Can I add about the being positive while in the clinical setting. I am a 30+ year RN and I see nursing students on a daily basis. We ( RN employees) are watching you students and when it comes hiring time our input is taken by the nurse managers in which of you to hire. We remember the positive ( great outlook) students and we also remember the complainers...which ones do you think we recommend to be hired?
+BlessedbyGod! That's such a great point. Definitely need to maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm about learning and gaining new experiences. You never know who's watching!
I really like the last one. School gets so freak'n tough and sometimes it's hard to stay optimistic, but you're right, we worked hard to get in and it is a blessing. One day these struggles will pay off!
Some good pointers Nurse Bass. I would like to add that while this wouldn't make the top 5, but it is definitely worth mentioning....STAY AWAY FROM THE BUTT-KISSERS AND OUT OF THE GOSSIP GROUPS! Everywhere there are workers who love nothing else than to suck-up to the boss and snitch on their peers over the most petty things imaginable. Well, the same applies in nursing school. In fact, it's quite a pandemic. Now, I certainly do not advocate that information be withheld if someone is doing something that is unsafe or illegal; I'm talking about people in your very own classroom/clinical setting who think they can get an edge over others by tattling to the instructors over trivial things. In reality, these people are mistaken! Instructors often find these students contemptible and untrustworthy. Why? Because what makes them think that the snitch isn't going to say something about them? It's certainly no joke. No one likes a person like that. They create chaos, misstrust and it demoralizes the cohort. The same goes for when some students start to form snotty little cliques, and you can't help but overhear them trash talking other students, or even their instructors! Seriously, people behaving childish like this will bring you down if you get caught up in it. Know who they are and avoid them. Because; frankly, you don't have the time for it, especially in nursing school!
Well stated! Some people never grow up! So right about carefully choosing who you associate with in nursing school. The main focus is to learn, give it your all, & move forward. No time for drama, petty gossip, & back stabbing.
@marteemar7 You definitely just hit the nail on the head. It's all about the patient. "Respect the profession." That's very true. It's a shame that there are some people who truly do take this entire experience for granted. I just pray for the patients they may one day be caring for.
all of your tips are so on point. nursing school is a blessing and a wonderful opprtunity. I loved that you indicated never thinking a skill is below you. absolute truth and I've seen classmates who've portrayed such ugly unprofessionalisn when asked to do something. we don't pick and choose what we feel like doing. it's all about patient centeredness. take every opportunity offered to enhance your sill, that only makes you a better nurse. respect your profession. you've done everything you could to get in the program why would you jack that up over silliness? it's all about humbleness...thanks Nurse Bass for you wisdom.
Also, I hate it when students argue with professors. We are in our 3rd week of nursing school and I see students doing that already. But from what I've noticed in my program, it's usually that older students (like 45 and up) that argue with professors the most.
Thank you so much, I needed this today! I graduated from my LVN program in January, passed my NCLEX in July and earlier today I was upset for having to wait so long for my license. You reminded me to be grateful that it was on it's way! Keep up the great vids!
Yessss my dude!! I just found your channel and I'm already loving it, subscribed immediately. You hit it right with everything. I'm a student now, I finish my first semester in two weeks and start working as a student nurse tech shortly after. Your videos are super motivating. And you ain't lying either, we are GUESTS in those hospitals/care centers/etc and we have to take it as a privilege to do those "small" tasks. I learned right off the bat that the techs and everything they do are godsent.
Watched "5 things" just now and I totally agree. I have been an acute care RN for 40++ years and have felt like it was an honor and blessing. I'm so happy to see new professionals that really understand. So, carry on and do great things to change lives. 🙏
well, I did argue with my lab instructor for failing me for not providing privacy but heard her telling the next student she should have provided privacy but passed her... I was mad and told her she has treated me unfairly.
