Hello everyone!
As most of you already know, using R6 IBIS with a super wide angle lens has been practically impossible until the new R6 Firmware update 1.6. I actually turned off IBIS in my videos with anything wider than 24mm until now. It looked terrible and impossible to watch (with my shaky hands).
So, I got real excited when I saw the new firmware tackling the wobble issue. I had no big expectations since this is not a hardware solution.
I don't like to test, review stuff. I find it super boring and feel like it is a waste of my time to test stuff just for the sake of testing. Trying to sell a product to an audience has never been my passion. I just enjoy being outside. If I have a camera with me I do my best to capture how it feels like at the moment.
So, I went on a short hike last weekend with the firmware updated on my camera. I took a bunch of shots. Mostly handheld to see what is going on and if I can really use this in the future. Until now, all handheld super wide IBIS footage looked horrible. I lost some amazing scenes due to this issue when I purchased the camera and after watching I turned the IBIS off forever :)
Update took away a huge portion of the crazy wobble and I think this is all I needed. I am not expecting R6 to be an action camera to run around. Really happy to be able to get a couple seconds of usable handheld footage when needed. I really appreciate this update and will gladly keep the IBIS open more.
Don't get me wrong. Wobble is still there but not as crazy as before.
In this video, unless you see my whole body in the shot it means it was shot handheld with IBIS on.
I hope you are having a great weekend!
See you in the next one!
Cheers!

Hello Everyone!
For video nerds
This was shot in Clog
4K 23.976 FPS
Video IS on in level 1
All handheld (unless you see my full body in the scene)
Have a wonderful day!
These are helpful details. Thanks for sharing 🙏
I actively seek out videos like yours where I can see what people can create with the products, rather than so much talking about the basics everyone can look up. I appreciate your "show rather than tell" style. Keep it up ✊🙌
Hey thank u!
I agree, if feels more personal when done like this.
Wow! Magnificent!
Thank you! Cheers!
It’s amazing 😍
Thank u!
Made the update for my R6 also recently ! Canon Rf 16mm is a wayy better lens now !
Yeah. Any lens wider than 24mm got more usable
@@barparildar yup!
Very peaceful
Superb images
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing
Thank you!
A misty morning... nice video. And did the update it's work?
Thank you Paul! I tried to summarize my thoughts in description. It is not perfect but I think way better than what it used to be
@@barparildar Hi Baris, I failed to read the description, sorry for that. Sometimes I'm too lazy and go watch the video right away. Now I've read it, and thanks for explaining the problem.
❣️
😍
Hi! did you upgrade from 1.5.2 or something older_ I just bought my r6 and it came with the 1.5.2 firmware. Is the huge difference with the IBIS wobble compared with my firmware or is it compared to an older one?
Hi! 1.6 was the first firmware update they addressed IBIS issue
@@barparildar nice, thanks for the reply.
Do you Prefer canon over Sony
It totally depends on what I am shooting. For daily use or YT I love using Canon. For complex lighting and landscape photography Sony still gives more flexibility.
@@barparildar Why? The dynamic range on the R6 (and R5) are greater than most Sonys. The R6 in my head to head comparison to the A7IV has more dynamic range recovery in the shadows (ie, there is much less noise on the R6). For detail, if I output the R6 files in Adobe Camera Raw to 33 MP, the R6 will usually outresolve the A7IV (even moreso if I use ACR's "enhance" feature and output to 33 MP). Is there something I'm missing?
how is the overheating issue?
I never had any type of overheating
HI, you shot in clog or clog3? Thanks
Hi, I use both but this one was clog
@@barparildar At how many iso did you shoot in this video? Do you expose using zebras? thank you :)
@@sergio_spanu iso was changing from 800-6400. I use both zebras and histogram to check exposure. Np!
Do you shoot log ?
Yes
