I think you did awesome. It reminds me of the big Luxury cabins/barns they offer on airbnb here in the states. I love it! ❤ totally worth the time spent
I guess you have never seen or or paid close enough attention to house hunters or design makeover shows or anything because it's very popular here in America and you have two options in the fence category for when you want to switch tiles, just Google rooms with two different floorings and you will see that when the two floorings need to connect whether it's tile and wood or wood and carpet or anything else they use a really really thin sometimes it's made out of wood or metal and it just covers the seeming of the junction where the two different floor styles meet. Added in my house as a kid I had terracotta tiles in my four year and in the rest of my health I had wood so I had a piece of wood that was about 1 1/2 inches and it covered the seam from wood to the terracotta and then I had linoleum in my kitchen. In the fence category it looks like a really thin lines, there's one from get to work I believe and one from Strangerville. And when you place them on the ground you could barely see them they don't come up off the floor and they are basically dividers plumbella uses them all the time and I just assumed most people know about it because that's what everybody does in real life. Because it's a tripping hazard if you don't conceal the edges where two different floorings meet. It's not the one that you use to make those trellises that you crisscross and put binds on top of sometimes, it's even smaller than that like I said there's only two options in the catalog 1 from Strangerville and one from get to work and they look like little skinny lines a new put them at the edge of where two different floors meet and they come in many different colors and it looks fantastic. You can match it with the wood or you can make it a metal color or whatever you want just promise and trust me. Google it first because I don't know what it's called
Funfact: I bought Vintage Glamour after seeing you using the clock from the teen room combined with this round swish thingy wall deco from Spa Day and I loved it so much :D To this day I never used the butler once but I keep going back to the clock and wall deco combo :D I really like build buy in that pack, so it still was worth it. The build came out cool :)
When I saw the packs, I immediatelly thought about using Vintage Glamour for a hidden/basement private club, members only type of thing 😆 You know what for
I came up with a lore for this build, hear me out: Roberto Crinkletop, after faking his death, went to Apalloosa to start his dream nectar empire. After a while, he met this nice lady and had a little boy with her. The businness grown, but unfortunately his lovely partner passed away, which led him to drinking problems. The son, watching the misery of his father, took over the family business, which keeps florishing, and renovated the old family barn, making a beautiful memorial to his mom and maintaining the Crinkletop's legacy.
genuine question for anyone who would like to answer, when you start a james video does it automatically have closed captions on? it has for the past 2 weeks for me but on no one else expect for james videos, is this a thing he added or? im just very confused
all you have to do is Google the pioneer woman she is a chef on the Food Network and she's a millionaire and she has a huge house ranch in Kentucky or Oklahoma and it's made out of big stones and huge wooden pillars it's beautiful also the main house on Yellowstone the TV show is made up of wooden logs and lots and lots of rounded stones. It's very very very common to have expensive lodges made of wooden stones. Out here in the Midwest area people who own farms usually own their house for their family which is a beautiful big ranch house and then they usually have one or two beautiful modern ranch lodges they are called lodges and they have three to five guest rooms a big living area and kitchens because ranches have a lot of land typically and you have family that comes over or you have workers although usually ranch hands and horse trainers have a barn separately on their own by the horse stable usually but it's very easy to look this crap up james
I do really miss spiral staircases. Sims 2 I used them a lot because I thought they were the coolest thing since my grandparents' home used to have one (they later converted it into a regular staircase when it got too difficult for them to use the spiral in their old age which I always thought was sad but understandable.) It had added so much more character to their little country farmhouse. (the regular stairs were much more modern and bland looking and took away from that reclaimed barn wood look that used to be there) I'd love to try and build their house in the sims 4 but need that spiral staircase to do it the way i want to.
IIRC one of the voted on kits that won for a future kit is Medieval. While there are rarely big updates with kits, I'm desperately hoping they figure out at least a stone curved staircase for that as I have a castle build I've been working on that is in need of cured stone stairs for the turrets.
Not curved stairs but if you wanted something similar can make one using platforms, take a look at MrsSims4 on the gallery as she's uploaded one as a room and I've used it atleast a dozen times for different styled builds
This build looks straight out of an Architectural Digest celebrity house video, the nicely renovated barn with the painted white wood plus the obnoxious sculpture in the middle of the living room, I love it 😂
The build items from Jungle Adventure are actually some of my favorites in the game. I love the colorful swatches and use it all the time for my Oasis Springs builds
Love the way you've incorporated the warm wood tones and terracotta. Feels like you went out of your comfort zone a bit which is nice to see and it looks great!