So true! Blessed to be there; be respectful and be there to serve! I’ve been taking it too seriously; overstudied, and blew my last test. I’m taking an accelerated program, done in 16 months, and it’s brutal! We take NCLEX style questions and they are killing me. Sooo I love clinicals and talking to people, any way I can make their day better, I will do. It just helps keep the edge off because I seem to have developed test anxiety and I know I’m meant for this, just gonna cry and push on through. It’s all gonna be worth it and book knowledge and floor knowledge are two different worlds. No one coding is gonna give a shit I didn’t get an A, they just want me to save their life, and that is the goal. Good day future nurses! Let’s rock this out with a grateful heart. 😁
dude, I'm a nursing student as a sophomore doing med surg right now and you are so right on! I have SO many immature students who literally ask a professor why can't you make this test easy or something, or exactly what you said, the know it all cocky pretentious student who is intellectually smart but when it comes to clinical they have no clue what to do. I mean in my class they think nursing school is just another step to a job but it's a career and a field that actually makes you a better person. Yeah you'll have assholes CNAs, maybe nurses but they are a part of a team too and we as nurses can't look down on anyone or anything. clinicals is an experience that nursing students do take for granted but guess what you'll never have the opportunity like this again. Long story short, I am proud to be a nursing student and everything you said is spot on
Thank you for these tips. Especially tip #5. You are absolutely right. It is a blessing to be in nursing school. Im in the middle of my first semester and it is tough and I will admit, the thought of quitting did cross my mind but I cant quit and I wont. August 2016 is just around the corner :)
+Maria Villanueva You're very welcome! And that's the mindset you have to have. Just have to keep grinding it out. It all gets easier and everything begins to roll a bit smoother, so don't give up! :D
I am in my first semester of nursing school. I have been feeling overwhelmed and slightly discouraged. I felt like I found this video today for a reason. It was just the pick me up that I needed. Thank you!
#5 hit my soul!❤ thank you for an awesome video! I start nursing school next month and I truly feel blessed because it was a tough road just to get accepted! 20 yrs and it's finally here! God bless you!
Omy Clinicals is tomorrow and thanks to this video I am stressed free. even though I am not ready it's because my school for CNA is 1 a week Saturday. and I see 21 skills on youtube but people don't have the equipment to see and try it. just making the bed the first yime was extremely challenging. I think if people are going to take CNA classes or school make sure its at least 3 or more times a week.
I was checking out for one of my skills in my Foundation Lab class, and my instructor tried to tell me that I didn't check for 2 sets of initials on the MAR for the medication was going to give. That was the first thing I did, but she didn't see me do that! I was really annoyed, but I was sitting there thinking to myself, is this half of a point really going to make or break my grade... no lol. That was the first thing I thought of when you said don't argue with my instructor! You give some real good advice, and I just subscribed to your channel! I'll definitely come here for advice in the future! :)
+Anna Pelton Well I am sorry that your instructor seemed to treat that situation pretty unfairly. But you probably made the wise choice of letting it go if it really was that minuscule of a point difference. And thank you for joining me on this channel for the ride! I hope you find help here! :D
I hear you man. Especially when someone argues with an instructor. It's awkward and uncomfortable for everyone witnessing it. Yes being in school is something you can't take for granted. I feel lucky that I'm in and one step closer.
If a student feels there is a problem with a test or a question, be professional about it. Request to speak to the nursing professor in their office one on one. Be respectful. Address the issue. Research & present the situation with all of the details. Discuss the solution. Whether the nursing professor accepts your insight or not, at least you made an attempt to set things right. And, you conducted yourself appropriately....as a professional!
Really appreciate you saying No. 5 as many of us do take that for granted and since you brought it up, i will definitely look at this differently. Thank you.
it feels so good to have a male and his perspective on this career! thank you man, I want to be a nurse, and these videos seriously help me. Thank you!!
Nurse Bass I hear you struggling just to past Teas test was major accomplishment. Then got accepted into practical nurse program; wow hard work pays off.
Yessss to number 2! My first clinical I shadowed some nurses and I picked up anything and everything I could do. Within that 12 hours, I learned more than I could imagine. I'll never pass up an opportunity to learn 😊👍🏼
Your videos are definitely boosting my confidence. Starting OHSU next month and I am freaking out that I will fail. Your videos are a great source! Thanks!
I'm a pre-nursing student and I've been watching your videos at work (boring desk job) and you've made me feel so much more motivated and hopeful for the future. Now I feel a little more motivated to study when I get home. Please never stop making videos!! 😊
Thanks for all your tips Nurse Bass! I'm 2 days into my first year :D Videos like yours help me feel more aware of the challenges to come, as well as the rewarding moments!
