    • @sciencenotstigma9534
      @sciencenotstigma9534 Год назад +29

      It’s not at all unusual in the Southern US. It’s like dress-up and charm school, plus dance, gymnastics, voice and other talent development. Charm school is a bit antiquated, but all of those aspects of pageants are quite innocent. I had a child in dance and modeling contests (judged at the same time, based on headshots or portfolio pictures). I drove and attended 20-60 hours a week for years and NEVER saw anyone attend dance comps, besides the participants’ parents. Anywhere we traveled, literally no one else attended them. I was in pageants, as a little kid. Same thing. Competitive cheerleading is another story, because the comps are pretty fantastic and some teams represent their schools, including high schools where some students are old enough to drive themselves to friends’ events. There are adult All Star teams. School and competition teams perform at halftime, so everyone who sees the game sees the cheerleaders. My child was performing on a Mini team, at age 5. Cheer is far more public than pageants. I would bet money that only the family and other pageant kids and moms saw JonBenet’s glamour pageant photos, when she was on this earth.

    • @sciencenotstigma9534
      @sciencenotstigma9534 Год назад

      @@BettyJane2023. Honestly, it’s so rare for anyone to go to pageants, besides moms and maybe grandparents of the entrants. I was a dance mom, but in pageants as a kid. The parents are typically very familiar with each other and often know each other well, traveling together and going to the same coaches, studios and events. You may not know anyone at Nationals, except the moms at your studio, but I’ve rarely seen a man attend and, not to be stereotypical, but most of the male judges I met are gay. Parents almost always stay for every minute of a child’s training and when I say parents, I mean moms and grandmas. In the event that a stranger wandered in (literally never seen it), the parents make sure not to let kids out of our sight! These are dedicated parents, highly invested in keeping our kids out of trouble and In activities they enjoy and grow through. We pay far more than a house payment, to do it. I never took my kids door to door, fundraising for their teams or activities. I came up with novel fundraising ideas and sold things at their studios and schools and moms traded cleaning, hairdressing, and other services. Many worked at their kids’ studio, for a discount on lessons. Only one of my kids was in dance and modeling, the one who was interested. My other child did math and science projects and camps. My dancer was also in cheer, which is far more public. The pageants my friends and I were in, as kids, were typically held in a private hall or closed gymnasium or theater. It’s doubtful many people even knew JonBenet was in pageants, besides other participants and their moms. The kids’ addresses and hometowns are not on the program, or available to the public. Many parents drive to another town and other states, for pageants. Some stay within their state, but not usually their city or town, for pageants or even training. I won scholarships and drove my child up to 60 miles, to lessons, on scholarship. The only reason the world knows about JonBenet’s pageant hobby is because she was murdered. Great pains are taken to simulate a real mainstage experience, but it’s really not. My husband never attended a dance comp or modeling contest…men in attendance is rare.

    They kept saying he was obsessed with JonBenet but they didn’t say if he showed that before she was killed or after. How did he know her, did he see her somewhere because he says he loved her. How did he get in? What was the purpose of the ransom note? Had he ever written a ransom note in his other crimes? He said she fell but doesn’t mention the garrotte. Was he in the house before the family came home? How did he know the amount stated in the ransom note was almost the same as John’s bonus? How did he keep her quiet? Did he give her the pineapple that was unexplained? Where in the note and his letters did the handwriting samples get taken from for reference? Was his DNA actually checked and cleared? Was he the one who left the glove behind?

      @@kimberlykreisel250 What if both girls had been involved in cheerleading instead, at 6 years old? Cheerleading outfits are more immodest than the pageant dresses little girls wear. Also pageant girls learn poise, cheerleaders, even the younger girls, learn how to shake their booty and dance in front of mixed crowds of people in parades and sporting events. (I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with children dancing, I’m just making a point in comparison)! Some parents put their children in competitive dancing, where they’re taught to dance like adults do, the rumba and things like that. The girls, some as young as 5 when they start out, wear a lot of makeup and most of their outfits are quite revealing, even for the older girls that have started developing….The boys, their dance partners, dress more modestly….I’m not criticizing their parents for that, but we can’t act like those pageants for children are the worst things parents can put their daughters in. In comparison:
      Cheerleading
      Adult style dancing for children
      Gymnastics
      Even going to the beach
      Every one of those put even little girls in immodest clothing. Normal people like us know little girls are innocent and we shouldn’t have to worry about bringing them to a beach, or enrolling them in gymnastics, dancing, or cheerleading, but all those things attract a lot of people and not all of those people are nice people with good intentions. I hardly ever hear people criticize how cheerleaders, or female gymnasts dress, no matter what age group they’re in, even the ones in the same age group Jon Benet was. So how are beauty pageants so much worse than all those other things?

