Another big factor to consider is the length of training period. For example an internal medicine residency in the US is only 3 years Vs Australia is minimal 7 years! And keep in mind it could be longer based on the progression. That’s 4-5 years more spent in training while you could be making $250-300k USD/year in US. Lastly the progression of resident in Australia is not only based on knowledge but also on interpersonal skills as well. Can be a hurdle for IMGs that are finding it difficult to adjust.
Another thing to conder is work hours . From what I know in Australia & Uk you have 40 hrs / week & that's what the basic salary is based on . Working more than that would be considered overtime . Whereas in max work hour limit for doctors is 80 hrs / week . That would significantly affect the per hour income
You have to be a really good student in the US to be a doctor. You have to have almost 4 to 4.8 GPA to go to a best university to get accepted for the MCAT track, then you have to have 3.9 GPA and 515 MCAT score to get into MD program. Only foreigners lucky to skip that.
In Australia if you are earning $250,000 and above then your tax bracket is 45%. Your monthly take home salary after all the tax deductions will be around AUD 13,900 which is nothing in today's Australia where the cost of living is skyrocketing. You are just able to manage a middle class lifestyle in this income.
@@EmergencyFocus it hardly make any impact on your take home salary. People who operate as companies are very minimal. The majority of doctors are employed by hospitals so they have to pay 45% tax. Not just in Australia as I have doctors in my family working in the US also pay around 40% tax including federal, state, FICA etc and mostly doctors in the UK who are making 6 figures also pay 45% tax.
@AZ.1988 Then what your stance is? Not to go in any of these countries? Or maybe you are also one of those people, who just golirfy the supreme America?😂
Sir my main reason to move out of my country is to live a peaceful life with not much population and good fresh environment. Pollution free air and natural beauty. Is there less population density in Australia, or is it also densely populated. Is vehicle traffic on roads very much or mostly roads are empty and we can have a pleasant drive??
Amazing video and love the positive vibes. Thank you very much for sharing this valuable information Hoping to get my first job in NHS soon and use it as a platform to move to Aus.
Dear doctor i would really appreciate if you also mentioned about the 40% tax deductions from salaries especially in the US which includes Federal tax, state tax, social security, Medicare etc..
These salary numbers look fancy but you are telling the half truth because a significant portion of these salaries goes into taxes. You will hardly get 60% of it as a take home salary plus the insane cost of living and housing crisis is sweeping the middle class in the US, UK, Australia and Canada... Well the government of UK will surely increase the salaries. This situation can not last any longer. I mean 15 pounds an hour is literally a joke.
The expenses in the UK are also a major drain !
They will bring PAs in and neglect doctors
UK has been saturated
It can because physician associates are taking over the jobs and preventing the increase of speciality training programmes.