+Joanne Harker That's awesome! You're definitely welcome and I'm glad that these videos are helpful to you in some way. Good luck this semester! It's going to be a wild ride but definitely worth it! :D
I wish I watched this before I started nursing school. I graduated back in 2014 but sometimes I look back on when I went to clinicals and I cringe thinking about how sometimes I would lose focus an joke around with my classmates. Sometimes you know I would take going to school for granted by slacking off sometimes when I knew I needed to study. Part of that was being young and maybe a little immature but if I could do it all over again I would soak up every bit of information I could. But I worked hard in nursing school, and it does not come easy. All of those all nighters pay off in the end.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm just about to start my final semester and am trying to breathe away burnout by flipping my attitude. You've given some good tips. Kia Ora.
SHOUTOUT! Woo hoo! #FamousBecauseNurseBassMentionedMeInHisKillerVid! I agree with these all 100%...although I do have to confess that I have been that person to object to test questions. I think it can be done in a respectful manner, but unfortunately it oftentimes turns into "students vs. teacher" and everyone goes into attack mode, which just creates an--as you said--awkward situation for everyone. My strategy is typically to ask for the professor to point out the content area in our notes or textbook so that I am able to review that area since I wasn't "satisfied with my test results on the topic". Sometimes the professor is unable to locate the material or finds that the notes/textbook was vaguely worded, which is why some questions end up being thrown out in the end. But it's a delicate situation and, as you said, needs to be handled professionally and with the utmost RESPECT! I like that you threw #5 in here because it's my go-to motivator! Sure, I can look at what just me, myself, and I have done to "earn my spot" in nursing school, but stepping back and becoming aware of all of the tiny little elements of this nursing school journey that had to be orchestrated perfectly for this opportunity to knock on my door in the first place? It's all way too awesome to be my work alone! I was GIVEN and am given this opportunity every day to pursue my dreams and become the best nurse I can and I refuse to give anything but my best because of it! Being in nursing school is, despite those times when you just want to do NOTHING because your brain and heart are fried, most definitely a privilege and we should never forget it! Great video!
+Rachel P Haha, girl you're already famous and you know it! I've also did the same thing you've described. But I also did it in a respectful manner as well. I just want to know why I got it wrong so I don't make that same mistake on a future exam lol. And I think your second paragraph is beautiful. That's exactly how I feel and how I approach school. "All of the tiny little elements of this Nursing School journey that had to be orchestrated perfectly for this opportunity to knock on my door in the first place." I know that to be 100% true Miss P! You hit the nail on the head. Especially in my case, there was seriously an extremely slim chance of me even getting my paperwork together to get it turned in on time much less getting accepted into the program. And I could literally see everything unfolding perfectly before my eyes (all of it out of my hands by the way). God most definitely orchestrated it all. And all I had to do was just show up.
You are important for nursing! I appreciate your inspiring words and advice. Thank you for your support of nursing! TX, BB (instruction of nursing in Alabama)
+Becky Bertalan Wow. Well thank you very much, I really do appreciate that. You're welcome and thank you so much for even taking the time to give my videos a watch. Feel free to share! :D
hey there nurse bass! I just joined a Bsn program at UTPB of TEXAS. I start on the 19th I'm a little worried about the future but watching your video put me at ease, I hope I do well I just subscribed to your channel! keep me posted homie! thanks- Tony
+sippinlean85 Well congratulations on getting accepted into the BSN program and good luck to you! Thanks for subscribing and joining me on this journey! Just know that EVERYBODY feels that initial nervousness because everything about the future and what to expect is unknown. But it's going to be a very fun, albeit difficult, ride! Have fun!
Nurse Bass!! Your motivation is immense!! I am staring Nursing school in a week! I was blessed to have been choosen among 400 applicants. Your videos inspire and motivate me every time!! God Bless!! & Thank you!
+Dan Rodriguez Congratulations on getting into Nursing School! I'm happy that the videos have been helping you out to give you motivation! I hope to continue to do this!
Thank you for the video it is very useful, but I have a concern about the first advice, it is not always a high school stuff, sometimes when I argue with my lecturers about question on the exam and so, they think about my point view and they make changes and I got a couple marks for that . of course with all the respect and low voice.
Hey Nurse Bass, I am a beginner for Nursing 102. I have so much anxiety right now as I speak. I ready do need your help with some Nursing 102 problem. I love to way you made everything easy n smooth. Thanks
Thank you for being so real and down to earth. I truly have been humbled by your words, a lot of my classmates have a super cocky vibe about being in our lvn program, and there is this intensely competitive vibe. I go to class now and can ignore that because you voiced how blessed we are to be there, honestly it has changed everything for me. Nursing school is tough, but nurses that take it for what it truly is (not the money, not the self glorification) define what the field is all about. Thank you! Keep being awesome! :)
This is great! I absolutely love your videos!! I just started nursing school a few weeks ago and I love it. I won't be starting clinicals until October. Your advice is great! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much Nurse Bass on your piece of advice, I will keep it in my heart. Nursing course is costly and many cannot afford, I feel so blessed my sister supported me in my nursing school.