I know there are mothers who might do this quite innocently, but the world is full of far from innocent men (and women) who would do serious harm for their own ends or financial gain. What an insensitive thing to say. Was anything you shared helpful in finding the murderer, or was it just satisfying for you to imply it’s the mother’s “fault” that she exposed her daughter to pedophiles or murderers? Young prodigies in any form where they have a wide public audience can fall victim to the viciousness of warped minds. By all accounts Jon Benet enjoyed competition in these events and was never forced to engage. Just because it’s not your world of experiences does not mean those who enjoy pageants shouldn’t be able to seek happiness and passion in expressing themselves the way the Ramsay’s did.

      I researched this a lot, years ago! The man in video is being framed!
      Most likely the Ramsey’s nine year old brother brought Jon Bennet to basement and then hit her on head with something to silence her, accidentally or purposefully killing her, and then most likely parents covered up for their son. They didn’t want to loose both children and their reputation and possible go to jail themselves! I am sure many people warned the parents not to do such evil to their own daughter!
      Dressing any little (or any age girl) up like this, will lead to serious harm for that girl and for the perpetrators mind, and for all people. All girls become targets of abuse and all men are being tempted to do evil, and most all people are tempted to accept immoral behavior when our society accepts this evil!
      Poor Jon Bennet was used as a prostitute from age 4-6years by wicked parents! I believe God took her early to spare her of a most wicked life, while parents posed as Christian, when they were really covertly following Satan!

If Burke had killed Jon Bonet, John and Patsy would have known and John would not have been pushing for the Boulder Police Department to work harder to solve the case if he knew it would lead to his only remaining close family member, Burke.
      I’m convinced it was Gary Oliva. There were reasons to believe he’d been in the Ramsey house before, and he’d have known the lay-out of the house, so had access to note pads and pens. I think he planned the murder Mark Vail said his former schoolmate Gary Oliva had some crazy obsession about art supplies and ropes. Many of his drawings in school were of nooses, and knots. Look at the items used to murder Jon Benet. The paintbrush was from Patsys art supply collection and he’d have found that easily in the house…He’d have had time to write that long note, and could have written it even before he killed Jon Bonet, then left the house quickly after killing her, leaving her parents to find the note. He was trying to lead them in a wrong direction. I’m convinced it was Gary Oliva.

    I wonder how many people know about Glenn Meyer. He was a tenant of the Barnhill's, the elderly couple that lived across the street from the Ramseys. The Barnhills took care of the JonBenet's dog and had a key to their front door so they could get their mail when they were out of town. Glen Meyer was living in the Barnhill's basement unbeknownst to the Ramseys. JonBenet would visit the Barnhills and play with her dog frequently. He is the man that crashed the Ramsey's Dec 23rd Christmas party saying he was worried about the elderly couple and had come to check on them. I think he came over for a couple reasons, jealousy that he wasn't invited and to tell JoBenet she was getting a secret visit from Santa Claus. That was the first time John became aware of his presence. Glen Meyer was laying low because he had some financial issues that he was hiding out from. There is a LOT MORE information about him but I will try to keep it short . He had access to the Ramsey home because of the (Barnhill's) key and knew the Ramsey's schedule well through the Barnhill's association. I think he entered the Ramsey home many times when they were away and lorded over the place, pretending it was his. He knew it well, he knew all about the bonus, he knew where JonBenet sleep and I even think he was in the house hiding many times when the Ramseys were home, It was like living in a different world from his own which was a bleak existence living in someone's basement. I think he was really envious of John and all his success not only great financial success but his beautiful family too. So he struck at the most vulnerable part of his wonderful life, just to knock him down a peg or two. The ransom note was addressed to Mr. Ramsey for a reason, he knew about the $118,000 bonus because he read John's mail, with Glenn being unstable it probably really set him off.
    John's Christmas bonus was from the year before so it showed up on John’s paycheck every month in 1996.
    I was watching an old movie one night and there was a kidnapping in it and when the ransom note was read I thought "this sounds familiar" It sounded very much like the one left at the Ramsy's almost to a T and I wondered what old movies would have been on TV that week in Boulder. I'd also like to point out Glenn couldn't" take JonBenet he had nowhere to take her, living in the Barnhill's basement.
    One last thing, years after JonBenet's death there was an elderly lady in her 80's that lived a few doors down from the Ramseys that made a death bed confession that she had seen Glenn Meyer on the night of the murder walking away from the Ramsey home. She had been too afraid to come forward before, because Glenn was known to be a violent man and was characterized as being unstable.
    This is just an opinion of some very knowledgeable interested citizens. You're welcome to ask questions.

