I worked in the precursor to Security Forces, we were Security Police, my job was with weapons systems security. This meant we controlled access to the flight line (runway field) any restricted areas to include Bomber Alert, Weapons Storage, Tanker Alert. We also had a nuclear mission with B-52's and KC-135's on 15 minute ground alert. This meant the bombers were loaded with weapons and fuel and ready for take-off. Tankers were loaded with fuels required for their mission. These aircraft were already pre flighted, all the crews had to do is drive up and jump and fire up the engines. Because of the mission we had signs announcing a restricted area and that Use of Deadly Force is Authorized. We never had to shoot anyone, however anyone breaking the restricted area boundary would be standing in front of their Commander's Desk, not a good Day!! We were there no matter the weather 24/7 365 days a year. We served with Strategic Air Command and through it's history never had a weapons accident in the 46 years it was a part of the US Air Force. I served from December 1977 to June 1982 at my SAC base before discharging from the Air Force at the end of my enlistment. We also experienced the effects from the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in May 1980. There were usually times of boredom, then times of extreme action! We were tested by the Standardization Branch of our base at least every 6 months as it was required. You had to be proficient or you would be talking with the Commander! I personally was awarded an achievement award for acing the Stand board evaluation of the alarm system I controlled. I made 100% on the test, the first in the entire command to do so. The Commander made a big deal of it. We were also put on extreme readiness during the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan. The most stressful was knowing for certain that because of our mission, if the Soviet Union was to start nuclear war, we at our base would be vaporized in about 15 minutes!!! That was always on your mind, but we chose to do our mission in spite of the threat!!! I was also able to shake the hand of President Jimmy Carter as he arrived at our base after Mt. St. Helens erupted to see the damage from the air. I was tasked by this huge Secret Service Agent to secure the air control tower as Air Force One was going to land. I was issued one order, shoot first, ask questions later. I did not have to shoot anyone. Then this agent put me in the reception line for the President, I was still armed with my M-16 and side pistol. I doubt I will ever top that achievement. The most rewarding was to supervise some of the best Airmen in the Air Force!!!
I was in POL at Castle in the mid-70s. I'd see SPs at the flightline checkpoint, patrolling the flightline, even on days when the Tule fog was so thick nobody was flying and nobody was driving unless absolutely necessary. Much respect.
USAF Air Police early 1962 to late 1965. Back then you could be wearing dress blues and the cool white hat one day on base patrol and in fatigues humping the flightline the next. Worked 8 hour days. 3 days 3 to 11, 24 hour break then three 11 to 7, 24 hour break, then three 7 to 3 and then 72 hours off. That meant three days off every eleven days. We were in New Jersey so all the guys who lived within a couple hundred miles would usually go home when on break. Not bad duty. We carried a 45 auto when doing LE work and an M1 carbine when doing security. Just when I was getting out they were going to the 38 revolver and the M16. The M16 was a far better weapon than the M1 carbine but the 45 auto was a far superior sidearm, in my opinion. Spent almost my entire first year at Lackland. Two phases of basic then almost three months wait for an opening in Air Police school. 80 years old now but still remember fondly my time in the Air Force.
I'm glad I came across this video because Im planning on doing AF security forces. I previously wanted to do special operations but I changed my mind. I still wish I had my bachelor's to do special investigations.
AFSF is definitely a YMMV situation. There is a lot of things all SF troops will experience but at the end of the day it’s different for everyone. I did 21 years active and guard which also led to a 21 year federal LE career (INS Deportation Officer and Criminal Investigator USMS). If you go into it try to maintain a good attitude, look for opportunities and make the most of it.
If you are SF in a reserve component, you spend a LOT of your limited time TRAINING. Yes, you train, so you may be viable when you are called to duty, IF you are called to duty. If you are lucky enough to work at your base, you may be a glorified door-checker, perimeter check and surveillance troop, or any of the other positions that require minimal thought and activity. If you are working the desk, you are a comm control point, so you have more heat on you. If you are a "gate guard," you do check I.D.'s and verify information before allowing contractors and visitors entry onto the base. One thing civvies or non-SF personnel forget is that, at an entry control point, you don't wait to check I.D.'s if someone is coming in hot, and those weapons on SF's hips, legs, and wherever else WERE MADE FOR TAKING OUT RISK. DO NOT DISCOUNT THE ROLE OF SECURITY FORCES.