Thanks for that! You made great points specially number 5. I will be starting my accelerated BSN this fall. Im exited about it but also scared. Will check more videos.
It is such a blessing to get into nursing school. We had 450 applicants. 40 people were chosen for the 2 year RN Program. And, 16 were chosen for the 1 year, LVN to ADN Program (this is the program I belong to). When I received my RN school acceptance letter, I cried out of pure gratitude and joy....😌🌸🌹 P.S. I start RN school in spring 2020. Amen! 🙏💐
When I chose to do nursing I kept the less desirable things in mind. Nursing has GREAT things, but nothing is perfect. The job has to be done, so do it with a smile and keep those patients well and happy. Don’t make it harder or awkward. I’m very very excited to work towards being an RN.
Brad, great set of videos. I am a nurse with 14 years experience. You hit on some topics that I needed to hear (again). I am working on my MSN for nurse educator. I think I may use your videos with our new grads. Keep up the work. Thank you.
+Kevin O I really appreciate that and that really does mean a lot to me to hear you say that. Especially coming from such a veteran nurse. I would appreciate it if you did use the videos and I hope they are of help! I appreciate it!
how do u get over the nervousness of things like cleaning patients especially opposite sex. I know it sounds stupid but although I took care of my mom for about 7 years it's so much different. also my mom passed about 5 months ago and although I want to be in nursing it's so emotional to me. If u see someone doing cpr even on tv I can't help but think about my mom and wonder about her final moments. I don't want to be that student that can't get through a lesson and burst in tears.
+googooberries The nervousness goes away with repetition. The more you do it, the less you think about it and the more second nature it becomes. As far as the emotional side, I wish I could help you with some advice.
+Savannah Capener I actually have a video in the works that I am going to do on this very topic! I don't mind them of course, because I have them. But I can understand the need for covering them up in a professional environment, especially while we're still students and are a reflection of the School in which we attend. :)
Great tip, thanks for your advice. You need to be curious in this profession so that you can really understand and learn how it works, is the only way to learn it. You need to be all up in there, thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
OMG! So happy I found you on RUclips! I love your videos! I'm going to tell all my classmates about how awesome you are! thanks for all the time you put into your videos... Your passion for nursing and learning just leaps off the screen haha (:
I am in nursing school, and I will have to stop it, bc I have to work and I won’t be able to do clinical. I am devastated. I wish there was a way to go to nursing school and be able to work at the same time. Idk how people do it. If you guys have any advice I would like to know. Thank you.
Hey! Great video! I just had a quick question. When it comes to starting nursing school, do you have any websites you would recommend for supplies? I should be starting in January and want to get the most for my money! Love your videos!
+Kaycie Chapman Well thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the video! The main place that I go to when I shop online is Amazon. That's where I get the most for my money. Another place you can look is allheart .com They tend to have good deals as well! Good luck to you in the Spring! Hope all goes well! :D
Thanks so much!! I'll definitely look into those 2! I actually applied on September 1st so now I'm twiddling my thumbs until they email us for drug testing, finger printing, etc. Then I'll know if I got accepted in November.
Terrific advice! I wish I would have seen this when I was in first semester, LOL, but I agree %110 with EVERYTHING you said! Thank you!!! Class of 12/12/15!!!!
look normally i agree that we should be professional and not argue with the professors about test questions or material but when it's consistently happening and the whole class is failing then i think it's an issue.
New to you're channel enjoying the content. Definitely refreshing and humbling advice. Being a nursing student you definitely have your up and down that come with. Overall your right be thankful for the moment and experience! :)
☺️ very true, thanks for the reply. I love your videos, I just came across you today and subscribed. I'm a first semester nursing student; my program is an 18 month program for Associate degree RN. It's a huge adjustment. We need to maintain a 75% test average- I got a 74 on test 1 and an 80 on test 2. So my average is a 77- it's nerve racking not to be in a safe zone....but I'm just going to keep studying my ass off, stay positive and try not to stress out. Thanks for your messages, information and positivity.
