  • In this episode of TFBTV, ‪@JamesReeves‬ gets his hands on the NEW Smith & Wesson FPC. The FPC - Folding Pistol Carbine - is a 16" barreled pistol caliber carbine that borrows heavily from the Smith & Wesson M&P pistol series, with a similar trigger and controls. It comes packaged with a soft case, one 17-round capacity & two 23-round capacity magazines. The FPC is obviously similar to the Kel-Tec SUB-2000 folding carbine, so James compares the FPC to his SUB-2000.
    Features per ‪@SmithAndWessonInc‬:
    - Compact, folding design.
    - Optics-ready.
    - Integrated recoil buffer system.
    - Reversible magazine catch.
    - 30 3/8 ̋ unfolded length to 16 3/8 ̋ folded.
    - 1/2-28 threaded muzzle with thread protector.
    - Flat-face trigger with crisp break.
    - Compatible with M&P® Pistol double-stack magazines.
    - In-stock magazine storage w/quick-release tab system.
    - Horizontal folding mechanism with locking latch.
    - Horizontal folding design doesn’t interfere with
    top-mounted optics (optics sold separately).
    - M-LOK® slots on handguard with Picatinny-style rail on top.
    - Charging slide/handle doubles as retainer when folded.
    - Carrying bag with additional storage and Velcro® straps.
    - Backed by Smith & Wesson’s Limited Lifetime Service Policy.
    - Made in U.S.A.

Great review again with the most current guns out. Keltec vs Smith, I'll stick with Keltec. It took Smith almost 20years to come up with something between pistol and rifle. Another example of their mediocre guns. Do you really need a red dot? Keltec has been fine for niche guns that take dif.mfg. mags. I'd rather say I own a pmr dirty30 than a smith fancy Nancy pants. Beretta, Glock, Sig all better than S&W.

I believe the 9m ballistics with a 16.5" barrel increase muzzle velocity to about 1175 fps for quite a punch. if one loads hollow point amo, a Water Mellon totally EXPLODES. I have a silencer purchased, but the ATF is taking 12+ month to approve. I would like to see Smith & Wesson make a barrel and magazine conversion kit for their 5.7x28 amo used in their new pistol. with a 6" barrel the muzzle velocity is 2300fps, out of a 16" barrel the muzzle velocity could reack 3000fps !!

Both the SUB 2000 and the FPC are in that backpack shoot-lots-of-ammo category. (Own and shoot both.) That’s why the FPC has the integrated dual mag carrier which is cool. There are a lot of small put in a backpack carbines, SBRs many, (if you have smartly replaced the brace with a real buttstock). Think of it as the opposite end of the spectrum as a shotgun - shotgun equals once and done, skinny 9mm PCC at least 5 rounds to be safe and secure.
The FPC is a dream to shoot 6 and 10 round drills, light, no recoil, accurate with the long barrel. Dumping ammo is where it shines.
We are probably in the golden age of firearms, there are so many options, so the FPC is a response to imagining a scenario where you need to jump out of your ride and go to work, and you want more than your CCW. It is a far, far fetched scenario - it assumes you can’t or shouldn’t drive away, that you have significant time otherwise you would be going for your appendix or strong side, (and those two don’t match, can’t get away but you have time), and that you have legal authority, and that you likely will not get shot by arriving police.
Having said that folks will start laying out scenarios where it would be beneficial to have an FPC-like rig - active shooter with a long gun where you need to get your family out of Kroger’s and you’re at your car. Implausible? Sure, but if you can imagine a scenario and you have the money (and the permit if need be) why not let the two meet, your imagination and your money, and buy the gun because - you want to.

Just brought one home yesterday. Right out of the box the charging handle took the Jolly Green Giant to work, but one I stripped it down and cleaned/oiled it, everything was good.
Respectfully, two things shown here should be done differently. First, releasing the barrel WILL eventually damage the charging handle enough where it wont hold. In the manual that come with the weapon it indicates that when folding or unfolding the barrel the charging handle should be pulled back a tad to release the grip. Of course that takes away the cool cowboy flip. Second, the magazine clip release isnt a pull item...it is a push item. You are supposed to push the opposite side of the mag you want. Want the outside mag....push the inside of the mag release and so on.

I"m holding out for an FPC in .40 Cal... I've owned the Sub 2000 in .40 Cal and it shot OK but drew blood each and every time I tried to clean it. Operator error I'm sure but blood letting non the less.. I like the side folding vs top folding because I'll put my AimPoint on it and leave it on rather than take it off every time I store the rifle. Great video. I'll check out your other videos.. Thanks, RT

Looks good for at start in 9mm. Hope S&W looks at other pistol califers. It would match my 45acp

Great review, I really like the looks of the FPC but my kel-tec sub 2000 is this most accurate gun right out of the box I ever bought with iron sights, so wouldn't trade it for the FPC. The other thing is the sub 2000 takes glock magazines.

I am going with the S&W FPC. I like the Keltec sub but S&W makes better quality. I'm doing a 9mm carbine for home defense since I won't have to get a separate ammo for my range weapon. 12g shells and 9mm is all I will need

With that bullpup shotty and now this, S&W is about to steal keltec's crown and I love keltec but I'm excited to see it.
