Great line up! Now y'all need a head to head battle between Ardbeg and Bruichladdich.
Then do a shoot out between the winners of both videos! 😉
Ooh....and Bowmore
Just started this video... but if Ardbeg isn't in this video, I will riot!
*flips a table*
*picks up table and cleans the floor*
Ardbeg Uigeadail is probably my favorite. I used to smoke cloves back in the day and drinking Uigeadail is like drinking and having a smoke all at once. It just leaves this mouthfeel that I love with a huge hit of smoke thats big but pleasant.
Title wasn’t obvious?
Oof…
It has to be Port Charlotte. Way more smoky than Ardbeg.
That single frame of "That's what she said" at @10:48 XD
took me a lil to nail it bc was too lazy to look up how to go frame by frame lol, but its actually 10:49, siiiir xD
Alex is the man, does that all the time.
Bruichladdich and Kilchoman. Both are fully NCF and NCA. Kilchoman is also the only family-owned farm distillery on Islay (Ardnahoe is not counted as it is not releasing anything yet)
I'll have to try Kilchoman. I like to support family-owned businesses.
@@fuzzy3440you must!
Kilchoman Machir Bay is my favorite whisky...
Mmmm kilchoman
If you ever get the chance to try comraich, so good (well #2 #3 of the ones I've had were great)
Where does Bowmore fit on this?
Next time do Kilchoman vs Bruichladdich! Appreciate episodes where you guys are just drinking whisky!
Lagavulin 16 in my world is 43% ABV, not 48%. That would be amazing! Love the video! 🥃
Team Islay ALL DAY LONG. thanks for this one.
When it comes to Islay, somehow people always leave out one of my favorites: Bowmore. The whole line up from 10 up to 18 is comparatively affordable, and has a nice moderate smokiness, with an awesome sherry finish
Same. Bowmore is probably my favorite
Nothing beats Laphroaig 10 CS for me
The CS is so aromatic thanks to also being non chill filtered. Why can’t Diageo do NCF and NCA?
I love laphroaig and the cs is great but a little underwhelming for me. Maybe it was just my bottle.
@@imdartson3679 Each bottle/batch I've tried has been com0pletely different, so this is a distinct possibility.
Agree Laphroaig 10 CS is amazing
Another excellent "That's what she said" flasher after the quote at 10:47 Makes me giggle every time.
Because of y'all iv been trying different whiskeys and bourbons, my current bottle is Iron Fish bourbon whiskey finished in maple syrup barrels. My unrefined palette cant tell much other than i like it and it is a lot sweeter than any other unflavored bourbon or whiskey iv had so far.
Glad to see you took my suggestion. Great video.
Lagavulin 16 and any Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroaig - I started with peated scotch and loved it immediately!!! All of the heavy hitters!! Bliss and perfection!! :-) Kilchomen is also amazing! So many!! Big Peat!! Talisker - but I wish it had more ppm!! Great video and many women love strong peat!! Cheers!! 🙂
One of the elements that made the show "Drunk History" so great watching honest talk about a serious subject through the eyes of the inibreated.
Love you guys miss you guys.
This was great. Thanks for including the price in the popup.
Tribe needs to find their "straight" guy. Right now, there are essentially two people with Rex' intensity on the channel. I do appreciate the craziness, but it would be nice if there was someone like Daniel who could balance out the energy.
The quarter cask is my most purchased bottle of liquor, period. I love it.
My fav whiskey of all time
@@binyominfranks2910 Me too. I don't know how they get the lumps of smoked ham sandwich out of it.
Laphroaig 10 is my favorite! Glad to see it did well here!
Literally just bought the Laphroaig 10 on Wednesday evening, & got it on sale for $44 instead your advertised $50. I definitely like it A LOT better than the first Islay i bought which was Shieldaig fro $25. That's not to say the S was bad, but the L10 is definitely more complex & the nice little bit of vanilla on the finish really helps subtly lessen the intensity of the peat.
Talisker. My favorite. 35 yr old I got to try when I was 34 (thank you boss).
ain’t islay
So this is the episode you were just like fuck it lets just drink Islay, I am so there with you. 🤣
I love that you put the prices because then I check Australian prices and go "Oh yeah, twice as much. That makes sense."
Kilchoman is a must try for anyone that likes Islays.
Caol Ila! - the 12 is my daily, 18 is my favorite, the 15 is light, and the distillers edition is wonderfully complex. Also, Black Bottle is a $25 blend of good whiskys. I feel a March Madness bracket is in order for all available Islay offerings! I keep both the 1/4 cask and Lagavulin Distillers Edition on the shelf.
Caol Ila 18 is fantastic. Definitely my favorite.
@@clifcorcoran9917I would love to taste it!
12 is awesome, never have had any of the others
Laphroaig 10 is my favorite of the bunch. So much flavor and slaps ya around.
I agree. Im 43 and my birthdays are just another day. I am however saving up to buy myself a Grand Seiko on my 50th birthday. Gotta do something special for such a milestone.
Great choice. I’d definitely go for the spring drive.
