How's it working a year later?
Just Vlad I replaced my 08, G35’s starter today following your instructions. It worked. Thanks for the video and thanks for not giving up during the process.
Where did you tap exactly when you tried to turn it on while tapping it ?
I just finished changing out the starter on my base model 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan following this video to the letter. The angles of the shots were crazy good considering how buried within the innards of the car this whole operation was. Removing the starter was the hardest part as Infiniti "started" with this part and built the rest of the car around it. In the end, with all the wiggling, maneuvering, and actual installation effort, and with my inconveniently beefy hands, total time from start to finish was about 2 hours. Take note of the orientation of the starter in every visible step of Vlad’s video. This method and these instructions are legit. Vlad, thank you immensely for posting this video!
Without this video, I would've paid someone to do this. You made it look easy enough and I saved alot of money by doing it myself. Thanks for the upload!
Greetings from overseas! I just changed the starter in my car and this video was a big help! It took me 6 hours 😭😭
Most helpful video for this repair I was able to find, got me back home from being stranded lol
Swapped mine on my 370Z in less than 2 hours with a friend from first to last bolt, my skid plate being half the battle. The exit route worked perfectly, THANK YOU!! 🤙🏼🙏🏻 I went with the $80 amazon starter so probably saved $900 💪🏼
Broooooo thank you so much for this video!!!! I was quoted $3000 to change it but did it myself in 2 hrs thank you. You’re a life saver!!!
Just got an alignment and starter went out and I was bummed to take off control arm and/or steering rack but so glad I came across this video. Just got done and took a couple hours. Thank you!
Braaaaa same hereeeee I got an alignment and starter went at
Don't own an Infiniti but admire how you figured it out .
appreciate you for making this video and i love your attitude, my dad and i have no experience with mechanics but thanks to your video it’s only taken us a couple of hours! hope you and your fam are doing well
Best tutorial out there took about 2 hours to do but definitely and lot less of a pain than taking the steering rack apart thanks!
Thank you for doing this video. This is the exact make and model I have and I swapped the starter without any issues just by following the video. You are helping people and saving them a lot of money. I really appreciate it.
Definitely best tutorial out there for sure. I was struggling to remove it through the wheel well with my long tube headers. Out the front worked like a dream! Much thanks, saved me a ton of time!
This man deserves a million subs just from this video, mans a hero
Did this today on my 08 g37 base coupe and took me about 3 hours. I was able to bring mine out just below the alternator instead of through the area with the hoses. Thanks again for the video, it saved me a lot of money doing it myself.
mlee5175 howwwwwwwwwwwww
@@GTPressure by turning and wiggling it around.
What starter did you get!?
That would be the A/C not the alternator. Alt is on the passenger side
Vald you need an award THANK YOU SIR!!!!
My 2009 Infiniti G37x have the same problem. New Interstate battery... thought something was draining it. When you started yours and the sound started and stopped, I had the exact same sound ... its my starter. I 'll do it myself and save some bucks. Wish me luck ...good luck to you guys ... and thanks for the video.
So on the all-wheel-drive version, is it the same?
Maaan, thanks so much for this video. I was on my way to the nut house trying to get this thing out....let alone getting the new one in. I didn't think it would come out the front, but luckily I ran across this very HELPFUL video. Blessings!
100% Thanks for the video, couldn't have done it without this. My troubled spot was during installation and sliding pass the steering rigid lines. Just find the rotation spot/angle, bottom inward (solenoid out).
Just a tip for all the AWD X owners, this method won't work. Steering pinion needs to be removed and more curse words need to be spoken to get the starter out.
Hey, hopefully you reply to this :P
So I have an 08’ g35x and had a shop replace my starter a year ago, and as soon as they fixed it the AWD SLIP AND VDC lights came on, you think it had something to do with them taking the steering pinion out??
Could you suggest a video that shows the procedure for all wheel drive?
Can confirm just tried to do it this way
Makes me glad I got the base
It worked I changed my starter 2008 g35s . Thank you Sir. Guys you have to do just like he did.