+RoseAnn Foster YOU. GOT. THIS!! :D Thanks for subscribing and joining me in this journey! But like you said, just keep studying and staying positive. All the rest will be as it should.
Great video, now what if you feel very uncomfortable with a certain skill and performing it in a safe manner and a nurse asks if you'd like to perform it? Do you take that risk?
Yea that's actually a really great point that I probably should have mentioned. No, you definitely don't do it if you don't feel comfortable with the skill. Patient safety is priority. Thanks for bringing this up. :-)
+Matt learn one, do one, teach one . . . this is the best method for learning. Like Nursebass says jump on every opportunity to learn especially in nursing school. If you don't feel comfortable ask the nurse if you can walk through it and have them do this one . . . then the next time jump on it!
Your amazing. So much truth (knowledge) & Compassion. You make me wanna do better as a nursing student. I'm so ready, eager and bless to be able to pursue nursing. It's my calling
Hi! I know I'm several months late on this video...My bad. Could you give me some advice? I'm a senior in high school, and I'm gonna hopefully be going to nursing school after I graduate. The problem is I'm trying to decide whether to take medical assistant classes, go get some experience, and then go for my bsn-rn, or go for LPN, go get some experience and then go for bsn-rn. Whhich pathway do you think is better for someone that's trying to get their feet wet? Are Lpn's being phased out? That's what I heard is happening here in West Virginia. I'm really trying to figure this all out and it's pretty scary for someone like me. I feel like this is my calling and this is where I was meant to be, but I feel as if I'm insignificant. I'm not good at chemistry or math and I could be better at physiology. But I absolutely love anatomy and anything related to the body. I would love if you could please give me some direction on how to manage all of these decisions. It's getting me stressed out.
+Levi Collins Sure, I'll give you my advice. My advice would be to do neither of those things to be honest (I've also heard that LPNs are being phased out, and Medical Assistant will take too long in my opinion). What I would do if I were you, is take a class to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (classes can range from 2 weeks to a few months, then you can take the State Test and get hired as a CNA). That is going to take the shortest amount of time to become certified and start work, and going to give you the best kind of experience you could possibly get to begin becoming prepared to be a Nurse. That's my two cents, but I really stand by that opinion. :)
Nurse Bass Thank you so much for the advice! I'm gonna seriously look into this new information you've given me. And forgive my latereply, but I've been quite ill for the past week, so you'll have to forgive me. How would you say that working as a CNA would give me better experience? Would you be changing FC's, doing vital signs? Things of that nature? I've actually had some nursing training already at a high school vocational center, so I already know how to do vital signs so that should be a plus for me.
I literally just watched this video! Lol. I have another question. What do you think would be my next best step after becoming a CNA and getting a job? Where do I go and what do I become after that? Sorry for all the questions ._.
+Levi Collins After you get a job as a CNA? I guess whatever you want to do lol. If you're happy as a CNA, then stay there. If you want to be a Nurse, then go to Nursing School. There really is no additional step necessary between CNA and RN :)
+Mighty Nurse A lot of it is time management in regards to Nursing School along with making these videos. But it also helps that I don't have much of a social life haha. As well as not having to work while I'm in Nursing School. Both of those things really provide me with a lot of free time necessary to be able to study and stay busy. :D By the way, thank you guys for all that you have been doing lately by sharing my videos. I appreciate the support big time!
1st semester over here !!!! Def appreciate your words of encouragement ... I just keep telling myself "I'm the egg" after watching your last video 🤓 keep the videos coming please !
Depends I suppose. I can't really speak for you, but if it's just a 1 day kind of thing, and it doesn't interfere with any exams or clinicals or anything like that, then I would probably do it.
Great tips, especially tip number 4 ~ never think that you are above doing any aspect of care for your patients ~ Nurses are as much responsible for bedpans as their assistants are.
Hey there Nurse Bass!!!! I absolutely LOVE your videos and this 1 is especially on point. I am an older nursing student; as a matter of fact, I am the oldest in my BSN program. I WISH that the millennials in my class would grasp these 5 points/tips! They absolutely argue with "certain" professors, which I find very disrespectful. They know who to harass and who not to and it's so obvious. We are all seniors now, graduating in May, and it has gotten better toward our professors but now it just seems as if it's a dog eat dog world and that you really can't trust anyone in your class (at least the youngest ones). It's sad and I foresee these ladies (no guys in my class) will learn a significant lesson or lessons when they get out there in the real world. Thank you for your videos; you and Ashley are awesome. Now I must work on some care plans!!! HA!