I keep going back to Laphroaig 10 as my daily drinker. I tried the cask strength and the quarter cask recently, but for whatever reason, 10 just hits the sweet spot for me. It's just super lucky that it happens to be extremely affordable!
I do love me some Lagavulin 16, though. That's my go-to "splurge night" whiskey.
Islay is the southwestern most area/islands. It’s almost directly west of Glasgow so I guess it’s more west than south. Peated is the best variety of scotch. 🥃 Sláinte!
My fav is Bunnahabhain, but Kilchoman and Bruichladdich are great. One I'm currently enjoying is Bowmore as well as Coal Ila. So in short....they are all great.
My all time top 3 is still Lore, Corryvreckan and Octomore 10 year Dialogos (interchangeable order). The last Quarter Cask I had really did not live up to my memory of it. Lagavulin has really grown on me the last couple of years :)
Remember the first time Bri had an Islay scotch and she didn’t like it at all? Ah, how times have changed!
You gotta try Scarabus. All of them are wonderful, though my favorite is the batch strength. Awesome tasting notes of oats, pepper, honey and wonderful campfire smoke.
Lagavulin and Caol Isla are my faves!!!
I think this has to be the best video y’all have made to date.
I had never heard of Chinola until I went to the local watering hole last week and they had it, in a new cocktail. First time Ive ever seen it, and now its a Whiskey Tribe sponsor!
Hi Dinie, were excited we are popping up around you, I think its a sign!!
I'm 53 and I don't need cards or anything like that on my birthday, but I DO use that day to go do stuff I like to do.
Totally agree, but sometimes use it as an excuse to get another bottle of something special for the collection...
Got to say I really enjoyed this episode .. you 2 got some serious chemistry
Kilchoman - Sanaig is presently my favourite peated and is battling Swedish distilled High Coast - Älv (River), a non peated whisky for my absolute top spot.
Totally agree with the birthday comment.
I miss Daniel so much so I shaved my head. Well not BECAUSE of him, but because I like how good-looking he is.
anCnoc Peathart. its just amazing.
i really enjoyed this head to head competition, but also the pace in which it is presented, it is goldilocks not to fast and not to slow
Ardbeg 10, Uigeadail, An Oa, some of my absolute favorites at different price points, from gifting to more casual enjoyment.
Edit: but after watching the full video I feel very validated since I have a bottle of Laphroaig 10 that I adore
They know the way to my heart!! I ❤️ Laphroaig!!
Ardbeg and Port Charlotte/Octomore
Oh Lore, so, so good. Uigeadail was my favourite Islay until I came across Lore. Just salty, smokey perfection!
Laphroaig cask strength is my favorite "affordable" drink.
Bruichladdich's Octomore 8.3 really sticks out in my mind !!!!!!! But the different batches are all over the map for me.
Im lucky to have both Laphroaig 10 and Lagavulin 16 together and that 10 really holds its own with the 16. 10 is my prefered daily driver scotch. But that 16 is special - with that warmth and sherry note with the peat. 10 has the smoky punch with the sweet undertones. It's around 47 bucks by me right now and a great value. So i save the 16 for special occasions. Great vid.
Need to try these...but I like Bunnahabhain 12 and it's an Islay ❤
You should do the 10 or 12 year old editions of every Distillery on Islay or the flagship editions of every Distillery on islay
I like both brands of whisky, but for me my favourite Islay whisky is 'Smokehead unfiltered' but both brands you brought on are classics
These two are just plain snookered, and I am here for all of it.
Maybe it’s my favorite because it reminds me of the bonfires on the beach when I was a kid, but my favorite is the Talisker Storm. I’d love to see an episode on Talisker whiskies
Lagavulin makes some absolutely fantastic Scotch. I've never had anything from them I didn't enjoy. But damn, you just can't beat Laphroaig for the price. The 10 year and quarter cask are fuckin amazing for the price
Laphroaig Quarter Cask or Caol Ila 12 are my favorites of all standard whiskys, both from Islay.
For a while, Costco was carrying Lagavulin Offerman edition. I really like that one.
Gotta add Ardbeg of course.
Talisker Storm is my all time favorite!
Bunnahabhain 12 has been my favorite Scotch that I’ve found!
We need a VS series now for the Islays. Ardbeg VS Bowmore
Bruichladdich VS Kilchoman
Bunnahabhain VS Coil Ila!
Love this idea. Even the matches you chose
Happy to know we've made it to the "real-deal" of passion fruit liqueurs. Cheers to Chinola Whiskey Sours!
My favourite Islay whisky is Bruichladdich Organic 2009. Doesn't all need to be peat!
Some suggestions:
Talisker Dark Storm
The Peat Monster
Islay Mist
I know they dont exactly meet the requirements requested, but these are all fun whiskeys that hold a special place in my heart.
I don't like what the charred casks do to the Dark Storm, too much vanilla. Storm is better to me. Hell, I would just stick with the 10. Or the Distiller's Edition
Dark Storm to me is like a comfort food whisky. It's like a bowl of mac and cheese at 3AM. It just feels nice and without much fanfare.
Islay Mist is such an underrated blend. Criminally affordable!
Compass Box is widely underrated. I’ve only had the Orchard House and that is great neat and in cocktails.
