Loved this parade! Thank you for sharing your personal story. It resonates with us all. For first time ever I am trying Long Dogs Fish and Chips as well thanks to a new friend. Thanks again for video!!❤
Hi Nancy. Love a good WIP parade and yours didn't disappoint! So many beautiful projects. I thought that when I retired that I would finish all the things, but in reality, I started all the things🤣 The struggle is real but in the end, it's makes me happy so I'm good with all my current WIP's:)
I am mostly a monogamous stitcher so I’m afraid I can’t help you too much. Sorry. I do like Karen, The Recovering Monogamous Stitchers, plan. She lists all of her WIPs in the order that she started them. Then she spends seven days a month, not necessarily in a row, and works on her oldest WIP. When she finishes it, she writes the date that she finishes it beside it, and then she goes to her next oldest WIP. She works on one particular WIP, which she calls her focus piece, seven days a month until it’s finished. That way she says she doesn’t have any WIPs languishing. She also loves stitching on red work. She works on a red sampler three days a month. Karen does show a lot of progress on her pieces the way she plans this. I think she also has a dark 13th where she will work on a Halloween project, and I believe she works on a Prairie Schooler Santa on the 25th of the month. She is also picking her quilting back up, she does her quilting in the mornings and her cross stitching in the afternoons, which I think I’m going to try. Good luck!
I am new to your channel. This is what I do with my projects. I only have 30-31 so I give all of my projects some love so I do 1 a day and I stitch 200 stitches on them and then if I have time I will crochet or knit or garden. I think you should Sew on Saturdays with your bags and open your Etsy shop for sure. Your bags are awesome. Depending on how much time you have during the day you could do 100 stitches per project and see how many you can do in a day. I do not play the games like WIPGO because I give my projects love per day. I watch Jenn The Caffeinated Crafter and she has like over 300 projects and the way she does her projects is awesome. It looks like a lot of work to organize all her boards but she is so fun to watch. I have learned that if you do not like to stitch on something then give it away. I got rid of all of my Plastic Canvas books and yarn for it because it has sat for a very long time and I know I will not go back to it at my age of 66. I am slowing up so I have to enjoy what I am making or I will not continue with it. Love all your projects so have fun organizing your projects and doing what you love. Happy Stitching.
Fun wip parade. I nearly always keep one large project going, one kinda a medium size and 1 or 2 smalls. That's about all I can do without driving myself nuts. I can't stand to not get them done often enough. The large one will usually last through the medium (or 2) and 2-3 smalls. Everyone has to just do what feels good to herself in this, our hobby! I enjoy your visits, Girlfriend!
Nancy, I think you're doing the right thing in waiting to make your decisions on your projects. You haven't had the chance to learn your new normal. Your retirement and surgery has changed your life and schedule. If you open a shop you could always sale bags and pillows with partial charts. Your time is your own, enjoy it..... love your videos, Veronica.
You sure do have a bunch of beautiful WIP’s Nancy! It was fun to see what you are working on! I would be so overwhelmed, as I tend to be pretty monogamous! I’d sort them by the ones that are close to being able to be finished, and work on them as a focus piece, and insert others as I felt in the mood to work on! It is tough because it seems that every day there is a new SAL, or the designers come out with so many new things that we all want to start them! I think the designers need to take at least a year off and maybe we could all get caught up LOL! The struggle is real!! Keep working away, happy stitching!
I do keep track of everything that I work on each day. I have a book that has the month first and then followed by a page of weekly days. I decided this year that I did not want to do Wipgo but wanted to work on what I felt like. O the month page I write down things like Patriotic on the 4th, Halloween on the 13 and/or 31, Christmas on the 25. It can be any piece that fits those categories and can be different each month and/or do more that one. I also set goals for myself. This year it is to do 2 finishes and 2 new starts each month. On the weekly page by day I write the things that I work on and the bottom I put down floss tubes that I have watched. I like all of this because it gives me an overview of what is going on with my stitching.
So glad to see your projects. You and I have many of the same charts. I saw some that I had forgotten I had! You know what that means…I have to go find them and get them started!!!!
I am currently working on One Nation too. I only have 3 1/2 states to go. I will finish today. Once you start doing the states, it goes pretty quick. Looking forward to your progress. Jan
You’re so blessed to have your mom’s Featherweight! I have my mom’s Elna, which I cherish 🥰 I don’t know what ever became of any of her older machines but I know she had them.
I enjoyed your WIP parade. Seeing The Shores of Hawk Run Hollow both in this and the last video got me working on mine again. All I have left is fill in for the water in the first square. I’m glad you mentioned that 927 has a dye lot change. I wondered why I had a lighter one and a darker one so I guess I’m not crazy. Before you give either of your WIPS away that aren’t floating your boat, think about it so you don’t have any regrets.
