Deanston 12 was what I thought of when I saw the title, super glad to see it in the video. Grabbed a bottle once just to get something different and immediately became one of my favorites. Great easy drinker for a good price that will always be in my cabinet!
Glengoyne 12. It's my absolute favorite whiskey, and most people have no idea it even exists. Daniel and Rex, you guys reviewed it way back in the day and LOVED it.
I think Caol Ila 12 gets overlooked quite a lot (from Islay). Loch Lomond really surprised me as well, if you find their sampler with a NAS, 12, 15 and 18 pick it up! :) Underrated is going to bed early because you are tired, it is such a luxurious feeling!
@@lubetester nice! The bottles were really low priced here in Sweden for some odd reason, so I picked up the 15 year for $42, seems like an error because the 12 is $53 (I am not complaining though)
Ooh! Got a great underrated experience! When you get one of those restaurant tortilla chips that is folded over or even a stack folded over so it's layered and is sturdier to hold more dip.
Honestly I fell in love with the Islay region for all the known reasons and then I bought Bunnahabhain 12 on a whim because I needed more to cover shipping costs.... (hehe) and I keep reaching for that bottle! It makes me so happy! The coffee in the aftertaste ahhh
I love the list. Usually in the stores. I always recommend all of them depending on what person is looking for, Even though I'm not working there one more I want to mention Port Askig 110. When you're sitting and fishing for hours and nothing and finally you got one!!!!
Despite her moments of utter goofyness, her pallet has gotten so good. I think her brains ability to recognize and identify flavors and her ability to "Mouth" has grown exponentially the past 12 months.
Deanston 12 is such a wonderful selection. I got the bottle as a gift and was blown away by it, and now I'm looking to collect more Deanstons Also, an underrated single malt is Tomatin, at any age proof. Wish more people would try it.
Daniel poured my first Bunnahabhain 12 in the old original vault years ago. I fell in love with it and keep it in my bar to this day. Great stuff, we call it "The Bunny" lol
It’s nice to see an episode that’s really about whiskey. Rather than just Rex throwing handfuls of Bisquick at Brianna or seeing if lollipops will distill.🤣🥞🍭
@@shaggy-wb1yn That’s true, but there was also “unpretentious whisk(e)y knowledge.“ In the early days of the channel there’d be something interesting and informative, followed by “top shelf shenanigans.“ You’d learn all about how a barrel is constructed and why aging is so important, and then they would take a flamethrower and try to re-create different char levels. Or rapid age using saw dust.🤣 I learned a lot watching this channel. I’m all for the shenanigans, but I like it when they strike a balance. For me it’s more engaging. And most of the time they still do. I was exaggerating a little bit for comic effect😉
I saw Animal House in a near empty theater on it's opening day. I was able to hear every joke, every line and enjoyed the hell out it. I saw it again in a crowded theater and they missed most of the jokes because they were still laughing at one two or three scenes ago.
Another I’ve known about forever, and have heard only good things, but always pass over. I think I usually go for bourbon when spending some money for whiskey, since it’s relatively cheaper where I live
Michter's Bourbon is underrated because it is overshadowed by the American. The most underrated life moment is when you defecate and the TP is clean on the first wipe.
I don't do the alcohols, but my underrated thing is after a long day, when you perfectly grab the shoelaces on both of your shoes at the same time, untie them at exactly the same time in the same way, and can then pull both shoes off at exactly the same time. Just three quick movements and both shoes are off.
Real underrated whiskey for me is Tamnavoulin Red Wine cask, everytime I have recommended it to people they have enjoyed it and it is one I keep going back to, great video as always guys, take care.
I really loved the Bunnahabhain 12 when I sampled it (I've been meaning to buy a full bottle for my own shelf for a while now, but needed to get a few other scotches first). Another that I really like that others say they dislike or simply ignore is Aberfeldy 12. I put it right up there with the Aberlour 12.
Benriach The Smoky Ten - a great combo that you don’t see often: a peated speyside. A combination of peated and unpeated malted barely spending ten years in a combination of bourbon barrels, Jamaican rum casks, and toasted virgin oak. So underrated, especially if you’re a fan of Islay.
If you like smoky speysides look for Old Ballantruan from Tomintoul Distillery, I have had both and Old Ballantruan is head and shoulders above the Benriach.
