In hive school they taught him that Guardians are the literal devil and the anathema to Thargoid efforts. He freezes for a moment, his hyper evolved survival instincts flooding his system with all kinds of hormones while his mind says: "Why me?", but then pulls himself together and slaps every switch in his cockpit to get his ship into combat mode.

its interesting to see how an alien species that is shown to inflict only fear and destruction, looks as if it actually feels emotions. it sees the guardian cargo and flashes red but doesnt attack for a while, even looks like its shaking and feels fear, could also be grief knowing how many thargoids the guardians killed
It's like it has to take a second to be sure the scan is real, you gotta think that it's been over a million years since they wiped out the guardians, at this point to find another alien with guardian tech is legendary... And terrifying.
They did so well at the thargoid. I love that the put so much work into the articulation and variation to their movements based on different stuff like this
I think it waits for a moment for you to give it some. If you have meta alloys it will do the same thing, and if you give it some it will take it and call in a buddy
The thargiod’s reaction is probably kill it now before the humans can figure out what they’re actually carrying onboard and have a nice first contact with our enemy’s
The irony being you can have all the guardian tech in the world onboard your ship and they don't give a fuck. Rock up to the fight with guardian hull and weapons and they don't care at all.

They react differently to different (or lack thereof) cargo. They are nonaggressive if you're carrying human or no cargo.
actually guardian and thargoid are in war and thargoid interdiction have a guardian detector so if you have one they would be automaticaly agressive to you

It's its way of requesting that you jettison the offending cargo so that it can destroy it without blasting through your hull.
