Most of the big / heavily armored ships in SC won't be good until the armor system is implemented. A ship like the Idris M will require big guns or torps to take down. Shooting at an Idris with a size 3 laser repeater wont do anything.
Thank you, got a lot of info from two other vids that were about an hour each but there were confusing holes. Your nice neet short vid cleared all of the confusion, you have yourself a sub ;~) thank you again.
In players hands, it would be harder to take them down, but, if hit by multiple torpedoes, they are supposed to feel the pain or else torpedoes aren't doing their job
Here's my idea of customizing IDRIS M: parkin' Ballista on tup & bottom of IDRIS as much as he can take, it will give much more fire power and cover 😁😉.
Didn't even know the Kit options was a thing, very interesting. Fantastic footage at the end there! I feel like capital ship combat is quite close quarters really? Just based off my memory from older space games like the Tie Fighter series and Freespace games. Might be remembering wrong though.
I'm glad these capitals finally got PDS. There is no way these light fighters should be that close trying to disable engines. The chess board is starting to flesh out these days.
LotW upload!! Yay!!! 🥳 That bridge makes no sense if they implement location based damage. It will have no armour if they design with visual consistency, and it will take out command and control of the ship as soon as it gets blown off.
@@lawofthewestgaming hopefully once crew stations are done they may rethink the design philosophy around large ships and have proper CICs like battlestar!
I think Idris-P owners should be able to upgrade to the -M for a hefty price tag tho, so your're not forver stuck with the K kit/P especially for people who want fleets focussed on combat
So the upgrade Kit doesn't include any armor upgrades for the P? Current understanding is that you can and will be able to upgrade components and armor in the future, giving us the ability to upgrade a P almost to an M in terms of armor and components, and with the upgrade kit laser it's about as close as you can get. Is that inaccurate?
I don't know enough yet maybe but I used an anvil hawk to fight the xeno and it felt like it would have taken 2 hours to destroy it but I had a friend with me that had the bomber ship that has the size 9 missiles, and made it a lot quicker.
I would love to see a 'if it fits it sits" video for the ROC DS and the Cyclone MT- I bought a few in a hurry to use as LTI tokens, but I still plan on holding onto one so I have an LTI MT. But when I took time to think about it the TR JUST fit in the Freelancer Max, I was wondering if the MR would even make it in or if the turret struts would obstruct the Missile pods. Is the ROC DS too wide for the connies we currently have? Another video that I'd love to see by you is an 'if it fits it sits' of the Taurus when that drops in the coming months
It's going to be very costly to upgrade the Idris in-game. I don't expect to see people using it to trade in either, due to fuel costs. So mostly, that cargo space will be filled with food, parts, and mission supplies. I suspect we will need a good reason to bring out these big ships, and it will likely be an org level event.
For normal trading I don't think they will primarly be used. The "Idris Corvette Revealed" post back in 2013 listed the following quote: "Idris’ are used by long-range explorers who plan to be as many as two dozen jumps from a refueling station and as armored merchantmen by concerns needing to move goods through pirate territory." While it was still a corvette back then and it's now a frigate. It still shows CIG's intentions for this ship and no telling how pricey top end cargo can get. Also, this is one of the few larger ships that can land on planets full with cargo. I've always taken this as a sign that it's more for high value cargo if you are going to use it for cargo. While I do own an Idris-M, and I can say I plan to use it for high risk trading if it makes sense. Sometimes moving more cargo that's worth less can be more profitable if we are going by real life metrics that is. The Idris is more like a armored truck for moving a lot of gold. Not something you see everyday and it will require planning to steal from unless the doors are left open.
@@gundam4730 The whole "two dozen jumps from refuelling" is seriously going to change our gameplay tactics, if that is still a thing. Thanks for pointing that article out. Something else, I heard a Freelancer can fit in the Idris, so there's more cargo. :)
"CIG putting Jav + Idris in game to test against playerbase ..." Well ... if the game doesn;t migrate more to SIM than allowing a Gladius to destroy an Idris the game has serious problems. In no reality should a handful of light fighters be able to take out a milspec frigate. Any attack from a Gladius should be no better than splattered bugs on a windshield; maybe a paint scratch here and there.
I love how you put the current alpha version numbers in your thumbnails, super helpful!

Legit vid bro, this gave me chills!
Not fair, not fair at all. Boy now I want my Idris even moar!!! Thanks for the awesome video LAWoftheWEST.
Been waiting for a decent Idris comparison video since I picked this game up! Top job Law!

Hearing the Javelin's main gun going off... is so god damn satisfying
Good to see this, thanks Law for your analysis.
Well considering that during xeno event 2 idris barely manage to survive less than 30 seconds, it definitely needs a buff lol
I’m sure when you put better components and skilled players in it, it’s going to be a bit harder.
The Idris put in Live was nerfed due in the evocati the entire server does not have engout fire power to kill one. xD

They also don't have armor in the game yet.
9:43 that formation looks so cool!

Awesome clarification and info on the Kit, thanks for the awesome video brother!
Good work on the comparisons. I don't plan to ever have any of these, but good information to know.
Yes, the idea behind the "K" is great!
You got some SICK footage of Xenothreat. Nice work!
That's good all, but how many Furies can it hold?
GREAT info!
That said, I eagerly await all the Idris "firin' mah lazor" memes :D
I truly enjoy your content, hope more is coming 😁
Thanks, I've been up to my neck dealing with IRL issues lately but there's plenty of content coming hopefully very soon!
Beautiful
Sure has been something watching stuff come into the game. Even in a pandemic with other places struggling. I'm impressed and buoyed.
Those combat sounds 👌

ya, I'm surprised that it doesn't also have a battle bridge, like the one that the 890 Jump has.

Glad ur back
Thank you bro. İ couldnt any information in turkish forums about that. So i decided to buy m and maybe buy kits after your super uber video.
Glad I could help

give this man more subs
I confess that... see them explosed was quite satisfying!
Yeesssss boooom
Awesome video. Wish they'd bring the Xeno event back.
Welllll you're in luck!
Great video!
I'm calling dibs on that man turret Law. Time for some pew pew! ;)
Already put in a request to have your name embroidered onto it. ; )
Awesome video!
Perfect ending!

I love these capital ships in particular "especially M" but I literally have no reason to throw down cash for one. Beautiful, deadly ships indeed.
I just want to fly one
so the p version completely looses that main canon?