You really should try the Benriach The Smoky 12. After my first few nudges off that bottle, it will be in my liquor cabinet until they quit making it. Truly a special smokey scotch whisky.
The Tribe would probably disagree on this being underrated, but far too few regular people know about Johnnie Walker Green Label, I've got an emotional attachment to it and it'll always be one of my favorites. And my underrated feeling in everyday life is when you're riding in the car with a friend and they're like "Hey, I'm gonna stop for a coffee." Or whatever and there's playful back and forth of you not wanting anything so you don't impose, but they twist your arm and convince you to get a snack and you both enjoy your little fat-kid moment together.
Green label would be mine and my wife's number 1 choice bar none... I was so sad to hear they discontinued making it. They started it up again and I hope they don't give me another heart attack in the future
Caol ila 12 is such a beautiful pour! So many flavours to unpack. The smooth, silky smoke flavour is a blanket for the tongue. I like to put a heavy splash in a cup of tea when under the weather.
Auchentoshan 12 activates some serious nostalgia for me. My grandparents were Europeans who were raised in North Africa. And they made these ground almond cakes baked in honey called makrouds all the time when I was a kid. Auchentoshan takes that flavor for me and dials it down to a 3. But there is enough of it in there to activate some childhood memories whenever I drink it.
@@valiantabello unfortunately not. My grandfather passed before I could get the recipe from him. But it was a bastardized version of the Algerian/ Tunisian makrouts that you can find online
Most underrated scotch is Ancnoc 12. Some serious honeyed white dessert wine vibe with this ash and black pepper vein. Under $50 for me. Love it. The most underrated satisfactory experience has far more to do about now.
Not a Scotch, but Knappogue Castle 16 is a massively underrated Irish whiskey. I've only ever seen it at one liquor store where I am but there's always a bottle in my liquor cabinet. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out for Bunnahabhain because I want to like Islays, but Ardbeg 10 is just too smokey to drink on its own. In a smoked mapled Old Fashioned? Sure, but I'd prefer to sip my whisk(e)y. I feel like I'd enjoy Bunnahabhain
glenmorangie 14 year old port cast just hits all the right notes for me most people I talk to never heard of it. Most unrelated experience that first sip of coffee in morning on your day off.
My underrated value pick would be Grangestone Bourbon Cask. I got the bourbon finished bottle on sale for $26 (now ~$35). I really enjoyed it and the price tag really made it that much better. I really want to try their whole series now.
the most underrated whiskey in my opinion is the wild turkey 101. at 50.5% and after a little dash of water creates a explosion of juice soaked cherries aged in oak while leaving that long lasting flavor on your tongue. show the 101 some love. cheers from Newfoundland Canada!!!
The best underrated experience is waking up early like you're going to work, taking a shower and going back to bed. It's amazing, and it's been too long since I've done it. I agree the Bunnahabhain 12 is the best underrated scotch.
My go-to underrated is Old Pulteney. Its nothing that will blow the roof off the joint. Its my nice weekend scotch. It's sitting on the back deck and feeling the first cold front of the season coming through from the north after a long hot summer. It's shaking hands with your dad. It's that first tug on a fishing line.
My most underrated would be Benriach "The Smoky 12" - it's a very good blend of sherry, bourbon and marsala matured casks. Another would be Craigellachie 13 but I am not sure that it is "under the radar" as much as it once was. That was a fun video - enjoyed it.
Daniel likes Distell! :) Buna and Deanston. Both 46.3% ABV. Both amazing! Btw, Bunna isn't underrated by any stretch. The connoisseurs loooove it and is always a staple.
I love me some Aberfeldy 12 😊 very easy sipping, sweet little highland single malt. It has everything I look for in a highland, and I can get it for $38~$45 here in Florida
Dewars 12 is a really good and underrated blended sipper. The perfect warm water for washing your hands, after coming in from the cold, OR the perfectly cool water for chugging when you are really thirsty. Cheers!
My underrated Scotch is AnCnoc 12. It's pale color is not very persuasive. You expect on seeing it that it will have little nose or taste. When you pour it and nose it, you get a surprising hit of lemon along with honey and vanilla. While not full bodied, the lemony citrus is again present on the palate, along with the vanilla and honey and perhaps a hint of banana, with some grassiness on the back end. It is a refreshing Scotch, perfect for those warm summer evenings, and it is a very unusual aroma and flavor profile that will catch people off guard.
