    I got my 2023 Pro X premium, I’ve had it almost a year. About 9k miles on it. Never had any issues! I love it! The premium model came with the tech package and leather seats, sunroofs, Fender Audio package (which is awesome!) rino lined bed, LED bed lights, heated steering wheel, remote start, etc.

    2WD trucks are very capable off road if you remove traction control. You can tow more on this ProX, and clearly 4x4 trucks have a different goal besides off road destruction hobby, but I’ve seen 2WD trucks doing great things if you drive safely on mud and rut.

    I have viewed a fair number of Nissan Pro4X video reviews. This ProX review is very well done. I like the detail of going through buttons and gadgets. I own a 2023 Pro4X and i actually learned a few things watching your review. I traded my 2017 Colorado for the Pro4X and I'm growing to like it very much. It's true 4WD is rarely needed, just a nice to have. The steering is heavy, but one becomes accustomed to it fairly quickly. My Colorado had an oil pump recall soon after purchase and there are a lot of tranny "shudder" problems with the 8 speed. I needed a new tourque converter before 25,000km. Hoping for better results with the Frontier, like the look and ride a lot so far. Thanks for a great video!

    the pro-X is 200Lbs lighter than the Pro-4x . that's of some substance being about 7% of the trucks weight. combined with a light ( nismo ) wheel and tire selection , you can drop almost another 100 Lbs. so you'll gain in total about 4-5mpg compared to the pro-4x. the tire/wheel combo on the S and SV are 16" with more a road/car tire . so this Pro-X is for someone whos an in between of the street to offroad range. less potential for mechanical , and or less cost involved with transmission related services. the lower total weight of the Pro-x compared to 4x may be because of the lighter truck total weight , allowing for the higher towable weigh .

    I absolutely love my 2023 Pro-X, had it a year now. Its my third Frontier (2004, 2011, 2023). I need to add a few things, I had a Line-X bedliner sprayed, now I need the side rails and add in some rails in the bed. After that, its just about perfect! The 2WD version is good on the dirt roads where 4WD isn't needed.

    The Pro-X in two wheel drive is primarily a cosmetic treatment. Makes sense for those who like the look, but have no real need for the four wheel drive. I like the look, but 99% of the time my driving is commuting or driving around town, and a good per cent of that is highway driving. If I have two wheel drive, a locking wheel differential provides all the additional capacity I would ever need. I'd be looking at this outfit option, but I like the look and upgrades of the SL better.

  • @silicron

    It'd be cool if they added a rear locking differential if ya wanted to tow a small boat or wave runners to use it on the boat ramp as you pointed out also the 4wd is more for hard core off road & rock crawling but on dirt roads & driving through state parks leisurely ya don't really need the 4wd but the added clearance is useful like a desert runner is set up differently than a rock crawler & on roads that may flood a little where the added clearance helps I'd still like the locking rear differential on the pro x like the pro 4 x has for those that don't need or use 4wd may occasionally utilize the locking diff in certain situations it'd be very handy

    • @texa5boi

    • @marksullivan8200
      @marksullivan8200 8 месяцев назад

      @@texa5boi yes more traction is better than less but a locking diff is immediate & would be ideal on the pro x as it has clearance & beefed up suspension with rear wheel drive so a locking rear differential would be a great option

  • @deweysturgill6220
    @deweysturgill6220 Год назад +2

    Something that people are missing is this is from the old Baja pre runners. It's all about speed, range, better suspension action and reliability.
    Nissan would absolutely kill it with this truck if it had an actual locking differential.
    With the traction control system being programmed for it, it would have pretty good offroad capability and a helluva lot better handling and better fuel economy than a 4wd.
    As is its just a good looking truck for flat landers..

    Love the PRO X 4x2 with Dana rear end. Very cool! Only thing that might be problem is the power driver seat, seen and read Nissan made the seat 1-1/2 inches smaller and that the seat moves a little unintentionally. PRO X 4x2 fits a lot of people who want the off road look and feel but don’t t actually dive off road 99% of the time. PRO X less parts, less weight, less cost.

    I bought a Nissan Pro X back in September of 2023. The main reasons for me are I don't need or will use a 4X4 and I did not want to pay the extra money for an option I will never use, I'm not a young pup, I'm an old dude who has no more need to go 4 wheeling and tear up my vehicle! Sounds like good reasons to me! Plus, as I have learned with other makes and models with 4X4, a vehicle with no 4X4 option seems to always tow more and better.

    Love my 23 Nissan Frontier Pro4x. I drove and compared it to the 23 Ranger FX4, Tacoma TRD Off-Road and the 23 GM twins and liked this truck over all of them. Mainly because it felt like a truck and had all of the off-road stuff I wanted. It also drives nice on road where I do most of my driving. I have almost 5,000 miles on it and it has not given me any trouble so far. It has good acceleration and the seats are very comfortable, I also love the way the dash and controls are laid out and the FENDER Sound System is one of the best sounding out there. I also love the looks of this truck. The 23 Ranger and Tacoma both felt like they were 10 years old and the GM models were nice but I don't trust a 4 cylinder turbo. This truck checks all the boxes for me and what I need a truck for. It was $45,000 out the door but that is fully loaded with all packages you could get. Comparable Ranger, Tacoma and GM trucks were around $10,000 more and asking above MSRP plus they didn't have any inventory.

      Thanks for this. Bought a new 2023 off the lot, Pro 4X Nismo edition. I’ve just reached 1k miles and it’s starting to feel really sluggish when accelerating. I’ve seen others make similar comments after break-in period. I thought I might’ve switched it into eco drive mode, but can’t seem to find any ways to change driving modes anywhere now (eco, sport, manual). 😢Dealership added the lift, and big off-road tires: 285/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Look sweet with the bronze wheels-but people saying they’re likely slowing me down? Pushing trany too much? Sure shifts quickly to higher gears! Trying to figure out how to improve torque/acceleration. Anyone?

