  • Here I will show how removing the locking magnet from the lid of the washer is an easy way to bypass the lid lock function to diagnose any problems a Haier-made GE washer may be experiencing. While I do not recommend operating the washer regularly with the li open, when trying to diagnose problems, it is much easier when you are able to see what is going on within the washer.

Yes, you are able to deactivate the lid lock on the GE GTW465ASNWW washing machine. To do this, follow these steps: 1.
Press the "Power" button to turn off the washing machine. 2. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. 3. Wait for at least 4 minutes for the lid lock to reset. 4.
Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet. 5. Press the "Power" button to turn on the washing machine. 6. The lid lock should now be deactivated, and you can open the lid while the wash cycle is in progress.

Do you think cuting out a gap from the bottom of the strike so that it could be secured to the lid but always able to allow the lid to be opened. This way the spin would also stop just like the older machines when the lid is opened. I have no idea how the latch lock communicates with the computer control, but maybe just creating a gap wide enough to create enough of a void to clear the locking pin might be a solution to this aggravating issue.

You can take a cylindrical magnet and rest it at a diagonal angle with the left end of the magnet in the corner of the switch and the right end of the magnet on top of the switch's right side. That way it should not fall into the washer.

Yes, it does still, but since the switch is taken out of the lid, the lid can be up with the magnet in the switch so the washer thinks the lid is down.
