Just a heads up- you mentioned there was B2 receptors on the heart. This is false, as your heart has B1 receptors and your lungs have B2. A good way to remember this is you have 1 heart (B1) and 2 lungs (B2).
😀
🧐Leave the teaching to him. You and all 52 of the likers to your comment 😭
Beta 2 receptors are predominantly present in airway smooth muscles. They also exist on cardiac muscles, uterine muscles, alveolar type II cells, mast cells, mucous glands, epithelial cells, vascular endothelium, eosinophils, lymphocytes, and skeletal muscles.Feb 27, 2023
You know I let my mom watch some of your videos and she said something very interesting. She said that you are going to be a great nurse and you should consider teaching. She also said that your grasp of concepts is really good. By you teaching it to others, you are reinforcing it in your own mind which helps you know more yourself. That's the encouragement of a 40 year retired nursing vet giving you props!!! Awesome man!!!
+Evelyn Marshall Wow, well that's awesome! Thank you for letting me know that! I definitely agree that teaching these concepts to others definitely helps reinforce the information into my memory. Tell her I said thank you and I don't take those compliments lightly! :-))
+Evelyn Marshall my instructors said if you can teach it, you"ve got it. He's got it
+Jamie Burrell Yes ma'am! That's a study technique that I use so that I know it makes sense when I right it down!
+Nurse Bass So, you're a student too?? You, see I was assuming you were already a nurse. Wow, thanks for sharing your awesome brain with us. I wish I had a fraction of it.
You would be a BOMB nursing professor! You dumb things down perfectly lol
I'm not even in nursing school yet and you helped me out so much. Please keep posting more videos on how to get As in nursing classes.
Ugh I am taking Fundamentals of Nursing with Pharmacology. They’re both monsters. I feel like I’m studying to be a doctor rather than an RN
nurse bass I thank God for you..you made me to understand more clearly about beta blockers more than my instructor. ..pharmacology is hard but it sometimes take a person like you that is full of passion to help others see clearer..thanks for all you do!
Wow!! The way you explain things is extremely helpful!! Recommending you to all my nursing student peers!! keep it up and thank you!!!
@NurseBass Thank you so much for your response I will definitely try as you suggested.
wow!! you should be an instructor, you explained that so clearly and I LEARNED ALOT !! Thank you!!!
I just found your channel and I just wanted to say your videos are very helpful and are giving me motivation! Thanks!!:) keep doing what you do!
Better late than never! Haha. And thank you very much, I appreciate that. I'll definitely keep them coming!
This was super helpful! I've been trying to find tips on how to study meds; they have been the most challenging thing for me to learn (and retain) this semester. Thanks again!
+NicoLauren3 Well thank you! I'm glad this was so helpful for you! And yes, they are definitely one of the most difficult things to grasp and keep in memory. But repetition makes all things stick!
Awesome way to break it down! Thank you for all your input :)
+Ceire Leech Well thank you! :) I'm glad you liked the video and you're very welcome!
I didn't do so well on my first Pharm Exam. I have my second one coming up and these tips have helped out a lot. Thanks
You really have no idea how much you help me. Thank you!
Well I really do appreciate that and thank you for taking the time to let me know. You're very welcome!
Thanks for the information on Beta Blockers. You made it seem easier and important to know. An asthmatic with HTN poses a real danger if given beta blockers. What an eyeopener. Thank you!
Great video! Just one critque: it's beta 1 receptors that are on the heart. Beta 2's are the lungs. (at least thats what I learned!) This was super helpful though
You're such a great teacher !!!!! Thanks Nurse Bass!!!!
inspiring ! struggling with keeping the meds in and able to regurgitate... it's definitely tough.. good vid
+nadine velasquez Thank you! Yes, it's definitely a struggle! But repetition is key! The more you see it and the more you hear it, the better it will stick :)
Can you do a series of videos on pharmacology? You explain it in a way that is so understandable!!
you are pretty good at teaching. Thanks!
As a nontraditional student this video has truly helped me...thank you!
Your videos are so helpful, thanks a lot.
This video has been so helpful thank you so much!
+Savannah C No problem at all! I'm glad you've enjoyed it and found it helpful!!