      I leased a 3rd gen tacoma and then got a rav4 hybrid in 2020. I loved the tacoma. The engine was bulletproof but the transmission was just blah.. tons of gear hunting on the highway and it was an sr5 with xp package. I loved my rav4 hybrid..no issues.. had it for 4 years. I wanted to get back into a mid-sized truck. The tacoma is way overpriced with the options I would want. You literally have to spend over $50k if you want leather. They're packages are wack. After hearing issues with the turbo tundra and new issues popping up on the tacoma i didn't even bother test driving one. I test drove the canyon which is a beautiful truck but i researched tons of issues with them even still with the 24s and that is also a turbo 4.I then test drove the 24 frontier pro-x and came home with that. I was able to get a great deal and it's loaded. The zero gravity seats are the most comfortable seats I've sat in any vehicle. The upgraded fender Audio with subwoofers sound fantastic. Yes it doesn't have a fancy all digital display but everything there with buttons is intuitive and just works.The engine felt fantastic...good torque off the line and buttery smooth transmission. Oh the cabin is super quiet also quieter than both my toyotas.I don't trust Nissan cvts but the frontier 3.8l NA v6 is a great engine that's proven and it has a 9 speed Mercedes transmission. I've had a pre cvt altima and a nissan z in the past and had no issues with them.

    The lighting sucks in my22 pro4x particularly the panel of features low and to.left of steering wheel . I don't understand why they only backlight a few of the buttons and not all ? Or at least a little bit of light should would've been logical. IF YOU PLAN TO DRIVE THIS AT NIGHT, YOU WILL NEED A FLASH LIGHT JUST FOR THE CAB. On that note too bad you can not operate the rear interior light from the same place as the front light seriously with out a flashlight if it is dark you will have to pull over to engage or find the features between the driver door and steering wheel and forget about seeing if you remembered to put something in the back seat dark as a coal cave without lights . These are such obvious oversights hard to imagine how they were made

    The Chevy does have an overbuilt 4cyl engine almost like a diesel on the bottom end however the Nissan has a real transmission not a cvt transmission that wear out & the Nissan's transmission is a Mercedes design licensed to jayco so if properly maintenance it'll last 3 times longer than any cvt out there as their good for 85k or so & most of them can't find gears very well the Nissan is the best old school style truck using tried & true systems & by adding nismo leveling/lift kit & upgraded better billstien shocks with external resivoirs & nismo light weight wheels & tires of your choice dramatically improves the already nice ride quality as many people like to customize their trucks & make it their own adding those dealer installed options really transforms the already great platform & still cost a little less than competitive top trim trucks & as he pointed out this truck is built to easily outlast most

      1st I don't know what you are talking about as far as the Pro-x not being available anymore... it is readily available at dealerships across country.. I found that through google. Not very hard. 2nd Nissan has more build options and configurations for the Frontier than any other midsized truck including several 6ft bed options. FYI 6ft bed options do not volume sell the way the quad cab 5ft bed does so be thankfull they still offer it. Not to mention Ford, Chevy and GMC do not offer a 6ft bed in their midsize trucks so not sure what you are complaining about.

    Too expensive, should be half that price. As soon as you drive away, value is $30K.

    Agree. Needs 4x4 for off-road confidence. Having owned 3 Frontier 4x4's I really liked them and used 4x4 regularly as a hunter. However I recently traded my last Frontier for a Gladiator Mojave and it's pretty awesome too! Still need a HD work truck.

      Between the Gladiator and the Frontiers you’ve had, which do you prefer?

    You want the honest answer? 4WD weighs a lot so you can boost your payload capacity by negating the weight of 4WD so now Nissan can say “Better payload than Tacoma”

    In Hawaii you don't really need 4x4

    A 2WD off-road truck is really dumb. It might be 1700 more for the 4WD version but the resale will be 10k more in 2 years. Nobody’s gonna want that in a used truck.

    Don't even try to wrap your head around it. If it just doesn't make sense, it just aint a real truck. I'd just go shop around. That half truck aint the only truck inbthe world. Go get yourself a worthy truck that is a 4X4 with a rear differential wheel lock.

    The transmission is a Mercedes design just as the engine is much like an upgraded penestat engine & billstien it's almost as though it was once designed as a new Dodge Dakota that was scrapped for the hurricane engine upgrade instead the frontier also seems like it waited for the patent on the f150 front windows it definitely is a very well built truck

      I didn’t necessarily bad mouth the truck - it’s a great truck. I was just saying it’s interesting that it’s an off-road style truck with 2wd. Nothing wrong with that, but I can understand why you didn’t want to watch

    🔥👎🔥👎 the driving lights when the engine is running you cannot turn them off. If you want to sit in your driveway waiting for somebody you cannot turn those lights out, so IPO the fuse out I want to be able to turn my lights on or off whenever I want to, and I mean all of them. 👎🔥👎🔥👎🔥👎

    🔥👎🔥👎🔥. I should’ve never bought my 2022 Nissan frontier crew cab I have a huge regret. 🔥👎🔥👎🔥👎 I would be happy with a 1997 extended cab, taxi, automatic four-cylinder. This particular truck the 2022 or the 2023 has too many sensors on the dash very stiff steering. And the radio is very unreliable. Good luck getting rid of that radio and getting something better fat chance. 🔥👎🔥👎🔥👎🔥👎
