  • More tips:
    Make sure you're not fooled into something you didn't review or agree on! When you're presented information, always read through it carefully, even if the person asking you to sign it already summarized it for you. Another tip is to ask questions when you're confused.. it can also help to bring along someone with you who may have prior military experience or a parent.

    You can also request to retrain earlier, on the halfway point of your contract as a FTA.
    If the job you want is undermanned it will be more likely that they will allow you to cross train.

    My wife is now going round three with the recruiters!! The last time she had all her waivers approved, ship date set, ready to go to basic, and surgeon general said nope....they called her back last week, and pretty much this time is the last try. Her waivers are still approved, and hoping that MEPS says yes this time, without going to the surgeon generals office. She is going for aerospace engineering field!!

    I had to pause the video for a second.. So despite other people saying that if a job we want isn't open or available.. We should just accept what the recruiter is pushing to us? Isn't that bad? To be stuck with a job you didn't want for 4 or 6 years?

    • @phoenixperplexity3784
      @phoenixperplexity3784 6 лет назад +9

      SALO or The 120 Days of Sodom: I can't eat rice with my hands like this... Then eat Isht! Yes it is wrong. You can never get everything you want, that it is true. But a contract is a compromise on both sides. It's redundant to only play by their cards. In a fair contract both sides have a say. Not all contracts are fair. But in the US where our supposed values are fairness, equality, and justice, the example is not set many times. Yes I get his mentality but you have to be scrupulous about a recruiter's rhetoric and persuasion. Now that does not mean to disrespect the recruiter or make a scene at the recruitment center. Yes that recruiter is a doing a job and he/she does not represent the entire US military, even though it is the first person we see to join, but they add pressure and make you think that it's the only option you got. See the thing about military practices is that the military tries to deprive one of self thinking and individuality, all be one. Now that's not entirely on purpose, it's just the consequence of military training methods so one can operate during stress and operate in unity as fast as possible, but some people abuse this methods. I advice as many have said, the military is for those who are mentality and physically strong and able, and only a strong mind is capable of mataining it's individuality in the tough and only a strong body can get you to the end. Yes, that's gonna be stressful! But it makes you stronger and gives you more ability.
      The key here to a military contract is if you don't get to have the MOS you want is not the end of the world. Also, another key is to be patient and composed which I think would be good qualities for a soldier. Recruiters use car dealership tactics. Dealiships persuade you to get the car on impulse by bragging about a car's feature and it's purchase add-ons and make your impulse seem that your are buying the car out of logic. The key to logical military decisions is to research an MOS, go to forums and view other people's experience. Not everybody always tells the truth, but gather info on the goods and bads of an MOS. Now everybody has their own motives and reasons to like or dislike something. Now after that analyze if the pros outweighs the cons based on your goals.
      Now if a recruiter tells you that MOS is not available, it's not the end of the world, and be patient. What the military doesnt tell you; just like any other job, everyday people fill a certain job and people leave that certain job. That tells us that job will eventually be available. Understand that you will have to make comprises, that goes for other life decisions as well, but don't commit what you will not agree too. Just clear your head, be strong, make a plan that allows you a bit of extra time just in case those wanted opportunities are not readily available, and make plans with extra options, no more than three total, be yourself, don't be gloomy, and you will be fine. Worst case scenario you don't like the contract you have the freedom to leave and nothing else happens afterwards. You can always try again in a month or two which gives you extra time to work on yourself for ex. Keep working out and get even stronger and on things that will make you a better candidate. It's not like they ban you for not signing, so you can always come back.

    Hey, I'm trying to get ahold of an airforce recruiter, I sent one email. that was about a week ago. As it seems there more I look into it, the less it seems it was about 30 years ago. Apparently 30 years ago they were trying to get you to join. The airforce today it seems, is the branch to join, but they can afford to be picky. They don't need you. It actually seems that the average wait time for a recruiter (amongst the airforce youtubers, just to get ahold of one, is 6 mo. to a year. I don't want to wait a year just to talk to one. So what do you suggest is the best way to get ahold of one. As it seems emailing and calling isn't going to work.

    • @MexicanBagpiper96
      @MexicanBagpiper96 7 лет назад

      Rading my comment now, yeah, that sounds pretty stupid. I probably just should have said "Combat Control." I know that the Pipeline is about two years long, I was wondering about the amount of time it takes between signing up with a recruiter and actually getting on the bus to Lackland. About the name, I've wanted to become a PJ since I was a freshman in highschool. I've been getting kind of dissuaded from becoming a PJ recently though, because I heard that they don't see as much action as Combat Control. Yeah, I'm one of those "I want to see some action kind of guys," I know that can be looked down upon sometimes, but I got that desire from reading books like "No Easy Day" and "No Hero." My recruiter did tell me that there is such thing as a "dream sheet" (which I think WildBlue addressed in a couple of his videos), so CCT and PJ are my top two options.

      Brinda Nozelin or pick a 6 year enlistment instead of 4

      Z Parker thank you so much I will do that, but I'm not going to enlist until the next 2 years from now.

    If he’s in the Air Force why does he say “what’s up soldiers” in the intro he should say “what’s up Airmen”

      @@mrsancheezee4793 Yeah I mean he’s probably just using a generalized statement but technically that’s not politically correct because he’s an Airman in the Air Force not a soldier in the Army. I honestly don’t care what he says but the reason I brought it up is cause some may if you know what I mean.