I swear I love you!! You are very knowledgeable and well rounded!! I are a great teacher and I look forward to your videos as they do help me a lot!! Thank you Bass..kiss kiss!😘
I'm going into the program this coming January, and I'm very excited! ! Yehhhhhhhh! ! I love your videos! They are so detailing, and easy to understand, takes a little bit of my anxiety away!!! Had to subscribe! !!
+She She Ayeeee, that's awesome! Congrats on getting accepted into Nursing School! It's going to be a very wild, but rewarding ride. And thank you for the wonderful compliment and for subscribing! I hope to keep providing you guys with great videos! Good luck in your preparations for Nursing School!
Thks!!!!! Nurse Bass!! Keep it up! You are very much appreciated! ! And needed!! 🙌
This is a great video! I start pharm soon, this give me a great ways of what to look for. Thank You so much for these videos, you have given me alot of confidence the harder my rn program is getting.
+Alexis DeWeese Thank you! And you're very welcome. I'm just happy to be of assistance :D
This video was helpful. thank you!
+Shaina Sensontic You're very welcome! :D
thanks! could you add some other examples to remember what a medication is for, like the one you did in labetalol?
very helpful source! thank you!
You're welcome buddy!
Thank you so much Nurse Bass. This video was very informative it gave me a better understanding of how to study pharmacology. I really believe you will make a great nurse because you understand the concepts, hopefully I will be able to retain your suggestions and remember the concepts as you did. Please continue to produce more teaching videos I really grasp what you were saying. Good Luck and God bless!!
+m2sweet4u No problem at all! I am really glad that you found the video helpful and thank you so much for the compliment! I definitely plan on continuing to make educational-type videos to help you guys out! We're all on this journey together! :-)
Great video Nurse Bass, thank you!
+lovelyjavid Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
Thanks your on point 4 year later still helping people.
I appreciate you
Interesting, easy to understand thank you for the video.
You're welcome! Glad it helped
Thank you for this video! You should do like a different drug class every week and address each one. My pharmacology is online and it’s so difficult to learn on your own
thank you very much, this really helped me alot
great video boss, by the way I watched your care plan video a couple of days ago and it was able to help me receive a perfect on my 1st one. thanks bro
+Mike Hardy Ayeee, that's awesome man! That's what I like to hear right there. Thanks for me letting me know!
Thank you for your advice
Seriously you need to become a nursing professor! I need information simplified to its most simplest form and you do exactly that! I wish you could teach all my classes lol! I’m starting pharm soon and it’s very overwhelming and frustrating so I’m trying to start early. Thanks again for another helpful video!
You're very welcome! And I really appreciate it! Maybe one day I will be, we'll see!
When you say, “Stay with me here” 😂
I damn sure started to go into la la land.
I need you to teach pharm! You made it so easy to understand and more entertaining when you give real life scenarios. 😊
Broken down nicely. Thank you.
You're so welcome! Best of luck!
Thanks Mr. Bass!
Yes sir! No problem at all!
Hey man your videos really inspire me to be a RN. As of now I'm a medical assistant, though I'm afraid of nursing because I heard is "tough". I'm taking the respiratory care practitioner route though. Is it possible to get through the "beast", Nursing program?
Such a great way of breaking down a drug and understanding it!
+Ariana Escobedo :DDD Thank you!
Learning the suffixes , thank you , I'll work on that.
+Rebecca Lucas No problem at all! Good luck in your studies! :D
Thanks , I'm so ready to move on up from being a CNA .
I'm in my 3rd week of pharm and I feel like im going crazy. This video made me feel a little bit better how you explained it. Thank you so much! love your channel by the way!!!
+Lakahya Smith Haha yes, it can be very overwhelming for sure! But you can do it! Just keep your head down and keep banging away at those books! :)
Great tips and suggestions. It can be overwhelming specially for those who don't have any type of clinical experience. Creating a table also helps studying for these meds. Thanks again, you're going to be an awesome nurse, wifey should be very proud of you.
+Tina Ortiz Aww, thank you so much Tina. I really appreciate that compliment. I sure hope so!