I’ve heard a lot of stuff about people in security forces who get “stuck” with a job as a sentry at a missile launch site and that it’s the worst job in the field by far. Is it really that bad and do people ever get the chance to change their job within security forces if they’re in that position?
When I was in the USAF (1984-89) I was in the Security Police/LE (AFSC 81152 (yes I still remember my code)). Back then you could go into LE right out of basic but things have changed. I was glad to be in LE instead of security because I got to do vehicle patrol (back when they had V8 Ford LTD cop cars). Then at Clark AB, Philippines I did Town Patrol which was quite the experience.
I did 5 years in Marines 3 was in Marine Security Forces. Wich is ultimately the Military version of SWAT we art cops but sometimes we got to suplamint Navy MAs. Best thing about MCSF is spending 5 days a week at the range. Currently re entering Via AF and looking as AF security forces.
It seems to be the least liked in most all of the career choices. But it was the very first that peaked my interest amongst the others I’ve been researching. I need to be up and going or else I’ll get this feeling of guilt. It’s something I genuinely want to do despite the effort I’ll have to put in
Awesome video man! I ship out for bmt on April 2nd and my number one choice was security forces and that’s what I got so I would definitely love to see more SF content! Keep up the awesome videos bro!
I was Security Police (Law Enforcement) back in the day. Worst part was not getting any time off. 24 hr break was for training, so was the first day of your 3 day break after working six days. Most other career fields train during their duty day. All appts had to be on your off time. Federal holidays, when the rest of the base is off, not you. Family days, sorry, exercises cancel your break and you don’t get that time back. Short manned, just extend to a 12 hr shift which turns out to be 14 after weapons issue and turn in. One advantage is going forward, I could always look back and say I have seen worse.
@@swampfoxIX Sounds like you had made there. Once I cross trained I felt like i wasn't at work enough to get things done. I started coming in on weekends just to get my work done.
@@swampfoxIX I was Law Enforcement and never had the pleasure of guarding nukes, but heard it wasn't fun. In fact I work with some prior service guys now one having been a Security Specialist and he has mentioned the joys of rivet counting.
I seen one of your videos for the first time about a month ago, and I think I’ve seen every single video you have so far lol good stuff dude 👌🏼👌🏼 highly looking forward to joining this year
There are two sides to being a SF soldier. Either you have a security clearance and get to see cool shit or you don’t then you stand at a gate all day!
You are goofy. Very few Air Force cops ever need more than a basic security clearance. I've guarded nuclear weapons in such. You get to stand at the gate all day until you make rank.
Forensource I only said something cause I was SF in the AF and I had a TS clearance. No security clearance you will be stuck on a gate or patrol. With a security clearance we went to the missile field.
@@davidholderbee6206 Bullshit, you don't need a TS clearance to work missiles or nukes. You do need one to work AF-1. Guarding missiles is no big deal.
I did 15 years as a Security Policeman (6 active/9 ANG). 3 years at Dyess SAC Bombers, since we had 3 Squadrons of MAC C-130's we did a lot of ABGD (fought Army Calvary Scouts at Ft. Hood A LOT). I was assigned to one of the first EST (SWAT) Teams in the USAF (went to FBI SWAT School). 1 year in Turkey at a MUNSS Sight I was the NCOIC of Arms and Equipment and Team Leader for a Joint Service Anti-Terrorist Team. 2 years at Langley on the Tactical Air Command Guard doing security for the Commander and Chief the Tactical Air Command. 9 years in the USAF Air National Guard. Our unit was in the field doing ABGD every other weekend and I completed Silver Flag Alpha (USAF Security Desert Warfare and Survival School Indian Springs AB Nevada). While I was in the Air Guard...my civilian job was...Alabama State Trooper on TAC1 and TAC Team 2 (SWAT). I loved my time as a SP in the USAF and got to do a lot of different things during those 15 years!!
I'm currently going through school to be a cop and will be joining the ANG as a Security bro and maybe trying my hand at JTAC. I appreciate the vid man

