P21S Polishing Soap - Restoring Ruined Exhaust Tips

- My Audi S4 has absolutely filthy, disgusting, oxidized, and generally ruined exhaust tips. Today we will find out if P21S Polishing Soap can clean them up and make them shine like new again. This is a very interesting product as it uses a sponge with an abrasive lather that scrubs metal clean.

I have a ton of experience polishing metals with power tools…and automotive compounds/polishes. My favorite combination is Griot’s FCC followed with 3D One. Wool pads to cut (power tool rotary-action) and a medium-heavy pad to finish- not a soft one (using 8mm DA). Metal can take a lot of weight when doing the correction.
If you’re really brave, before this aforementioned process use 000 steel wool. It micro-scratches, but when regarded as a cutting stage it really saves time removing gunk or tarnishing.
Meant to add: Protecting the surface with original Fusso is unquestionably the best protection you can find for the money. Wear PPE, plan on wiping-off after only a minute, and have at it.
Thanks for watching and the tip! I'll give Griot's a shot and the 3D polish as well. I have heard 3D has great polishing products. I tried Griot's paint products before and found them to be very mild, even with their heaviest cuts it was taking FOREVER to cut down, but this was probably 5 years ago now.
I'll try out the Fusso next time, still have a can of original formula. This time I went for the Adam's Graphene Ceramic (liquid) coating, not sure how will it will stick, but time will tell!
@@DmitrysGarage I understand on the Griot’s note; I should clarify that the substrate I usually work with most is silver. I still feel that any cutting compound will give you some headway, but you’ll quickly become concerned with things like product sling and flash times. That is why FCC is a good product. And if for any reason it doesn’t do as well for you with metal, I can say it will work wonders on clearcoat.
As for 3D, prepare to be amazed. 3D One has the best open time of any product I’ve used, and finishes down better than anything for the money by far. I don’t think it cuts too well below the 2,000-grit level, but using a medium to soft pad it can make almost anything look better. For clearcoats alone it is a fantastic one-step for the money, and has a near-infinite open time. The wipe-off takes a minute, but you’ll never experience dusting whatsoever.

Excellent transformation on those exhaust tips. What a lovely S4! Does this P21S Polishing Soap come infused with any wax/sealant, or would you need to follow up with a wax? I already have a small tub of Meguiar's NXT All-Metal 'Polysh' (their spelling not mine!) and, while not really much of a chrome cleaner in my opinion, I do love how slick and hydrophobic my bike's chrome items now are. I would say applying P21S first, then going back over it with the Meguiar's could be a killer combo for chrome. Or would that be overkill?
Thanks Owen! It's just a polish, so it doesn't add any protection. I forgot to mention in the video, but I did ceramic coat the tips with Adam's Graphene Coating (liquid). Coatings don't always stick well to metal, but we'll see how it goes. I'll have to try the Megs version out at some point, they have solid stuff, especially given it's readily available in non-enthusiast stores.
I've been using P21S Polishing Soap for every bit of 20+ years. The only thing with this soaps "polishing" ability, it is kind of light, not a super heavy polish. To me, it's more of a maintenance soap for polishing well maintained tips. It's not going to get the heavy stuff, that just won't happen. It is a good soap for exhaust tips though.
Yea I think it wont replace machine polishing and other harsher treatments, but I was honestly impressed by how good a job it did for what it is. Thanks for your insight and for watching!
The supply sponge is very soft to prevent marring. I'll try a rag or something more harder than the original sponge. Like this product 1000% Do your kitchen sink with it!
Thats a great tip Javi, I did notice it was very soft. I think a rag or a wool pad would probably cut much faster. I do plan on testing it on my stainless sink :)!
@@DmitrysGarage I'd took down my cat back(stienless) and it did removed the bleu color that form from the heat , i was amazed at the results!
Mother's metal polish, a 4 inch buffing pad and a Dewalt drill done then ceramic coat it 👍
Thanks for the tip Kerry! I've used the Mothers Metal Polish in the past, but I'll have to try it on a buffing pad instead of their power ball.
I use the product and use in house sinks ect..

Thanks Mario! I would not use this on a windshield, I'm not sure how that would work out. You can polish glass, but I'm not sure this is the right product for that.
Not really impressed, 3 times to get what my product does in one. But maybe I'm just over critical as i am a metal polisher by trade.
Thanks for watching! Which product are you normally using? I thought this did pretty well for a soft sponge and a few minutes of rubbing, but always interested in seeing better options. My pipes were very heavily pitted, honestly a very fine flap wheel on a grinder might have been the better start :)
