Hey everyone! This was a requested video specifically on the “Cardi B Hair Mask”. Though this type of mask has been around for awhile, in this video I’m sharing how some of these great ingredients that she chose with the specific oils she used within the mask benefits our hair. Enjoy!!
I think the oils in this mask are great but its missing a few for me? And i think a butter like shea butter liquid can help and an aloe Vera pre’poo should be done first. My mix has a lot of ingredients and takes time and it one weekly. On clean hair not cowash hair. Cowashing is for you to do as needed. Clean scalp for your mask days or best. Shine on star fish beautiful ladies. Grow those follicles. Yay us.
It most likely works better on the inside anyway lol I use avocado oil because I don't care to waste actual food on the outside, because I heard that what you do on the inside eventually shows on the outside.
Ikr...I consume all these ingredients. So I'll quicker eat them, than put them in my hair. Back in the days, in my relaxed hair days. I would use egg and mayo as a hair treatment. No more.😏...🤦🏾♀️
I used to use this hair mask back in college (no mayo or eggs) and I just used some hydrolyzed wheat protein I had from green beauty. My hair loved it!
Girl see this what I love abt you sis,yo intro is barely an intro you get str8 into the vid nd its super quick YET,keyword YET,you do provide us w/ ALL the info,LOVE YOU,plus yk yo stuff🖤🖤💋👑👑👑👑
Love this! I haven't tried this hair mask in particular because I rather eat my avocados for how much they cost in my area. My favorite hair DIY is an oil pre-poo of any combination of the following: coconut oil, olive oil, honey, aloe vera.
I usually do avocado, mayo, egg and oils of my choice. My curls comes out defined. Last wash day I wanted to try her mask added the banana and honey to it. My hair was so soft and moisturized very manageable and once again my curls was defined. I’m definitely going to start doing this mask instead
It must be the nerd in me because I ❤️ your scientific breakdown! I tried it. My hair wasn't necessarily softer than it would be w/a regular deep conditioner.
Coconut, grape seed, almond, peppermint, rosemary, hemp, olive, etc., oils, and apple cider vinegar, and aloe vera are all food... and in most natural hair products
Cardi is rich. Probably has a chef to cook her healthy good. She STILL uses this mask, to work from the outside in and eats healthy from the inside out. I would only eat these ingredients in lovkdown though.
Can you do a video about how to know your hair type and also a separate video on the basics/ what you need in a hair care routine and what comes after what and how to properly wash hair I love ur videos ♥️
I did it last Saturday..I used it as a prepoo and left it on overnight...washed and deep conditioned my hair the next day and it was extra soft...less tangled...I substituted some oils though (used olive oil, grape seed, coconut oil)
My current favorite pre poo is my DIY one... Aussie moist conditioner , moringa powder , fenugreek or amla powder and 🥑 oil. I normally mix henna powder into my deep conditioners but this week I did a DIY henna mask with : henna (obv lol) , my diy carrot oil and DIY tea rinse /leave in ( green tea, cloves& nettle leaf ) and surpringly my hair didn't feel too dry afterwards.
I’ve been super into Sherea delSol’s DIY’s for the past year! I would love to see you talk about AYURVEDICS especially for hair strengthening. Sidenote: it’s interesting that it’s 2020 and people still don’t know proteins need to be hydrolyzed to be effective, the egg/mayo protein for hair was debunked years ago. Cardi is too rich to not research what she is doing to her hair and advocating to her fans that blindly follow lol
But Ancient Aryveda (Indian Science invented before Western Science) has been using eggs, and mayonnaise in their concoctions for centuries. Cardi is on to something. 💁🏻♀️ If these things didn't work, indian/South Asian wigs wouldn't exist. Of course Western Science will tell you these things don't work. That way, you'll buy their chemical laden products, kill your hair, buy another product to fix that. Which kills you hair again. Embrace the fridge for your head. Lolz Everyone will be baffled, as to why your REAL hair looks like an actual wig. 💖 Your hair, will be as full as your bank account. 💃
Hey Tonya, can you please talk more about those homemade protein treatments, I been always using eggs as protein treatment. Didn't know it doesn't penetrate the hair 😣. And I'm sure I'm not the only one lol!
