    Nice vehicle. I have to say from what I've noticed in the industry, I see lots of great comments from hobbyists about Adam's graphene ceramic coating, but I also see a very large amount of installers whether pros or hobbyists, talking about the longevity tapping out even before it hits a year. This is from people who have supposedly installed correctly, have used the boosters for maintenance, and also have gone as far to clay and attempt to unclog the coating. They claim it fails very prematurely. I actually have liked what I've seen from other Adam's products, but I wish I could be sold on this product. I notice you showcase a lot of their products, and many youtuber do paid reviews, so It's hard for me to believe it's a decent product. Guess I need to wait on ScottHD's test to end, which will be a couple years haha.
    Honestly though, most ceramic coatings need to be coddled, and I'd say a large percentage rarely meet even 2yrs. I have no problem with that, but I'd like some better explanations on what to expect as far as longevity goes comparatively to what is marketed by the companies. Living in the rust belt area, you really can see how these coatings handle the abuse from the road on daily drivers.

      Brandon, thanks for watching and love the car too. As far as Adams coatings I’m confident that the graphene ceramic liquid is a quality offering especially given the price. Ive been more disappointed with installer-only offerings in my experience. I have a separate video where I run my array of tests against it and it absolutely crushed my durability test surviving 840 hand washes. Personally I do not use boosters or toppers. My philosophy is to use a single product and rely on its protection until it wears off. Otherwise what’s the point of a supposedly durable and long lasting product if I’m essentially reapplying layers constantly? Furthermore I agree with you on the year claims, I seriously doubt the super long claims and who won’t be buffing their car again in that time anyway to get the paint nice and glossy again? I think all these manufacturers know you either wont keep the car that long, or find the paint is contaminated clean it snd buff it and reapply or just not notice. My friend was once convinced she still had a coating on her Prius because the dealership sold it to her as a lifetime ceramic coating, in reality she had super contaminated paint and no hydrophobicity left. Lastly I always strive for transparency and while I’ve been a big fan of most (but not all) Adam’s offerings and have even interviewed their CTO for my channel, I can assure you they do not pay me. In fact I bought this coating with the ad revenue proceeds from this channel. If I am ever given something or am paid I make it very clear.

      @@DmitrysGarage Thank you for the reply and clarification. I agree on the installer only sentiment...Most consumer grade has to at-least hit the minimum bar of the manufacturers claim, or they will be subject to PR failure. 840 washes is impressive as well, I will have to look into the product again. I agree with how you feel, unfortunately there are very few coatings that don't require constant maintenance and toppers on daily drivers to reach even their minimum claims. I think of coatings like UD Pro or Meguairs Hybrid Paint Coating that don't rely on maintenance toppers to work, which is awesome especially for non-car enthusiasts who may not always get around to washing, or sign-up for a maintenance agreement. Still, you can make a quality ceramic coating last as long as you'd like with topping imo, but that's not always doable. Thanks for the video.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  2 года назад

      @@brandonf5558 There are definitely too many consumer grade "coatings" which really aren't coatings but silica sealants. IMO you should never need a topper to reach minimal durability/longevity claims if the product is legit. I never use topper products on my daily driven vehicles, I only test with toppers. The main reason is that if I wanted to wax/seal the car every X months I'd just do that, the underlying product should do what it's claiming. In my experience even the spray (most DIY friendly) version of the Adam's Graphene lasted over their claimed year. I'm sure it's still going for whoever has my vehicle now as I've sold it. There were a few high wear spots (where people's clothes/bodies rub on doors) that were a bit weak compared to low wear spots such as the hood, but still good to go. I'm confident the liquid is even stronger and would also bet the Blackfire Pro liquid I reviewed recently would do great, it was also super impressive.

    Hey Dmitry! Congrats on the purchase. It's great seeing more B9 S4 content on RUclips and I'm looking forward to more videos. I notice your exhaust tips look really good in this video, how were they when you got the car? It seems pretty common on these cars that - especially when not maintained - they start to corrode over time and get pitted. Did you have any trouble getting them brightened up?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Matt! Definitely will be getting more B9 content out there :). Just had the brake bleeding video out and I have like 7 other ones in the queue ;). The tail pipes on these turn black really quickly, partially its from the rich mixture under power enrichment due to the turbo, but also from the overrun crackle/bangs/pops in dynamic mode. For comparison my supercharged Mustang isn't quite as bad, but my tune doesn't have any overrun crackles built in, really only does it on cold starts and high rpm upshifts.
      I did polish up my tail pipes a bit, but they're still not perfect. I have a detailing product I'm going to test soon (will post a vid) which is supposed to be really good. There is some corrosion, but I'm hoping I can polish most of it out. I'll try sealing them with a ceramic coating to see if it will at least help wipe off the soot and prevent corrosion between changes.
      The factory brake pads are also insanely dusty. I'm sure you've noticed that as well. When I first got the car and made this video I thought the prior owner never washed the wheels, nope it's just how they look after 300 miles.

    • @Matt-yj9ew
      @Matt-yj9ew 2 года назад

      @@DmitrysGarage thanks for the detailed response! I spend a lot of time driving in dynamic mode, so that helps to explain why my exhaust tips turn black so quickly. It'll be interesting to see if ceramic coating makes them easier to maintain.
      I know exactly what you mean about the brake dust. Between black paintwork, exhaust tips that turn black quickly, and brake dust on the "10-V spoke" alloys, keeping my S4 clean is a full time job (but totally worth it)!
      Your other S4 videos so far are exactly what I've been looking for, as I plan to start doing more maintenance on the car myself 🙂

    Really love your content thanks so much for sharing! Just found your channel and have been binge watching haha! Quick question: Are you applying any products to help "maintain" the adams ceramic coating over time? Is this something you believe in doing at all? I'm going to be using the adams graphene on my brand new car shortly based on your testing, however the ceramic booster from adams has terrible reviews online and wasn't sure if another non-adams product would make more sense? Does it makes sense to use wolfgang concours as a booster considering it was the highest performing spray in your testing? Thanks again, I eagerly await any of your new content!

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Blaine, really appreciate you binge watching :). I generally do not use maintenance products as I'm trying to see how the base product performs. Frankly it's a bit convenient for the manufacturer to have users applying a silica based sealant ("booster") every X washes, in my opinion you may as well just use a silica spray product and skip the coating. The premise of coatings is long term performance, the pain is supposed to be up front. That being said I will use silica sealant products (including boosters) as touch up on coated cars if there are failure spots in the coating (i.e. in a high wear area) to avoid having to re-do the whole car. It's common for areas behind wheels and around the sides where people rub up on cars to start to fail. You could also look at using something like the Wolfgang silica spray you mentioned if the coating is just getting weak and you're not ready to polish the car again. It's a great product on its own as well. I used it just the other day on my car's front grille because coating it with a liquid coating would be super laborious (honeycomb pattern).

    How did you find the levelling of the coating ? When I’ve applied it, it’s always always been streaky under the UV light (especially when doing an overlapping portion of the same panel)

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  2 года назад

      Kasey, leveling can be an issue with many coatings and Adam’s is definitely not immune. I find going a bit wetter and really ensuring strong coverage when overlapping. Keep in mind its a microns thin layer and the UV dye can exaggerate some of the effect. As long as you have coverage everywhere and it looks good optically thats all that matters.