When you added the terracotta tiles to the kitchen area, it began to sing! You're the reason I love to build barns... all the way back to the Cats & Dogs lets play
I love the way you keep in your struggles when building. Building for me is always a struggle but this gives me hope that one day something I make might look nice at the end if I don't just give up and download someone else's build in frustration.
I would hate to walk up all those stairs, but the bedroom up top is so lit. If this was real, I would claim it. It would be sweet if there was an attached bathroom if there was a bit more space.
I probably would have used the horse ranch upper cabinets in the kitchen - the uppers of the country kitchen kit are definitely the week point of that kit - they just don’t tile well. I think you definitely cursed yourself with the fully round rooms. It came out really cool though. If you ever really wanted to tear your hair out, try to recreate the round stone barn from the Hancock Shaker village in the Berkshires in the US. It’s a really interesting building.
Wish that top floor had been a Jungle Adventure collectible display room -- and I would have definitely used JA counters over country kitchen. Still, pretty awesome mix -- definitely repeat this challenge!
When it came to my survey submission, I considered what items I use the most when it comes to building. Along with the world's since some of them I love building in and other's not so much.
It appears that a couple, each with their own place and style, moved into this barn together. The space is a mash-up of each style into a cohesive home. It's very relatable to me as someone who is married to someone from another country.
This is such a lovely barn house, when can I move in? Hehe you've done an amazing design James it reminds me of the country estate homes we have in the UK countryside 🎉✨️
Ah, yes, cursed walls. (not a typo 😅) It's funny cause just yesterday I thought to myself how I haven't seen curved walls being used since they came out & we all realized they're bugged af. Nice build, as always!
should've made that curve on the bottom level the entry way. And HOW DARE YOU not use the jungle adventure mirror!? Sasha would be appalled lol cant wait to renovate this tonight! i don't have horse ranch though :(
27:48 I think you were thinking of Boggarts. Professor Lupin (bless him, by the way) found one in a cupboard for a practical class and it ended up turning into a Dementor for Harry.
Ok, but that top bedroom is STUNNING. Also, I really like the kitchen minus the blue uppers (just what you got stick with 🤷🏼♀️). The tile floor really set it off and the colors went together very nicely. Modern/Industrial Rustic currently my fav
Cute, but needs more color. 75% black and white and 20% brown really isn't that much (5%) "color". The blue in the kitchen and green in the kids room is really the only color there is. The kitchen is my favorite just because it is something not black and white.
From the inside the windows reminded me of Minecraft If you don't have any windows yet but want to have some light in the first "home" so you're punching 1x1 blocks out of the stone/dirt. 🤣 Great job pulling that off, i really like the the floorplan of this space! ✨
Dream home decorator is SO broken right now; the career doesn't work, the work day won't end, you don't get promoted, the ovens don't work and your food never finishes cooking... sucks because I love that pack gameplay
"A transition strip or threshold is a thin strip of wood or metal that covers the gap between two different types of flooring. They are used when joining two different sections of a building, like offices and a hallway. Transition strips are necessary for many reasons, including: There is a height difference between the flooring in two separate rooms. You are joining together two different sections of a building. Reducer moldings are used when two floors of slightly different thicknesses come together, such as a laminate floor and a wood, vinyl, ceramic or low-pile carpet floor. "
i feel like this house belongs to an old money family in chestnut ridge. maybe like an adult whose family essentially built the town (with or without the permission of the people who lived there first...hmm), their spouse who loves glitz and glamor, maybe a failed actor/actress? and maybe a child whose actually in tune with the nature and animals who doesn't want to see chestnut ridge industrialized, and a teen who desperately wants to move to the city like their other parent
Would the modular bookshelves work on the curved walls alright?? If they do then the silo could be a home library!! 😊🥰🩷 Edit: Oh I guess James had the same idea 😂😂😂
I was so iffy on that kitchen but then you added the tile and it all came together. It ended up being my favorite room in the house. You did great with such a weird layout, its always interesting to see you work through what'll work in a space.
James I would love you see you do a 4 pack of random pack challenge but with an extra catch… No Plants! As a fellow plant décor lover I feel like it would be fun to watch you decorate without the use of plants lol
James: I'm gonna make a small build since it's just for one sim
Also James: * builds a barn so huge it takes up the entire lot *
😂😂😂
I literally cheered when you changed the kitchen floor that tile is one of my favorites and looks so good with the blue of the counters
Lol same! When he first used the concrete I was like “but but… the jungle adventure tiles are right there!”
i would be so envious of that teens room as a teen! it’s gorgeous and so private
James is in his dream jungle ranch country glamour phase and I am here for it!
modern luxe kit wouldve been perfect for this! amazing build as always ❤
I think you did awesome. It reminds me of the big Luxury cabins/barns they offer on airbnb here in the states. I love it! ❤ totally worth the time spent
I wish I had your build skills, James. Another fantastic build!!
Someone needs to stop James from using this many windows.
A James build with only auto windows?