I just can’t get into putting food in my hair- especially egg & avocado, that’s breakfast!! I have other thoughts about this concept that I struggle to not be rude about lol OTOH I’m intensely interested in Ayurvedic powders, teas, & oils. They make way more sense to me 🤷🏾♀️
The first time I did this mask my hair was so amazingly soft!! I think I left it on for an hour. The second time I did this mask I left in on for two hours and it didn't turn out great so I think that was too long for me. I'm going to try it again soon because my hair is so dry!
Hi, I've tried this hair mask twice and my hair loves it, so I have incorporated it into my bi weekly wash day...Thanks for the break down of the ingredients...🦋
Interesting video! Also, could you talk about function of beauty? It's hard to find not sponsored videos of it and I would love to hear the opinion of a profesional! :D
Great video! I have tried DIYs, especially when money is tight. 🙂 My favourite is of course my homemade marshmallow root and flaxseed gel. I have a gelatine dirty pre-poo I use, but the weirdest I have done is a skin mask that I then used on my scalp and pre-poo scalp treatment: yoghurt with tumeric and used coffee granules. For my face the idea is the probiotic nature of the yoghurt will help with the skin biome, the tumeric is said to be brightening. But for my scalp I used it mainly because I felt I had stripped my scalp and the natural skin barrier needed replenishment. Don’t know if it worked, but my shower was YELLOW! 🤣 🤣
I remember my auntie using mayonnaise as a deep conditioner in our hair and eggs. As separate conditioners though. I have used a combo of: avocado, bananas, coconut oil, olive oil, honey, and an egg. It made my hair soft, stronger, and barely any hair came out during the washing. So less breakage. I'll have to do it again once I take this crochet out after my contract ends. I'm expecting some breakage. I've never left it in this long before, 13 weeks😓.
Luuuuuuuv DIY! Haven't/won't try this one cuz of the mayo & egg. But my fave is to soak fenugreek seeds and a lil hibiscus in aloe Vera juice overnight, then strain out the liquid and blend up the soaked seeds with it till it becomes like a custard consistency...then strain and add in some extra goodness (like tea, honey, oil, etc.)😍🙌🏾
Hey Tonya!! Loved this... I've heard that some natural products can change the texture of the hair, especially henna. I've also heard that chebe can bring texture back. Is either true?
I have used just 1 avocado 🥑 , 1 egg 🥚, and olive oil (haven’t tried it with the other ingredients, but will try... my hair LOVES HONEY 🍯) and I have tried the brand Kurl-le-belle deep treatment banana nut “something” mask and that one is a great mask. As far as the diy, I like to use it as a pre-poo. It instantly moisturizes the hair and it’s a great detangler!
The crazy part is I just happened to see a video about someone talking about her hair mask. I literally used all these ingredients on my own. One day I threw a whole bunch of stuff together and it was this recipe but coconut oil instead. It helped to get my damaged hair back on track and thicken it back up.
I do something similar but i use organics hair mayonaise with bananas, avocado, fenegreek powder, castor oil, coconut oil , neem oil and grapeseef oil with essential oils as well
I don't have a question regarding this video but I have a couple of video suggestions for "natural hair dummies" like myself. 😂 First off, glycerin/honey as humectants. I've seen some naturals who only use in Summer months when humidity is high claiming if you use in the Winter there's no moisture and it will dry your hair out. Some even look at the dew point to determine if they should use either that particular day. What's what when it comes to glycerin/honey as humectants? I get so confused sometimes. Second video suggestion. I'm low porosity and I've been using a rice water rinse every other week for the past two months. It's been working very well for me thus far but interested to get your feedback. Can this take the place of a protein treatment or should I incorporate a "real" protein treatment in my regimen? I've always always avoided protein treatments because im low porosity but noticed I wasn't retaining length. Since I started the rice water rinse every other week I'm retaining length but want to make sure I'm doing things correctly. I truly value your feedback and if you could address my concerns in a video or reply to my comment I would be most appreciative. Thank you much. 😊
@@CurlyChemistry I have always been curious about how to do a hot oil treatment. Do we do it on dirty or pre-washed hair? Would you still DC after a hot oil treatment? @@christine1962ful Hi I have been doing oil treatments for years. You do it before your shampoo so on dirty dry hair. You can add water first, a little bit if it helps you manage your hair better and you need to keep the oil for a long time (better if you sleep in) under plastic wrap to have a green house effect). No need to use a lot of oil, a little is enough. You'll notice your hair is more manageable, it has more elasticity, it detangles easily, it retains moisture more easily. Because of all of that it breaks less easily too. If you use coconut or sesame oil it makes your hair stonger too. For moisture only I use a very good quality organic olive oil. It's amazing. I tried with cheap and lower quality oils and the result is not the same at all. Hope it helps :-)
@@CurlyChemistry enhee, now that you mention it. There are two types of hibiscus out there, Roselle that is used as drink, and those beautiful flowers 🌺 Which one of those we supposed to use on the hair?
