1. I started cleansing and conditioning weekly. This has encouraged tremendous growth for my hair.
2. I started using Grease to seal in the moisture from my leave-in and boy oh boy, my hair remained moisturised throughout, when I unravelled my hair, it didn't lose definition till I was ready to wash.
3. Hooded dryer has really made a my journey a blessed one.
That's all
Grease for the win EVERY TIMEEEEE
@@jonathanjack1000 Yes ooo
Hair grease changed the entire game for me!
What grease do you use?

A mix of aloe Vera, glycerin and a little leave in does the trick for me. I also use a steamer, but I got the clothes steamer I let it stand and just rotate my head around. Works well and cost less than a fraction of a hair steamer.
I got a machine for about a tenner on Ebay.
You do have to know what you are doing. But at least you know further down the line whether it is worth investing in a machine if and when you have the money.
Do you not find Aloe Vera smell to be quite unpleasant on the hair?
@@dseph7852 I buy the one already pre made from a health food store. To tell you the truth, I don’t smell it at all since it’s mixed with the conditioner. I just smell the conditioner really and if it bother you too much, you could add some essential oil if your choice.
@@dseph7852 I do! It stinks but I love how my hair behaves with it!

Investing in a shower filter was a game changer for me. My hair was always dry and breaking off. After getting the shower filter and clarifying my hair a few times to get rid of the HW minerals my hair is now soft and retains moisture. 😊👍🏽
Yay! So glad the shower filter is working for you! ☺️
@@CurlyChemistry Thanks. Me too!
Lucky you! Please what brand of shower filter do you use? So many conflicting reviews online!
@@chicalertng I found it on Amazon. (It’s the AquaBliss High Output Revitalizing Shower Filter - Reduces Dry Itchy Skin, Dandruff, Eczema, and Dramatically Improves The Condition of Your Skin, Hair and Nails - Chrome (SF100)). It’s actually on sale right now. I hope it helps!
@@judis9184 extremely helpful, thanks a lot!
the green house effect is excellent for low porosity hair. i always do that after applying my leave in. that's why my hair is always juicy...
Love your channel, Sis! Hope all's well with you and the fam! 🤗🕊😍
I like that your videos are to the point, no extra'd out intro music or intro breaks & not massive rambling. Just giving the info & leaving the self-plugs at the end. 👏🏽 appreciate you
It's so nice I actually stick around for the plugs at the end most of the time
I put aloe vera juice on my hair after my final rinse on wash day. This helps. Thanks for including us high porosity girls!💜
Of course! 🥰
One product that has helped my hair: Deep conditioners.
One habit that has helped my hair: Deep conditioning every wash day ❤️🤗
I've found that either curl activator or Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 mixed with a souffle or butter keeps my hair hydrated for almost the whole week.
Hawaiian Silky is a classic! 💜
I do exactly the same thing! Though these days it flakes 🥺
I just started using Hawaiian silky and it is a game changer.
I prepoo my hair when I wash it. And I make my own oils. I also make an Avacado mask with aloe vera, egg, olive oil, honey, fenugreek and other oils. It makes my hair so soft, shiny and manageable. Thank you for sharing! Love this video.
Thanks so much for the awesome information!!
Yasss to the hair streaming tip! It works.
Ur videos are the freaking BEST!
My hair steamer changed my life!!! I also have a water filter... sitting on my bathroom counter. 🤦🏾♀️ I'm going to connect before I wash my hair tomorrow.

We LOVE you, Tonia!! ❤️😊❤️Thanks as ALWAYS for the GREAT information!!

Thanks LaToya!! :-)