Hi. I love love your beautiful wips! Your work is gorgeous. I have just a few wips. I don't. Like having wips. I would finish the Teresa kogut piece. It is very nice. Your family growing up sounds like my family and probably most families. I too take an antidepressant. I'm not ashamed at all. I'm glad it is helping. ❤
Hello Nancy, just found you and enjoyed this video very much, thank you! On your undecideds... ask would I start this today? sometimes we change, our tastes change, and if you're not delighted to see something again after some time in storage, let it go. also... I do a bit of embroidery, and find that a single thread of outline (backstitch, etc) BEFORE doing satin stitch helps a great deal in keeping it tidy. I missed what you said about what threads/count you were using, but an outline and an embroidery needle might be just the thing. Best wishes. xoxo
Thanks for the wip parade, Nancy! You have some very beautiful stitching in those pretty bags. There are too many beautiful patterns out there and I want to stitch them all! In the mean time, I just do one x at a time and try to enjoy them while thinking about the next one I want to stitch! Take care and happy stitching!
You have some great WIPS! I only stitch Xs, not interested in any fancy stitches, French knots or satin stitch and all my projects look great. Happy stitching!
Hi Nancy enjoyed your WIP parade great variety of projects,I am an older person with about 25 WIPS and so I made a decision not to buy any charts this year and get into finishing some of my WIPS,I have at least 8 fully kitted projects ready to start🤦🏼♀️and yes it does overwhelm me,I am feeling better about my decisions,so there are times when you just say enough! and do what you got to do…..Thanks for sharing ❤️🇳🇿🪡
Beautiful WIPs . I have about 20 WIP's , but my thought is that if I bought it I should start it. Just money sititng in the drawer. It's my hobby, no pressure. I juist enjoy the stitch.
When I retired eight years ago I had a number of cross stitch WIPS and a number of quilting WIPS. I decided to try to take one small project or one that had a finish in site along with a project in each that was larger. I then worked on the smaller projects with the idea of finishing them before I worked on another small project. The larger ones I worked on until I just needed a break from them. By doing this I have greatly reduced the number of projects I have in progress. The projects I had kitted up (didn’t know if I wanted to do them or not) I kept for a few years and was surprised on how I changed my mind about them. It has taken me along time but now I feel that I have my crafts under control and organized…….when I taught I was organized at school but not so organized in my craft life.
Dont give away your wips. Put them away for awhile so you dont have any regrets. I finally let go of my oldest wip from 2016. Eight years is long enough for me. Get back on Lady of The Flag. Stitch it every Tuesday. That's a good day to work on a patriotic piece. Have a great day. Happy Stitching.
Love the video and need to do this myself to try and get focused. If you are unsure about continuing with a project, keep it a while longer. Until you feel like it HAS TO GO, you could decide to work on it in the future.
Nancy, I hear you. I also am an Adult Child of an ALCOHOLIC and often describe myself as someone who comes from a long line of distinguished drunks. I mean you may as well laugh as cry...right 😊 I am also what my doctor calls a natural caregiver and I'm not going to change. I suggest you give yourself some (a lot) of grace ❤ Tuck those whips away and revisit it another day. I myself have an under the bed box and I rotate them every time I get curious about what's in box. As for WHIPGO, Boss Me....I fail everytime, I never know who I'm going to beday to day or week to week...and that's okay. I make a list of 8 projects and 3 alternates with no real goals other than I have these projects to pick from and it seems to work. I also let myself start one or two new projects. These can be quilting, stitching...whatever. Rules will never work for me and I know. If I fail this month, then I start fresh next month, no strings just hard won Grace. Being happy is not easy and there is no prescribed path, so I aim for peace of mind and often fall short. That's okay, stand up, dust off and begin again with 3 stitches or 3000...it doesn't matter, just begin again ❤ I hope my wordiness helps, I have been on this path to myself for quite a long time now and two weeks ago I was as low as I could go... we've got this ❤ Take care and I'll be here waiting for your new adventure 😊
I'd finish vs re-home, just continue to the right, get the word Joy in and call it a day. Cute WIPs & project bags, I need a coffee themed as I run on caffeine. I just ordered a few more DDG bags. It's so hard for me to Not do New Starts & SALs but I must get my WIPS under control. I only have 2 Boards, can't imagine 3.
Can’t help you much. I’m mostly monogamous; although I have several started. I tend to consistently work on one project once I get the threads out. Besides, you learn the symbols and swapping gets confusing. I’ve joined a couple of SALs for the first time and it’s bothering me to have to set aside a project to get something else out. My stitchy spot is a mess. Yep, I’ve got a Longaberger laundry basket full of project bags. I’ll figure it out, but I won’t be joining anymore SALs! Then there is wool appliqué and embroidery projects…
I keep my wips ,mostly HAEDs in a bin and rotate through them. I work on each one until I’m tired of it or the next one starts calling to me. It takes the stress out of deciding which to work on and they all get attention.
I use the Notion app with the template from Stitchy Nati to track my daily stitching. In the calendar view I can see how many days I've stitched each month and in the project view I can see how many days I've worked on that specific project
I was touched with your family story. I am from the same type of family. I’m the oldest and I was the care giver. I would keep going and find another thing that is a good anchor point to work from. Where is you get your pockets that are on your bags with the info on them. Also what do you use to give you bags such great body?
Could your Erin Elizabeth piece be used to make a project bag? Don’t do anymore below where you are and just finish the right side. Just a thought. Can’t wait to meet you in Allentown.
If I like it and not sure if I love it. I always picture when it’s done were am I going to put it. If I can not picture the perfect place. I would then be done.