Agreed AnCnoc it self is very underrated. In my opinion the whole core range is great! My favourite is the 24y old, an absolutely stunning and deeply complex whisky for a fair price.
I totally get that "not dying" thing. I was at the climbing gym one day, trying an auto-belay climb that was at my limit. It required a toe-tip back-step while nearly fully extended sideways. I had tried and not made it twice, then made it on the third shot. I was going to go for a dynamic move to a two-digit-deep handhold when one of the staff told me, "Hey, you're supposed to be clipped in for that one!" I forgot to clip in, and at that point was 20 feet in the air, just about to jump (it later took me 5 tries to make the jump successfully). Fortunately, there was an easy route right next to mine that I could down-climb, but I was shaking at the end of it. Felt weirdly good about having executed the move while accidentally free-soloing, though.
Fell in love with a Auchentoshen through logic from a store owner when I was trying to celebrate a milestone (he was probably just trying to move inventory 😂). However, I went to buy a 15 year McAllen and he said why not get the Auchentoshen 21 for at the time was far better value. ($159 if I recall correctly). Ever since I have recommended this and have never had bad feedback.
Agreed, very lovely fruity dram and fairly priced. The 15y old ist definitely top-notch, I even prefer it to the 12y old, also the best bang per buck in the range. I also heard good things about the 18y and 25y old, both more with a darker fruits and spice profile. The 25y old is sadly pricewise out of reach, but the 18y old I will definitely try.
If you start out with Auchentoshan, you've got my attention. Up there with Tomatin and Cardhu for underrated scotches. TX would be my most underrated. As far as experience, when you're hitting a turn pretty fast and you get your truck's weight set perfectly in the turn, so even though you're going fast, you're not sliding or pulling.
Underrated whiskey... The Sexton Irish whiskey. The bottle design of it is either love it or hate it, but they whiskey itself is delicious for a decent price. Underrated experience, getting caught in a sudden downpour of rain. Some people would hate that, but I always book it to get back inside and laugh at how drenched I've gotten.
Literally the first one you guys tried was the first one I tried when I started seriously getting into spirits in general, and single malt scotch whisky in particular. Auchentoshan 😚👌
I love Bunnahabhain 12 so much. So easy to drink, never boring and ok to eating with it. It matches my palate very well and the price is OK (45 euros).
Most underrated Scotch - Springbank 15. Tropical fruit, leather, old rope and toffee. Better than that feeling you get when you ACCIDENTALLY hit a perfect pinch harmonic in your solo, and the drummer tuns and looks at you and nods with pursed lips in approval.
A bit late, sorry. The suggestion to dive into “The Worlds Greatest Con” was a mythic gift. What a spectacular series. Wow. I’m sharing it with everyone I know. Thank you!
One that I am a huge advocate for is the glenscotia double cask. It's a really good mix of sherry and bourbon. Kind of similar territory of thamdu with a little extra bourbon on it
Wolfburn is my favourite whisky and I would say it's the most underrated scotch. It's perfect to drink by the fireside, fits hot summer evenings very well and opens up nicely on ice.
@@mcgie2002 The main line is solid. Whisky amateurs are always impressed when I pour them a dram. I've just had a very crappy Deanston this Christmas, Kentucky Cask, and still, other Deanston expressions are my favourite oaky highland whiskies.
I'm a total noob to the whiskey world so I've only tried 2 & both were Jack Daniel's lol. They made a southern pecan whiskey & I knew after the 1st sip that I could get in trouble with it because it was smooth with a nutty flavor. Most underrated life moment: Trying on tennis shoes and finding the perfect one that makes your feet sigh. I call it the footgasm 'cause when you put them on you're like "Oh yeah!" 😆
I gotta say the most underrated I know of, at least in my case, is benromach 10. I see it at tons of liquor stores collecting dust like no one is grabbing them. I know I've passed on them until I tried it and it is rare for me to give it to someone whos had it before. Now its a solid go to for me.
