It’s awesome that smaller local distillery’s are starting to really shine in local markets and it will be awesome to see them grow and spread.
Klown car had me bust out laughing. Always pleased to see my friends Sexton and WT101 in a lineup. And I must fully admit, Old Grandad 114 is one of very few bottles I like to keep on my shelf for the price.
Old Forester quickly became one of my top budget bourbons, And for scotches I usually reach for either Monkey Shoulder or Shieldaig. You really can't beat them for the money.
Old Tub, J.W. Dant, WT101 Rye, EW SB, McKenna BiB (before Minnick gave it top spot in a tasting and it jumped from $26 to $70), Mellow Corn, Powers Irish, Old Forester 100, Knob Creek 9, Dewar's 12. There's enough for another round. My go-to's are Knob Creek 9, WT 101 Rye and that oh so tasty Mellow Corn.
My three budget whiskeys I alternate between are Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey 101, and Evan Williams BIB. All three are great for neat pours, and the EW and WT have the proof to hold up to making a cocktail and not lose the bourbon in the mixer.
Balcones is my favorite Bourbon which always surprises people up here where I am in NY but I just think it's such a distinct and delicious pour and pushes the boundaries of the Bourban tasing palate. I was crushed when I read that they were going to start moving away from it and eventually stop making it all together. I've already started to stockpile even though they said they have about 2 years' worth of stock still. At the price point, I actually grab at least one bottle every time I see it in a store. Great video and cheers!
My budgets are Buffalo Trace (when I can actually find it in my state), Old Forester 100, Wild Turkey 101, Elijah Craig, and 1792. Odd that Rex found Wild Turkey 101 too tannin heavy, I feel like their recent stuff has almost none of that and it's become much sweeter.
Sub 35, I'd say early times BiB. OGD 114 is a great pour too but I think early times is well rounded and balanced. I could do that one neat, in a cocktail or on the rocks and never feel guilty about how much I spent on that pour.
It's even a lot cheaper than that in Europe. If you ever have the chance, try to get your hands on a bottle of "Jameson Caskmates - Outland Limited Edition (Black IPA Cask Finish)". I paid 35€ over here for that one, and it's amazing.
So im just getting into Whiskeys after watching a bunch of vids, but I really like the McConnell's Irish Whisky. I can get it for $30-32 at the stores around me and its very buttery shortbread with a lot of baking spice on the end; which feels really pleasant to me.

my 'under $35' neat pour is Penelope Bourbon Four-Grain. It was going to be Knob Creek 9 year, but that's just outside the budget (Virginia ABC prices.)
Awesome vid, like everytime I go completely with brianna's ranking exept of the Woodford (I just don't get in this one) and the Balcones, but only because in my area it costs at least 45 bugs and so it isn't budget anymore ^^ I would change the Monkey Shoulder for the Ballantine's in my list (for only about 15 bugs it's very ok) and would add the Bufallo Trace (just awesome bang for your buck).
Old Granddad BIB is my favorite bourbon for the cinnamon note in it. I love baking spice flavors but they seem kinda rare in whiskey. Only other bottle I could find them in was the high west double rye
Elijah Craig small batch is my go to for daily sipper. I really enjoy the smokey finish, and the latest batches have delivered that for me. At my local Costco I can get a 1.75 L out the door under $45 Woodford is about the same deal so I’ll have to give that one a try. I’m curious about that balcones but I guess that’s a mid west thing cuz here in my area those bottles come at a premium price. Like $50 for just a 750ml

Woodford Reserve was my introduction to bourbon. I would have liked to see Maker's 46 (which can be found at just under $35) in this round up. It's a favorite budget whiskey for me now. It is funny that I am mentioning two bourbons when I gravitate more towards peaty Scotch, but my tastes in Scotch tend to keep out the more budget-friendly choices.

There's always the go to Buffalo Trace, Old Forrester, Wild Turkey 101, but one that I have recently discovered and enjoy neat, though I know it's not new, is First Call bourbon. It's an IJW. It's not going to be for everyone, but I enjoy the butterscotch notes. The lowest level one is aged around 4 years and I get it for $23. They have a few more aged and I'm pretty sure one of them still hits at the $35 price point, though I've yet to try it because I'm good with the other one for now.
I absolutely love watching y’all!! I need comedy and silliness in my life and y’all combined it with one of my other favorite things in life…WHISKEY!!!!
Wild Turkey 101 is the only whiskey I've ever actually sipped on and I used to buy a bottle maybe once a year with some cigars back when I smoked them. I think it goes good with a cavandish if you happen to smoke a pipe as well. But, I typically buy pretty cheap liquor compared to the stuff my friends drink. I'll only spend over $20 on a bottle if I'm getting absinthe or tequila but then again, I'm just cheap like that lol.
In parts of KS, Weller special reserve for $25. I’m in IA so it’s usually a Makers Mark 46 and Jeffersons Reserve. Also some random ones I like to try out.