+Anita Glass You're very welcome for the videos. I'm happy to hear that you enjoy them. I have several older students in my class (I actually did a video titled "Am I Too Old to Start Nursing") or something like that lol. They all are some of the most determined and focused in our entire group. Keep your head on straight and keep chugging along.
Tomorrow, I am going to see if i got accepted in to my High School's (CNA) program. 40 applied only 26 can get in. If i do get in it will be the first step for me becoming a RN. #malenurse
I have a couple of people in my class who have been working full time the entire time they've been in Nursing School. It's doable, but certainly not easy AT ALL
@Nurse Bass...this is one of your best videos epecially #4. I just had this discussion with a friend the other day about the people who know it all and are in class. My friend was like it is their personality trait and he figured out that the people who act like they know it all in nursing or medical school end up making the most mistakes because they never took the time to let someone explain to them and just learn.lol For real!
+disneychick8891 First of all, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! :)) Second of all, I agree with you. 9 times out of 10 the person slips up because they weren't concerned about learning as much as they were about flaunting their knowledge. I've seen it before. I honestly haven't seen it too much in Nursing School, but definitely in my pre-requisite courses. Especially in the Anatomy and Physiologies. It's always great whenever you know MORE than the Know-It-All does and you can just sit there silently and laugh to yourself as they sound ridiculous lol. I'm terrible, I know. :p
+Filipinogenetics Just really tried to get acquainted with the medication classes. What the meds in that particular class end with. If you know what the drugs in the med class do, and you can identify which med class a particular med is in, then you know a whole lot about that med (hope that sentence wasn't confusing lol). But yea, and then from there basically you just pick out the things that might be specific to each medication individually like Digoxin toxicity produces green halos in the field of vision, or Tetracyclines can cause tooth discoloration in children and bone density loss (if I remember correctly). That's basically how I approached it. If you check out my buddy Jon Hawes website: www.nrsng.com/nrsngpodcast/ He has tons of podcasts where he just talks about MEDS. It seems to be a pretty helpful resource, and it's free if I'm not mistaken. But yea, good luck with that bro. It just takes time and repetition to get those meds embedded in the memory!
Nurse Bass Lol that sentence wasn't too confusing hah. Okay I'll try out his website! Our test had questions about garlic, ginger, St. John's wort, etc and I just got mad because she didn't tell us to know that..but like you said in one video, I'm being a highschooler complaining lol
+Filipinogenetics Haha nah, I hear you there man. Yea, those are some of those little contraindicated herbs and whatnot to keep an eye on. Pharm is so tough because there is just so freaking much information it's ridiculous. But I definitely think I'm going to make a video on it for sure.
Nurse Bass yeah I found out I can't use Nurse Nacole'e textbook reading tips in pharmacology lolz. Is the information in nursing school as much or more than pharm? And that video would be awesome and much appreciated my dude!
+Filipinogenetics You mean the information in Nursing School in general? Def much more than Pharm lol. My program actually includes Pharm in the curriculum.
As a RN of 25+ years, you give some spot on advice. I hope current or future nursing students are listening!
Amen! being in nursing school is such a blessing.
#7 avoid drama at all costs
“ we are guests in their house” love this quote you said!! Starting nursing school next month 🙈 binge watching all your videos for advice!
I really like the last one. School gets so freak'n tough and sometimes it's hard to stay optimistic, but you're right, we worked hard to get in and it is a blessing. One day these struggles will pay off!

Gen X Murse because girl that's so true
Gen X Murse Absolutely true!!
I agree completely with your thinking!!!
Thank you for always reminding us of how lucky we are to be studying and working in this profession 💜
all of your tips are so on point. nursing school is a blessing and a wonderful opprtunity.
I needed to hear this. Had the worst day at clinicals! You are so right, I am blessed to have been given this opportunity
Thank you so much, I needed this today! I graduated from my LVN program in January, passed my NCLEX in July and earlier today I was upset for having to wait so long for my license. You reminded me to be grateful that it was on it's way! Keep up the great vids!
That's awesome though, congratulations! I'll definitely keep the content coming for you guys! :)
+Carol Lovell Thank you very much. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video and my hopes are to do wonderful things in the world of Nursing.
well, I did argue with my lab instructor for failing me for not providing privacy but heard her telling the next student she should have provided privacy but passed her...