Would you be willing to make a video describing how it’d be joining the Air Force married and with a child? The benefits behind it, living on a base etc. I’d appreciate it ! 🤙🏼
I'd recommend watching Kyle Gott, he has videos about Married life and Single life in the Air Firce. Try doing a general search on RUclips with the phrase married life in the air force Kyle Gott. He's legit, he was in for 6 years and just got out in 2018. He's a no vs type
@@GyatBori Really? Why is that? I felt he was pretty legit, straight forward, no long intro and outro, pretty much in and out and speaks directly to many questions such as married life with children etc. Just a bit shocked that you said you dont like his videos
Define hassle. I am about to take my ASVAB and I am thinking about doing Security Forces but two of my friends that are in it right now, do not like the job.
There's a lot that he did not cover but he was right about every base is completely different in many different ways. It depends on the type of command that oversees them. It depends on the resources that are available at that base. The one thing I will definitely disagree on is going on my days off to do any type of training. something I've never agreed with they should do it while you're working. I was stationed over at Hill Air Force Base. We were responsible for a separate area about an hour northwest of the main base. And we also had the UTTR which is our bombing range. I've had the opportunity to run code for plane crashes all the way out in the middle of nowhere almost 2 hours away. Our base also had a thing called concurrent jurisdiction. Our jurisdiction intertwined with the local law enforcement so if we pursued off base we can still go after them we would eventually turn them over to locals though. Our base was mixed security and law enforcement. One day you could be doing security another day you can be doing law enforcement.
Deployments depend on where you go, korea is pretty chill for a year tho its always different every year since the rules change every so often. middle east sucks but its doable. marines and army have it much worse and you can handle warm weather and standing in a shack for 8 hours
Hola from the Caribbean Island Puerto Rico☆ right now I just pass asvab, Meps and I'm was about to join but because I have a baby 2 years old (still breastfeed) I'm not sure if go Active or reserve... Im having a hard time choosing, MP in the Army, or Security Forces in the Air Force. I come from a military family, my dads side is Army, my moms is Air force.
Do whatever you wanna do, same thing, my dad was Army and he told me he’d rather see me in the Air Force cause we have better benefits and I mean chow is da bomb!
Army is different, real different. In a lot of army MOS’s you’ll do more than 1 job. Not in the Air Force. It me up on IG if you wanna chat. @kyledantoni
can you pick what you do in security forces or are you just put somewhere like i want to be in the law enforcement unit of security forces is that a choice i could make?
I assume not. The Air Force and Navy do their law enforcement/SecFor training at Lackland AFB. The Army and Marines do MP training and Fort Leonard Wood. So, Wrong channel if you wanna know about Marines. But my guess is that the curriculum/pipeline and training is very similar. It's obviously composed of law enforcement, weapons, land nav, light infantry tactics, room clearing, OC, and all similar stuff. I don't see there being much, if any difference. All Marines do MCT (a short infantry training) prior to their MOS school regardless of what it is, so in general Marines would have nominally more infantry training (by about six weeks when you count their longer boot camp and MCT school). But it really doesn't matter all that much. If you wanna do law enforcement, any of the branches would suffice. Just pick the branch based on the uniforms, culture, and base locations that you like better. If you wanna do medical or intelligence, then definitely avoid Marines.
The only thing that changed with tech school is that they get oc sprayed, and they do night firing. I was in tech school when the course changed. Also if you need someone to talk about the nuclear side of SF hmu on insta @vyastrzab and I can tell you about the nuclear side of SF
Does the security force guard the inner facility of Area 51? I know the Airforce implements contractors for outside perimeter security, however who guards inside the facility?
thats a great question that I don't know the answer to lol. im sure it would be joint security over there with other branchesd etc... not just the air force
DarkNinja x my advice would be to take some practice tests for the asvab to see where you stand... and research any other jobs you would be interested in. The step after that would be to go speak to a recruiter!
One of the biggest scams pulled on young first enlistment military men and women, is getting yourself in debt with a car that in the real world would be beyond your means. That money is your future, save it now or you’ll regret not doing so in the future. I’m dealing with a brother-in-law who is 50 years old and living in his 85 year old mothers garage. Seriously

