It will be ashame to use that motor, you should put it in an art gallery ! : )
Another great video Mike
Thanks!
On 200 tdi there's a gaskit between bellhousing and block I use them gaskit on na and td block
To lock flywheel I use the alternator tention bracket between flywheel and bellhousing hole
I started a 19j up outside with 2 flywheel bolts just to test and crankcase pressure sent oil through flywheel bolt holes lol
Which is why I put the flywheel on before removing the bush!
Nice job 👍 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your really great attention to detail, can't wait to see it running
You and me both!
You're making good progress, King Mike.
Cheers 🥃
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work.
I put a Borg and Beck clutch in my 96 disco so far so good 👍🏻
Good stuff
Hi Mike, absolutely love watching your channel and have learnt so much. I'm a home self taught tinkerer so watching your content is really helpful when I'm struggling with things on my disco 1 300tdi, anyway Less waffle from me lol are you going to run up the 2.5 petrol on the bench when it's built? It would be good to see it run
Thanks Mike and keep the content coming
Jon
Yes I will as soon as I can find a right hand engine mount and carb!
Nice work there! :)
Thank you! Cheers!
great videos.
Glad you like them!
Top tip for fitting things like a clutch cover: a few mm of a suitable rubber hose (something like fuel or air hose is ideal) stuffed inside a 13mm socket means bolts won't slide back into the socket, and makes it much easier to start a bolt into a recessed hole.
I do something similar with my socket to get wheel nuts off and protects the stainless caps from damage
I'm amazed you managed to find a rocker cover that isn't cracked because of over tightening...
This engine had done hardly any miles - the only reason for building it was that a piston was seized due to rust
Did I miss a video of you fitting oil pump and sump. Great work though 👍
Coming soon - got the uploads the wrong way round!
Ah good thought I missed something
Saw that you’re using a soft rubber seal as opposed to the stiff teflon ones used originally?
The pre 300Tdi 5 bearing engines used rubber seals - much better
@@BritannicaRestorations - are you sure?? I’ve taken apart three 200tdi’s - one of them a low milage straight from the breaker - all used the teflon ones w metal casing..? (And what a pain to fit them again….!)
I know you have put plenty of assemble lube into this build so how long can that engine sit happily in the container?
Quite a few years
@@BritannicaRestorations Oh wow, good to hear. I Know you want to get it put away due to the race against the arrival of snow where you are.
Indeed - we have quite a dry cold here so not so bad ( that is why heat pumps work ok here, but not in the UK) so less likelihood of corrosion when dry stored
Are you going to start it?? Or straight to storage ??
Need a carb and a right hand engine mount for a Defender first = may take a while
I thought the rear crank seal went in dry? Had to do this on my 2.5 diesel. Otherwise it leaked (pi$$ed) oil.
Teflon seals are dry, rubber seals are lubricated or they will burn
@@BritannicaRestorations Thanks!
Britpart usually i call s**tpart Mike I have had loads of crap parts from them
That's a bonnie looking engine.
Would be a shame to hide it under a bonnet.
Nobody make clear perspex bodywork for an old LandRover?.
Lol! Not that I know of!