I can see this barn in grand designs for sure
this turned out amazing!!! i love it
Good to see im not only one who has issues with those ovens 🙈
Try to do a random pack + the challenges from the tiny home randomized home challenge
Hats off to you sir this looks absolutely stunning very well done
I thought it was gonna be for the series. I love the way it looks!
I love this build. ❤
Love seeing these!
In the US we call these barndiminiums 😅
James will this be on the gallery?
genuine question for anyone who would like to answer, when you start a james video does it automatically have closed captions on? it has for the past 2 weeks for me but on no one else expect for james videos, is this a thing he added or? im just very confused
Me too!
biblically accurate barn

This feels like some Airbnb that a millennial couple owns
So pretty
use the very top level as a loft
With all the packs they've put out you'd think they would have given us at least ONE spiral staircase by now.
I do really miss spiral staircases. Sims 2 I used them a lot because I thought they were the coolest thing since my grandparents' home used to have one (they later converted it into a regular staircase when it got too difficult for them to use the spiral in their old age which I always thought was sad but understandable.) Yeah like Vintage Glamour or Get Famous would have been a perfect opportunity to give us some spiral staircases tbh 😑💔

@@Terahnee ARE YOU BUILDING HOGWARTS?!

“… but is the Sims and it’s supposed to just *look cool*” are the vibes I needed this morning
I feel like half the time James goes for 100% realism and the other half is just vibes
This build looks straight out of an Architectural Digest celebrity house video, the nicely renovated barn with the painted white wood plus the obnoxious sculpture in the middle of the living room, I love it 😂
Leave it to James to build a completely wacky lot that turns out to be cool and somehow just works? 😄
It’s his super power lol
CLASSIC James Turner 😂😊🩷
"I don't wanna make it TOO big"
makes a building that occupies the whole lot asdnfsdls never change, James, never change
Hi James! I think it’d be cool to see a generator for community lots next! Thank you for all the amazing content you always put out!
+
yes i always struggle to get inspired for community lot builds
The build items from Jungle Adventure are actually some of my favorites in the game. I love the colorful swatches and use it all the time for my Oasis Springs builds
Love the way you've incorporated the warm wood tones and terracotta. Feels like you went out of your comfort zone a bit which is nice to see and it looks great!
First floor silo room could’ve been like a wine cellar! I feel like that’s a good use of space
When you added the terracotta tiles to the kitchen area, it began to sing! You're the reason I love to build barns... all the way back to the Cats & Dogs lets play
This house looks like what a van family would buy when they are forced to move in an actual house by their kids/the social services
I love the way you keep in your struggles when building. Building for me is always a struggle but this gives me hope that one day something I make might look nice at the end if I don't just give up and download someone else's build in frustration.

