@courtv THANK YOU for covering this story as so many media networks are scared off by Scn which is now an impotent org full of empty threats. There’s SERIOUS ongoing crimes occurring primarily in Clearwater & LA, including trafficking of minors, Abuse & SA of minors, labor/sex trafficking of minors & adults, AS WELL AS elder abuse, coerced abortions (still ongoing), forced detention, predator protection, & family disconnection/shunning, and fraud/scams & monetary crimes which are well known.
This is a HORIIBLE traumatic & pain inducing org that practices mind control/hypnosis & brainwashing and no one entering or signing a contract knows what they’re signing up for…
It’s TIME THE COURT STEPS IN AND DOES SOMETHING to help provide relief to victims/former members of Scientology bc the things they’re doing/practicing are illegal… and we have religious freedom here in the USA but that doesn’t allow illegal, abusive, & HARMFUL actions to be committed against members- whether the court think they signed up for it or not. These ppl have been treated horribly by our courts and dismissed bc it claims interpretation of scripture is needed. But when kids are being internationally trafficked and sign contracts at age 11 then are exposed to many disgusting & harmful things & forced to do them… it doesn’t make it right - whether done in a church building or not.
Thanks @courttv & thanks for interviewing ppl from SPTV, we need to raise awareness of this horrible cult and help ppl join together to demand a change and end to Scn tax exempt status.
More media reporting must be done, please follow this story!! And *PLEASE REPORT ON/follow* SEVERAL OTHER cases/lawsuits against Scn. Currently in the courts.
Thanks again!! Pls keep going & digging deeper! @sergedelmar Serge Del mad is another GREAT resource for examining the systematic/organized trafficking & crimes against minors in the church.

She has years of documentation, and I am sure live coverage of private investigators stalking her, etc. In addition to other former members who themselves have admitted to doing certain things. David better just rap it up and pack it up. What goes around comes around. It's disgusting how long it has taken for these cults to be STOPPED AND EXPOSED. I truly hope Shelly is alive and that children are taken by social services. This CULT is abusive and has done inhumane things to people. The Jehovah's Witness leadership is just as insane and inhumane as Scientology. This must stop. Many lives have been lost by the hands of these criminals. The government needs to take away their charitable status. No more TAX EXEMPTION!!!!!

In the early 90s when I was in my late 30s, I moved to a new town and somehow was invited to a free seminar. I sat through the seminar on auditing (and the cost of the various steps/levels) and immediately thought “This is a massive scam.” When the seminar was over, I looked around the room expecting to see others having a similar reaction, but was surprised to see people go up to the two seminar providers to excitedly ask them questions. (I guess that a lot of people with money to burn aren’t happy with themselves and don’t know who they are.) Scientology was never mentioned, but they gave everyone a book about Ron L. Hubbard and dianetics. I decided to read the book to learn more about them, but it was so bizarre that I dropped it in the trash. It was a few years late that I realised I’d had a brush with Scientology. How anyone believes this BS is beyond me.

This is such perfect timing for her to file a lawsuit against Scientology. She's got videos of the people they've sent after her since they've been harassing her for over a decade and NOW, with Trump being indicted by Fulton County Georgia, the whole racketeering thing is in the spotlight so any action Scientology takes to interfere with the judge and jury like they usually do will go badly for them. The only reason they have 501c status is because when the IRS investigated them they harassed everyone to the point they didn't want to deal with it anymore, then filled the IRS up with Scientologists. They need to lose their 501c status as they ARE a for-profit business. Once Leah wins her lawsuit, everyone else they've harassed will have an open lane to sue them for all the damage they've done to people.

I’ve gotten kicked out three times. Once for noting that the timeline they present has Hubbard in more than one place at the same time, once for questioning why the speaker referred to Hubbard as “the father of modern psychology” when Scientology is very much opposed to modern psychology, and once for pointing out out that the “e-meter” was pretty much a lie detector, as it shares the same electrical schematic.

Fifty years ago in Boston I dodged a bullet. I had never heard of Scientology and was in need of work. A woman I met on the street brought me into a large building in downtown Boston, where she told me I could get a job. As I sat on a chair in the lobby, I watched what looked like zombies, leaving and entering the building with these vacant stares in their eyes. The ‘job’ as it was described would include room and board but, incredulously, we would be working like 12 hours a day, 6 days a week! When I did not appear interested, I then was brought to sit in front of a desk across from a man with the most dead-eyed serious stare who asked me ‘didn’t I want to benefit from all Scientology had to offer? Why not?’ Though rather reserved back then, I told him absolutely not and got up and left the building. Haunting experience!!

No, that's incorrect. While I agree with the 2nd half of your statement, I don't agree with the 1st. It IS the freedom OF religion. Any religion you want, or none, if that is your preference. However, others have the same rights as you do, which is the reason it is not freedom FROM religion. Allowing others to practice their religion freely means that within the public sector you will inevitably run across aspects of many religions. You are certainly free to ignore it, but it is not a violation of your own rights for you to see it.