Paddy's is my go-to neat sipper and I pay about $20 for a fifth. It's not that I'm not willing to spend more on whiskey, it's just that it tastes quite good for something with such a low price, almost as good as Tullamore DEW, my current favorite Irish whiskey. And the bourbon I will sip neat most frequently is Four Roses, which is $25 for a fifth.
@@22knightx Haven't tried Slane, no, but there are a lot left on my list to try. I haven't yet found an Irish whiskey I genuinely dislike, just ones that I have liked less than others, which is more than I can say for most varieties of whiskey. And I love whiskey above all other liquors.
Loch Lomond 12. I've kept this my personal secret for a long time but I feel like this is the video to share it on. Best budget scotch under $30. If you like Westland you'll love it.
Banknote 5yr blended scotch. A friend reccomended it as a budget option it tastes as good as others in the $100 range but is only $20-$25 a bottle depending on where you buy it
At this price point I would've liked to see how some of the typical low range Scottish single malts stacked up, like Glenfiddich/glenlivet 12, glenmorangie 10, aberlour 10/12, etc.
Well, in TX, where they're located, Glenmorangie 10 is just a little over $35, ranging between $38-45. But other than that, I agree, the 10 is quite nice poured neat.
I'm in washington, and $35 doesn't go a long way here due to I assume shipping and tax. So my picks would be Finnegan single malt from trader joe's. In other states it would be Laphroaig. I also like Tincup out of colorado. Discovered it when I was passing through the town with their distillery at a BBQ joint high up in the rockies, it was a great experience to stumble upon it. Tincup didn't disappoint then and I still love it now!
iv learned i really like rye so bullet rye (but bullet in general) or jack daniels rye can you still get 4 roses cask for under 35 jack daniels bonded jamison stought cask
Yeah. I don't drink 101 straight anymore. I did in my early twenties when it had an 8 year age statement and had older barrels in the blend. Rare breed is only $50, cheap for barrel proof, and 101 keeps getting younger. I did like the 12 year though.
My budget Whisky would be The Quiet man Irish whisky, its like 25€ for 500ml bottle here and just good for the price but if i want a bottle for around 30-35€ i normally stick to Loch Lomond Original Scotch single malt, by far that is my favorite whisky out of the ones i have tasted. Also thanks Whiskey Tribe for introducing me to whisky, its also been a blast to watch you guys for the past few years.
A honey-baked ham thrown at an oak tree with a glancing blow. Yeah, I can understand that. I once tasted a Chateauneuf-du-Pape that reminded me of my third grade classroom. I finally whittled it down to my teacher asking me to clean off the chalkboards. The aroma of the chalk matched a faint aroma of the wine. This is just one of the wonderful things about food and drink.
Woodford is my go to old fashioned bourbon, I always order that combo. I've drank a few liters of that Baclones bourbon and compared to their single malt I always felt it was sub par, but I can't complain too much because I clearly bought three bottles of it and finished them all. I'd still prefer Basil Haydens though.
Actually started with the regular old grandad. Loved it. Loved the bonded even better, and the 114 is exceptional . You either love high rye, or hate it
Really enjoyed this clip! Mine is Buffalo Trace when I can grab it, but since Woodford Reserve is easily available that's the next one I'd like to try after seeing this. Have not seen your #1 yet where i live.🥃
I'm so happy the Woodford reserve is in the budget, means you can have the Arran 10 on the tentative logic they're basically the same price here in the UK... go go go!!!!
Tulamore Dew neat but chilled in the fridge first. bring it to about 37F nice plumb notes with a little apricot at the front sweet caramel tones and with it chilled not much of a bite
Great episode you two. Unfortunately Balcones is not something I've seen much of in Alberta. You'll have to support them for me! Woodford is one I always enjoy. Keep making the entertaining content!
They have only recently started showing up in the 3 stores I peruse. Looks like they are slowly but surely getting more distribution. Haven't tried any of their stuff yet but will get to them at some point
Neat pores $35 or less . Sexton, Buffalo trace, George Dickel 12, Grant triple wood blended scotch, Johnny Walker red, Tin cup, And monkey shoulder. These are all my neat pores
OGD 114 might be my favorite below $50 even. Larceny and Elijah Craig are high up for me along with WT 101. Buffalo Trace sits below those, it's good but sometimes it's a little one-note with the sweet and I've had the ethanol aftertaste be off-putting.
Where I am, Buffalo Trace is only $25, so that's my go-to budget bourbon. Budget Irish is Slane. Budget scotch is Glenrothes 10. If BT wasn't so available, I do like the Jim Beam double oaked.
My favorite low budget is Four Roses. I love how aromatic it is. Though Oregon doesn't quite get the same selection as some other states so I love trying more when I'm out of state.
