    Tanks a lot for the guideline! Our battery died yesterday, 5 days after the end of the warranty🎉... luckily in Front of our home. during the swap i Noticed, that the connector for the Frunk Light wasnt plugged in. I also had to remove it, because the New battery is a little bit bigger. The Light in the Frunk instantly wents on, if the hood is unlocked, btw... Overall it Took me 20 minutes, thanks to your advice!

    @Bassie, same happened to us just before year end. The car just came to a halt and had to be recovered. The dealership concluded the ICCU was the cause of the problem and was replaced (including the high voltage fuse). The 12V battery appeared to be still healthy.

      Hi @Ronald, my ICCU is already replaced last November (the EV6 was 1 month at the dealer). So hope it is not again the same issue... 😬

    • @Boxlopper
      @Boxlopper 11 месяцев назад +1

      I also had exactly the same problem on my EV6. ICCU fuse blew last May and part took a month to arrive from Korea. Today, my 12V battery completely died (not sure it's a battery problem though) and the car is having to be recovered to the dealer on a low loader. Brian, have you had any issues with Octopus since you went on Intelligent (connected via Zappi rather than the car) draining the 12V battery? My car is a 2022 or at least the plate is May 2022.

    We have a Kia Soul. All the different versions of Kia EVs seem to suffer from cases of 12v battery failure. To only offer a 2yr warranty on a 12v battery when after market suppliers give 4 or 5yr warranties is unacceptable especially when they make a big deal of their 7yr warranty. My experience indicates that the problem is not the battery but the onboard charger. We have so far had three failures in 3yrs. After the second failure (just outside the 2yr warranty) they replaced the battery and charged me £95. As I had reported the first failure (which included a week of investigation with no fault found) Kia UK did eventually refund my payment. The reason I believe that the problem is the onboard charger is that after the first failure I fitted a 12v voltage monitor which recorded a graph of the failure over a 6hr period. The voltage was swinging between 7.5v and 19v and at no time was it resting in the 12-14v range. It is no wonder that the 12v battery failed! I passed this graph on to Kia but there seems to be little interest in this. A friend of mine had his battery fail in 30mins during a short stopover. He also has the monitor fitted. In his case the 12v battery was pulled down to 9v without any loads.

    thanks for the video! I have an issue after replacing the 12V battery. The SoC changed from 60% to 255%. I wonder if any reset in BMS is required and if yes, how to do that. I also noted that the LDC output voltage changed from 14.x V to 13.x V, I wonder if this is normal? Appreciate your comments.

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  7 месяцев назад +1

      It’s a glitch in Car scanner i think. 8 bit number 255=100% SOC. LDC output does vary whilst you drive it so quite normal. The 255 thing normally goes away after a day or 2. You also get it if you simply disconnect 12v battery for a few minutes.

    Couple of points
    I recommend the NoCo boost pack if you get these issues. Once the 12v drops below 10v the car is unresponsive.
    Happened to me before Christmas, got it back from the dealer yesterday and they fitted a new battery, after testing they advised they found no parasitic drains after a week of monitoring the battery just died after 15 months.
    Also, having worked at Halfords for 6yrs, word is that the Halfords batteries are made by Yuasa so I understand the only difference is the price...

      Cheers for info .Do you have a link to the Noco boost pack? I have one from 2020 but the disappear off Amazon pretty quickly.

      We tried a different make of booster pack after the first failure. It couldn't provide enough power to lift the voltage enough to turn on the car. We eventually managed to raise the voltage by leaving a 10A battery charger connected for 35mins. On the third occasion, as the car was remotely parked, I resorted to a jump start using my Tesla. All highly unsatisfactory.

    The EV 6 comes with a 7 year warranty. Although the 12v battery warranty is 2 years, does changing the 12V batteru void the 7 year warranty on the rest of the car? The dealer and Kia remain very vague about this and it currently withholds me from replacing the battery myself

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  13 дней назад

      As long as you replace with same type Lead/Acid then I've never heard it's a problem. If you put an LFP 12v replacement on then I've read that this could cause problem but never seen anything official from Kia

    When you take out the 12 volt battery do you lose setting etc. within car? If so what settings are are they recovered? I have seen others recommend running a relay from the terminals to a trickle charger before you disconnect the battery

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  11 месяцев назад

      No settings are lost apart from drive mode and the cluster screen in the binnacle reverts back to the car Icon. You can also back settings in Kia Connect in EU version.

      @evodessey thank you for that. We in Australia do not have Kia Connect in the ev6, only the Niro. Go figure, the cheapest has it the dearest doesn't.

    I had battery issues last week and will go to the dealer tomorrow. My 12V battery died after +/- 30min. So what is the biggest capacity that can be placed? I saw that the Kia one in your video was 62ah and the one at halfords was 65ah. But are there also ones that are bigger and will fit the compartment?

    • @evodessey
      @evodessey  11 месяцев назад

      Sorry to hear about your battery. Gets us all in the end. How old is your car? What will fit is all down to dimensions i would guess. Dimensions of the Halfords one are the same as the replacement one ie bigger than the original. I will measure the dimensions later when it’s warmed up a bit outside.

    • @youbencowell
      @youbencowell 11 месяцев назад +1

      The dimensions of the battery are standard, but the capacity changes according to the manufacturer however they are all similar to each other.

    • @evodessey

      My wife's Zoe has had a Yuasa battery since 2021,no problems. Something has to be going on with your car. Have you ever had your EV6(assuming it's an EV6) connected to Intelligent Octopus Go via Kia Connect?, do you regularly drive your EV below 20% Stat of Charge ?

    • @StuartJ
      @StuartJ 11 месяцев назад

      @@evodessey Octopus intelligent (although it's disabled in the octopus account). I rarely go below 20%. I do have an DIMO device connected (which is an AutoPI). That shouldn't pull much current.

    • @prevailz1
      @prevailz1 11 месяцев назад

      @StuartJ the dimo is what's killing your batteries, especially if you're not driving, the car is not accounting for that drain, also have you manually updated recently?

    • @StuartJ
      @StuartJ 11 месяцев назад

      @@prevailz1 maybe, although I have a DIMO in another car, and that's ok. I thought the EV6 was supposed to charge the 12v battery if the voltage was too low.