My goto Islays: Laph10 (probably my #1 as its best flavor-meets-val), Lag16 (best flavor), Ardbeg10 (solid pour to mix in after killing a Laph10), PortCharlotte10 (a reminder that there's more than Laph/Lag/Ard).
Keep track of all the #1's from this series. Then do an Isla show down episode. Plus I would have wanted to see where the Laphroaig cask strength landed for ya'll. It's my #2 just behind Octomor.
Laphroaigh cask strength is to die for!
Love the Laphroaig 10! Hard to beat at $30 in my area.
Cool blind. Needed an Ardbeg in there tho!
scallywag 12 year cask strength is a great bottle if you can get your hands on it its a little limited but 100% worth it
My favorite R & B group. B had be grinning from ear tot ear 😀
Looking forward to the rest of the good Islays (caol ila / port askaig, kilchoman, bunnahabhain, ardbeg).
I guess maybe bowmore could be there too :)
What a great concept
While it's a highland whiskey and not an Islay, one I would like to see you try is Ancnoc 12. It is a Scotch unlike any other I have tried.
I am definitely going to have to check out the Laphroaig Quarter Cask.
I sometimes call people by the wrong name, but it is usually more like an affectionate nickname, like "Banana" for "Briana." BTW, I noticed at 13:37 that she has a drinking problem.
Oban's Distillers Edition was amazing while it lasted. Need to get another bottle. Gotta try the Lagavulin Distiller's Edition next, though!
I adore this hilarious brilliant young woman! If she ever leaves….. I leave. Bri is genius!
Simp
@@weslegna spoken like a true loser. GFYS
Kilchoman definitely deserves to be tried.
Everything is worth trying from Islay.
Hey Rexam! The last few years, I've celebrated my birthdays (I'm 53) by taking whiskey trips. Several have been to visit you, specifically YOU (and Crowded Barrel, and Wizard Academy, and Still Austin, and Garrison Bros, and Ironroot). So don't look a gift bird in the bush before it hatches...🤔🤪
That's how it's done dude!!! Well played.
Almost any day is a good day to look a gift bird in the bush (some restrictions may apply)
I love the iodine smokey sweetness of 40% ABV Laphroaig 10. The 43% ABV and also the Lore is more Lagavulin-y
Broooo Sponsored by the drink of my peoples! Let's goooo!
Y'all gotta make a boozy "Morir Soñando" (To Die Dreaming). It's the drink of my childhood,
It's basically Chinola, Milk, and Condensed Milk. Love it with a pinch of Cinnamon or Nutmeg.
It's divine. Truly to DIE for!
Laphroig Red Stripe, classiest of them all and an absolute treat for anyone lucky enough to get it.
Based on a Whiskey Tribe video, I bought Laphroaig 10, that crap tasted and smelled like Champo Phenique. I gave it away. Thats some good Gnat!
Laphroaig 10 I can drink all day and love the vanilla note at the end
I'm a big fan of the offerman 11 but a cheaper and similar taste is Port Charlotte 10 heavily peated. I'm awfully fond of Longrow NAS from Campbeltown as well.
My top for Islay that I’ve had
Bruichladdich- Only had the Classic Laddie
Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength
Ardbeg An Oa
I foresee many great treats for you in the future my lucky friend ;)
I’m a card-carrying member of the Cult of Ardbeg, but when I made my Islay pilgrimmage and did my rounds through the various distilleries I was _particularly_ impressed by what Bunnahabhain was cooking up. I’d love to hear you guys’ take on their lineup!
man ! i love peat so much.
octomore for sure!!
Yeah I never got the love for the Lagavulin 8, it just feels harsh, young and not ready. Lore on the other is a masterpiece, I absolutely love that whisky.
Another good one from Islay.......Kilchoman Sanaig.
You can do it for islands like ledaig vs talisker. Lovely comparison
I love me the Islay trifecta but I was actually pleasantly surprised by Port Askaig 8. Wouldn’t say it’s my favorite but it was really nice. Honestly I might like Talisker over Islay whiskeys but the Jura’s still out! 😅😅😅
Port Askaig is pretty good. It's literally Caol Ila but less diluted, non-chill-filtered and non-coloured.
Laphroaig 10 is a classic for a reason. Not need to be ashamed 😄.
I do have a soft spot for all things Jura!
Darn you guys, I've managed to stay away from it this entire time but now it looks like I'm going to have to go and buy myself some quarter cask!
Only one minute in. I love how she says "Highland", he hears "Island", and they go with it!
Rex, my man. Every birthday is an opportunity to have people gift you more whiskey.
Since there are only 8-9 islay distilleries, it’ll be really cool to do all!!
It depends on what I'm in the mood for; I like Laphroaig for the stronger punch, Lagavulin for the salty/briny feeling.
peat monster is a good blend and tomintoul is great too
I sure wish we had those prices in the Panhandle of Texas. Every one of those is marked up from 15 to 30 bucks.
Kilchoman of course, and Ardbeg. David vs. Goliath. Looking forward to.
Port Charlotte 10, Bunna 12, Uigedail, Laddie 8
