    I’m a junior (in first semester) in high school and have had B’s and C’s all throughout high school, haven’t done any sports but have done two extracurricular activities. However, because of Covid, I haven’t been able to do sports all year and my school just got shut down meaning we’re entirely online. That being said, I’m in flight school and I plan on joining CAP soon. I also am extremely into music producing, I workout almost daily, and more, so I consider myself to be a fairly diverse person; I also have plenty of stories of overcoming struggle in my life. That being said, there really isn’t anything on my resume to show for that yet. If anybody reading this could throw some last minute ideas at me, go ahead. But thank you whoever read this whole thing.

      Yo! This is extremely late, but by the time you posted this message, I was also in flight school! I completed my FAA Written 2 months ago and now currently have 6 flight hours to my name. With your academics you're gonna have to push harder than that, keep going above and beyond, take hard classes, whether it's AP or IB curriculum. This year I got a 4.14 GPA calculated in IB, I'm now a rising junior.
      Get yourself into a leadership position in the extracurricular world, for example, I own a school club that's branched off of a non-profit organization I've been volunteering for. I'm managing events and determine volunteer's their community service hours and such, this was a benefit because I was able to participate in community service and also lead something. Get your recommendations up and such, from teachers, people of congress, and others from different kinds of prestigious organizations.

    I got Deferred from the Air Force Academy because of my CFA scores and academics. I didn’t even get a nomination from my Congressman, Senators, or Vice President. I’m still qualified for the Prepatory School, But at this point I’d rather do ROTC at VMI or Virginia Tech. I just want to see an acceptance letter from somewhere.

    After high school, is it better to attend a four year university, acquire transfer credit, maintain 4.0 gpa, play collegiate sports, and enlist in ROTC, or to enroll into a military institute, to reapply to USAFA? Which route is likelier to help in reapplying?
    Also, if someone spent three years in undergrad studies at a university before finally getting in, and we still have to do eight semester (four years) at USAFA, what does one do with extra slots left assuming one earns a ton of transfer credits? Would it be advisable to do a double major? Or are there graduate courses available at USAFA?

    • @electrowolf6260
      @electrowolf6260 3 года назад

      I’m not sure about double majors. I’m not expert but what I do know is you have to start from the scratch and go to the USAFA for another 4 years if you’re accepted.
      And yes, if you didn’t get in from highschool, you have a year to begin improving yourself in extracurricular activities, leaders, academics, and sports. For me I’m planning on going to Norwich or VMI to apply. What I do know is if you’re a re-applicant, they’ll see how much you’ve improved

    • @harmanjotsingh4230
      @harmanjotsingh4230 3 года назад

      @@electrowolf6260 right and their transfer credit policy seems good so I might be able to pull it off
      especially if i get into a university like santa clara university which ranks pretty high in like top three for business in state and top ten for engineering often as high as top 20 nationwide for certain dsciplines, uc davis, uc santa cruz, UOP, etc.
      so transfer credit policy will likely favor me
      if i perform
      and I plan on ROTC which also apparently gives tuition relief

    • @electrowolf6260
      @electrowolf6260 3 года назад

      @@harmanjotsingh4230 same for me. But don’t just pick a random college and put all hopes on going to USAFA. Have ROTC as a plan B or backup. Since we’re both planning on applying from college, I can share you my knowledge and advice. They said to take similar courses to the Plebes in first semesters in the Academy (calculus, chemistry, English, physics, etc)

    • @harmanjotsingh4230
      @harmanjotsingh4230 3 года назад

      @@electrowolf6260 for sure
      I am declaring my major as mechanical engineering so I will for sure be taking those
      I took AP English Language this fall and I will be able to waive it for USAFA if I get a 5 in may, I will be taking AB and BC calculus (as a senior in high school next schoolyear for the whole year) so those can whack off two years of calculus if I get 5s, if not, i think SCU and other universities still offer credit or I can take it an the accredited school with B or higher and then transfer those credits as per USAFA policy
      as for ROTC, not just plan B but it is central part of my plan, it honestly doesnt matter as much what four year I attend (although a UC or santa clara university would show academic competance beyond ordinary), but ROTC will be necessary to my applications it is an must and will be bulk of my application
      I believe ROTC units can also give a nomination but I may be wrong and I will seek congressional nomination nevertheless
      ROTC is more important because that is the great setback in my resume, more so than a subpar gpa, the biggest hit is my lack of extracurriculars since I was more reserved and less hands on in my first two years, and just when I began to come out of my shell, covid-19 hit and everything shut down last spring when I was sophomore, and now I am a junior with practically no extracurrics
      i need to make up for it and ROTC is the best way with collegiate sports and some student activities on campus (debates are my strength so I might do those)
      like many others, I didnt even aspire for the military till halfway my high school career, and I personally learned about service academies literally a month ago but am set on it