I always drink my whiskey neat. Kirkland 12 year old Scotch is my go-to everyday whiskey. I love scotch and I LOVE Kirkland 12 neat. I'll add a little water to bourbon (cuz the alcohol makes me sneeze). I love you guys! Rex ROCKS!! Briana is a treasure!!
I always buy Wild Turkey for Thanksgiving, because it amuses me, but it's also a decent drink. Love Evan WIlliams. I've not tried most of the others, but will!
Insane that your #1 is a budget. Here it is premium. With prices up here OGD takes the crown for me. It is 1/3 the price of your #1. Fun to see! Cheers!
Woodford Reserve is a budget whiskey??? Not here in Columbus, Ohio. $40 a bottle if you're lucky. Maybe my idea of budget whiskey is different. I mean $35 a bottle or lower seems reasonable. I just can't find Woodford for that here. I also drink Woodford neat. It's a great bourbon! I'll have to try out some of these others that I've not yet had. Great video as always!
I never thought anyone could make Rex look like the serious one in a segment, but Briana manages it easily.

I've kept this my personal secret for a long time but I feel like this is the video to share it on. Best budget scotch under $30. If you like Westland you'll love it.
Banknote 5yr blended scotch. A friend reccomended it as a budget option it tastes as good as others in the $100 range but is only $20-$25 a bottle depending on where you buy it
My fave budget scotch is Deanston Virgin Oak. Fave budget Bourbon is Four Roses Small Batch
my top 3 budget pours are j.t.s Brown, Speyburn 10 year, Larceny. All great for under 35$.
At this price point I would've liked to see how some of the typical low range Scottish single malts stacked up, like Glenfiddich/glenlivet 12, glenmorangie 10, aberlour 10/12, etc.
Where I live those are all in the $40 to $50 range. I don't think my Costco even sells them sub $35
Well, in TX, where they're located, Glenmorangie 10 is just a little over $35, ranging between $38-45. But other than that, I agree, the 10 is quite nice poured neat.
My favorite is Aerostone Land Cask. I live in Topeka KS, price is usually $29.99, sometimes 24.99, as high as 34.99.
Woodford is my every day go to. Woodford Double Oaked on weekends.
Like the WT 101, but prefer the rye to the bourbon!
Deanston Virgin Oak, Knob Creek 9 yr, and Weller's Special Reserve (These are $45-$55 in Canada, so I suspect around $35 US)
I'm in washington, and $35 doesn't go a long way here due to I assume shipping and tax.
Your ranking is very similar to mine. I will have to try Balcones!
Slane is my Irish choice for this price range.
The non 8 Benchmark bourbons are excellent daily drinkers.
I like Woodford reserve and their rye. I go back and forth between the two.
I'm so happy the Woodford reserve is in the budget, means you can have the Arran 10 on the tentative logic they're basically the same price here in the UK... go go go!!!!
Woodford a top 5 for sure.
Tyrconnell Single Malt and Suntory Toki are two of my favorites in that price range.
Tulamore Dew neat but chilled in the fridge first. bring it to about 37F nice plumb notes with a little apricot at the front sweet caramel tones and with it chilled not much of a bite
Balcones is now available on cruise ship bars. Been loving that.
My go to budget whiskey’s are Jameson, Evan Williams and Canadian Mist.
my favorite budget whiskey is Bucked Up. It is not overly easy to get but I think is quite good.
Early Times (blue label), WT101, OF100, Cooper's Craft BIB. I loved this video!
I’m a fan of Minor Case rye whisky. It’s around $35 and enjoy it neat as well as in my Manhattans.
Everytime I drive thru Waco I gotta stop at the balcones distillery. Super affordable and absolutely delicious. One of my favorites for sure
Neat pores $35 or less . Sexton, Buffalo trace, George Dickel 12, Grant triple wood blended scotch, Johnny Walker red, Tin cup, And monkey shoulder. These are all my neat pores
great video but for reference it needs the list typed out in the description section that would be so helpful
The day Rex takes his stepping stone and Briana becomes the serious one on screen is going to be hilarious. Love the vods.
Their chemistry is fucking great
OGD 114 might be my favorite below $50 even. Larceny and Elijah Craig are high up for me along with WT 101. Buffalo Trace sits below those, it's good but sometimes it's a little one-note with the sweet and I've had the ethanol aftertaste be off-putting.
I enjoyed Rebel Yell 100, neat. It was maybe $22ish here in Idaho.
In my country I can buy four roses single barrel for 32€ and it's great for that price 😊
I agree with Rex on the WT101. Mixer.
Stateside Black Label Bourbon from Philly. My go to! About $40 a bottle and a damn cool bottle that I reuse for making my own stuff.
I always buy Wild Turkey for Thanksgiving, because it amuses me, but it's also a decent drink. Love Evan WIlliams. I've not tried most of the others, but will!
Would have like Teeling Small Batch. It has become mine and my wife's go to.
I actually liked James E Pepper 1776 Rye recently. Also longbranch.
I can usually find standard makers mark for right around 35
