You forgot "Never attack a Fuel Rat."
People do
It's more like attack a fuel rat and see what happens
It should be that if you kill a file rat you will get a 900,000,000 credit fine and will have hit men sent to you at all times
@@jamestaco5575 would be easy money for his friend then XD

Rule 8.5: To avoid the exclusion zone of a neutron star, DON’T FLY INTO THE BIT THAT ACTUALLY HAS MASS! FLY INTO THE TIP OF THE RADIATION CONES!
You forgot "Always boost into and out of the mail slot."
gotta blast
I always do that. If anyone is in my way there immediately my second priority. you're in my way on my federal Corvette will make sure you're no longer in my way
@@Canadian_Ale boosting still scans my ship, pretty sure it don't work anymore.
And another rule: LOITERING IS A CRIME.
If station control don't have to remind you constantly of the 100m/s speed limit you aren't flying right
dont forget the golden rule "never attack an on duty fuel rat"
Never attack a Rat Period... on duty or not..
Or you can fuck around and find out... what if feels like to be on multiple KoS lists
I don't know I found the assholes in this game attack anything that moves especially if they're near engineers or Jameson. I pretty much exclusively play on solo. I just want to explore and haul cargo in occasionally kill some pirates without being charge fees because somebody with an over engineered ship and a million overheat weapons killed me in half a second despite me being unarmed.

And now for the truly unspoken rule of ED: "condemn everybody profiting from big money glitches / loopholes, but at the same time make sure you become at least a billionaire from abusing these mechanics yourself"
Do not forget fuel scoop. Heh, first hour I already broke that rule and needed the Fuel Rats to come help me.
my friend did it in 20 minutes and i had to save his sidewinder ass in my cobra lmao
I sometimes leave it be when I'm doing some short activities like mining, if I need more space to fit things in.
Wait, wait, wait, what about "Never boost during a docking sequence!" ?
Haha! Done that before. 😂
Avoid boosting the mailslot and jamming yourself and an Orca in the slot.

Rule number 0 : You shall never talk about GRIND!

@Harv Grind in the Apple II+ version of this game stole my childhood, lol.
I dig the Power of Six, but find that 75 at 7 to be more achievable.
Yep, cause it's more safe.
I didn't know about the Power of 6. In this household we're all about the Rule of 7
Disney: "Avengers" is the most ambitious crossover ever...
Hold my Hydrogen fuel
check out the "why you play Elite" that in comparison is something else !
the rule of 6 is an old fav, but i break it often when i'm being stalked by interdiction. i throttle to 0.05 or 0.04, angle myself 15° away from my target, then spiral in on it. you get there just as quickly, and you're not a stationary angled target for anyone to yank you out of supercruise.
Creative angling during approach to avoid unwanted yanking turns up in the later, more advanced chapters of The Joy Of Six... ;)
The MUCH easier way is to go 75% at 7 (or 6) seconds and it'll decelerate perfectly, no need to do or manage anything. By far the fastest and easiest way.
@@Exigeous But you'll get interdicted before you reach your target that way.
I usually just throttle to let it deceletate on its own while doing continuous corkscrews so I'm not going completely straight if I think I'm being stalked. Haven't been interdicted that way yet. Maybe I've just gotten lucky lol.
@@DixxyV let em try, no ai has been able to interdict me if i was flying something nimble
As a seasoned veteran of two hours, I find this video very helpful.

Elite Dangerous is a fun game if they get red of ship rebuy, because if you don't have enough money to buy your new ship you got to start from scratch. which means 0 credit 0 everything, except your basic ship. This is why I don't do battle is because all the enemies are always behind me, and my dophine cost a lot of money to have to rebuy it.

I can’t believe I completely missed this game exists. I gonna have to get the VR and computer system for this!
The last rule is perhaps the most important.
The tutorials are not there to show you the key bindings (even if they do that), they are there to teach you how to perform the differenct actions in the game.
A few houndred hours in (returning after a long break) and I have still to do any fighting. Lots of trades, mission, ducking interdiction and one short exploration trip.
When it is time to go bounty hunting, I will still have to play the combat tutorials several times to learn how to use a ship correctly, and propably also take my fighter (whichever ship it will be) for a dry run in a system without pirates or other opposition.
Fantastic... more of these mashups please. Love your work

