Found all of the pieces I needed and completed the whole job in an hour and a half. I used clear tubing so I could see how it was draining. You sir are a genious! Thank you for sharing this video!!! I've had this leak issue repaired TWICE at the dealership, both at great cost, and just two years between "fixes"! And the leak recently returned again for the THIRD time! I took my 2010 G37 back to the dealer and they want $2k to "fix" it!! I told them there was no way would pay that ridiculous price. And the service advisor and manager both tried to tell me they've never heard of these cars having repeat issues, that once it's fixed, it's fixed. Liars!!! I called the parts department to see if they had the drain clips in stock and this guy was honest about this issue. He told me that they keep this part in stock because these cars have this known design flaw. I ordered all of the parts on everyone's favorite online store and they will be delivered tomorrow. Then I'll tackle the issue and fix this problem myself.

    2008 G35 Sport Sedan. My son and I just completed this repair. The hardest part was on the passenger side. Routing the tubing through the dash from the A-pillars. It would only go about a foot or less and then stop. Since we could not get it to go further, we had to remove the glovebox and the support behind it. Removal was super simple and afforded us a much better access and view to route the tubing from the A-pillar and behind the dash to the firewall and ultimately to the passenger footwell. We did both sides, passenger and driver even though the only side that was leaking was the passenger, it was only a matter of time for the driver side to fail - the driver side was much simpler to route the tubing through the dash under the steering wheel shaft and over the top of the pedals - easily zip tied to keep the tube clear of the pedals and maintain drain slope. Huge kudos to you for sharing this video and showing that it can be done.

    I have the same problem with my 2010 Infiniti FX35. My carpet were soaked like yours. I did extensive research on this and found that the cause of the problem is the drain plugs that terminate in the firewall. I watched a lot of videos of people trying to replace those, or modify their existing plugs by taking out the baffle and putting in a metal straw. This seemed extremely difficult and beyond my skill set.
    I didn't want to pay $1500 for the dealer to replace the drain plugs only to have it happen again so I decided I would do it myself. When I pulled the carpet up I saw the AC drain in the floorboard and thought that I might be able to use that. I searched on RUclips to see if anyone else had the same thought and found your video. We must think alike.
    I'm good at troubleshooting and coming up with solutions, but not so good at executing the solution so I am glad that you posted this video to show me how it's done. I am going to attempt it in the next few days as soon as I source the parts. This seems like the best fix for this solution.
    What I am really surprised at is how come there isn't a recall for this problem since it happens to EVERYONE at some point. It's not just wet carpets you have to deal with either. I have read horror stories about people who have had electrical problems from the water ruining their ECMs and other electronics. I love Infiniti but I will never buy another one with a sunroof.

Rather than tie the two drain hoses from the sun roof together before they tied into the A/C drain as he did at 7:40 in the video, I cut the A/C drain in two places. The first being about 4 inches before it went down through the floor, then at another 4 inches from that spot. Many thanks brother. After watching your video for about the 7th time, I eventually gained the confidence to solve my M35 sunroof leakage problem myself.
    The M35 (2009) is a little different than yours, though. First, I notice there was no space for an extra hose beside the factory one. So, I had to pull out the factory one entirely. Then I ran my new hose into the same hole, but it didn't come out in the cabin. Instead, it came out outside (in the hood). I was then able to find a hole through which I passed the hose all the way to the back of the tire (for the driver side). I did the same thing for the passenger side.
    The driver side is relatively easier. The passenger side, on the other hand, was really tough. I spend approximately three hours on this job, and about two hours of this whole time was spent on the passenger side. This is because I tried passing the hose through a hole underneath the battery tray (close to the IPDM). This proved impossible. I eventually had to pass the hose beside the battery and all the way to the front. That way, I was able to get it out somewhere close to the tire.
    In essence, my sunroof leakage has been fixed, and I have no fear of rain anymore, all thanks to your video, and a few others I watched.
    Worthy of note: this work on my 2009 M35 had absolutely nothing to do with the cabin, except for pulling out the A-pillar. I also did not use the T, since I didn't need to connect my hoses to the AC drainage hose. All I used for this job were the hose (about 15ft), two two-way connectors, and some zip locks.

Got it done in about an hour. Such an easy fix, better then the stupid straw/ drain method. The driver side I had a little bit of a harder time cause I had to put the tube behind the steering column, which caused it to travel up slightly so water doesn’t get pushed through as good, but it still works great. • @willperez7930
      @willperez7930 11 месяцев назад +1

      @dustinvq37 My car would not cut on at all. Even after trying to jumpstart it with two fully charged jump boxes. Thinking that it was the starter, I replaced it, but all that did was made more confusion as the car this time would not turn off without completely removing the positive terminal and circuits. After finding the water under the rug and getting obd checked. A crapload of codes thrown relating to electrical issues. Mind you, battery, alternator, even my original starter were all good. The bcm was just on the fritz from all the moisture. We have had not only bad floods in my city due to the rain and clogged sewer drains, but we also just got hit with snow. Just got my car back today from infiniti, new bcm. Running great and firing right up even faster than before. However, I still need to treat the leak to avoid ever having this happen again.
      Keep in mind, fellas, if you go through your comprehensive coverage, they will also cover the diagnostic fee. If you find water intrusion under your carpet, the best bet is to utilize your insurance for the moisture if it caused an electrical issue that your premium will cover.

    I was seriously considering getting rid of my car due to several frustrating issues. In the winter, condensation would cause the windshield to ice over, and as it started to melt, my dashboard would get soaked. The fogging was relentless, and both the driver and passenger floors would become soaked-just like in the video. Water even spread behind the seats. (If you're tackling this issue, make sure to pull up the carpet and floorboard to remove any trapped water and dry the carpet properly.) To make matters worse, there was that awful mildew smell. (A few moisture absorber packs in the car can really help with this.) On top of all that, I was dealing with the "Shift to Park" warning that would pop up after it rained, followed by an annoying sound. I'd have to unplug and reconnect the battery for at least three days just to stop the error. I was done with my car, but thanks to this fix, everything has been resolved for six months now. This solution has truly been a game-changer! A huge thanks!

    Big thanks to Import Logic for this video. I had previously replaced the passenger side plug in the firewall - a miracle that I got the plug through the sound insulation and into the wall. Didn't want to do that again so I followed this approach for the drivers side. Bought 1/2" OD 3/8" ID clear vinyl tubing at Lowes (US hardware store), along with a 3/8" - 3/8" barbed junction that I attached with zip ties in the A pillar and a 3/8x3/8x3/8 T. Because the AC line is slightly larger, I used small hose clamps all around at the T. I also zip tied the tube above the accelerator to ensure no interference. I couldn't get the entire tube to go downhill to the AC condenser, so there is a little water pooling in the tube below the steering column. I wish I had bought black tubing to make this less obvious. Installed yesterday and so far so good!

Then I snaked it with a brush tip wire and degreaser all the way down to the firewall and followed with hot water. It started draining great so I assumed I got lucky. No, although it's draining outside car it still also leaking inside as well. I guess it's safe to assume the hose leading to the firewall plastic cap seal is shot?
