U know just for booking plab 1 u need oet and after oet you will get a seat for plab 1 atleast after 9-12 months for example GMC is opening plab 1 seat for Feb and May 2024 in june 2023 📅 it's not easily available, also the pass percentage is 60-65% for part one , after plab 1 you will book plab part 2 which will be available after 6-8 months and again consider pass percentage is approx 60 % so alot of PPL need to give this again also after passing GMC registration will take 1-3 months then comes the job the avarage time is 3-9 months so the total time from oet to uk fy2 job is 2-2.5 years if someone pass everything in first attempt.. so u mentioned 4-6 month till getting into foundation year 2 is not a correct information as plab 1 seat are not available like before

I would like to add that it’s incredibly difficult to book plab 1 and plab 2 seats and Manik said 6months time frame referring to the study duration. Plab is relatively easier to crack study wise, subject material is less and difficulty is low. However, the fact that the exam itself is only conducted 4 times a year and only limited number of seats are released twice a year, it is virtually impossible to clear plab in 6 months. Realistically I’d say it takes about 12 months from the day you clear ielts to getting GMC registered. And then an unknowable period of time in between applying for jobs and landing your first job. And roughly another 6-12 months between the start of the non training Job and getting into a training program. So for a hard comparison USMLE AND PLAB both will take you about 2 years before you can have a shot at getting residency. But plab will take longer to finish unless you want to be a GP ! However, you’ll work lesser hours at a stretch in the UK. So it’s almost the same deal you either work for a lesser duration of time over 5 to 6 years or you work 80 hours a day in 3 years. Both options you leave your country and get a better training and quality of life. Salaries are comparable however, in later years, US doctors will make more.

Hi Manik, PLAB pathway has become harder and it DOES NOT take 4-6months from the start to obtain a job as an FY2 anymore. It’s become harder to find seats for plab 1, the wait period is as long as a year for PLAB 1, 3-4 months for PLAB 2, 1 month for registration and to find a job it takes anywhere from 2-6months depending on the strength of the CV. This is all excluding the 1month long wait for results for all the exams.

Plab is far easier my step 1 knowledge was enough to pass the plab exam with ease and high score questions aint tricky and quite direct on PLAB. Given both, usmle is any day harder and painful exam specially step 2 with brute memorisation. If u try to convince PLAB pathway is harder the mental stress usmle initial pathway puts you through is alot. Within one year you can get GMC registered its not the same with usmle, exam takes preparation, even for the people with strong foundation.

Some corrections - Plab2 is 16 Stations and not 18 and FY2 doesn't mean internship. Once you get the full GMC registration you'd start off as fy2 which is similar to house officer.

Most of the channels about usmle preparation doesn't really talk about real time experience whilst doing their UCSEs ... Like how did the chose the programme , what things it offered them and how were they able to get LORs that were good enough to land them in some amazing specialities. And they don't talk about networking either. I wish someone would make video of it.

@@abdullahmalik718 It depends on what is your status, designation, how much you can negotiate, like outside USA doctor first need to be ECFMG certified, then he/she needs to do training to become a physician/surgeon in USA, during training work hours are defined less than 80 hrs., and after training, you negotiate between annual salary and working hours per week, also depend on your visa status. as I stated above Hospitalist work 5 to 6 months per year, there schedule is 7 days work and next 7 days off, and plus some places gives your extra vacation days per year.

To all my sisters in Islam...
"Do not marry polytheist (mushrik) women until they believe; for a believing slave-woman is better than a free polytheist (mushrik), even though she may look pleasant to you.
And do not marry your women to polytheist (mushrik) men until they believe; for a believing slave-man is better than a free polytheist (mushrik), even though he may look pleasant to you. They invite you to the fire while Allah invites you to paradise and forgiveness by his grace. He makes his revelations clear to the people so perhaps they will be mindful." (Al-baqarah 2:221)
it's just a reminder sister to please stay away from hindu boys because theres a campaign called BHAGWA LOVE TRAP started by RSS in 2017 where hindu boys have been trained to lure and induce muslim girls into fake love trap to destroy their Life akhirah and most importantly their EMAAN and emaan of their coming generations. They falsely claim to love you/be friends with you but all they do is to have sex with you make you pregnant and then leave you all alone thus destroys your life or else force you to convert to hinduism after marriage thus destroys your emaan ! In the shadow of the fake narrative of Love Jihad( which rarely happens or they themselves create dummy cases to degrade Muslims and Islam), hindus have already pregnant, aborted and murdered many Ayeshas, sanas, fatemas, afrins, parvins etc but obviously those cases never get highlighted in the mainstream media coz the girl is muslim and boy is hindu otherwise if the opposite happens they telecast it for about a month!
So please be alert and only marry muslims when the time comes
PLEASE share this verse with every muslim sister in your contact list without hesitation just for the sake of Allah.🙏 May Allah bless and protect our sisters in Islam

    Hi Manik, great video. :)
But certain facts about UK are incorrect and may spread misinformation. You don’t enter as an FY2 after GMC Reg. I didn’t enter as one and know a lot of IMGs who directly enter training. Most people do a few months of non training and then start core training. FY2 is a choice, so when you enter UK you don’t necessarily start as ‘an intern’. :)
Also, residency here is longer, but not 9 years, max 7 years. IMT is a 7 year pathway from ST1 to ST7, where you come out as Cardiologist/Resp, again depending on specialty. Again, varies from specialty to specialty.
Also equivalent to moonlighting is locums here, which most junior docs do, but there are some restrictions wrt hours. :)

The only issue which is reflected by your comparison is consultant positions in NHS. You can work as consultant in gulf with same pay as a consultant would get in USA. If this issue is settled plab is way more worthier according to this analysis.

However, when it comes to weight of degrees, gulf countries prefer USMLE graduates rather than PLAB/MRCP graduates mostly because the latter has had training programs in other countries outside of the UK including the middle East. However, the US degree is extremely valuable and you get starting pay in the Gulf equivalent to people who senior doctors who have worked there for 10+ years(who graduated from other countries like India,Nepal, etc.)

      Ameen .

I learnt UK doctors greatly supplement dier income with locum jobs so @ d end, d difference in salary is not so much ,(like 10-20% more for US consultants Vs UK attending in some specialities)

Have you done research about USMLE and a student can also do directly MRCS or MRCP exam of UK after their MBBS is done. They can directly give this exam and enter to core training but MRCS or MRCP has 2 parts as well and it tough then PLAB. I am taking this route directly going to give MRCS. they also have condition that if any student have even just applied for even once in PLAB then that student can give MRCS or MRCP directly and they should have 2 years of practice which is needed only in part 2 of this exam. You can search about it...