@@AlAmantea Actually it reveals the catch-22 in the whole American conception of "religious freedom." "Any religion you want, or none, but others have the same rights as you." Why is that ALWAYS a problem in practice? Because religion claims to speak for/answer to a higher authority than that of the govt. Therefore religious people only respect concepts of law and rights etc that they feel jibe with their own religious views - or they seek to make the law reflect their own religious views, freedom be damned. It's why we always have to hear "America is a Christian nation." It's why we have a far-right SCOTUS that is now imposing evangelical Christianity on the nation as a whole.

I was down with the "survey" and discovering more about myself. But when they wanted $20 for me to join? NOPE. OH, and I was 18. This was 1982!!
They wanted an 18 year old girl after she just graduated from high school to commit to $20 a month (which didn't include auditing, tapes, cassettes, etc.)
$20 a month back then? Was like paying $300 a month today! At 18????
Yup. No brainer. I immediately saw it as a money making scheme %100. I scoffed at them inside the center! I told them straight to their faces that even though I was 18, I wasn't baby stupid 😂.
    It's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY

Yep. My mother remembers thinking why her best friend didn't try to convince her to join. The friend, who had already joined before my mom knew about it (because when there's something new and wonderful in your life you just want to hide it 🙄) I don't know how she got involved exactly but this was when no one knew really what it was and only John Travolta's name made it famous. I mean if it was okay with Vinnie Barbarino, okay with the star of Saturday night fever... How could it be bad, right?🙄
But the friend was a hustler for them she was always good at sales, being convincing and persuasive. My mom used to wonder why she never tried to recruit her, although she did bring my mother to the Celebrity Centre in LA, once, (my mom was hoping to get a glimpse of Travolta, LOL)
She finally figured out that it was because she didn't have a pot to plant flowers in, engaged to a poor law student!
I'm surprised they haven't been busted long ago. And the current leaders wife is still missing???

Good for you. Kids see right through it. Many many 2 generation people are the only ones left now since it’s hard to get new people. And many 2nd Generation people are defecting now too. Could you imagine the resentment they have towards their parents? Sadly, it typically means they lose their parents because the cult pressures them to disconnect.

My mother in her rebellion fled the Catholic Church and took us on an epic adventure searching for god in every church you can imagine. I have been baptized in a fountain, a swimming pool, a river, a bathtub, a living room... My take away (even as a kid) is they are all cults, and all the same. It is a big mind game. I believe in the right to practice what ever "religion" that moves you but I don't think religion should be tax exempt, have its own internal judicial system, and kids should be protected.

Your whole history explained to morons in the most popular book is questionned in your country. States banning literature. Large scale brainwashing covering religious brainwashing.

Living your best life in Scientology involves receiving ongoing significant physical and emotional abuse, total loss of personal freedom including lengthy and false imprisonment, loss of personal finances leading to significant debt, having to participate in unethical cult practices, mafia-like prevention from leaving the cult, prevention from receiving medical treatment or surgery for serious health issues, constant stalking and spy reporting even by family members and neighbors, public and legal communication of false and defamatory statements made to the community along with personal abusive and punitive harassment directed by the cult leadership for any perceived noncompliance with cult rules.

I can explain his BS excuse if you would like but it’s also just nonsensical fiction

I'm glad you're talking about this cult, Vinny. It disgusts me that this pseudo church gets away with so many things and authorities turn a blind eye on them and never investigates o prosecutes them. How is it possible that they protected a rapist and harassed the victims. How can a woman suddenly vanish and the police won't even show the video recorded with their cams when they went to check on her and her well-being. How can Tom Cruise be praised everywhere and in every interview and nobody asks him about Shelly and all the abuses of the church he promotes. It makes him complicit. What is clear to me is that such cult have people everywhere, including authorities and they will keep getting away with everything they please to do.

Tom Cruise also has Sea Org members assigned to work for him as his staff. He's benefitting daily from virtual slave labor. I despise him almost as much as his bestie Dave. The reason no journalists will call him out in interviews is that he will blacklist any organization that does so and no one wants to lose their access. It's gross, though the Hollywood press is all about access and money and expecting ethics from them will just lead to disappointment.

It makes me so mad that giant entities like these can sue individual people, bleed them dry of time and money making them respond to lawsuits. I'm a litigator myself who defends public entities. My firm has a ton of resources and my clients can pay what it takes to defend against a lawsuit. But even I bristle at the fees they have to pay to defend lawsuits. I'm not talking about the merits of the cases. I'm talking about just the sheer cost and how the numbers can be staggering after the filings and experts and investigation. I can't imagine an individual regular middle class person having to defend against any lawsuit, and my guess is 9 out of 10 or more of the lawsuits Scientology files against former members are utterly meritless and subject to sanctions. But to even get there, you have to expend your time and energy and that's so unfair. Good for Leah. She's still going up against Goliath, but at least she has more money than the average former member turned defendant.