I started the aloe blend last week. LIFE!!!
I am so happy I found you. I love how you back everything up with science. 💕
You are so right. My steamer was a game changer for my high porosity hair.
Thanks for the tips 👸🏾 😘
Thank you for this wonderful wealth of information and I want to thank you for not torturing us and making these beautiful informative "short" videos that get to the point you are the best by far! 😍👌🏽🙌🏾❤
Hi Tonia, I put my leave in on and a plastic cap for about 10 minutes and then I seal that with Avocado oil before styling. That has been the magic for my high porosity hair. Another great video, have an amazing day!
Thank you for sharing! 💜
Verneice Shearrill I agree! And I like your comment. Personally, I have not found a leave-in that satisfies my hair. May I ask, which brand do you use?
@@MissBrendaLeeGertman Hi Miss Brenda I use Oyin Hair Dew most of the time for my Leave in. I section my short hair and make sure all is covered and this has really been keeping my moisture in my curls. My hair loves this stuff. I hope you try it and it works for you, too.
@@MissBrendaLeeGertman another great leave in I just discovered is called 12 in one leave in (it’s in a blue spritz bottle and can be found in Big Lots) 🥰✨
@@Velvety1Vee have you tried applying your leave in while your hair is wet? Game changer!
Thank you sooo much. As usual! ONE LOVE
The greenhouse method works for me. This video encourages me to get back to it. I enjoy your videos!
Thanks 4 the info as always 😉💇♀️
Wow I do the greenhouse method and my steamer. And I love your guide it helps me, now I know what the ingredients are. Thank you 👍🏾
Girl I love everrry video you do! I always learn something new. Now, what my hair loves, is 💧 * a leave in. I currently have adwoa leave in conditioner and water, spay on my hair twice a week if I remember, snd have moisture for days. I don't let my hair get dry. Issa a no on dry hair for me
You explain every detail very well. Congratulations
Thanks sis, I’ve been loving the As I Am Jamaican Black Castor Oil water spray. It’s awesome 🤩
I really needed this video. I'm still learning my hair.
Me too, you are NOT alone
Great tips. I just recently started the "greenhouse" method. Really b/c of putting some kind of something in my hair, it still being damp, me being too lazy to buy a new blow dryer, etc. Didn't want my pillow nasty and wet, so I put in my products, covered with plastic cap and scarf. Super damp in a.m. my hair is super thin, so iy was more than enough moisture!
Could u please make a playlist about how to take care about both high and low porosities?
Great tips.
I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO. PLEASE HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!!
Thank you, you too!! 💜
I love the Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter for moisturizing my hair. It is absolutely amazing.
Deep conditioning every week or every wash helps me with moisture. I can honestly dry hair is not my problem and I’m natural ☺️
I love the greenhouse method.
I also deep condition with a heated cap. Works wonders. My favorite moisturizing products are: Sally’s Generic Conditioning Balm (Compare to Matrix Biolage Conditioning) and sealing with blue magic hair grease. My hair has never been better
Luv these tips thank you 🥰💙💕.. what has helped me is putting a plastic cap back on after applying my leave-in for 15 min 😊.. game changer
Thank you! Thank you for ALL of the great info you give!

I use a water filter and tend to remoisturise with an Ayurvedic hair spritz and seal with oil. I use the greenhouse method with my prepoo. I have to find my steamer. Used it when I had locs but not since I’ve been loose natural. All really great tips. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Your advice is allowing me to create a relationship in which I am beginning to love my hair. This humectant idea is Gold and working WONDERS for me! Thank you sooooo much. If you ever have time and get around to advising about gray hair (which I now have a full head of...) I know it will take it to the next level for me. Thank you for your service. How else could I learn soooo much about my hair without becoming a chemist myself? (Hint...it never would of happened).
Thank you so much for all of the information you share. More information about which steamer to use at home, please. 😊
Aloe and fenugreek water hair spritz. Tried Goddess Strength Carol’s Daughter Divine strength Leave-in Cream for the first time this week. My hair was amazingly moisturized, soft and supple.
Gonna try this. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing! 💜
How much aloe, water, and fenugreek do you mix (I.e. what is the ratio)?
I use this mix (plus glycerin and hair growth oil) as my prepoo, courtesy of @Shereadelsol. The ease with which I’m able to detangle my hair is amazing and the curl definition!
@@gwenncoath8941 I don’t really measure. I take the Aloe plant, scoop, blend and strain the aloe gel. Then I just add my Fenugreek water. I usually soak my fenugreek seeds in water over night or for a few hours and just add it to my aloe. It is up to you how much fenugreek water you want to add.
Love your videos, so educational and has opened my eyes to certain ingredients.
Is it possible to refresh low porosity hair without misting it first? I wanted to just add my leave in which Is pattern beauty only instead of misting it first.
Happy Friday beautiful 🌻🌻🌻
Happy Friday!!
Thank you! I was looking out for this video. I live in the Caribbean. It's very hot and my hair is always dry. I'm looking forward to trying these methods. Hopefully I get good results.
Yes, keep us posted!
Can you please make a video on shower filter heads? I tried doing my own research and got so many mixed reviews.
You're earlier than usual today....clicked as fast as possible. Thanks
I know! I had a flight to catch. ✈️
I use a facial steamer and love it. It also helps with detangling.
Thank you so much for your information and content. I save them all and refer to them later. Pre-pooing, deep conditioning using my hair steamer and sealing in moisture on wash days keeps my hair moisturized through the week.
You’re so welcome! 💜💜
Please do a video on keratin and botox treatments for all hair types
Weekly or bi weekly wash days and steaming helps me retain moisture. I love Curls 2nd day refresher moisturizers. I also love to mix flaxseed gel & aloe vera clove infused juice together for hydration.
You've done it again! I followed another channel for 2 yearsand got minimal growth. In the past couple of months, since watching and following your guidelines, my hair is now shoulder length. I still get frustrated with it from time to time but I can always come here and find a solution. Thank you Tonia!
After washing and conditioning my hair, I've started using botanical gels (humectants) as stylers. I apply on soaking wet hair, work the gel in fully, then sit under a hooded dryer to dry most of the excess water (so that my hair doesn't stay wet for several days lol).
Spritz made of fenugreek, hibiscus and essential oil oils peppermint and rosemary, great moisturizer. Seal with an oil i infused or grease whatever I’m feeling like ☺️
Sameeee.... My fenugreek and hibiscus spritz works wonders on my hair.... Keeps it juicy
My diy spritz is similar except I add aloe vera to mine.
I love you videos❣️What are your thoughts about the Q-Redew hand held steamer?
Saving this video.
I have done the aloe and water. It is great from dry crunchy hair. My hair dew leave in my oyin handmade works wonders. I also use an oil formula from curly proverbs to seal with growth properties on my scalp and hair. I love these two together
Love it! Thank you for sharing!
Mine is washing my hair about twice-a-week use a leave-in conditioner moisturizer & sealing oil I seen a tremendous different
Great information ❤️Ed it. I sit for 30 mins. with my Mielle Babassu & Mint Deep Conditioner on my hair under a heat cap It adds shine and moisture to my hair every time.
Thanks My FAVORITE deep conditioner!!!!

