    I've been avoiding sending my wife's laptop in to hp. Yesterday I saw this video and immediately ordered the battery. 15 minutes ago the battery came. Hardest part about this was separating the plastic case apart. (was afraid of breaking like all the automotive clips I've broken) but other than that extremely easy.

      ya the bottom clips usually they break and that is very normal as time passes, then only important part is the screws that hold the cover in place.

    I had got the laptop and they claim it can get 10 hrs but i dont get anywhere near that and i get like 5 hrs. The battery drains very quickly. Its that normal or is the battery defective? And it drains even while its off too.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  4 месяца назад

      Let's start with a little laugh because who in the world told you that your laptop was going to last 10 hours on battery? That's like expecting a penguin to fly - adorable but utterly unrealistic. We're talking about a laptop here, not some magical tablet that sips on power like it's fine wine. If your laptop manages to hang on for more than 3-4 hours, then you should be throwing it a battery-life celebration party because that's already a win in the laptop Olympics!
      Now, achieving that mythical 10-hour battery life is possible if, and only if, you're prepared to make your laptop as lively as a brick. Dim your screen brightness to the point where it's barely a whisper of light, switch to battery saver mode (and say goodbye to any sort of speed because your CPU is about to take a nap), don't actually use your laptop, and set it to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity. Voila! You've achieved the impossible - 10 hours of not using your laptop. A standing ovation is in order.
      But let's get down to the nitty-gritty. The battery life of your trusty laptop is influenced by a few key performers in this drama:
      Screen Brightness: The dimmer, the better. Your battery will thank you.
      Power Mode: Choose wisely. Battery saver for longevity, performance mode for speed and a quick death.
      Background Applications and Services: The more the merrier? Not for your battery. Every app and service is a little leech on your battery's life.
      External Devices: Plugging in devices drains your battery faster than a kid slurps up spaghetti.
      Keyboard Backlight: It looks cool, but it's another sneaky battery drain.
      There are other bit players in this drama, but these are your main characters.
      And oh, about the battery draining while off - it's not a defect; it's a feature! Thanks to something called FAST boot, your laptop is always in a light slumber, dreaming of the next time you'll press its power button. It's why your "Up time" in task management shows more hours than a clock should have.
      SOLUTION: Want to save your battery from unnecessary drain? Turn off FAST boot. Here's how:
      #1.Hit Win+R, type powercfg.cpl, and press Enter.
      image: imgur.com/a/CXFwg1O
      #2. In the Power Options window, click on "Choose what the power button does."
      Image: imgur.com/a/IpVbTGe
      Image: imgur.com/a/NepEH8a
      #3. Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable."
      Image: imgur.com/a/SDjXgy0
      #4. Untick the box for "Turn on fast startup."
      Image: imgur.com/a/TyHwHEg
      #5. Hit "Save changes."
      Cons:
      Your laptop might take a minute or so longer to wake up from its beauty sleep.
      Pros:
      Fresh Windows load every time, battery savings while powered off, and potentially a longer life for your motherboard and storage.
      Remember, every laptop is a unique snowflake with its own quirks. Treat it well, and it might just surprise you with how long it can stay awake.
      Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.
      cheers🍻

    • @josephmartin3145
      @josephmartin3145 3 месяца назад

      Well, I just bought a battery for the EF-15 series on Amazon. It didn't give specifics beyond that it's an HT03XL which is the same type you link to. After I got the battery, I followed your tutorial without a hitch. But then came the reset. It was supposed to be automatic, it showed 58 percent. After a time it was 65 percent. I disconnected because I had to use it in another room. Then I turned it off at 47 percent. The next day it was 37 percent which wasn't entirely alarming because I know PCs use power even when turned off. The problem is that when I powered up at the library, it was down to 7 percent. It took hours just to get to 26 percent. I did an HP diagnostic, and the battery test failed over and over again saying I need to recalibrate but I can't do that until it's at 100 percent. What gives?

    • @josephmartin3145
      @josephmartin3145 3 месяца назад

      Note that I did restart my laptop and it went to 28 percent and is now at 31 percent, still what is going on that battery recalibrate has been cancelled over and over again?

    • @uFixTek

      update the bios to the new version.
      also turn off the fast boot in the control panel. this will conserve the battery capacity.
      NOTE: also we do sometimes get a defective battery that the charge drop by a big chunk.
      Steps on how to manually turn off the Fast Startup
      Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Power Options icon.
      Click/tap on the Choose what the power buttons do link on the left side
      Click/tap on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top
      If prompted by UAC, click/tap on Yes
