c/s. The lustau is nice but very sherry-forward compared to the rest. So I'd maybe say 84 for the 12yo, 86 for the lustau, 86.5 for 12yo c/s and 88 for the 15yo. cheers
The Redbreast is great across the range. For me, the 21 is by and far the best - but the price?? The 15 is much better value and ticks all the boxes and not a hell of a lot smaller score. I'd take the 12 CS over the Lustau though, but it's all subjective. As you said, it I had the money, I'd take the 21 - fantastic whiskey. Sláinte.
did you get the new Redbreast PX ? not sure if it's going to be regular production but it's a $100 and so is the new Glendalough 7 Mizunara that dropped last week and it's everywhere now for St. Patrick's Day. I got Teeling Single Malt batch 8/19 today for $37.99 and that's my St. Patrick's Day whiskey. I hope you got your candela green wrapper cigar for tomorrow.
whisky pricing is odd the 12 the cask strength and the 15 are all fairly similar to the UK except the 21 and the Lustau are far cheaper here the lustau is equivalent to $51-57 and the 21 $230-260, makes me wonder if they're bottling two different products with the same label for different markets or maybe you know something about the market i don't ?
Been wanting to try the 21 for about 6yrs. Still haven't found one. I wish I bought one in 2015 for 90 Euros at the airport in Dublin. Probably one of my biggest regrets as far as missed chances go.
Wow, as I watch this video a year later in 9/2023 the price of the 12yr old is $80.00 so like $85.00 with tax... I like it, but probably won't be buying it again.... just picked up a Teeling for like $40.00 and it's just as good!
Strangely enough LCBO pricing on the Redbreast lineup are not too far out of whack compared to Scotch however they have not had the 12 cask strength or the 21 in years so judging by their ever depleting stock don't hold your breath. They do however currently have some stock of the 15 and the Lustau but once it's gone who knows if it will return. I stocked up on the Lustau in Ontario several years ago and stocked up on the 21 a few years ago from Alberta on sale under $200 all in.
I’ve had every label released over the past two years, small batch, px, 27-12 and I truly believe the 15 is the one to pick up. It’s the bees knees
Great presentation on the line-up. I would love to see how the Redbreast 27 would fit in.

Really like the way-angle you line up these beautiful bottles and a very nice review. Thanks.
I've tried the 12 and my impression is it leaves a velvety oily coating in the mouth which I love. Can't wait to try the 15.
12 cask strength is my absolute favorite of the bunch. I just love the buttery shortbread notes .
Need to revisit the 21 based on your thoughts. Was super disappointed back in the day when I opened mine.
What year did you have. The 2021 is fantastic

Yeah the 27 is epic!
I love the 12yr, I bought the Lustau, have not opened it yet

Great review! I love Redbreast, unfortunately the 21 is way out of my reach but it’s nice to “experience” it through this video, cheers! 🔥
pot still whiskey is the best style out there. lots of other great examples like the Spots, Powers, Method & Madness etc
Thanks for this review, very helpful. What do you consider to be a ‘fair price’ for the RB21?
$225 usd
Excellent work, Jeremy!
I’ve had the 12, CS12, 15, and the Lustau. Not sure I have a favorite of any of those yet as they’re all really good in their ways. I’ve been eager to try the All Sherry limited release but it’s not exactly easy to find in the States.
1099 dk= 143 $ right now for the 21 in Denmark. Are the prices so high in your country? Its my favorit whisky
Great video mate. Would you buy a 12 CS + 15 or would you buy 2x15?
The 12 CS is a great whiskey if you can find it. It’s a favorite.
The Lustau is sometimes at Costco and it is 56 bucks. When it comes in I always grab atleast one. Nice line up overview man!
Great price on that
Lucky for me 21YO is only ~150$ in Europe and it is my favorite by far.
My list would be 21, Lustau, 15YO, 12YO CS, 12YO
The 15sis outrageously good ! Best I've tried in a while, and I'm typically a scotch snob lol
Redbreast 12 is good for beginners but even for seasoned veterans, it's always a treat.
Cheers
$400 is excessive. Enjoy the 15, cheers
How do you like the 15 vs the others?

I don't know if if it's just that much cheaper where you are but I'd only every seen the 12 year sold for $79

@@possibilityspace unfortunately not. Only have got as far as the 21. You?
Just acquired a RB 12 cask strength. Very tasty 👌
Redbreast 27 is Christmas in a glass.. I’m a fan of the 21 and the cask strength

Haven't tried the PX yet. I definitely had a pour and a smoke today :)
Hope you get to try the new PX release soon, it's fantastic. a step up from the lustau imo...also a step up in price tho.
Dang sounds good

How about the PX Edition.
It's interesting seeing the different prices in each market. In my market the 15 is around 45$ and the 12 CS is 75-80$.
That's insane... I'd buy a ton of 15 at that price
@@robertbrangan9617 yup have 4 bottles put away just in case this changes:))))
Thats an insane price on the 15!
IMO, the 21 is 3x the 15 because from what I understand there is 27/28 year blended in. Just my 2 cents…
Love you videos. I miss having the freedom to drink like I did at 21. Lol
I was not drinking this well at 21 lol
Love the 12 year old 👍
Is there a filtration statement on any of these?
No mention about filtration or added color. So assume both