More security forces videos!! Good video
Could u do a day in the life of SF?
OvO Tyler that’s a great idea bro 🤔🙌🏽
Security forces is NOT SF lmao don’t ever say that
day in life as security forces.
@@DirtBall18 But the patch is "sf" as security forces not special forces
@@DirtBall18 SF is shirt for Security Forces. Sorry the acronym is the same as Special Forces.
Yes! This is exactly what I’ve been wanting!! Thank you for another great video!
Could you do a video with him on how to go into being a canine handler?
Jayden Sprank glad you enjoyed it! I’ll see what we can do 🤞🏽
Actually starts at 2:40 yw

Nice backdrop...National Harbor. Was one of my favorite hangouts when I was stationed at Bolling.
Stationed there for 6 years...97 to 03....so cool to see it again
Missile security is completely dependent on the base you're at. No you're not stuck with that job for the rest of your career.
I’m coming from the Army National Guard to AD Air Force as security forces.. Honestly I’m pretty excited
How ? I thought the Air Force wasn't taking any prior service members . How hard it was it ?
Barbell brigade hoody. I see you lol.

How about a video on more Security Forces specialties? (DAGRE, Tactical Response Team, Close Precision Engagement Teams, etc.)
BDG and CRG some of the different units as well

Don't forget Investigations
When I was in the USAF (1984-89) I was in the Security Police/LE (AFSC 81152 (yes I still remember my code)). Back then you could go into LE right out of basic but things have changed. I was glad to be in LE instead of security because I got to do vehicle patrol (back when they had V8 Ford LTD cop cars). Then at Clark AB, Philippines I did Town Patrol which was quite the experience.
nice! what is LE? your service is appreciated Chris
My GREATEST instructor EVER was a Marine Gunnery Sergeant at FT Dix NJ. Taught me a lot about being a FORCE for peace.
Great video man, this is one of the jobs I'm interested in when I go Air Force. I'd love more SF content!
good to know! thanks for watching Jameson
Brady Nuñez thanks for the content bro!
It seems to be the least liked in most all of the career choices. But it was the very first that peaked my interest amongst the others I’ve been researching.
I need to be up and going or else I’ll get this feeling of guilt. It’s something I genuinely want to do despite the effort I’ll have to put in
Did you manage to get in?
I did 8 yrs as an SP.... now SF. Stationed at 4 bases... yes you do meet people from other squadrons.. plus i played softball on and off base.
Why cant I find any videos of whats its like to by MP at Area 51.
Awesome video man! I ship out for bmt on April 2nd and my number one choice was security forces and that’s what I got so I would definitely love to see more SF content! Keep up the awesome videos bro!
Richard Gleason same here!! April 2nd, 🤩 good luck!

Richard Gleason definitely! 😄👍🏼👍🏼
same here i ship out april 2nd also
Christian Hambright sweet bro! You security forces?

I loved it
you should do another video with more information about security forces
Carolina Regalado wow! What a babe!😍
Please make another video for security forces
definitely will get around to doing that! any aspect in particular you want to see?
Thank you man for this helpful
I'm leaving for BMT this summer and my job is Security Forces
Do you gotta have a criminal justice degree before u can do security forces or can you just go straight outta high school? I’m a soon to be junior.
My family used to be stationed on Ft. Meade. My dad was Public Affairs.
I was born on Ft. Meade and graduated High School there.
12 days until Basic left. For SF! Hope I get Andrews!! Because I live 45 mins away lol

I'd recommend watching Kyle Gott, he has videos about Married life and Single life in the Air Firce. Try doing a general search on RUclips with the phrase married life in the air force Kyle Gott. He's legit, he was in for 6 years and just got out in 2018. He's a no vs type

Another thing is when you promote and hassle your chain, you could also be attached to SFOSI and work the investigations side of the house.

How do you get into the k-9?
In 87 ,I volunteered right out of tech school. I think it is different now.
What is deployment like for security forces. And is tech school similar to the police academy?
great questions... thanks Denzell
Deployments depend on where you go, korea is pretty chill for a year tho its always different every year since the rules change every so often. middle east sucks but its doable. marines and army have it much worse and you can handle warm weather and standing in a shack for 8 hours
Depends on the mission. High-speed shit, outside the wire etc, cc 820th base down at Moody.
What is the ASVAB score requirement for the Air Force? For military police.
It ties with becoming a cook. It's where they dump people who flunk other tech schools. be ready to be painfully bored guarding gates.
Great video bro!
Do y’all also go to war or stay to protect the base???
What lol I see this guy he scans my cac..
Michael Ott haha he’s the homie
When I was in the Air Force we were security police I was in SAC which most of the new guys know anything about .
what was your asvab text score. so i know what to shoot for when taking it. because i am interested in security forces
Berlin Larson at least like 105 in GT score then make the requirement of 36 on your asvab

Can Airforce MP or any MP carry off base from state to state?
do you have any info on security forces for the Marines?
Also if you need someone to talk about the nuclear side of SF hmu on insta @vyastrzab and I can tell you about the nuclear side of SF
appreciate the feedback! thats good to know

Go to your nearest recruiter and you'll get all your questions answered. Like what your first step would be!
Does the security force guard the inner facility of Area 51? I know the Airforce implements contractors for outside perimeter security, however who guards inside the facility?
thats a great question that I don't know the answer to lol. im sure it would be joint security over there with other branchesd etc... not just the air force
good video guys
I want to join the Air Force after high school and do security forces what advice do you have for me
DarkNinja x my advice would be to take some practice tests for the asvab to see where you stand... and research any other jobs you would be interested in. The step after that would be to go speak to a recruiter!
My advice is Go Navy and be a Navy cop..... The schoolhouse for Navy Master at Arms is also on Lackland AFB