i find Green Beauty's spritz very hydrating, and even more so with the addition of a little bit of hyaluronic acid!
Using a clarifying shampoo helped me with moisture

I love when I go to the beach or pool and my hair gets curlier I don't like the dryness but I love the tightness and definition. I love JBCO it's very moisturizing to me as well as aloe vera. Hi Curls Vick, if you add a good coating oil before going into the water it helps with the dryness.
@@Velvety1Vee thanks for the advice👍🏽👍🏽😊
Believe it or not, I have been using Shea Moisture Men Deep Hair Conditioner Avocado Butter and Manuka Honey. This deep conditioner has been working on my 4A, 4B strands. I am still going to switch up deep conditioners while keeping the Shea Moisture Men Deep Hair Conditioner in my collection.
I started doing a green tea rinse after washing out the deep conditioner. It made my hair sooooo soft. And I already had a whole box of green tea bags from awhie ago.
OK love your shirt - wear is it from!? Thanks for all of your hair tips!
Hobby Lobby 😭💜
By watching 👀 you. I've focus on keeping my hair Moisturized, with water, Leave in & oil, I've seen more length, those oil rinses is everything for me.❤Thanks so much...
You’re welcome! ☺️
I think putting an oil to seal after I put my leave in on. I’ve also started leaving in some of the conditioner that I’m apply in the shower. Co washing has helped me to retain the moisture in my hair.
Thanks again Tonya for sharing these great tips with us. If I choose to use the water and glycerin hairspray or the water and aloe vera hairspray do I need to have the water warm for my low porosity hair?
Help! I still don’t know how to determine if I have low or high porosity hair 🤦♀️. I’ve watched so many videos and get confused🥴
Love your videos! Thank you!!
I have been doing the greenhouse effect years ago great method. Now I am black hair n grey hair now in a TWA stage and I need to learn how to keep moisture in and what products to use from now on, this is a challenge for me right now.
Hello! As always, great information. I actually combine water, aloe vera gel, glycerin and olive oil, or avocado oil. I mist my hair in the morning and evening. My hair is feeling better since. No moisture overload.
Thank you! 💜
Hi Tonya, is it possible that u can make a video about the water hydration method , its a great way for moisture but i’m scared that it can also cause hygral fatigue
The pattern beauty styling cream & Camille rose naturals fresh curl revitalizing hair smoother 😍😍😍
Thank you for sharing! 💜
Hey! That hair steamer is one of the best investments for me for real for real! I'm excited to do the greenhouse effect. Great information...
Love a good steam treatment! 💜
Can you please share the brand you use?
Yes hair steamer was a for real game changer to me. Going to go back to the greenhouse effect. Starting this weekend on wash day.
Great tips Tonya. I prefer water and aloe vera mixture for moisturizing my low porosity hair. What ratio of water to AV would you suggest?
For ACV rinses 2.5 cups water to 1/4 cup ACV. You can adjust as needed,
I use the Aphogee Keratin 2 minute Reconstructor once a month. And I DC with Ethnic Gals low porosity deep conditioner once a week. I have 4c/low porosity hair. Thank you for educating and inspiring us!
You’re so welcome! 💜
Reconstructor is bae🙌🏿
I live in Vegas.. Super dry usually and high porosity.. Type 3,med density and med. texture..I oil my scalp, spray a leave in mid shaft to ends then coat with oil then slip a satin cap on . Plastic bag keeps my hair too most through the night.. This just means I have to wash my cap a bit more often.. 😊
Starpuppy put me on to aloe, king bril w/ the greenhouse, but i've never heard of glycerin. Always learn something new here.
I now see in your notes that you do list the ratio. Thanks
Hey there sis could you tell me which steamer is best for high porosity, super fine super coily hair. Thanks in advance 💐💖💐
I learned about aloe vera being a humectant the hard way a few years back. I had my hair in a protective style during the winter and when I took the style down I had horrible breakage from my hair being dry. But the answer to your question is I steam my hair when I deep condition and when I add my moisturizer 😊
yea but how long did u leave the style in for?
@@idoyes1400 about 3 to 4 weeks. I had faux locs and I was using the aloe to moisture my scalp and roots followed by an oil mixture and the mixture did not have any coconut oil in it.
definitely the greenhouse method ☺️
My DIY spray. Keeps my hair moisturized and growing like crazy
I know people usually tout the LOC or LCO methodology. For me I use LG ( leave-in + Gel ). The gel also isn't a regular gel it's a protein gel. It's helped me allot. I had omitted the oil because I noticed most oils especially ones carrying fragrances irritated my scalp.
I have a sensitive scalp and for me personally I find that organic oil such as olive oil or jojoba oils from the grocery store work great. I make sure it is 100% oil only. It's also economical. Hope this helps!
Aloe Vera juice and glycerin works wonders. I also use what I call the JERI CURL method! Old schools remember when people who had Jeri curls get their hair by moisturizing and bagging it!
Thanks
I use steam with my pre-poo and refresh with steam mid week🙌🏾
Hi 😊. What kind of pre-poo do you use?
@@bridgettejohnson9085 Hi Curlfriend!!! I have a DIY pre-poo tutorial on my channel demonstrating the steamer.
@@YummyCandiCollection sounds good! I will check it out! Thanks 🙏🏾
You are always so wonderful ❤❤. Thank you...
Thank you!
These are get recommendations for more moisture, I have low porosity hair does aloe vera act like a protein? Definitely can not use too much protein in my hair.
I learned that steam does wonders for my hair! I use it everytime i condition.
I love it!
Tried the greenhouse method and couldn’t sleep. My hair was misty but the moment I fell asleep it was steaming and became wet (my body temperature goes up when I’m sleeping)I woke up coughing like crazy. Tried to sleep some more but was coughing in minutes. Needless to say I had dry my hair before I could sleep again, then the sudden coughing stopped🤣

