Same thing here. Two repair calls and he said the machine is crap. Supposed to be energy efficient by using less water but since it doesn't spin evenly, I have to spend a fortune drying wet clothes. What used to be one load, now has to be multiple small loads because it can't handle combining fabric of different weight. Amazing how this machine was ever given the green light to go into production. My previous machine was great and more affordable to use, so this was a GE fail for me. 😢😢😢
I watched this video several times over in hopes that I could find my problem. And I did. It was my water pump that had one of my wife’s socks sucked into the damn thing. After it was taken out everything started working back to normal again. So to help a lot of you out there, if your having the same issue as mine, check your water pump. More then likely you have something sucked in there and that’ll be the cause and effect of your problems. Not only that but it would save you a lot of money on having some tech guy come out and charge you $100 just to look at it.
We have an exact washer.....same brand, same model. A few weeks ago it started getting out of balance when about to start the spin cycle. I replaced the lock switch mechanism, i replaced the suspension rods but the problem still continue. The way I fixed the issue was by tipping the washer on one side so I could have access to the bottom section. There you will find a motor cover. I removed it noticed right away grease on the pulleys and on the belt. I removed the two pulleys and the belt. I cleaned them real well and then I put them back. That took of the out of balance issue we kept having for a long time. It seems that grease that was put on the pulleys shafts during assembly started to run and it made its way ro the belt. If you have grease on your belt the speed sensor (under one of the pulleys) will sense some slippage and think the wash is out of balance and stop. So give it a try and clean those 3 parts.
I believe that by cleaning the belt, and maybe finding something in the pressure sensor tube on my washer, I fixed it..so far 3 good washes. Don't want to get too cocky yet, but it seems like your advise , this site and some other info I found saved my washer. If anyone else has the issue that it won't spin out try all this stated above. Btw, the pressure hose is connected to the side of the tank . I had to reach half way up to un hook it. I took a small wire and poked in the nipple sticking out of the tank (I knew the hose was clear, I had tested it earlier) , and It had something small in it...so I feel the combination of all the advice above and actually doing that...good to go...Thanks
Thanks so much for this infomation! This was exactly the problem. We had been into it and knew the rods were ok and the lock switch was working. I didn't want to pay a repairman, the machine is just 2 years old. Thanks again!

Holding the Start/Pause button and spinning the dial is KEY! I balanced the load but it wouldn't start working again until I did that. (Thanks for the video!)
I have a similar model GE washer repeatedly having unbalance issue resulting in failure to spin. GE tech came twice and insisted the problem was due to improper loading of machine. I discovered that the speed sensor on the transmision tigers an unbalance fault if speed does not reach set point. The unbalance fault prevents the spin cycle from continuing. I found oil on the belt, transmission and motor pulleys. The belt slipping prevented the speed from reaching set point causing unbalance fault. I cleaned oil from pulleys and replaced belt. This resolved the problem. Hope this helps.
Dwyane Dandridge did you ever find out your washer spin problem? Mine is doing the same thing and the repairman cannot fix problem. Any information will help. Thank you
I have a GE Washer model GTW330ASK0WW and you were right about the drive belt having Grease or oil on it and causing my machine to not spin correctly and getting out of balance. I cleaned the belt off and the machine started spinning at high speed again without getting out of balance. Thank you for the help!
Thank you for your comments, this worked great and we didn’t even have to replace the belt yet. Just cleaned off all the oil. We were having intermittent spinning and usually not working on larger loads. Code was just saying error.
Thanks for the tip about the service manual taped under the washer - this certainly helped me understand better what was going on with my washer...now whether or not I can fix it is an open question.
We have the exact same washer. We have had many problems with this washer. 1. While on wash cycle water would be draining and when the spin cycle came on there was no water to drain. Fix: Drain hose too far in the wall. Repositioned the hose up some and used a cable tie to keep hose in place. 2. In spin cycle the washer would vibrate excessively. Fix: had to get retrofit parts installed around tub and new feet. 3. After spin cycle clothes are still soaking wet. Fix: Replace control board.
Omg thank you! Going to try this later! It did this to me a week ago, and I ended up unplugging and replacing in, and it went through the drain and spin, and I was able to rerun the load. Well yesterday I washed a large load of diapers (I use cloth), 2ce- like always. Did it fine. Next load was right afterwards was a pretty large load of clothes, and I can’t for the life of me get it to drain, it just hums like you said yours did. I’ve watched a few other videos on how to clear a plug in the drain pump, how to replace the drain pump (I honestly assumed it was broken by the hum)… but I am so glad I came by your video! Going to try as soon as I get home, easy fix first! I had to get my scrubs, and kids uniforms out last night and finish washing by hand, and my large load continues to sit at the house full of water 😭. I was so scared I’d have to buy a whole new washer. Thank you again!
Thanks so much for this well put together video. I have the exact same washer, but I was having a slightly different issue. Thank you a million times for getting straight to the point and posting a link to the manual. You saved me money and a huge headache
I have a GTW330ASK3WW that was doing the same thing. I replaced the pump and it was still doing the same thing. Found out it was still under warranty, so I had GE come and fix it. I was not there when they did, and they replaced the pump again and left. The tenant said they didn't test it. The only thing left to replace on these beauties is the main board WH18X28642. I had our appliance dealer get us one from the GE Rep. under warranty and installed it today. It was properly programmed with the correct "personality ID" which is "3" and the machine still doesn't work properly.