👍
I loved the way you explained Class: Subclass, Drug & function. I wish there was a video that could do this for all of the classes of drugs and not just the one you did for the example (anti-hypertensives). Do you have one? Or could you recommend one? Pharm final on Friday, ahh!
+Slow Creek I actually don't have one and I don't really know of anything that breaks down every single drug in that manner. But good luck to you on Friday! You'll be fine!
I just took my finals for pharm today (yes I passed but not with the grade I wished for :( ). Wish I would of discovered you before pharm. thanks for the vids and info!!!
+Lis Delgado Well I'm sorry you didn't get the grade that you wanted but hey, YOU PASSED! :) And it's alright, as long as you discovered me haha. I'll always be here!
thank you for your help....
Absolutely! No problem :D
thank you soooo much for the organization
You are soo awesome!! Thanks a ton. I have a question for the last scenario you gave for the patient who has asthma and hypertension. Would you administer the beta agonist instead because it dilates and allows more oxygen to enter the lungs though he/she is already hypertensive and it raises the patient's blood pressure or nope?
It really is physician-dependent. And there are also different beta-blockers and agonists that affect different beta receptors. It isn't quite as 'cut and dry' as I made it sound
Great tips !!
+Tiffany Rodriguez Thank you! Hope it helped!
I am very nervous about this class but after watching this video I feel better!!!
this helped... thanks!
You're welcome! :D
So what medication do you give the asthmatic patient who is hypertensive as well
I start Pharmacology next Tuesday! It's a jam packed one month summer term. 😢😲😫. thx for the video! Trying to get all the help I can get.
I hear you! That is definitely going to be a brutal one month. But best of luck to you!
Malibeau 25 How did you do?
DW Music Not so good. I didn't pass the summer course, but I did retake it in the fall & was successful. I guess I just needed more time to digest the information. 4wks vs 4mos is a huge difference. Honestly, I feel as if I know more than students who passed in the summer. :) good luck to you.
So very helpful!
+Jennifer Abebrese I'm glad!
its also best to have fun with them, only way to learn,. great video man
+RN Scrub I appreciate it! And I agree 100% :D
I haven’t started nursing yet and this makes so much sense. I start in 2 weeks! Thank you sir 😊☺️
You're so welcome buddy! Get after it!
First semester in nursing school your videos are so helpful
+Toya khan Thank you so much!! Good luck this semester!
Did you use the NRSNG MedMaster Pharmacology Course? I cant decide if I should invest in it.
I had my first pharm class yesterday and this video really helped me. I hope to excel in this class. I am a little scared but I know it is doable.
+Melodie Cruz Yes, it's most definitely doable. Good luck to you! It's a very important class!
thank you 💜💜💜💜
Love this
Starting back Monday! Last semester was my 1st semester and I am pretty sure I almost died and I am feeling the pressure and anxiety, listening to this....Oh, gah...I've heard nothing but bad things about Pharmacology. It's a lot of help, giving me a idea what it's going to be about.
+Lauren Haha well thank you and I'm glad the videos are helping a little bit!!
+Nurse Bass I need help with pharm! I read and read and read and there a so much info it's overwhelming to learn
holy crap, I have a test next week on hypertensives and you saved my ass
I take pharmacology in the spring...this video is from THE LORD! Thanks nurse bass
I'm about to start the LPN program. Thank you for being so positive and teaching strategy that really works...enjoy your videos
how did you do?? did the video help?
Thank you for this!! ATI is coming up and I'm dying slowly
+Abies Salami No problem at all! Good luck to you!
+Abies Salami OMG, I hate ATI's....who invented this program? It better help me pass the Nclex the first time!
P.S. do you have any suggestions how to retain memory, sometimes I feel I'm not remembering the material maybe it's because I am stressed and have a lot on my plate outside of nursing school. Any suggestions will help....Thanks!!!
+m2sweet4u Well, stress and external factors outside of school can definitely cause you to not retain material as well as you would otherwise. I would recommend to maybe alter your study habits a bit (if they need it). Study in tiny chunks. Maybe 30 minutes, then take a 10 minute break, then repeat. And make sure that you take the time to reflect on what you've just studied before you move on to new material. That may help you break down the material into easier-to-digest chunks and may help you retain the material better!