Apply on soaking wet hair.
Love your channel and energy. Ques, does the Green House method work for high porosity? I thought HP had to be careful w/ too much heat that can open the cuticles more. On that note, would you recommend the 'Mielle Overnight Conditioner by Moisture Rx'? I've heard good things about it but was reluctant b/c of my hp hair. Hope to get a response, but thank u anyway for your gr8 tips.
A steamer was a game changer. After shampooing/deep conditioning, I steam my hair and then apply Melanin’s Multi-Purpose Leave In and then continue until the steam stops. Then I put a plastic cap on for about 5 minutes, remove and seal w/Melanin’s Oil. Put a plastic cap on again for about 10 minutes. After that I style. Hair stays moisturized for days.
About 4 years ago, when I had dyed(purple) high porosity hair, I tried the water + glycerine mixture in a very humid environment and it made my hair very frizzy. I've been cutting the damage as it grew and now my hair is medium porosity. It loves 1 part aloe + 2 parts water, sealed with shea butter or castor oil. I have type 4 highly dense hair and thick strands, so heavier products works for it. It stays moisturised for about 2-3 days and I mostly style it in 10 braids or twists until next wash day.
Do you use aloe directly from the plant or buy aloe juice?
@@selenacollier8104 Directly from the plant.
Thank you for sharing! 💜
Rosewater and glycerin spritz hydrates my low porosity hair beautifully.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks ...
On wash day I use a mixture of garlic and coconut oil on my scalp and then detangle my hair with water and castor oil. I sit under the heat cap for 10 minutes to let it penetrate and then wash my hair. I put a few drops of rosemary oil in the shampoo to wash my hair. Lastly, I use the heat cap to deep condition my hair.
Nice! Thank you for sharing! 💜
Hey Tonia, does the humidity/dry air rule apply to both the aloe & glycerin methods or only the one with glycerin?? And also is the ratio to water the same for the leave in spray?