Hi, this is my DIY mask that I apply to clean hair and leave it on overnight: 1 tbsp each of neem, henna, amla, aloe vera, kelp and moringa powders; 1 tbl of castor oil and lecithin; 5 drops each rosemary , lavender and peppermint essential oils. I add this to my conditioner and mix until it is a pudding consistency. I place a plastic bag and a scarf on my head and rinse it out with cool water the next day. What do you think?
A question: isn't it bad to not wash off these natural kitchen masks with shampoo instead of just rinsing it out? Because that stuff on scalp can leave residue that causes fungal growth.... What's your opinion on this point? Thank you in advance.
Very informative video! Quick chemistry question, can unflavored gelatin (like the Knox brand) or another DIY be used as an alternative for a protein treatment?
If I use avocado, I make sure it's baby food and one jar of the baby food or I use the banana one for protein. I use this like twice a year mixed with Crisco or lard and oil to make an emulsified protein solution
Informative as usual. I usually use ayurvedic powders and oils to make a mask or deep conditioner. I have an aversion to certain smells so can’t use the ingredients in this mask.
I have not tried Cardi's hair mask and I don't think I will because I don't like eggs in my hair. My moisture deep conditioners are DIYs depending on my hair's needs. But for protein mask I use ORS mayonnaise. My staple is my DIY aloe vera oil with essential oils.
I see an avocado, I want sushi. I see an egg, I want ramen or breakfast. I see a banana, I want to eat it. I would love to try it but, I like food and seeing it makes me want to eat 😂 I’m trying to lose weight 😂
Hi I just subscribe! I don’t know why I’m just now finding out your channel, I’m a lover of science so thank u very much! Also can you do a video on how to care for baby’s hair and if you can mix oils. My baby’s hair mostly in the back and only center section of her head tends to get tangled or “nappy” allll the time, I recently just stopped washing her hair often and I been either coating it with coconut oil, vitamin e oil and jojoba oil. Sometimes I put castor oil on myelf and whatever is left over in my hands I would run into her hair don’t want to put too much since she is only 1 years old. Please and thank u in advance !
I'm going use it as an hair mask to moisturize and soften my hair and still do my regular protein treatment. And i'm not going add eggs to it cause yes it's a protein but it not penetrating my strands at them end of the day.
I’ve heard that using fresh produce like avocado/bananas on the hair isn’t beneficial since our hair doesn’t have a digestive system and isn’t able to break down/absorb the nutrients from the fresh fruits and veggies. I promise I don’t mean to come off rude I’m just genuinely curious about whether this is true or not.
Hi ! I hope you see this comment ! I watched your high porosity hair video and found a shampoo with a 5.5 ph the only issue is that the second ingredient is sodium laureth sulfate 🙁 should I not use it ? Thank you in advance for your help ❤️
Would you review the chemical composition of Chebe and ambunu? I am really curious. Everything I have seen is antidotal. I know that ambunu is moisturizing, I think chebe is a strengthener. Thanks a bunch.
Hello Miss Tonya! My name is Sam (Male) from Comoros Islands,East Africa. Final year student Bachelor of Pharmacy in India. During the beginning of this pandemic,I though that was the perfect time to grow my hair (03/03/2020-19/12/202) for the first time. I wanted to give a chance to my hairs to express themselves by growing naturally, and the result shocked me. I have ever seen this type of hair before(4b? 4c? 4a?...); they are basically Afro and Curly at the time. (They’re still Afro but growing curly by themselves naturally, dried or moisturized with water) I am trying hard to find the best products but I can not ,your help and suggestions are highly welcomed. Thanks you!
Thank you for this video. Very interesting. Could you please explain if this diy mask is better than otc hair masks? Or can I just buy a similar product with preservatives so I don't have to make it myself and use it all up in one go.
I love this and want to try it, however, it drives me crazy when they do give the amount of oils, etc. to use. The egg, avocado, banana, is obvious. But how much mayonnaise, olive oil, castor oil, etc. Do you have a suggestion? Thanks much...lov you and YOUR beautiful hair.