I was watching your video and it is a good basic video for students to watch, but there is one problem. Beta2 blockers work specifically on the lungs, not the heart. Beta1 blockers work specifically on the heart, and then there are nonselective beta1 and beta2 blockers that are contraindicated for people who are asthmatic. Just wanted to clarify the information so nursing students do not get confused. So there are patients who have asthma that can take the cardioselective beta1 blockers such as Atenolol and Metoprolol due to the receptive effect only on the heart and not on the lungs. Keep up the great work on these videos they are very helpful to many people who may be struggling to understand the difficult concepts of Pharmacology!
+hm2nc Navy RN Yea, I actually had one other person point this information out to me here in the comments thread as well. Thanks for the clarification!
@ Kathryn McNeil
, you nailed it. That's what I'm gonna say. Thanks for noticing it.
I wish you can do this type of video on every med class!!!!!!!!!!!
did he say beta 2 receptors on the heart ?
did you use the medmaster program to gain your knowledge or did you just use your wits about you? im just wondering because I'm trying to decide if i should get the medmaster program for pharmacology. I'm currently in med/surg right now. and i'm concerned that the medmaster might confuse me further with too much information. I like to take a big concept and categorize it for better retainment. Too much info increases my anxiety big time, from the looks of that website it might be too much. can you put this into perspective for me?
They are actually B1 recepters, which are generally found in the heart!! :D
100%. Your boy was a baby nursing student :p
Thank you helps for PA SCHOOL
Happy to hear it! Happy studies!
Thanks!!! make more videos!!!
+mai xiong Definitely will. You're welcome!
+Nurse Bass hi nurse Bass, i am so glad i came across your channel. I start nursing school on two weeks and i have watched every single one of your videos. Thank you so much 🙌🙌
Hey nurse bass, I'm currently a junior in high school, and one of my (potential) plans after graduating is pharmacology. Can you tell me how the workload is in college, especially in this field? Thanks in advance!
+David Ramirez Do you mean, you plan is to be a Pharmacist? You'd really have to take a bunch of general prerequisites for math and science. Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiologies, Chemistries, Statistics, other maths I'm sure.
wow this was a good lesson
There is no B2 receptors in the heart its B1....Also beta blockers acts on b1 adrenergic receptors mainly and sometimes they can affect b2 receptors in the lungs depending on the medication.
There actually are B2 receptors in the heart. But yes, the heart predominately contains B1 receptors. And I think you're right in regards to your second sentence. This video could have been done better, but it serves the purpose.
Can you recommend a pharmacology book to someone who's gonna be joining the nursing program in a year from now? I wanted to start learning earlier than later.
+Guy Zandler I really recommend NRSNG's Pharmacology Course. Check it out here: bit.ly/1q08Gaj
Just subscribed. I figure I can start studying for this now. I should be done with the nursing program in about a year, but if I start this at about one medication a day by the end of the year I should be really well acquainted with the meds and don't have to cram everything into a few weeks.
I have a request: Can you become a Nurse with a DUI on your record?
Beta blockers act on Beta 1 receptors not Beta 2 as he stated
Yea, somebody else has already corrected me on this error. My mistake
Yeah... subscribing.
Happy to hear it boss! Hope you find a lot of helpful content here :D
U seam so smart
I'm taking pharm now! I need help :(
did you use this for pharm?
Isn't it beta1 on the heart? 1 heart 2 lungs? I'm in the middle of pharm right now...its crazy. :-/
You should just teach pharm!!!! I got it!
❤️❤️❤️
Beast!
I love you ❤️
Thank you for that video, pharm is killing me
+Jamie Burrell You're welcome. I hope the video helps you approach studying those medications from a different angle. Good luck the rest of this semester!
Thank you, same to you
Can I hire you as my tutor lol Great video..But I am dead serious lol
You lost me at "patient who is asthmatic" lol. I had to listen to it again to understand.
+Susie Cruz Haha that's funny
Tutor me boo....😉😉😉
hmmm could you please not fast forward speeches :)
WHO LET THE
DOGS IN?