Oh, that autotune at the beginning 😆 Bunnahabhain 12 is a gem, especially for its current price. We'll miss it when it gets priced at what it should be. I'd also suggest Craigellachie 13 and Benromach 10 are both tremendously underrated.
omg had to pause. bunnahabhain 12 is my absolute favourite whisky... ITSSSSSSS SoOooo good both neat and mixed with coke.. if i had to chose one to drink for the rest of my life its this one. im so exited to see what yall have to say now :))))
My underrated is templeton rye cask strength. It’s very good and when I decided to buy one on sale I had yet to hear anyone even mention it. But my underrated experience is waking up to your alarm but realizing it’s a snow day and you can climb back in to those heavy blankets.
Comass Box Orchard House is one for me, so much fruit and honey with a little malt. Having a cat figure 8 around your ankles a couple times is a way underrated event.
Glen Garioch 12 - it's just under the radar, but an authentic and robust Highland Single Malt. Ledaig 10 from Isle of Mull is also great value, I even like it more than many 10yo from Islay.
I randomly picked up some Auchentoshan 12 a couple months ago and what a pleasant surprise it was. Bunnahabhain 12 is fantastic. As much as I say I like peated scotches the Bunnahabhain seems to see more glass time than any of the peated ones. I would live to get my hands on a bottle of the cask strength.
Such a newbie at Scotch. But under rated experience- the feel of your teeth after getting them cleaned and polished at the dentist. That ummmmm feel of running your tongue across wonderfully smooth teeth!
I think Glenfarclas doesn’t get enough respect. Great pour that’s easy to find and available almost everywhere that sells scotch, the 105 I think it’s a really solid dram for what it is. Underrated moment I would have to say when you are golfing and call a difficult shot that you have no confidence you can hit but would never lead on as much to the other players, and you strike it perfect and exactly what you wanted to happen happens, that’s about as satisfying as it gets for me
Glenmorangie, Tale of the Forest! So unique and different! When you are driving and get distracted for a second, look up... the car in front of you is stopped, and you slam on your brakes never hitting the car in front of you. Yeah. Kinda like that. 👍
I recently bought a bottle of the 12y old, I was blown away! Such a characterful and complex Whisky. How in the world had I overlooked this great malt for so long? I then bought the 18y old and what can I say? It's even better! And the best part is that for an 18y old it's also very fairly priced, highly recommended.
I don't have a lot of experience with Irish whiskeys and the main one that I do enjoy is Redbreast 12, which is fairly popular. I'll just pick my favorite underrated alcohol, which is Skrewball. Yeah, it's pretty sweet so I dont drink it neat that often. I mean, I do, im just not a maniac. I do like to throw it into a Whiskey Sour and let that lemon juice cut through the sweetness. An unusual, underrated experience is the first time wearing a brand new soft flannel shirt!
Auchentoshan 12, wow, this video is off to a great start. I used to love American Oak and the 12 YO version (before sanctions resulted in prices going through the roof).
Deanston 12 was what I thought of when I saw the title, super glad to see it in the video. Grabbed a bottle once just to get something different and immediately became one of my favorites. Great easy drinker for a good price that will always be in my cabinet!

I didn't know they had a 12! I've got the 10, 18, 21, and 25 in my home bar right now, and had no idea there was a 12. Now I'll have to seek it out.
I had the pleasure of going on a tour and tasting at Glengoyne this past July, and I found that the 12 was far and away my favorite of what I tried.
The cask strength Glengoyne 12... lovely
YES~!!! finally, a fellow Glengoyne lover~

Agreed
Dewars 12 is a really good and underrated blended sipper. The perfect warm water for washing your hands, after coming in from the cold, OR the perfectly cool water for chugging when you are really thirsty. Cheers!
Bunnahabhain is excellent. Picked up a bottle to finish off the Islay's and was pleasantly surprised. Love it.
I would need a whisky and quiet reflection after that. Maybe open a gem I was saving. Glad you didn't fall.
Balblair. The 12yr is usually reasonably affordable and just a great dram. The 15yr is absolutely lovely.
Agree 100% on the Bunna 12, that belongs in every scotch collection. I'd also add Benromach 10.
Yeah I loove the Bunna 12 too. It was a gift from someone, and I was amazed how much I liked it!
