I checked my lid lock with the lid closed and when i put the leads on the wires the numbers started at 72 then went down to 0.0 or 1. When i tested the lid lock with the lid open numbers appeared too, i think, i cant remember. You said with the lid closed it should be 90. Do you think my lid lock might be faulty?
My washer keeps clicking and won't spin or drain. Tub is full of water. I think its the lid lock but not certain. I had a pair of tennis shoes in the wash that caused it to shake washer away from the wall as it was not balanced. Have any suggestions or recommendations?

So we got the new latch lock that was specified for the model of my GE washer and it did not work nor did it match the parts specified on the QR code on the washer itself. Sent that part back, ordered another and after installation, it finally allowed the washer to fill, and then it stops as the lid lock is still not working. Help!
@DuctTapeMechanic my Kenmore series 200 won't start. I unplugged it and tried to start it. It clicked a couple of times then it goes to lid lock. Is this the same issue? How can I fix it?

I have the same issue and just replaced the lid lock if I put it on drain ans spin it locks and runs fine but on any other cycle it will fill and then drain do you think the new part I got may be faulty? Or another issue?
My GE Profile washer says Lid and it will not do anything. It wasn't off balance. I had just washed a load. Do you think I need to replace the Lid thing?

New lid lock for 6 year old while pool. Striker won't come back out of the switch unless I press the tiny white button with a pin. Both on the machine and out.
Do not try to bypass the lid switch it will most likely burn your control board. Unlike the old school washers, these are not just switches but also have a solenoid which locks the lid.
My washer will not start at all, but the lights will light up and the lid lock will click a couple times then stop. Then you hear the sound indicating a wash cycle is finished. All this but the machine will not start a cycle. Does this sound like a bad lid lock or something else?
my GTW330ASK4WW is not filling up and won't successfully spin to drain out the water. i've reset the lid after unplugging it... and it worked for 1 load but now it's not working. the lid is locking though when i put it into spin. would this be an issue with the lid lock mechanism even though it's locking?
@DuctTapeMechanic thanks for the reply. It just blows my mind that they make these lid locks mandatory on all new washers. I just don't see the need for a lid lock on a top load washer.

If it is a model similar to this one then I think it is not the lid lock other wise it probably would not wash at all. Without actually being there, I would say there is an issue with the mode shifter.
Worked for me! Great step by step directions. Many thanks
Awesome! Glad to help!
My washing machine is making loud noise. I follow directions and changing the rear and the I don’t remember what it was that I change underneath of the transmission but it’s still making the noise. There was no debris underneath of it. Wanted to know what’s the next step that I need to stop it from making so much noise Sound like it’s coming from the transmission valve noise
I would look at the clutch/actuator assembly all parts combined are like $80
So we got the new latch lock that was specified for the model of my GE washer and it did not work nor did it match the parts specified on the QR code on the washer itself. Sent that part back, ordered another and after installation, it finally allowed the washer to fill, and then it stops as the lid lock is still not working. Help!
I’m reading about 90ohms when the lid is closed. But when I open it, it briefly goes to OL, then reads about 112ohms?
My ge gtw465asn3ww threw a belt during cycle. I changed lid switch and replaced belt, machine has power but will not start. Any suggestions?
Hi, I am trying to fix my washer. Which tool did you use to take out the screw on the interior once you took off the back panel?
You can get it at home.depo
Will you make a video on showing how to run the service mod and how to install a new timer please
Can you post another link to this part? The link currently attached no longer works.
@DuctTapeMechanic my Kenmore series 200 won't start. I unplugged it and tried to start it. It clicked a couple of times then it goes to lid lock. Is this the same issue? How can I fix it?
I just.bought a lid lock and the washer started working but now I can’t get it to unlock. I tried resetting and no luck. Any suggestions?
What is the cause if you replace it and it clicks or doesn’t open whenever the cycle finishes?
I replaced that part, and reconnected everything but the lid lock light is still on. The lid is up but nothing different happens now. I've unplugged it and still nothing.
Thank you sir, your video has been very helpful
Can you just disconnect and not have the lid lock at all?
Thank you!! My switch did not fit well and had to sand the edges but otherwise your video helped a lot
Awesome! Great job on the repair!
I have the same washer. It will fill but nothing else. After a few minutes it drains on its own. Is the lid lock most likely the issue?
im having the same issue. was it the lid lock
Hi. Did you have success with lid lock replacement? Thank you
I have the same issue and just replaced the lid lock if I put it on drain ans spin it locks and runs fine but on any other cycle it will fill and then drain do you think the new part I got may be faulty? Or another issue?
My GE Profile washer says Lid and it will not do anything. It wasn't off balance. I had just washed a load. Do you think I need to replace the Lid thing?
Most likely it does seem like an issue with the lid lock
If the wash shuts down while washing a load of clothes and the lid will not unlock could that be locking switch,
I got the same washing machine, would you happen to have the part number for it thank you in advance
Hi. The part is linked in the description
My man just watched this video for 1 min and took 15 seconds to pop out the lid lock without taking the whole top off. A ton of extra steps in this video. Lid lock had tabs underneath and pops right out.
New lid lock for 6 year old while pool.
Striker won't come back out of the switch unless I press the tiny white button with a pin. Both on the machine and out.
You can change it without taking the lid off. I do it all the time.
Yes I know the way you are speaking of. I always scratch up my arm when doing it that way, so I wanted to provide another perspective.
This video would be 2 minutes actual running time if done the quick way.
Ok so how would I wire it so I never have to have a lock again?
i have one of these washers that it just broke the lid lock. i wonder if theres a way you can just bypass it. i only saw 3 wires going to it
Do not try to bypass the lid switch it will most likely burn your control board.
Did you figure it out? Mine is doing this exactly now.
Is the lid supposed to lock before it fills up?
I replaced the broken lid switch for a friend and it will not go into spin on the drain and spin. It drains the water then shuts off.
I have the same washer and it’s fills but won’t cycle, then it starts to make a clicking sounds on the top right corner! Is it the lid lock?
Sure sounds like it!
@@DuctTapeMechanic ok thank you
I have one but it goes off when I push the start button. It only works on the bulky load cycle. What can be wrong with it.
I replacement my lid switch on my whirlpool washing machine but it still having a f7e5 error code how to fix
Can I bypass the lock
Not on this model
my GTW330ASK4WW is not filling up and won't successfully spin to drain out the water. i've reset the lid after unplugging it... and it worked for 1 load but now it's not working. the lid is locking though when i put it into spin. would this be an issue with the lid lock mechanism even though it's locking?
Mine did the same thing 6 months ago, I replaced the water pump underneath the washer simple to do.
Mine is doing the same thing! Did you find out what was wrong with yours?
Seriously freaking out man. Overnighted an original GE lid lock, replaced and it is still just doing the same thing.
Have you tried sending it into diagnostics it could be the pump?
Can we cross connect the wires so latch doesn't lock but washer always works
No. You will damage the board
@@DuctTapeMechanic I was afraid of that. Can you update the link for the latch? I couldn't get it to work.
I ordered that part and the plug fit but it will not sit in that part that holds the switch it’s too big on one end
Is there a way you can just bypass the switch all together by cutting wires or something?
No bypassing the lid switch on this one because it is a lid switch and a lid lock
@DuctTapeMechanic thanks for the reply. It just blows my mind that they make these lid locks mandatory on all new washers. I just don't see the need for a lid lock on a top load washer.
How can I get ahold of you to ask you a quick question about this??
the amazon link is broken, but this one comes with a black cord LID LOCK & HARNESS
WH08X32657
what would I do with the cord?

