I don’t think a lot of people know that they need to do this. I was one of those people. I am just now understanding why it’s needed , so not everyone knows. Everyone just hears all the youtubers say to like comment and subscribe, but don’t know why cause it’s usually not explained often. I finally understand. Maybe we need videos on how that works more to get the word out to people who don’t know .

I usually pre-poo with coconut oil and detangle a few days before I wash my hair. It tangles and gets matted easily. I have thick, long, low porosity hair. Wash day feels like it takes ALL day...lol. I take breaks, eat, etc. But seriously with no breaks I would probably say it takes about 4hrs to wash, deep condition, detangle again, moisturize, and style my hair. Sometimes I need a day 2! Maybe you should pre poo the day 4b and put hair in braided ponytail, something you can quickly take out. Also. You want to put more coconut oil. Next day take it out the style and wash and put your deep conditioner in and do what you have to do around the house. I put a plastic bag on, heat up my hair and then put a hat on to contain the heat and iron clothes for work. Rinse out and put on my leave ins in sections while I'm sipping on wine and blasting my music. I definitely looked forward to hair day, mine is on Sundays. Once I saw the results, that was everything and made me keep going. Hope I was able to help.

I think finding ways to avoid the tangles will be the best solution if you’re doing everything else right. Avoiding product buildup, checking for split ends, sleeping with a silk pillow, avoid over manipulating the strands, keeping your hair tied up, avoid less than ideal weather. It’s gonna be difficult to do all that all the time though.

If I do what I’m supposed to it’s around 2 hours, but can take up to 4 hours if I’m overhauling it😀 It’s not the time itself that I dread, it’s trying to get it done while trying to prevent the kids from fighting and breaking stuff 😅

Then I deep condition under my heated cap for an hour. I rinse my hair thoroughly with warm water and I apply my leave and oil on my damp hair. Then I put on my moisturizing hair gel cream to twist my hair and I'm done. I absolutely dread my wash days, the washing and conditioning is usually 2+ hours but then there's 2+ hours of stylinh. I have long, fine, very high density hair and it tangles so easily, especially on wash day. Pre-poos help a little with the tangling but they take so long to apply to my dry tangled hair. I'd rather go straight to the shampoo. I used to like doing my hair but it takes so long that I've been wearing protective styles just to avoid touching it.

My protective style wash day takes me 2 full days. My wash and go wash day takes 3 days (4days if you include drying time). My poor arms and back and wrinkled fingers... I have high porosity, high density, “4a” curls. I have an ayerVedic routine so even if I already have my products made and in the freezer is still takes me forever. God for bid I have to make new products that week. I generally leave my pre-poo Oil on overnight or if it’s during the day for several hours. then black soap and clay wash. Then protein treatment/ deep conditioner. then moisturizing treatment/deep conditioner. Then rinse out conditioner. Then rinse with bottled water. Then let it air dry to get the plain water out of my hair. Then re-drench my hair with a mix of aloe vera juice, aloe gel, and mucilage tea. then let that air dry a little bit. Then go in with my moisturizer and scalp oil. This is generally when I detangle with my fingers and a tangleteaser brush and twist into large sections. I let that dry for about a good 24 hours If I’m doing a wash and go. If I am putting my hair up in a protective style so I can wear wigs, then I let it dry for only about 1 to 3 hours. Then I go in with my Flax seed gel and hair growth oil with castor oil to seal everything in. If Im wearing a wash and go then I put my hair in clips so it can dry in a more elongated state. at this point I can let it air dry or use my diffuser or sit under the hooded dryer...but I feel that that dries my hair out too much so generally I let it air dry for a loooong time and then hit my roots with the diffuser when I can’t take it anymore. if I am wearing wigs, after I slather on the Flax seed gel and castor oil, I put it into Braided plaits at the root and twist the length of my hair because I feel that is the best way to flatten my roots and still protect my curl pattern. Braids have ruined my curl pattern in the past. This can literally take 3 days to dry so i try to hit it with the diffuser or go out in the sun for a while or go to bed with a silk scarf on and a towel on my pillow. I love the self-care aspect of wash day but it is such a huge chore that I usually dread it.