    • @harmanjotsingh4230
      @harmanjotsingh4230 3 года назад

      @@electrowolf6260 i figure double majoring would make sense since I can't decide between electrical or mechanical engineering anyhow
      I will start off with mech eng at a four year since it starts off with basics of engineering and mostly general classes for first two years, and then if I transfer to USAFA I can delve into electrical as well since I would by assumption I perform well, have many transfer credits for mech eng already and have four years at disposal for relatively not much of mech eng left)
      the big arguments against doing double majors is extra time, but if I transfer to USAFA, i would have to do four years anyhow so I will have ended up doing five to seven years either way
      and another thing that goes along with time is cost, but USAFA is free
      biggest expense is lack of work experience or opportunity and time for internships, but I will have plenty of experience doing five years + on active duty which will be a good testament to any employer in civilian world following my AF contract of eight years (or until retirement if I decide to serve longer than required)
      if I come back, I would plan on going to grad school in naval postgrad academy which is fairly close here in cali, and it is pretty good and accepts officers from all service branches and even federal civilian employees

    How you like the flight suit ? I like it, little clammy though being made of nomex. We had this female Tanker CO in the 906th, made her's look GOOD No dice though, she was married to a radar nav. She made a great AC I heard, ended up doing Stan eval. We liked her, treated the Crew Chiefs half way decent 'cuz she used o be one. Most of the flight crews were decent guys anyways, though. I asked er once why she decided to fly, she said "Cuz I got tired of cleaning carts !"
    Got a question. Have you noticed ? It looks to me like only USAF flight crews wear the flag on the left shoulder. All other troops, all other branches, it's seems it worn on the right side, blue field waving back, so as to represent the flag waving back on a guidon.
    Next question, is that a command patch on your right shoulder ? Starting to forget these things, memory's not so good.
    Our name patches were different, being black leather. I miss the flight jacket. Pretty cool, especially wearing the SAC patch, if you're wearing it for real, not bought from some surplus store !

      Dinentional Glass Productions He probably specified in another video, but I’m guessing he didn’t like his career field (egress) or that he wants to do 20 years and doesn’t want to do it as enlisted (which I think is smarter) and doesn’t have to worry about trying to balance school and work (also smart, especially before you make a lot of rank.) Also probably trying to get a better chance on a pilot slot.
      I looked into USAFA, but I know for a fact that even if I _did_ by some miracle make the selection cycle, I’d definitely be miserable the whole time.

    Can you join the air force while in high school

      Yes sir, I signed when I was a junior. It's very beneficial to sign while in high school too because you are more likely to get the job you want because there is no rush in getting you shipped out for basic.

    This video wasn't helpful. (sorry) I'm currently in the Air Force but what it seems like you were saying is that you must be damn near perfect to apply and that’s not encouraging... at all. Especially if a high school Senior or someone out of high school is watching that wants to apply. At that point it's too late to be this "well-rounded" "superstar". I'm sure most of the people there wouldn't be if this is actually true. Each were more than likely, good at a few things but not all. Sports don't make you good at physical training nor does being the smartest help you quickly adapt to the many situations that they will throw at you. I guess what I'm saying is your last comment should've been, "Apply even if you don't meet all of the things that I spoke of. You never know what that seletion cycle will be looking for. Just try your best to be as well-rounded as you can in the point of our life that you apply." :)

      Marshall Clinton He forgot to mention how he himself got in when he admitted to not being an A-Student and/or not taking Challenging Classes in High School which lead him to Enlist in the first place. The Air Force recruits Enlisted Personnel At 70% rate higher than it does with Civilian Fresh out of High School, Some College, And even with Bachlor’s Degrees.

      Mike Hascats I’m an American of African Heritage. I got Deferred from USAFA this year. Am I an exception or do you have a problem with Americans of color achieving opportunities that you yourself decided not to take up?