Long story short, I am proud to be a nursing student and everything you said is spot on
He has the best attitude! I love it. I wish everyone could be this positive.
only two years in US? three years in UK and sweden
TheBathroomGirl with prerequisites it sums up to 4 years. At least for my BSN program.
Thank you!
How’s it going so far? Are you discouraged because it’s hard, or you believe you can’t do it because it’s too much?
+Badfish89 Haha yea, it can be awkward. But YESS, you can never take it for granted and always remember how many people are dying to wear our shoes.
Badfish89 Nice profile picture.
Thank you for reminding me how lucky I am to be in this program, I needed this motivation boost with finals just around the corner!
every one of my classmates needs to see this! everything you said is on point, well put my friend!
Really appreciate you saying No. 5 as many of us do take that for granted and since you brought it up, i will definitely look at this differently. Thank you.
it feels so good to have a male and his perspective on this career! thank you man, I want to be a nurse, and these videos seriously help me. Thank you!!
+Mark Beer No problem at all brother! Glad to hear we have another man wanting to pursue the profession! Good luck to you!
Me three. Can't wait to start nursing school
Nurse Bass I hear you struggling just to past Teas test was major accomplishment. Then got accepted into practical nurse program; wow hard work pays off.
Good for you! Hope you do well!
Yessss to number 2! My first clinical I shadowed some nurses and I picked up anything and everything I could do. Within that 12 hours, I learned more than I could imagine. I'll never pass up an opportunity to learn 😊👍🏼
+MissMegB Yes ma'am, most definitely! Every chance you get you gotta take it. These are the moments that make Nurses! :D
Your videos are definitely boosting my confidence. Starting OHSU next month and I am freaking out that I will fail. Your videos are a great source! Thanks!
Well that really means a lot and I appreciate you for taking the time to watch them and for dropping a comment :DDD
That was me! Scratching and crawling, but I finally made it in! Thank you so much for the tips!
Great video and great reminded. We are blessed to be in nursing school!
Thank you Amy! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
AMEN! I am loving nursing school.
It's a wonderful thing!
Kia Ora.
You're very welcome. I'm happy you liked the video and wish you the best in your final semester. You and I both!
SHOUTOUT!
I've been bingeing on your videos throughout this year. Now my school starts in Jan 2020.
hey there nurse bass!
Great advise! Love your practicality and appreciation. I am fighting my way through Patho, you just gave me some encouragement.
Your videos are wonderful, I am GRATEFUL you made these! Thanks
Exactly what I needed to hear today, feeling beyond burntout. Thanks
You're very welcome Veronica. I appreciate you taking the time to tune in. We're all in this together
I really appreciate your Humble and Encouraging Words. Thank You 😊
& I appreciate you for watching and popping in. Grind on my friend!
I loved your video, and these tips are KEY! Attitude, gratitude is important!
Preach it! Yes, we do all have the "know-it-all"!
Thank you for sharing! I appreciate your insight and real information 😀
+Alexis Heisler Wow, thank you so much! I'm definitely going to keep trying to put out quality content to help you guys out! Good luck this semester!
Thoughtful, informative, humbling, and inspiring... Thanks!
It is such a blessing to get into nursing school. We had 450 applicants. 40 people were chosen for the 2 year RN Program. And, 16 were chosen for the 1 year, LVN to ADN Program (this is the program I belong to). When I received my RN school acceptance letter, I cried out of pure gratitude and joy....😌🌸🌹
+Katie Russell Haha, well thank you very much ma'am! I'm glad that you enjoy my rambling recordings haha. :D
Love the channel brother. Just started the BSN program and really enjoy your energy and inspiration. Any other channels you recommend watching?
Couldn't have said it better...... We are blessed!
+Tiffanie A :D Indeed Miss Alf.!
How do you feel about tattoos and piercing on nurses? I have tattoos in my inner wrist that I have to cover up for clinicals.
+Tina Ortiz "All up in there" haha. I agree with you. Thank you for this great comment. Curiosity kills the cat...except in healthcare haha.
I’ve see the arguing in the Pre requisites like Biology.
OMG! So happy I found you on RUclips! I love your videos! I'm going to tell all my classmates about how awesome you are! thanks for all the time you put into your videos... Your passion for nursing and learning just leaps off the screen haha (:
Haha well I'm happy you found me on RUclips as well! :D Thank you so much for the kind words and for the love. I'm here to help!
Another place you can look is allheart .com
They tend to have good deals as well!
Thank you! needed this pep talk!
