I just did this battery replacement by myself (HP Pavilion x360 coverible 14"). Don't start opening the Laptop from the frontside like shown. Remove all screws and start on the corner back from the lashes. Don't use a knife to pull. Take a small scalpel and to support a small screwdriver. It's opening easy in that way.

Thank you! I’m not a mechanically inclined guy and I couldn’t have done this without your video (never ever would have found the screws in the rubber feet and never would have had the guts to pop the back pressure points if I hadn’t watched you do it). You may have saved me from buying a new laptop!

  • @adm58

One thing to warn about, as I wrecked my 14 month old HP this way, is that dealing with those tiny and very fiddly screws, the slightest wobble can mean one rolls away from the hole and touches the motherboard. There is power running through it with the battery in place, and in my case, this resulted in a few tiny sparks. I hoped they were of no significance but when assembled the laptop wouldn't even power on. I took it to a repairer for an opinion (not a full.check, for which I'd have had to pay, I just wanted an idea of cost). I was told that it was very likely that the screw has shorted the motherboard and, as a result may have also damaged other components. As a having a new board fitted would likely cost at least half the price of a new laptop even if nothing else needed replacing, it was basically a write off. The old detachable batteries were far more convenient!

    Such an excellent video.
I'm so much calmer also about replacing the battery in my laptop. You're awesome.
And I particularly appreciated hearing the additional information about some of the components inside the computer: the ram card, what it looks like and where it is, how the open space would allow for an additional ram card how the fan wicks away the heat and conducts the heat through that funny metal arm inside....etc.
You did just so awesome and you have a great calm communication voice.
    Well done.

Very instructive! I was able to replace the battery on my Pavilion 15-cc510. Prying open the laptop is quite impressive, with loud plastic noises that make you think you broke something, and the fear of harming/scraching the device (I used a swiss army knife). Thank you so much!

Great video. Tool tip for popping off the back: The can opener/screw driver blade on a swiss army knife worked very well. (This is opposite the bottle opener on mine.) It is less likely to mar the plastic case than other items or tools.

  • @DonWestonbooks

Thank you for this video. I watched it all the way through before attempting it and things went very smoothly. A few problems sprang up and I referred to the video and it was a breeze. I too missed the corner screw under the footing, but quickly figured out I needed to recheck for it.
The other thing I was unsure of were the snaps at the dvd drive. There were three along the flimsy footing and two looked like they were free. I stuck my knife blade under the middle one and it unsnapped.
Over all I did this in about 45 minutes which is probably slow but not so bad for a seventy-year-old just techy enough to be dangerous. I might be tempted to replace had drive with a solid state drive if decide to transfer over all my files to a thumb drive.
Thanks again for making it so easy.

Bought a battery from Laptop Battery Express (since they seemed to have good reviews and HP no longer sells this battery from what I could find). Powered it on really quick before a full charge and it worked! So glad because I'm not an IT or computer expert and was afraid I'd break something. Great video, very helpful. Just a little helpful advice. When replacing battery, always get an HP battery for your HP laptop. I tried 3 different generic ones from Amazon, they wouldn't hold the charge for the CMOS. I'm assuming the HP batteries have a built in CMOS battery inside. My laptop doesn't have a separate CMOS battery. When I use the generic battery, the laptop won't turn on unless I plug it in first to startup the laptop. Then I can unplug and work with it as a regular laptop. I finally bought an HP battery and have zero issues. Sucks, because it costs more, but you get what you pay for. 😂😅