I remember a time when people didn’t lock their doors like they do now, even in the 80’s and 90’s some people still did that…..Patsy was featured in the society pages of the newspaper fairly often, her husband was a wealthy businessman, and she was known in social circles as an artist. Plus Jon Benet was featured for winning pageants. Gary Oliva who is now a suspect had an obsession with art supplies, namely paint brushes, AND tying knots in rope. (The Garrote used to strangle the little girl?) His former schoolmate who went to art classes with him, remembered he was weird about his obsessions…,Gary reached out to him crying, the next day, saying he’d killed a little girl. That was before the former schoolmate even knew there’d been a murder. He reported it, but nothing ever came of it.
      Police now suspect Oliva had been in the house several times before the day Jon Benet was murdered. He’d have known the maids day off, the family’s schedules, where all the art supplies, ropes or cords would have been, also notepads and pens. And I believe he probably found the check stub for the bonus check John had gotten. That’s how he’d have known to put that exact amount on the “ransom note”. There is WAY more evidence against Oliva than against anyone else. And to think the Boulder police department were given Oliva’s name right away, but they quickly released him, and didn’t consider him a suspect, even though the guy he confessed to said he did not want to be involved, but Oliva forced him to
      be involved, by confessing to him. Gary Oliva was a loner at school but the classmate had treated him nicely, and that’s why he believes Gary reached out to him, instead of someone else. I truly believe that Gary Oliva killed Jon Benet and even fits the profile of what a sexual deviant would be like. When they caught up to him he was serving time for child pornography. But what he’d done to sweet 6 year old Jon-Benet and her family was even much worse than pornography, even though that’s perverted and disgusting, it’s just that he got away with murder for almost 30 years, that is, until now,
      hopefully! 🙏🏻

    The man named Michael Vail said his former classmate Gary Oliva called him right after Jon Benet was murdered, a day or two later, sounding upset saying he had killed a little girl. At the time Michael didn’t know about the incident . But when he heard about the murder and the way Jon Benet had been killed, he remembered that Oliva had had a fascination with art supplies and ropes. Many of his paintings and drawings at school were of nooses, and knots.
    There were also reasons to believe he’d been in the house before, and had learned the family’s schedules so knew when the house would be empty. If that happened he’d have known the layout of the home and would have known where pens and notepads were, and could have written the so called “ransom note” before the family arrived home. He could have planned the whole thing, and had the note ready to leave for them to find. Most likely to steer them in the wrong direction….Since the Ramseys were well known in their community they were often in the papers. The art brush used in the murder was from Patsys collection of art supplies. He got some kind of perverted pleasure from using something he loved to murder an innocent child.
    That’s what these sicko’s are like!
    Oliva is now in prison on unrelated charges of pornography, but I believe the Boulder police department completely dropped the ball and botched everything from the start. Otherwise Oliva would be in prison for life with no possibility of parole.
    Vail, who says he never wanted to be involved, has been forced into it by Oliva. I believe Gary Oliva is guilty of killing Jon Benet, and her family members are innocent of this horrific crime.

Maybe he planned to molest her, or maybe even actually kidnap her, but she started screaming or tried to escape and that’s when he panicked and killed her. He may have felt guilty and had to tell someone, and that’s why he called Michael, who said he reported it to police but even with the confession, they let Gary go as a suspect. I believe they were so sure it was a family member, even though there was DNA in the basement that didn’t belong to any of the Ramseys, that they didn’t
      consider it may not have been the Ramseys at all. I think Gary Oliva is a viable suspect, judging from everything I’ve heard or read. I can't begin to imagine my chaotic state of mind, looking for my missing child. I'd make mistakes too. This man did it, the story of him doing it makes sense. Lay off blaming the family, people, they have endured so, so, so much pain without your help. ✌as for the handwriting...it's nearly identical. It's somewhat chaotic (leaning in various directions), the small A's are the same (not many people write their A's like that), and that note left at the Ramsey's was written in a state of mind so it's a bit sloppier and hurried, but there is no doubt in my mind they are both written by the same person.
