Oh, Nancy, be careful about that "I'll do that when I retire," stuff. My first 5-6 months I slept a lot, and spent a passle of time worrying about "what I should be doing," especially on Sunday afternoons. But, that said, retirement is wonderful and if you let us know when your last day is we will lift a glass, or mug, or cup in your honor! (I'm a history nerd, too!)
I love the greens you have chosen for "Courage". I always love seeing your stitching choices because you have such a variety. The Celtic banner is beautiful. I love the calligraphy lettering. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! You will love it. I retired in 2022 and was finally able to devote a lot more time to stitching since I wasn't staring at a computer screen for 40 hours a week!
First time viewer here. I have my threads on rings on a peg board and have had no problems. I am retired and I love it! I get to stitch all I want and I really enjoy seeing goals met. I married a younger man, so my time is mine. Banner, barn.
Hi Nancy, I love your Quakers. 👏👏👏 When you hang your floss, make a mini curtain to hang on top to protect them. I am so happy you made the decision to retire. Your knees will thank you. Health comes first. Happy Stitching and Quilting. ❤❤❤
I spotted your Wishniks on the upper shelf . I had those as a child about 55 years ago. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement and all your new adventures after ! Another great episode !
Congratulations! Retirement is great! Really enjoy your vids. Thank you! I love stitch New England. Pam is awesome. It’s about a 45 minute ride to her store from my town.
I love to listening to you. You are so relaxing. Congratulations with your retirement. I just retired. It has been a big adjustment for me. I love the banner. ❤
Hi Nancy love your summer Quaker, and your green threads for courage,I retired at the age of 62 was the best decision I ever made, you will so enjoy retirement👍Have a good week Thankyou for sharing 🇳🇿🪡❤️
Congrats on your upcoming retirement! You are getting some awesome progress on your projects. Your system seems to be working so far this year. I think the Celtic Banner pattern is gorgeous.
Hi Nancy, you asked who had experience with embroidery thread on a ring hung on the wall. I have all my yarn on rings on the wall and the sun can rise, but I solved that by hanging a piece of fabric in front of it so that no light gets in.
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! Lots of craft days ahead! Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I used to hang my DMC floss and it did fade terribly. It did get indirect east sun till about 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning. I took the time and bobbinated what I could save. I store it in a case now. We had Silver Maples once upon a time. Their roots will pop through your sod and make the ground bumpy. I’m just full of good news, aren’t I?!? Sorry! Happy stitching, Nancy!!❤
I'm going to have to go looking for "On Prudence"--the message is a good one. I like the greens you have chosen for the Courage Sampler--it's going to be beautiful. Banner. :-)
Loved your intro. My 2nd finish this year was a Prairie Schooler Santa. I think I have stitched almost half of them but no FFOs. 🤣I wonder what this years Santa will be. Your project cards are very cute. Your over one looked very nice. 👏
Ya retirement!!!! i am close I love barns to sew or stitch . hOW fun to have a student teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with future teachers. Hugs
I did mine in purples in memory of my sister who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer and I am adding family members initials who beat or lost their battles with assorted cancers.
Congratulations on your retirement decision; it's a biggie, but if you know it's time, then it's time. And DO get your knees attended to sooner rather than later (if you can) so you can *enjoy* quality movement and travel to stitchy events in your retirement years. Be well, be happy, and keep those stitches crossed! Hugs from western Canada!
I hang my floss on a peg board which is on the wall that runs behind the door to the craft room so its behind the door most of the time I also keep the shades pulled in that room unless I am working in there so nothing fades (before the blinds I had fabric fad really bad and boy was I sad) Excited to meet you at SNE in the fall. Congratulation on the retirement decision - good for you!
It was great seeing what you have been working on. I hope the school year flies by for you. I am hoping to retire in two years, but I am not holding my breath!
Love your vids!! I’m thinkin you need to change your flosstube name. Wow, it’s official, you will be a free woman soon. I recommend it! I retired the year of Covid! Love it. And thank you for sharing the loss of your nephews. I, too, have lost two family members. No more info needed. Take care of yourself!
Congratulations on your decision on retirement. I retired after 22 years in state government. It was the right decision for me and have no regrets. You will love it. 🤗
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! You will love retirement it’s the best! I’ll be at the Grace Notes retreat as well in august. I 🎉keep my fancy fosses on rings and hang the rings on coat hangers. And hang them in my closet so they aren’t in direct sunlight. At CAT’s festival one year I was talking to one of the store owners who had a booth there and they said never store the overdoes in direct sunlight as the sun would fade them. Now that was years but I have never felt safe to have them stored in direct sun.
I was searching Flosstubes for something to watch as I frogged all my work from yesterday because I started in the wrong place. Anyhow started watching you and discovered you are a Packer fan - Yea!. Live in Wisconsin so definitely am one. And cheering for the Lions now because they deserve a chance at our happiness. You apparently love Quaker - so do I. You are a quilter - so am I. So I guess I am hooked. Anyhow have not often commented on Flosstubes but decided to do so this time just to tell you of my interests and my interest in Banner. Love it. Thanks for your interesting Flosstube and just talking to us like friends around your table. Will watch the rest as I have time.
I put some of my specialty & silk floss onto metal rings, then onto a wooden dowel rod, that is held up on the back of my craft room door with those 3M hooks that can be removed in the future. No sun can get to them if the door is open :)
Your last year should be a banner year! You'll be able to spend some time in your own hen den or even the yarn barn ( don't know if you crochet or knit but yard rhymes with barn) I'm the one you didn't hear from that Barn chart! I've written you an email explaining what happened. I don't want you to think I just didn't follow through.vim seriously bummed that happened!
Hi Nancy, Another great video. I noticed right off the bat that the shelves behind you had an intervention. I was wodering abot yout knee situation but you answered part of it by letting us know you are retiring at the end of the year. Congratulations!!! Are you planning on having knee surgery? I think you and I have a case of FOMO.. I’m 72 this year and every time a new pattern enters the house, my husband will say “Ann, another one?” My daughter will probably donate everything but you know what- cross stitch makes me happy and after I’m gone, I hope my donations will bring happiness to someone else. Happy Stitching from South Carolina!!! ann
Woohoo I was needing a stitchy friend to talk to this afternoon. And there you were. I am cleaning out and getting rid of cross stitch patterns I will never use. I have made a huge mess if all the things!
I wanted to hang my floss on the wall as well - to solve the dust/light issue, I bought 2 quilted placemats from Goodwill, stitched them together put a grommet in each top corner & the center & hung it on top of my floss rings. It’s easy to remove when I need to & replace when I am finished. (I need easy). It’s pretty too.
I was wondering how that short piece of wall right behind you would be for a pegboard - it looks like it would be tucked in the corner away from windows? Glad you’re using the floss drops!😉
I love cross stitching because it allows me to express my creativity and is relaxing. I love the barn and the Celtic banner design, which represents my passion for these type of pieces.
Hi. I was thinking about. Your windows. Do they have blinds on them? You could keep them closed when sun is shining on your board. OR... Put something over your board and take it away when using floss. Congratulations on your decision to retire. I think you will be happy

Good show! Best wishes on your retirement! You will love it…speaking as a retired teacher/librarian of 38 years. 😍