I haven't tried this particular one. I have used banana in my hair after watching Curly Proverbs video. It was a nightmare it took a week to wash it all out of my hair. I probably left it in too long.
I mixed up a batch to use in my hair but I’m afraid to use it so I put it in the freezer until I’m ready to use it. Plus my concern was the egg so that’s why I haven’t used it yet!
Could you please talk about DMDM Hydation? there is this lawsuit going on that it causes hairloss and I stared noticing my hairloss and I checked my shampoo and it has it! I am so scared that it damaged my hair forever😭
Do you use this hair mask every month or use it every wash day. Some people wash there hair every week other's every two weeks. Also can people who relaxed there hair use this hair mask if so how often. Thanks.
Can you do a video on DMDM hydatonin? There is a lawsuit right now for tresseme. People say it's toxic. It's also in my fav hair product. Should I stop using it?
Greetings, I am really frustrated because my hair makes knots when I condition my hair. I have tried several conditioners including Aussie's conditioner, Kera Care, TGIN DEEP penetrating conditioner, African Pride Conditioner, and I mixed eggs, mayo, avocado, and oil. All of which left me with knots hanging from my hair, and in between. It then comes out because I can't get the knots out. Yet when I pre shampoo it and add grapeseed oil to my preshampoo by African Pride, my hair does well. It does not knot up, and very little hair comes out. It's ONLY when I condition it there is a problem. I have natural FINE 4c, high porosity hair. My hair grows but it has not retained length. I was going to a hair dresser for 20 years, 1 time per month until she had a stroke. She would blow dry my hair and braid it down for a wig. She said blow drying made it more manageable. Now I am left doing my own hair these past couple of months during COVID. Do you have any advice?
I have HP hair and it likes the Shea moisture raw shea butter moisturizing conditioner, gives great slip. When I DIY, it likes a avocado and/or banana mask OR a mask of greek yoghurt + aloe vera gel + ayurvedic herbs (fenegreek, amla, hibiscus, moringa) + oils + honey. Softening, but strengthening at the same time.
use banana/advocado/almond oil in a thick conditioner on thin hair. Hair looks full bodied and healthier using this method, thus far. egg w/yolk actually makes hair go from black to off brown...interesting
I know this is off topic but I used “natural” hair products and my hair has been falling out for months ever since. Does any one know about this? Or has anyone experienced this? What did you do to stop it from falling out? I’m really worried it won’t stop falling out 😭😭😭😭😭😭

What do YOU think? How's it working for YOU?
@@chriscooks5437 my hair is thriving very well. The shedding stopped and I have learned how to retain my length,
I use ginger, honey, avocado, banana ,egg, olive & castor oil, lemon, As a hair mask.
Nope I haven't but loving what you told us not to do if we think bout using
You are amazing , beautiful and smart. Thanks for all your research
Thank you Robyn! I appreciate it! :-)
A question: isn't it bad to not wash off these natural kitchen masks with shampoo instead of just rinsing it out? Because that stuff on scalp can leave residue that causes fungal growth....
What's your opinion on this point?
Thank you in advance.
Yes I have tried it and ai love it. Best moisturizer for my hair. Mine since I have gotten older is very dry.
I eat my avocados, almost on daily basis. I love to eat them too much to put on my hair.
Informative as usual. I usually use ayurvedic powders and oils to make a mask or deep conditioner. I have an aversion to certain smells so can’t use the ingredients in this mask.
HI MS. LANE I ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO. PLEASE HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
Thank you Lolita! You too! :-)
I am currently trying it and yes I’m using my Afro heat steam and no scrambled eggs lol 😂 my curls are poppin
Very informative! Thank you.💜
You’re welcome!
I buy a ready-made mask. No time at all.
Lol understandable! Options are good!
How often can you use this mask? Thanks for this great review.
Hey! You can try it and see how your hair responds. If you begin to see your hair become frizzy or dry, then definitely discontinue usage. : -)
Curly Chemistry thank you so much for replying ! I actually love it so far so good. 😊
Would you review the chemical composition of Chebe and ambunu? I am really curious. Everything I have seen is antidotal. I know that ambunu is moisturizing, I think chebe is a strengthener. Thanks a bunch.
I use to use a lot of DIY concoctions on my hair and I did experience growth. But I don’t do it anymore.
Hello Miss Tonya!