I feel like this is one of those bizarrely decorated homes you find on Zillow 😂
I would hate to walk up all those stairs, but the bedroom up top is so lit. If this was real, I would claim it. It would be sweet if there was an attached bathroom if there was a bit more space.

This build looks like it would be the set of some autumny Hallmark romcom in Vermont 😂
So true, and the person who owned it would have a job that would not explain the level of luxury, like "owner of a homemade jam business" or something
2 minutes ago? I was literally saying I feel like watching a James build video and here you show up as soon as I refresh youtube :)
Wish that top floor had been a Jungle Adventure collectible display room -- and I would have definitely used JA counters over country kitchen. Still, pretty awesome mix -- definitely repeat this challenge!
I find this style of build video very engaging compared to a speed build with voiceover. Thanks, James!
When it came to my survey submission, I considered what items I use the most when it comes to building.
Along with the world's since some of them I love building in and other's not so much.
I love that tile in the kitchen! I was so worried you were going to remove it.
Matching this challenge with the random build challenge would be insane! OH OH AND ADD THE CAN'T MOVE AFTER PLACEMENT RULE TOO!
this is such a good idea!!
Omg yes!
You have my like, because I REALLY want to see that happening.
He may or may not lose his mind
Some people just want to watch the world burn…😂😂😂
I’m not a fan of the blue and black kitchen, but the rest of the barn looks really swanky like a $1,500/night Air BnB 🤠🥂✨
It appears that a couple, each with their own place and style, moved into this barn together. The space is a mash-up of each style into a cohesive home. It's very relatable to me as someone who is married to someone from another country.

This house looks like it belongs to a retired archaeologist who likes the farm vibes, but also has money.
Not putting the piano in the middle part of the big open room is criminal, it would sound amazing in the living area
The kitchen and bathroom are giving me Firewatch vibes…James you should DEFINITELY do a fire watch tower build! Maybe even in Granite Falls?
should've made that curve on the bottom level the entry way. And HOW DARE YOU not use the jungle adventure mirror!? Sasha would be appalled lol
cant wait to renovate this tonight! i don't have horse ranch though :(
You should make a barn venue for whenever Lady gets married!

15:48 oh my god I’ve had the same glitch. Sorta comforting that it’s not just my game being broken… oh wait it’s the sims. That tracks.
put this build into your bigwallet save, never know, you may need to use it
I think the last update broke the dream home decorator oven, at least mine hasn’t worked since…
The different cabinets are bothering me a little bit, but the build looks so cool and different from everything I’ve seen so far!!
Its a boujee barn!
Me, a recovering HP nerd: “James, I think you meant a boggart, not a dementor.” 😂😂😂
I thought the same thing. 😅 But the one he's thinking of did turn into a Dementor, so we'll give it to him. Lol
@@limedovahkiin2806 Oh yes, totally acceptable hahahaha!

/sarcasm 🤣
James i love you but i hate those windows 😂😂😢
What if you did do a create sim build and it was just based off of vibes? Like a grunge room for the grunge kit etc
This is hands down one of the best houses James has ever built. Its absolutely gorgeous. 😍😍 He did such a good job!
Is it me or this build could fit perfectly somewhere in the Sims 3?
always love james' builds but the window placements in this one just isn't giving lol
i hate the black cabinets they should burn
Anyone else screaming at James about the bathroom door? 😅 he moved on to the living room and I’m still thinking about the door.
I had the same problem with that oven. The other one worked fine.

Hi James. Hoping you will upload this one to the gallery asap and I’m totally raring to get my hands on it and renovate! Thanks!
It's linked in the description :)
Would the modular bookshelves work on the curved walls alright?? If they do then the silo could be a home library!! 😊🥰🩷 Edit: Oh I guess James had the same idea 😂😂😂
James, you built what us southerners call a Barndominium
Loool this build and its zillion tiny windows are stressing me out 😂
James, ily but it was hard to trust you through this build 😂
It's almost 2024 and the Sims still does not have curved walls and spiral stairs. The Building tools need a major update.
I used curved walls in this build, we definitely have those haha
The top level could have been a buttler's room! But very nice build for the limited packs!