You're very welcome my friend!
Terrific advice! I wish I would have seen this when I was in first semester, LOL, but I agree %110 with EVERYTHING you said! Thank you!!! Class of 12/12/15!!!!
+urazo Haha well thank you very much! And CONGRATS! I'm sure you're job hunting and everything! Very exciting stuff!
Well said. Thank you!
look normally i agree that we should be professional and not argue with the professors about test questions or material but when it's consistently happening and the whole class is failing then i think it's an issue.
I agree with you 1000% it is a true blessing to be able to get accepted into nursing school.
+Angela Magee Most definitely!
@Ashley D. Yes ma'am! We have to remember that, even when the going gets tough! :D
New to you're channel enjoying the content. Definitely refreshing and humbling advice. Being a nursing student you definitely have your up and down that come with. Overall your right be thankful for the moment and experience! :)
Happy to have you here Courtney! Apologies for the delayed response!
Thank you for sharing this!
I'm so corny lol when you said don't take this for granted I started tearing up..... I guess it's the stress I'm under but that touched my heart
Haha. No, definitely not corny! It's very true, and something we should just be thankful for. The stress is real, but the reward is inexplicable. :-)
Dood your videos are on point! Loved this!
Thanks brother. I appreciate it man!
Nurse Bass I just need to practice practice and practice so I don't have that problem!
+Matt learn one, do one, teach one . . . this is the best method for learning. Like Nursebass says jump on every opportunity to learn especially in nursing school. If you don't feel comfortable ask the nurse if you can walk through it and have them do this one . . . then the next time jump on it!
+NRSNG Yes sir, exactly. Well put my friend.
Levi Collins ruclips.net/video/u1ogSaPDKk0/видео.html :DD
I literally just watched this video! Lol. I have another question. What do you think would be my next best step after becoming a CNA and getting a job? Where do I go and what do I become after that? Sorry for all the questions ._.
+Levi Collins After you get a job as a CNA? I guess whatever you want to do lol. If you're happy as a CNA, then stay there. If you want to be a Nurse, then go to Nursing School. There really is no additional step necessary between CNA and RN :)
Thank you!
How do you balance Nursing School and having a normal life?
+Mighty Nurse A lot of it is time management in regards to Nursing School along with making these videos. But it also helps that I don't have much of a social life haha. As well as not having to work while I'm in Nursing School. Both of those things really provide me with a lot of free time necessary to be able to study and stay busy. :D
By the way, thank you guys for all that you have been doing lately by sharing my videos. I appreciate the support big time!
Well said! Thank you. Dr Buie, Clinical Instructor
Thank you!
Thank you for your posts. You are an inspiration.
while you're in nursing school, were/are you able to work?
I did a video on this topic actually!
ruclips.net/video/1MuroRfHK7M/видео.html
+Nurse Bass okay I'll find it. thank uu
Thank you ☺️
1st semester over here !!!! Def appreciate your words of encouragement ... I just keep telling myself "I'm the egg" after watching your last video 🤓 keep the videos coming please !
Hey man my good friend invited me to his bachelor party this fall, but this is my first semester of nursing school. Do you think I should go?
Haha! Thanks! It's almost over ;-)
YOU are awesome! thank you. very helpful
+Kateryna Smith Haha, no YOU ARE! You're welcome, and thank you.
Tomorrow, I am going to see if i got accepted in to my High School's (CNA) program.
40 applied only 26 can get in. If i do get in it will be the first step for me becoming a RN. #malenurse
Thank you for your vedieos they are super helpful! I am in my first semester of nursing school. 🙃
hey bro do you know anyone that completed the program working full time?
I have a couple of people in my class who have been working full time the entire time they've been in Nursing School. It's doable, but certainly not easy AT ALL
+Nurse Bass being honest bro and not exaggerating how much do you guys approximately study every night?
+Thelilantjr I personally don't study every night. Not anymore. I study a few days a week, and when I do it's typically from around 2 to 4 to 6 hours.
@Nurse Bass...this is one of your best videos epecially #4. I just had this discussion with a friend the other day about the people who know it all and are in class. My friend was like it is their personality trait and he figured out that the people who act like they know it all in nursing or medical school end up making the most mistakes because they never took the time to let someone explain to them and just learn.lol
For real!
THANK YOU!
How'd u study for pharm? I studied hard and got a C- on my first exam:(
+Filipinogenetics Just really tried to get acquainted with the medication classes.