It's usually not possible for me to do it all in one day, but I'm finding that moisturizing on 85% or so dry hair (I mist a small amount of aloe vera juice to start with a little bit of wetness if it almost completely dry) has been better for me than doing it on completely wet or even damp hair. I've been able to get more moisture longer. I can go without remoisturizing around 7 days and I wash every 12-14 days.

I don't dread it, but sometimes I just don't feel like it. Takes about 3-4hrs depending on if it's spring/summer I can air dry or fall/winter hood dry. 1.5 of those hrs tho are conditioner time + doing other things.

I look forward to wash-day, mainly because my hair feels bad to horrible by day four or five. No matter what I do my hair feels dry or greasy and dry though I moisturize my hair every other day, and I seal on wash-day. My hair feels best after I shampoo and deep condition my hair, but by day 4-5, I have to start all over again. My hair is low porosity, mid-back length and I never, ever use heat.

Great video!!!! My wash day use to be hours but now i have managed to reduce it to 2 hrs. I pre poo, shampoo, deep comdition.and moisturise. Thank God i have managed to reduce my time because i was getting frustrated. The longer my hair gets it is becoming difficult to detangle so I made changes. I stick to a 10 day regimen anytime beyond that my hair tangles excessively. Second I incorporated the pre poo phase which is a lifesaver and thirdly. I stick to styles that would not tangle my hair excessively.

Loved the video! I'm Lp, I can't wait till your next video! I need new product ideas.
My wash day takes about 2 days the first day about 6 hours, I usually need to mix products up like my conditioner and my shampoo. I usually don't style till next day. I still do my six twist with my tea (witch hazel, green tea, sea moss or rose water), hair cream, splash of oil then tie it up with satin scarf or bonnet or both. Then next day wet it again if necessary ( rarely) then do cream, my diy growth oil, and a hair butter.
I'm currently working on adding grease in the mix. Depending on how my hair feels sometimes I'll seal it all with blue magic The blue one or the castor oil blue magic

I'm a newer natural and my wash day takes hours! My hair tangles easily so I have a multi day process that is needed before I even prepoo. I am currently applying products on damp hair which also takes time to dry. But it helps my dry time for my style.

During transitioning, the longest watch day I had was 11 hours and it was because the product was matting up my hair and I was trying to not have to cut the mats out and nothing help like apple cider vinegar or even the products detangler. I did have to cut some hair and I blame it on the product and will never buy it again. Could have also been my fault though because maybe I did not properly detangle before using the product or maybe it's because I had to textures of hair relaxed and natural. However oh, I had had no problems with the two textures prior to using that product recommended at the beauty store. The hair was about shoulder blade length when transitioning. Maybe the length had something to do with it also but again never happened with any other shampoos. Now it probably takes me about 3 hours if I do a one-hour pre poo and playing nice music in the background keeps me going and distracted and I shampoo in a sink.

I cut my wash day from 8 hours to 6 (includes styling) by one simple hack: Before I add product to my hair, I towel dry each section. I've found not only does the product absorb better in my hair, it's drastically cut down on the drying time. I air dry exclusively because I don't like adding heat or using the cool-air products (like Revair).

I dread wash day. My hair tangles like crazy. Right after I detangle it's tangled again. So lots of sectioning, lots of twists, clips and bands to try and minimize the tangles. If I prepoo and deep condition then it's like a two day process because I'll get too tired to finish. No prepoo or deep conditioner and I'm still looking at 3-4 hrs from start to finish.

    Rinse, about 5-10 minutes
Moisturize and seal, about half an hour
So maybe a little over 2 hours
I enjoy it because my hair and scalp feel happy afterwards