Every time diggthat32 speaks I bet women scream in happiness.
This was a really cool collaboration. You guys are great
As far as the rule of 6 goes, I recently started violating that because approaching an object is actually faster if you overshoot and spiral around it. I use this for the new exploration, will let it get just below 5 then nose down and maintain an angle until I'm the proper distance away from it and then I'll slow down with the object perpendicular to my direction of movement.
Far faster than just maintaining 6 seconds and waiting 20 seconds to slow down the easy way.
A good pilot think about 6. A *great* pilot thinks about 5.
Good man
Weak pilots should stick to the 6-7s approach. Good pilots can do a 5s. Great pilots can do a 2s approach.
0:05 then full throttle under 2Mm
You can full throttle at 6MM (maybe sooner, still playing with the technique). If you're approaching an orbital station you can full throttle toward the planet, skim the exclusion zone to slow down and then reaim toward the mail slot. This will shave around 15 seconds of your approach and makes you harder to interdict.
And a fantastic pilot thinks about 7

Minecraft: NEVER dig down
Elite: AVOID OPEN PLAY LIKE THE PLAGUE!
I use 10 seconds when decelerating in supercruise. That way I have four seconds to correct if need be. This is also my first time commenting on a RUclips video. Another tip that I think would be vital to new players is that the compass will point to your docking pad while inside stations, approaching surface ports, and landing at the small space ports. Very much enjoy the content that all of you provide and have learned much from it. Keep up the great work. O7 and fly safe, “or dangerous”.
10sec is way too conservative. If you want to be super-safe, 7sec is fine.
Honestly #6 was probably the most useful for me personally but god I was so uncomfortable that whole time