Super helpful, and you didn’t have to take apart the steering. Thanks!
My G35 is having starter troubles and I just got my hands on the new one yesterday. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this video my dad was nice enough to help my by doing it while I was at work he said this video helped a ton except from the fact we live in a rainy tropical island which means demon bolts are literally every bolt
I just wanna say thanks for the video. You saved me time and money and it wasn’t even that bad of a job thanks to your help👍🏽
Appreciate the video. I have a 09 m35 and it was basically the same...getting the starter through that front space was a PAIN... But it came out and is possible. I saw other videos of the taking major things apart but with a little patience it does come out in the front space. Removing the wire bracket is key. Thanks again!
Finished doing mines a few days ago. Purchased the same starter using your link. Took me around 4 hours to do mines. Lot of breaks because of age lol. Thanks for posting this. With common knowledge one would think that removal of the sub frame and steering linkage is necessary leading to a bigger job than it needs. You’ve saved me a lot of time and literally my back and I thank you. First Nissan I’ve ever owned as I’m primarily a Honda guy. My starter went out on my g35 and it only has 72000 miles Smh.
Thanks for the video, this is the closest video I can find for the fx35, I hope it comes out the same.
I got a 06 G35 base, my starter was on the passenger side. I didn't bother taking off the wheel cuz it was already in the air. It's a tight space but I was able to take it out without taking anything else off. I never knew about the connector and nut tho. Thanks
This video got me the info I needed. Every other video do more work to get the starter out. This is simple 👍
Corrections:
1. You should not use a wratchet to brake hard bolts.
2. Disconnect the hot side of the battery. Better safety.
3. Jack the front end up and place a jack stand on the rear of the front crossmember.
4. 14mm 12 point socket, 1-2 foot extension, with 18 inch braker bar for the bolts.
5. 17 millimeter remove the engine mount bolts.
6. Jack up the engine 4 inches, to make better room to take out the starter.
7. Weare clear safety glasses to prevent dirt & grease from falling in your eyes.
Thanks for the video.
I took mine out the same way you did, bought the same starter. It worked out great. Thanks
Thanks for posting 08 video there is not much out there. I was able to change my starter out with your help. Infiniti wanted $ 852.00 ! My cost 100$. Thanks bro !
I N F I N I T I
Thanks man 🙏 I need to replace my starter soon and this was a quick and simple video! Sub!
Thanks bro was able to take it out in 15 min 🤣🤣 such an easy job
I like this video, got the starter going to the front but now its stuck . I have a 6speed manual rear wheel drive and it seems like i have less space to deal with.its been 4 hrs now with the temp being 39 °F.
My dude. I'll be trying this out tomorrow. Starter pooped out at work. Wish me luck. Not removing those damn linkages would be a huge relief.
I just did it bcuz of you g35 wizard 🧙♀️!!! Thanks for this video
Changed one recently on
a G37X, you must remove the CV axle to get it out of the hole.
yea i just tried to do mine but on all wheel drive cars you unfortunately can't do it this way
Used this video to change out my 2008 G37s stater which is a much more elegant solution then lifting the engine as suggested by Nissan. This information saved me hours of time and as Heath Hoytt stated below it is legit.
Mark Boyer did it solve your problem? I have the same car and it happened me today. called a shop and they told me 600$... so I’m thinking about doing it myself.
Thanks for the vid man! A little bit of patience and it can be wiggled in and out of there!
Niga you forgot to show how to take the axle off I was so confused the starter wouldn’t come out on the front until I realize they have to take the axle off to
very easy install thanks for the vid & starter 💪🏾
I had a problem. First off this video is the most helpful tool unlocks tools I've seen so far. Unfortunately the replacement starter I purchased has issue. There are only two bolts for this starter. Only one hole has a collar or sleeve preset into it. The replacement I had the sleeve was in the wrong hole and we did not catch it. No video discusses this. The starter would not sit flush so we remove the whole thing took the collar out and put a new one in. Took only one and a half hours to do it the first time and 1 hour the second. And we spent time discussing if this was good even work the first time. I had to show my mechanic friends that it will work by using this video. Real funny but save me $400 $500?. Thank you very much
Took me 3 hours….hardest part for me was putting the new one back into the spot and finding a 14mm to brake the 2 starter bolts….got frustrated and took breaks but nonetheless I got through….thank you
Dumb noob question but do you or you guys think this should also apply to the g37x?
