    What a great topic. It's rare that depression and food (which can go hand in hand) are talked about. Thank you! Therapy is a wonderful thing.

    The timing is crazy. Needed this 😳 I would also be interested in the future if you have more ideas for especially low effort meals with very few steps. I think that could help many of us who struggle to eat well or spend time in the kitchen, especially during depressive episodes!

    I rarely make comments but thank you so much. I'm bipolar and proud to be because without that i would not be who i am today. Our frown today can help someone in the future to change their life because of those experiences in my own life. Wow, imagine my life can touch others. Simply thank you!! Keep smiling😊

    I have MDD, fibromyalgia, and celiac. I have felt you are what you eat. Unfortunately the US doesn’t feel the same. Government would rather try to direct citizens to sources that provides their want.

      @@Mediterraneanliving The past 10 years I've been in bed with drug resistant major depression that I could not shake. But about a year ago, I was finally able to start clawing my way out. I met a man last March = he wasn't interested in me. ☺️ But then I met a guy in June & fell in love - something I didn't think would ever happen. We dated until Monday, when he broke up with me. He wants to go back with his ex-girlfriend. He really gave me a reason to live, to plan, and to look FORWARD in life. Now I feel myself wallowing in the past. But I'm determined to make a life for myself. Thank you for your kind words!!! 💜💜💜

      @Catherine-gt3cr I'm sorry you are experiencing this heartache. I too have a history of chronic depression. Meeting someone who loves you and accepts you can be very affirming, but we should not depend on that other person to give our lives purpose. I hope you don't take this badly, but in my experience, it can be overwhelming for the other person if they feel that the depressed person is depending on them. I'm not saying that definitely happened, as I don't know you or your ex, but something I've learned over the years with this condition is to cultivate my own meaning in life, giving more of myself to others, connecting with nature and learning to say no when people demand things of me. Basically, to live authentically. I still have my struggles, and meds didn't work for me either, but eating lots of good food, drinking enough water and staying away from negativity as much as I can, has really helped.
      I really hope you find relief and a renewed spirit :)

      @@lily5952 Thank you. No, I've lived alone for more than 30 years. I do not depend on another person but what I did find through this relationship was that while I was planning a future ~ we were going to go to Atlanta, to the islands, etc., ~ while planning that future, I didn't have time to think about the past. I had never considered the value of that before. I realize those 10 years in bed did not give me a "present" or a "future" only a past to wallow in my misery. I have no family and have self isolated myself from friends by not being able to go and do. During the first 20 years of the 30 years, I created a life for myself or attempted to. I traveled, went to concerts, visit relatives, etc. But I found it wasn't very fun and it was a lot of effort and work and it wore me down. It did not make me happy to do it by myself yet I got up every morning and attempted to make a life. It just took too much out of me to continue after 20 years. I've always wanted someone to share my life with and feel like I have a lot to offer. This life has been very disappointed for me as I always wanted children and a family but never got that. I am trying again to get out into the world and hopefully find friends and others to share my life with ~ to go and do and have fun! Thank you for your thoughtful and sweet comment. I'm wishing you the best!!! 💜💜💜

    Thank you very much for this video on this specific topic! After 15 years as a first responder with 2 kids at home and a full time working wife things are getting out of control. Top it all off with homeschooling both kids for almost 2 years due to COVID here in Canada and my day to day mood has come to a head. I am currently seeing a therapist who is digging more into my past and likely going to prescribe medications. I know my situation is not at all unique, but it's all in how YOU deal with things, and it hasn't been the best these past 4 years.
    I found your channel a year ago and bought your online cookbook. I have been trying to cook alot healthier for my wife and I, two young kids are a struggle but my daughter is slowly trying better foods.
    I really appreciate all the work that you are doing and look forward to the new videos you put out. Keep up the great work and I wish you great health and happiness!

    I eat super well and it helps me a lot. Thing is I feel angry and sad, not depressed, but angry and sad that I can't eat bread and cheese anymore. Getting rid of sugar and processed food was easy. Getting rid of delicious Italian food took one of the great joys out of my life.

    What brand and type of tuna is the best?

    • @lily5952
      @lily5952 Месяц назад +1

      He mentioned albacore in the video. I don't think the type of tuna really matters, as long as it's sustainably sourced. There are some tuna species that have been overfished and now are critically endangered. Before buying your tuna, look up the status of the species.

    Food is not going to relieve the underlying cause of depression. Eating something you enjoy or even that is healthy for you, does not bring back loved ones for instance. If you are truly depressed, you are just SOL.