great video. The guy shows you how to do it.
Thanks for watching!
We appreciate for your Diy . More video 📹 ✨️
I have a GE GTW330ASK3WW washer, and the locking mechanism is clicking 3-4 times, and won’t start any cycle.
I’ve tried leaving unplugged for several minutes. Doesn’t work.
I’ve tried doing that again on top of turning the circuit breaker off, and then back on. Doesn’t work.
What is happening? It’s causing my family and I to argue against each other.
Sounds like a bad locking mechanism
This is my issue and im just waiting on the part now. 🤞 . Im ready fo wash at my own house 😢
Best of luck!
@@DuctTapeMechanic I want to really thank you. Honestly. I watched other videos and they didn't get into the actual problems like you did. I was out of a washer for 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong based off other videos. I legit watched your video Wednesday of this week. Ordered the part the same day and just got it a few minutes ago and let's just say I'm back washing again 🥳🥳🥳thanks again🙌🙌
@teaashagood1169 that's so awesome to hear! Made my day!
Where did you post the link for the replacement?
I just posted the link in the description. I guess I forgot originally
I caused this problem for myself by forcing the kid open when I wanted to dry my clothes
Can you make it work without replacing the lock & disconnecting both sides of the wires?
This is what I want to know it's just three wires going in which completes the circuit what do you have to do to just have it know it's locked and closed bypass this entire thing made of junk and poorly injected molded plastic. I did a load of laundry and it clicks open and the little piece of plastic comes flying out now won't run cuz the circuit won't close. Mine doesn't even have the plug it goes right into the lock mechanism. Tell you I would take a washer that's 30 yrs old over any new one all junk.
Great question!
Thanks, great video
You're welcome!
My want start are the lights want come on and it makes a loud noise can u help me thanks
Loud noise during the spin cycle?
I replaced the lid lock. It clicks but the pin won't retract to allow you to open the lid. Any ideas? Thank you?
On my GE model I actually just unscrewed and removed the part that is on the lid. Then I just left it pushed into the assembly so the machine 'thought' the lid was locked when it really wasn't. Not all brands/models have the top thing that can be removed though.
Great job man
Thank you!
Thanks for the diy big help to us
Thanks for watching!
Thanks much I love this video ❤❤❤❤
Your welcome!