Kilcholman Machir Bay, Turning over your pillow on a hot summer night and having a cool pillow to fall asleep on.
3:52 The most wholesome thing I've seen today. Just people describing nice things.
I fricken love that copper table.
A bit late, sorry. The suggestion to dive into “The Worlds Greatest Con” was a mythic gift. What a spectacular series. Wow. I’m sharing it with everyone I know. Thank you!
Singleton 12 Luscious Nectar. I love the creamy coffee and nutty notes on the palate. Just a fine whisky form Dufftown.
Benromach 10, it's a nice speyside with a hint of peat. So good!
5:55 Cracken 'em, havin 'em, lookin at 'em. My New favourite quote!
That said, i’ve had some VERY crappy Wolfburn as well…
@@mcgie2002 The main line is solid. Whisky amateurs are always impressed when I pour them a dram.
I've just had a very crappy Deanston this Christmas, Kentucky Cask, and still, other Deanston expressions are my favourite oaky highland whiskies.
you dudes are addictive to watch, this girl is a must in your show.
I tried deanston when I was in Edinburgh last spring and it’s been my favorite whiskey to date
Bunna is one of my fav scotches. Sometimes hard to find here locally.
Underrated: taking the last lady home from the bar and having a wonderful experience.
Brianna is hilarious!! She NEEDS to be a reg. Part of the channel, her cackle and laughs made me laugh 😃!!🤣🤣🥃🍻cheers from ETn Smoky Mtns.
I love how satisfied Daniel looks after describing his association with the whisky at 4:16
Oh, that autotune at the beginning 😆 Bunnahabhain 12 is a gem, especially for its current price.
12:20 Glen Scotia my thoughts exactly!
Wow. Those are my exact 2 choices as well.
Great line up! I'm totally digging the choices except for the Deanston
Justfi finished a bottle of Bunnahabain, really nice, will buy again.
I had the Glenrothes bourbon cask, just finished it off. I did like it as a comfy sipper.
Glenlivet 12 Illicit Still, Glenfarclas 105, Aultmore 12. Also quarter casks in general.
The Bunna12 is just so damn good. And I'm happy that I don't have to hunt for it. Pretty much any decent supermarket has it for around 40-45€.
I’d argue the Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair is even better than the 12. Very underrated and very cheap.
Such a newbie at Scotch. But under rated experience- the feel of your teeth after getting them cleaned and polished at the dentist. That ummmmm feel of running your tongue across wonderfully smooth teeth!
@10:50 Zipper method is ideal for merging 2 lanes into 1.
I think Glenfarclas doesn’t get enough respect. Great pour that’s easy to find and available almost everywhere that sells scotch, the 105 I think it’s a really solid dram for what it is. Underrated moment I would have to say when you are golfing and call a difficult shot that you have no confidence you can hit but would never lead on as much to the other players, and you strike it perfect and exactly what you wanted to happen happens, that’s about as satisfying as it gets for me
Not sure what I love more, the scotches presented here or the video itself 🤔🤔🤔
Glenmorangie, Tale of the Forest! So unique and different! When you are driving and get distracted for a second, look up... the car in front of you is stopped, and you slam on your brakes never hitting the car in front of you. Yeah. Kinda like that. 👍
Deanston 12 is sooooo underrated, had it at the Portcullis restaurant in Stirling (ab 10-15min from the distillery). Been a fav of mine since
I recently bought a bottle of the 12y old, I was blown away! Such a characterful and complex Whisky. How in the world had I overlooked this great malt for so long? I then bought the 18y old and what can I say? It's even better! And the best part is that for an 18y old it's also very fairly priced, highly recommended.
Love Auchentoshan. Used to be one of my favorite distilleries, and would get their American oak and bartenders edition a lot.
Tried quite a few. Tammavulin. Old Perth/Putney. Aught.12 very nice. Also Arran 12
AnCnoc 12 year old is my under rated single malt scotch. Cereal, malt, fresh flowers, toasted bread. Good value too.
Singleton 12 of Dufftown. I get this espresso note that is addictive 🙂
3:53 when you’re driving in the rain and you go under a bridge or overpass that little break is called a “down pause”
Auchentoshan 12, wow, this video is off to a great start. I used to love American Oak and the 12 YO version (before sanctions resulted in prices going through the roof).