Thank you for doing this. Helpful. Miss my old machine ....jus open shift)balance load and spin. This stupid thing keeps adding water then spinning. Ugh. Thank you again.
Thanks so much for video. I tried code finding and my suspicions were correct. I had a bad Water Valve Gasket ASM PN: WH13X26535 however, when I purchased my washer almost 2 years ago I also included a 5 year warranty. Glad I did, since the Lowe's/GE technician was really good. He called 20 minutes before arriving, troubleshoot my washer, performed a required software update, and changed the valve. All under 45 minutes.
If you go to the manual override to test the draining you can drain it and then right after it is the test for the spin cycle : ] for future non-draining issues.

I was having an Unbalanced load error and after my research it turned out being the motor belt. Figured I'd share and save DIY's some time and headache.
We just purchased the exact same washer and it keeps cutting out the power ( tripping the fuse box ). I think that the washer is faulty because the last GE washer that we had was 13 years old and it was still working when we got the new one. And the new one supposedly doesn't require as much power so I don't understand. The GE guy that came over said that we have a faulty fuse, but the last washer worked fine and never cut out even once. Thanks!
I had a GE Washer for 15 years before I had this one as well. These new washers just aren't as great and faulty free like our old GE washers. I've had this new one for almost 2 yrs and I don't like it!
I have a different model one... no whistles or lights, nothing: just plain rotary knob and a couple for load size and "special rinse"... would not spin and drain... actually was kinda random where it went like 3 to 4 working then quit... next day it would. Tonight, yeah, 11:30Pm I decided I wanted to look at the problem and thought that the water pump was not working but in fact it was kinda trying to work... ops, a clog happened again ??? So I used the shop vac to pump the water out.. and here is a nice tip: when you put the shop vac at the tip of the hose that goes into the wall, it will really suck the shit out and I think in my case, it cleared whatever gunk was there. I still went ahead and removed the pump: it was quite clean - but only after I sucked the water through the whole circuit. Amazingly, it thoroughly drains all the water if you do that. Then I tested the pump on the sink and it was working just fine. Put it all back together, ran a small load size just on the "spin & drain" cycle and tada !! Working again. I just rescued my weekend :-)

