This is the absolute BEST coffee dye tutorial I've seen! Thank you so very much for sharing your technique. I'm new to creating journals and I did put my stencils in the oven with my papers. The stencils came out perfectly fine. I set my oven to 300F and check every 7 minutes.
I use dryer sheets everywhere. Old papers, storing off-season clothes, blankets, etc. to freshen the car, and anywhere else that might smell stale after awhile. I don’t even own a dryer!
lovely papers, I do mine pretty much the same way... I have a variety of stencils and plastic doilys and tablecloths. I love spraying mine with shimmer mist, alcohol inks, different colors of fabric dyes etc to get a tiny bit of color into some of them. I did a video a while back on how I do mine, I love doing them on huge cookie sheets as well, especially when I need to do them inside in winter.
You have some of the most beautiful coffee dyed papers I’ve ever seen! It must be the sealing it down to the paper, then the extra coffee & the drying it in the sun that makes them so gorgeous 🤔 or you just have magic for this 🤷♀️
hahaha, nicely put, Allison ... i'm voting for the magic hands theory as well; ) and hope that sprinkling that extra bit of coffee water on top will do the trick for me - as one of the less gifted coffee dyers; ) thanks so much for sharing!
This is the best teaching on coffee dying papers I’ve seen. You are very organized and thorough in your directions and precise. I want to learn how to do this not just right but creatively. Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to watching the next video on dying. So appreciate you, Teresa
I like coffee dyeing paper. I've done coffee, tea, a mixture of both, tempora paints watered down tempora and avacodo dyes. I've watched one artist making cesetnut stain and have heard of walnut stain. I've used lace and aplicays for patterns. I just laid them on flat surfaces around my house it was in the middel of December when I did mine Your papers are especially nice. I like the crisp, sharp edges of the patterns used.
I'm so glad I could help you out. I have recently found out that the slower they dry the better the impression of the stencil. Let me know how yours turn out. I appreciate your comment.
😊 i just tried the plastic stencil and it worked great. I did dry it mostly with a heat gun for art projects. Its midnight here, and i wanted results now.lol thank you so much for the video. Ill certainly be trying more. Take care, be safe.

Thank you so much Cheryl. Let me know how it works out using the hairdryer. I'm afraid it will blow the stencil away and you won't get as good of an impression. You might just leave the stencil on the paper even if it takes a couple of days to dry.
The one (maybe the only) plus side to the hot, hot summers in the desert southwest 😊 is that I can sun dry my papers in a matter of minutes. I bought a cheap banquet table to put out in my backyard and lay the papers directly in that, then cover with a plastic lace table cloth for bulk coffee dye batches. Love your stencils ❤