My name is Sam (Male) from Comoros Islands,East Africa. Final year student Bachelor of Pharmacy in India.
During the beginning of this pandemic,I though
that was the perfect time to grow my hair (03/03/2020-19/12/202) for the first time. I wanted to give a chance to my hairs to express themselves by growing naturally, and the result shocked me. I have ever seen this type of hair before(4b? 4c? 4a?...); they are basically Afro and Curly at the time. (They’re still Afro but growing curly by themselves naturally, dried or moisturized with water)
I am trying hard to find the best products but I can not ,your help and suggestions are highly welcomed.
Thanks you!
How often would you recommend doing this hair mask? I do everything but Mayo and the oils. I do coconut oil, olive oil and aloe Vera. Is that ok?
If you’re into DIY’s, once a month is fine! Especially if you want to shake up your routine a bit. :-)
Thank you so much! Btw thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I really appreciate it! I pray you have a merry Christmas 🥰
Can you talk about the TRESemme law suit. Would love to hear your point of view.
Thank you for this video. Very interesting. Could you please explain if this diy mask is better than otc hair masks? Or can I just buy a similar product with preservatives so I don't have to make it myself and use it all up in one go.
Good info thanks 😊
I love this and want to try it, however, it drives me crazy when they do give the amount of oils, etc. to use. The egg, avocado, banana, is obvious. But how much mayonnaise, olive oil, castor oil, etc. Do you have a suggestion? Thanks much...lov you and YOUR beautiful hair.
Hey, I would like to know if you help businesses make formulations or do you only offer advice on already made formulas?
I haven't tried this particular one. I have used banana in my hair after watching Curly Proverbs video. It was a nightmare it took a week to wash it all out of my hair. I probably left it in too long.
I mixed up a batch to use in my hair but I’m afraid to use it so I put it in the freezer until I’m ready to use it. Plus my concern was the egg so that’s why I haven’t used it yet!
Understandable! :-) Definitely let us know if you decide to use it.
Could you please talk about DMDM Hydation? there is this lawsuit going on that it causes hairloss and I stared noticing my hairloss and I checked my shampoo and it has it! I am so scared that it damaged my hair forever😭
I asked her already! Ugh I'm waiting for a response
Awesome 👌 video as always. Would you recommend the mask be used on dry hair or shampoo 'd hair?
Shampooed hair :-)
Okay so what's a good protein treatment please?
@greenbeauty has a real protein treatment that is just the protein you can add into something else.
Hi. It seems to work really gud but can it b used for low porosity hair?
Yes it can! :-)
@@CurlyChemistry Thanks I look forward to trying it😁
Never did thismask. CloseatI getto DIY is aloe vera and oil detangler. Used to so bentonite clay masks too.
The hydrophilic and lipophilic states makes since.
Ms curly
Can we keep this on hair overnight?
I literally was just looking at her mask for her daughter like 5 days ago. Beauty youtubers must be buying our google data lol.
Lol 🤷🏾♀️
@@CurlyChemistry lol what ever helps you get these awesome educational videos out to those of us who need them.
Do you use this hair mask every month or use it every wash day. Some people wash there hair every week other's every two weeks. Also can people who relaxed there hair use this hair mask if so how often. Thanks.
I never clicked a video so fast 🤣😭💀
Thank you Aria! ☺️
Question. If you have left over can I store in fridge and use a week later?
Should you do these hair masks after shampoo?
I have tried this a lot(with different oils), sometimes without the eggs plus I add some honey
Can you still use a pre-poo on your hair if you have used grease as a sealant? Won't it block the moisture from getting into your hair?
Can I apply it on my scalp
Do I put the mask on before or after I wash and condition my hair?
use banana/advocado/almond oil in a thick conditioner on thin hair. Hair looks full bodied and healthier using this method, thus far.
egg w/yolk actually makes hair go from black to off brown...interesting
Black to off brown? Very interesting! 🤔
Is a mask done before you shampoo?
Can I buy it in the store already made up
I know this is off topic but I used “natural” hair products and my hair has been falling out for months ever since. Does any one know about this? Or has anyone experienced this? What did you do to stop it from falling out? I’m really worried it won’t stop falling out 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Maybe switch back to what you were using before?
@@marleyhill34 thank you a lot. Imma try doing that.
Is the aussie shampoo really bad for high parosity hair? Because I have a whole bottle I just bought 😭
Is rosemary good for low porosity hair?