I have the same washing machine model GTW460ASJOWW is not getting water. Is stuck in the draining cycle do not get any water it does not fill up both hot and cold water taps are open. Thank you for your help.
Thanks for uploading this video it’s very helpful. In defense of your wife that washer is a lemon. I have the exact kind and I wish I had never bought it. 🤔
I have one like this and i tend to keep adding stuff during the cycle . Sometimes then it starts draining and then it wont do anything except beep a few times so I figured out if you unplug it for about 8 to 12 hours it resets itself automatically.
I had this issue several years ago. no Tech could solve it. I ended up removing the latch from the door and manually installing latch in slot. NO MORE issues in 3 years... NONE. Out of curiosity, I reinstalled latch to lid.... first load, the issue appeared. (latch has be separated from lid since) NO I cant explain it, i just know it is and has been working.
I’ve already done this all, took apart the drain pump, cleaned it. It eventually worked. Think it might be the “computer board” so irritating. I now wish I never got rid of my old Maytag that I had in college.
quick tip: as he said the MANUAL is in a bag inside the washer taped to the side, important: put it back after or you will not be able to find it 6 months from now. I was told I needed a new board but it was actually some paper stuck in the level tube connection area on the bottom side of the basket, WARNING:removing the agitator is next to impossible, DO NOT try and remove the cap or top from the agitator, there are parts in there that you will destroy if you drill thru it, and you still won't be able to get it off, it SNAPS (not screws) into place from the lower part where the plastic ring is, get a rubber oil filter wrench and save yourself a whole lot of trouble, you must give it a quick jerk to snap it free, there is probably crud in there so don't be surprised if it gives you some trouble, NOTE: you don't need to remove the agitator to clean the level tube because even when you remove the basket you cant get to it, i just cleaned the connection from the water level tube to the basket, there was paper in that area, be careful not to break off nipple that connects the tube to the basket, tip the machine over and access it from the bottom, DON'T take the level tube off with water in the unit, why? No idea,
Curious. Of the ones that just cleaned oil off the pulleys and belts, how many are still working properly? I have dealt with many washers. I usually take that as an indication of a bad tub or transmission seal.
I have the exact same washer and it is the worse washer I have ever owned! It broke 2 weeks from purchase. They come and fixed it and said it was lose. It has worked of and lije that be here lately it is an everyday time occurrence. I just want an old fashioned washer, these are too darn sensitive! My mother has had her for years and it washes great!😠
We have the same problem no matter how small or large the load. I also hate the fact that the washer picks the water level! Is there a machine out there that isn’t HE and will let me pick the level? I can’t figure out how GE thinks clothes are going to get clean when the clothes are above and sticking out of the water! I curse the day HE was invented!
What about if I do not have an unbalanced load and it decided to just not drain nor spin... checked the drain no clog. Plugged it back in and worked for two more loads and now it’s repeating the problem
How did you remove the top? I think I need to replace a suspension rod but can’t figure out how to access them. The back doesn’t open like the traditional washer and I don’t see how to remove the top.
I'm looking online. I can't find the codes could you post the codes / manual for troubleshooting please? I'm having trouble getting all the water to spin out my clothes are really really wet when I take them out. Thank you
Did you ever buy the jig and update your software? That's what you need to do to fix this washer. You have both error codes for the spin and unbalanced code and the jig can be bought from parts dr.
Wish they would bring the old washers back they worked better and didnt have unnecessary buttons.
I’m with you all these codes and bullshit are so annoying nobody has time to babysit a freaking laundry machine
I’m never buying the same type of laundry machine ever again

No idea,
I thought the same thing about the paper when I removed it. Where will I put this? Put it right back under. Thanks for adding the other tips.

Curious.
Of the ones that just cleaned oil off the pulleys and belts, how many are still working properly?
I have dealt with many washers. I usually take that as an indication of a bad tub or transmission seal.
This worked for me. i thank you for sharing.
I hope this works for mine not sure if I have this guide though will comment after I try it in am. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much your video really helped me
I have the exact same washer and it is the worse washer I have ever owned! It broke 2 weeks from purchase. They come and fixed it and said it was lose. It has worked of and lije that be here lately it is an everyday time occurrence. I just want an old fashioned washer, these are too darn sensitive! My mother has had her for years and it washes great!😠
We 👂you
🤑 cash money, my washer stopped mid cycle , was exactly what happened here
💰
Mine has almost the same model number. Enter service mode by pressing start button and simultaneously turn knob 7 clicks (not 7 full turns).
Thank you for your video
Helpful video. Where did you the diagnostic code chart?
Mine was taped to the inside of the drum...but here is a link: www.manualslib.com/manual/1254374/Ge-Htw200ask_ww.html?page=34#manual
Its a piece of crap machine. I wish i had done research on this machine. Shame Shame
Hello I have the same washer the door is not opening can you help please
Thank you!!!!!
No problem
What about if I do not have an unbalanced load and it decided to just not drain nor spin... checked the drain no clog. Plugged it back in and worked for two more loads and now it’s repeating the problem
I'm having the same issue.. did you fix the problem?
Thank you so much!!!
You are welcome so much.
5 Mode Shifter! Any recommendation?
How did you remove the top? I think I need to replace a suspension rod but can’t figure out how to access them. The back doesn’t open like the traditional washer and I don’t see how to remove the top.
Thank you so much you help me alot

I've had this washer for 3 years and hate it. I got same problems
Same for me. I bought all new GE appliances when we bought our house. Never again. Have had so many issues with alot of them.
Thank you for your video! It helped so much.

Hi I found your video very helpful but I have two codes my washer is blinking and are not on my manual...? Can you help?
Do you have a video on how to lift up the top to be able to get to the top of the tub?
I do not, but I remember it has clips. I think I wedged a screw driver around the perimeter and pushed down and it popped up.
Mine is the exact same model.
It spins, but not fast enough. It drains fine. But not fast enough leaving the clothes very wet.
Any solution to your problem? Mine is doing the exact same thing and I can't figure it out
@@janicemartin2815 Gave it away, and bought a new one
I have the same washer but I can’t get into the maintenance mode :(
Did you ever buy the jig and update your software? That's what you need to do to fix this washer. You have both error codes for the spin and unbalanced code and the jig can be bought from parts dr.
My washer is unbalanced with every load. Even the smallest load it puts the clothes all on one side