Brooo right on! Just fini replacing on my 08 g35. Wish I’d did that knock on the starter trick too though, so they got me on the tow 😅. Great vid much thx
Luckily mine failed in the garage. They would have gotten me on the tow too haha
Great video, question, has been 2 years how is this starter holding up??
Ordered the part will drop follow up comment. I’m not mechanically inclined so this is a confidence booster. I’ll be fixing it on my own. Will comment with results. Thanks in advance
Hi, did the starter last? Would like to know, I've read a lot of bad reviews on that particular company. They don't manufacture the part, rather rebrand other manufacturers.
Best tutorial on getting this done. Hardest part is removing and re-inserting the starter. I was stuck for an hour and watching this had it make sense and I was able to get it all fixed.
Trying to do this right now. I have a 2010 g37x and do not have this much room to feed it through. Won’t even fit. Any suggestions?!
What did you end up doing?
Having same fault with mine . Awesome video thanks, gives me confidence to it my self
The starter on my g35x 2007 broke today I followed a bit your video to find the location but its not the same procedure to remove it mine its awd I had to lower the sub frame, move the control arm and remove the inner tie rod and moving the rack n pinion.
There's gotta be a better way
@@tfrank821 not on a g35x, you have to remove the axle first
If you're doing this on a 2011 M37. It's very similar but you will have to remove the lower engine mount bolts and raise the engine up to get it out. That's what I had to do on mine, but overall a relatively easy job.
I appreciate you man!! Video came in clutch af!! 🙌🙏🤙
This was a very helpful video saved my ass very difficult
I have a 08 g35 as well. 142k for miles, mine has had a weak sounding turnover for about a week or 2. It finally didn’t start this morning after trying to jump it a few times.
Was it the starter?
@@vq_j8cob375 it was. I bought one at Oreilys and my buddy installed it for me
Quick question, the positive battery cable travels down and connects to the alternator and then keeps travelling down and ends at the starter?
Super dope ! Very informational ! Thanks
Did it take longer to take it out? Or put new one in? Thanks
nice work man !! Planning to do same on my Q50 hopefully it will work same way :) Thank you for the video
Did It ever work out for the Q50? Attempting to do the same myself but i fear there’s gonna be a lot of different issues in the way
@@verefiedxL my issue ended up being weak battery , I put bigger battery and solved my starting issue.
Dude I have an Infinity EX35, 2008 model and yesterday I to tried to change my starter out. I don't like to swear but oh my word I totally lost it. {√¥¢%®™=√€€®} After watching your RUclips video I'm going to go back and give it 1 more try before calling a mechanic. I have the same issues with steering column and motor mount in my freaking way. I'll get back and let you know. I pray 🙏 it works the way you showed...
Well I just got back inside after 3 hours of still trying to get that darn starter out. I got the starter all the way to the front of the car but it was still to big to come out of that space. I unbolted that one bracket like you did but I guess our cars are made differently. Mine is the EX35 model, same year. The starter is exactly the same but removing it is totally different. The 3 quotes I got helped me make up my mind about getting a newer and different vehicle. Damn they want a leg and arm for changing it. So I gave them the finger also.
@@VC.GANG_EDITZwhat happened we did
You get it out ??
thank you this was very helpful
😀
I am having starter issues with my 2009 g37x. We did and engine swap and put everything back together but now to starter only clicks when you try to start the car and does not spin the flywheel. We have checked all grounds and trued every trick in the book from cranking the motor to hitting it with a pole while starting it and nothing worked. Battery is fully charged and we tested both the starter and the solenoid with jumpers off the battery amd it started right up. We are lost as to why it won't work when connected to the battery cable. We cleaned all terminals and checked all fuses and they are all good. The only thing that happened is the starter accidentally got left in the rain during the swap because we did it outside but it still starts with the jumpers. We will be replacing the starter today. Hopefully it works.