This collaboration is the elite dangerous version of Yamiks screaming AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
Rule 8.5: To avoid the exclusion zone of a neutron star, DON’T FLY INTO THE BIT THAT ACTUALLY HAS MASS! FLY INTO THE TIP OF THE RADIATION CONES!
I lost my first expensive ship, the Krait, without a rebuy and it was one of the saddest gaming experiences I've ever had. It was penance paid to work my way back. Tempted to make the mistake again on my Anaconda to get Class 3 turreted beam lasers...and didn't.
The rebuy rule is kinda stupid or half stupid (you need 2x rebuy) because else right after dying and using your rebuy, you are basically forced to fly without rebuy to make the rebuy again. People might have other ships they can fly that have less rebuy cost and use that to generate the rebuy for the expensive ship again. But in my experience the rebuy of a ship matches it's ability to generate money so generating rebuy for an expensive ship with a cheap ship can be a real pain in the ass.
Ah, but the thing about a two rebuy rule is that it doesn't end there. After you spend the first rebuy, you'd only have one left, instead of the two you need for a two rebuy rule. So you really need three. And so on, until you get to needing infinite rebuys.
The thing is that you shouldn't fly without a rebuy... if you don't have a second and end up losing the ship once, then you should switch to flying something cheaper. It could be that you buy a Sidewinder at the station and use that. That's still better than flying your good ship and risking losing it a second time and losing all the work you put into it. That's what not flying without a rebuy is about. Of course, if you don't care much for the ship and are willing to risk being forced to start over in a Sidewinder, go ahead... that can be a gambit taken in the early game. Eventually, though, the goal is to effectively have those "infinite" rebuys... so much money that it would take many loses before you even became concerned that you should make some money to replace those rebuys.
That sounds good but if you've ever stood there with your expensive ship and no rebuy left and having to earn back the rebuy with your cobra doing low risk missions you will know that 1 rebuy sucks. I suppose I should rephrase: 1. Never fly out without a rebuy. 2. If you don't have a second rebuy earn a 2nd rebuy doing low risk stuff before doing high risk stuff.
Yeah, if you play enough then you'll eventually accumulate vast wealth and spare ships and numerous rebuys with little worry.
But until you get there you've got to use credits to earn credits. Put some aside for rebuy. But rebuy savings aren't filling your cargo holds or shooting down your targets.
Damn, old graphics looks so good. Now sitting in a ship i feel like im in a fucking hookah, surrounded by potheads
Good video! I noticed he said exclusion zone lines are blue...they're yellow. Orbital cruise borders are blue. :)
Rule 69 - Only share gold rushes once you've profited enough from them.
Actually the quickest way to get to the Station is to give full throttle until 4-Seconds away.
Then Overshoot and turn, give full throttle again and fly close to the planet using its Gravitywave to slow you down.
Takes skill, but is quicker.
Also guarantees that you will face the Station-Entrance, because you approach from the direction of the Planet.
Best pilots are thinking about 5 acutally. Best eta is between 6 and 5, so You aim for 0:05 number but just right next to 0:06. Best way is to oscillate to one another. You can easily achieve 0:06 by setting throttle to increase/decrease about 10%. 70% is 0:06 for most of the ships in most situations.
Sorry but this is incorrect - the best/fastest and easiest way (I've tested/raced many friends) is to just go 75% throttle at 6 or 7 seconds and you're done. You'll decelerate perfectly (unless you hit a gravity well) and won't need to do a thing - and you'll never loop of shame killing your approach. Shocked more people don't understand this basic principle, maybe I'll have to do a tutorial :D
@@Exigeous In general, I concur with the rule of six being the best (and easiest) solution to not overshoot and get to the station really fast. But there are some things worth mentioning when it comes to that one:
1. If the station is over the other "half" of the planet (read: you have to pass the planet's centre to get there), it pays out to actually fly a bigger "circle" around the planet, since your speed will be much higher than if you don't (which in turn means that even though you fly a "longer" course, you'll arrive at the station much earlier!).
2. This is especially true if the station you are approaching is not a coriolis style one, since the FASTEST way to get there is to basically approach on the (imagined) line from the planet's centre through the station, since you will be flying much faster that way than if you approach in any other angle. I've had it quite often that I've already docked at a station when other players (who actually were already 1/3rd or more closer to the planet when I jumped into the system, especially at CGs) where still in super cruise...
3. If you really know what you are doing, you can pull off a "gravity break" maneuver with the planet. If done correctly, it will get you to the station faster than any other maneuver (but it's really something you have to practice - A LOT - to get it right). I normally use that maneuver if I've a bounty hunter or something like that following me, since it normally prevents him from getting behind me close enough to pull me out of SC (and often ends with the bounty hunter/pirate having to crash out of SC because he came to close to the planet! :-D ).
There are some other tricks as well (yeah, "spiralling" kind of works, too - but it's too unpredictable in it's results most of the time for my taste - maybe I need to practice it more, but since I already have two perfectly working maneuvers, I actually don't see the need for it ;-) ).
@@IgorRockt Hi, nice tips. I wonder, can you tell me how gravity break work?
@@rescue1405 It comes down to basically flying VERY close to the exclusion/orbit zone of the planet with high speed on the opposite side (to the station) of the planet and then doing a 180 turn (basically AROUND the planet). If done correctly, you'll end up shortly behind the planet, but in a direct path to the station with a speed slow enough to get there following the rule of 6 again for that part. Since you basically flew the last few Ls with full speed, you'll be much faster overall than slowing down at 6 with a standard approach. But as I wrote: it takes a LOT of practice to get that one right... "right" meaning not only that you don't hit the exclusion/orbit zone (the yellow circle line) and crash out of super cruise with damage, but also that you actually save time. If you are not close enough to the exclusion zone, the time advantage shrinks quite a bit, since then it's really overshooting again (depending on how close you came, in the end you can still be a little bit faster - or even slower than using the standard approach with the "rule of 6").
Having said that - it's a fun maneuver to do for sure anyways (the adrenaline rush you get from that is quite nice :-D ;-) )!
PS: It's normally not worth doing (at least not for the time advantage, for the "get rid of your bounty hunter" it might still be useful) if the planet in question is already quite close (I would say less than 50 Ls away).
@@IgorRockt thx for reply, I will try to do that and practice :)
Good god that training mission where you fly a Viper against a missile spamming Cobra was absolute cancer
Yamiks i love these collabs so much!! Thanks for getting everyone together!
'The joy, of _six_' ;)
Personally, rule #6 as defined here can be a bit dodgy and depending on your velocity and distance it can be tricky or impossible to maintain. I find that shooting for between 7-10 seconds will always ensure a quick, error-less arrival to your destination. Building on that, when approaching a planet's atmosphere you should increase the ETA even further and decrease your angle of attack in proportion to the planet's gravitational strength, typically 10-12 seconds with an AoA of 10-15 degrees will do the trick for most massive planets while using a huge ship like the Anaconda or Federal Corvette. That's all for this comment, fly safe commanders!
I broke rule #1 once right after buying a type 9 lol. After sinking all my money on upgrades and setting out for my first medicine delivery, I was set upon by a pirate that shot out my thrusters and blew me up. Lost everything and had to start over back with a sidewinder lol.
Rule number 1 is never attack a fuel rat
this video is enough to make me start playing elite again....excellent job
Plotting route in station makes sense, but I suggest not targeting your next jump prior to leaving the station or planet. Reason is that every time you don't have a clear path to the jump (ie it's behind a planet or something) you can't jump or even get into supercruise, so then you have to go into your menus anyways to target some other thing, get into supercruise, then do the jump.
Wish This video come out 3 year earlier when I only have my sidewinder.
That means at least the rebuy was free
props to 6, that was very well done lol