One thing that I ran into that I don't recall from the video is the small bracket on the alternator has to be removed. It's held on with a single 10mm bolt.
The clicking is your Starter Solenoid (Relay). And the reason for slow start in hot weather or after running engine is due to Electrical resistance increasing with temperature. So your Starter motor winding had a higher than nominal resistance for the designed circuit which reduces the current and increases the voltage to a point.
4 years later only good video for the Vq35hr 😂😂 thank you for your service 🫡 I swear all these other videos we’re filmed on a potato and we’re not straight forward 🤦🏽♂️
Why is it so hard to get mine out you make it look so simple
Great job Sir ❤❤
Hows the starter holding up? What mileage were you at when failed? I think my 08 105k miles is failing
You broke the code my dude. 👍
Mane I try to take the starter yesterday and I spend 5 hours and nothing bc the motor mount in the way idk how easy u took it out 😂 and I have 2008 Infiniti g35s
Thank you for this. My only question is:" did you have to return the core? ". Because usually they want you to return the old starter and the give you some $ for it
DRUMZZ curious, how did it go for you on the Q50 as far getting the starter out. Unscrewing was easy.
@@outdoorPaki hey man. Actually, I had to pay a mechanic to do it for me. I have a 350z and it was not easy. He had to remove a few things to get to the starter
About to dive into this with my 09 370. Idk shit about cars so... Fingers crossed 😅
.00005mm away from the garage door is making me anxious.. good video
Thought I was having starter issues. Actually when I try to turn the vehicle on, it doesn’t try to start. All the lights come on tho so I don’t know what it could possibly be. The belt was making a whistling noise a couple days prior. Any ideas on what this could be?
Solid video man! Much appreciated
Does a bad starter cause click sounds?
That was awesome bro! Thank you for your help!
Wowww BEST VIDEO THANKSSSS 👍👍👍👍
Awesome video. Can’t thank you enough for this video. I’ll work on my car this weekend thanks a lot.
Thank you
Does it fit a g37 2009
Does this sort of apply with the Nissan /350z/370z ? I own a 370z and it occasionally makes a squirrelly sound on start up.
Great video. Thanks
AWD Versions are different. I had to remove the steering knuckle and axle to remove starter and it comes out through the front
Damn mine just crapped out on me too. You had to remove the whole cv axle in order to get the starter out? What a pain in the ass, I haven't gotten underneath the car yet to take a look. Just trying to find some info, which there isn't much on the awd version go figure. Oh well guess I need to get a socket to get the cv Axle out, is it a 22mm? I'll figure it out this just sucks.
@@nowimhigh any luck?
Thanks
How do you know if it’s a starter or alternator?
If your car starts and continues to run the alternator is doing it’s thing and keeping the car running.
thanks ‼️‼️‼️‼️😊
I just changed my and it took me 35 min to do the job 🤷🏾♂️
My top bolt is so tight how can I loosen it
You the GOAT!
Is your car awd?
Will this fit my 2008 g37 ????
Smart man.if you don’t have a jack stand put the rim as safety.better be safe than soory
My 08 m35 does this but only when it's cold. Just today I got off of work this morning and it was about 35 degrees here in San Antonio. I went to turn it on and it was just a click and nothing. The alternator is only about 6 months old and the battery is maybe 1 year old so I'm assuming it's the starter.
Good Luck! Hope you are successful!
Will this be the same process/locations on a 08g37s
Duh its hr so yes
@@juanq1364 idiot. VHR in the 08 g37. DUH

Is that TYC Starter still working?
What size are the bolts that hold the starter in place? 13mm? 14mm?
Someone answer this man.
@@nomercykid6917 I had that starter replaced by a mechanic because in a G37 the hole is too small to get the starter out.
I have sold that car at this point.
@@robertellman6178 gotcha. I ended up changing the starter on my g35 myself. It’s 14mm bolts that hold it in place and a 13mm bolt that connects it to the other end of that battery terminal
